Acharonim Shel Pesach
Yetzias Mitzrayim did more than redeem us from Mitzrayim — it opened the pipeline for the future geulah, hinted throughout the kriah and haftarah of the last days of Pesach.
Part of Acharonim Shel Pesach
Shows how geulas Mitzrayim, per the pasuk k'yemei tzeischa mei'eretz Mitzrayim arenu niflaos and the Gemara's b'Nissan nig'alu u'v'Nissan asidin l'higael, functions as the opening of the tzinor for the future geulah of Mashiach. Traces remazim for Mashiach through the shirah read on Shevi'i Shel Pesach and its haftarah of David HaMelech, then shows how Acharon Shel Pesach's haftarah speaks about Mashiach's coming, the wolf dwelling with the lamb, and kibbutz galuyos in open, explicit terms — explaining why the Baal Shem Tov instituted an extra Seudas Mashiach specifically on that day.

A vort from the Rebbe on the last days of Pesach. Even though Pesach is the day that we celebrate יציאת מצרים when we were redeemed from Mitzrayim, it is also the preparation for the coming of Mashiach, the גאולה העתידה, the future geulah that we will go out of this galut. And as it says in pasuk: כימי צאתך מארץ מצרים אראנו נפלאות, that just as we went out of Mitzrayim, the Aibershter will show us wonders in the new geulah, so we see the connection between גאולת מצרים and the גאולה העתידה, the future geulah. It also says in Gemara: בניסן נגאלו ובניסן עתידין ליגאל. In Nissan, the month of Nissan, we went out of Mitzrayim, we had the geulah from Mitzrayim, this is going to be the time we'll have the geulah from this galut. And it says even in sefarim that גאולת מצרים opened up the צינור, we call it, the pipe, that there should be the גאולה העתידה, which means it gives the koach at the גאולה העתידה. And as we see it that in the Haggadah, before we drink the second kos and we make a bracha, what do we say in that bracha? And this is a bracha of the, right after the Haggadah, which talks about the גאולת מצרים, nevertheless what do we say there? We say that כן ה' אלקינו ואלקי אבותינו יגיענו למועדים ולרגלים אחרים, we're asking ה' to bring us to the מועדים טובים, הבאים לקראתנו that come to us לשלום, שמחים בבנין עירך, we will be happy with the building of your city, וששים בעבודתך, happy in the עבודה in the בית המקדש השלישי, ונאכל שם מן הזבחים ומן הפסחים, we will eat the korbanot, so we see that by the seder itself we mention the גאולה העתידה, the geulah that is coming. And in פסח גופא, we know that in detail, more in detail, more בפרטיות, the first days of Pesach are connected to the גאולת מצרים and the last days of Pesach are connected to the גאולה העתידה, to the geulah of Mashiach, as the Frierdiker Rebbe quoted in the name of the Tzemach Tzedek, etc., etc. And it's also מרומז in the קריאה of the last days of Pesach. שביעי של פסח we read the קריאה of the שירה, the שירה that the Yidden said after קריעת ים סוף, and in the שירה we talk about, ברמז, the גאולה העתידה by the coming of Mashiach. In the beginning it says אז ישיר משה, then Moshe will sing, and the Chazal tell us that it says in לשון of future, לשון עתיד, because it means the קיום of Mashiach. Also on the end of the שירה it says מקדש ה' כוננו ידיך, ה' ימלוך לעולם ועד, which this goes on the coming timing of coming of Mashiach.
And we see it in the Haftarah, in the Haftarah of the last days of Pesach. The Haftarah of שביעי של פסח is the שירה of David, and the reason is because שביעי and אחרון של פסח is the giluy of Moshiach, and Moshiach is Ben David, he is a descendant of David. The haftarah of Acharon Shel Pesach is talking בפועל by the, but concerning the geulah, in the haftarah it talks about the geulah. And this shows that there is a connection between Pesach and the, and with the coming of Moshiach, more in the geulah in, in the last days of Pesach. In the last days of Pesach itself, between the Shevi'i Shel Pesach and Acharon Shel Pesach, the גאולה העתידה is mainly stressed in Acharon Shel Pesach. In Acharon Shel Pesach the haftarah actually talks בגילוי, you could see, it talks outright about Moshiach, not like the haftarah of Shevi'i Shel Pesach, which we said is also a remez for the time of Moshiach, but this is בגילוי. The pasuk says ויצא חוטר מגזע ישי ונחה עליו רוח ה' והריחו, these are all the things that describe Moshiach. And it says in the haftarah what's going to happen when Moshiach will come, וגר זאב עם כבש, a wolf with a sheep will live together, מלאה הארץ דעה את ה' כמים לים מכסים, the earth will be full of knowledge of Hashem' like the water covers the sea. And it talks also about קיבוץ גלויות, the gathering of the Yidden who are in galut. It says that if you look into the words, it says ואסף נדחי ישראל, ה' will gather all the Yidden, והחרים ה', הניף ידו על הנהר, all these inyanim they talk about the giluy of Moshiach. And that's in the haftarah, so we see that אחרון של פסח specifically, even more than שביעי של פסח, is connected to the time of Mashiach.
And we, even though the simple reason why we say this haftarah is because the night of Pesach was the מפלה of Sennacherib, Sennacherib's downfall, and this haftarah starts off with downfall of Sennacherib, but if that would be the only reason, so number one, it happened the first night of Pesach, not אחרון של פסח, why do we say it אחרון של פסח? And the second thing, the haftarah, the beginning talks about that, but the most of the haftarah doesn't talk about that, so why do we say it in אחרון של פסח? All that shows that אחרון של פסח has a real shaychus itself to גאולת משיח. So the first days of Pesach are connected to Yetzias Mitzrayim מצרים, the last days of Pesach to Mashiach. Generally speaking, the whole Pesach is connected to Mashiach, but mostly we see it in the last days of Pesach, and between the last days of Pesach also, it is more in אחרון של פסח that we see it. And that's the reason why the Baal Shem Tov instituted Seudas Mashiach, that on אחרון של פסח we should eat an extra meal, which he called the seudah of Mashiach, that that's the celebration of the coming of Mashiach. Which means that not only we have the emunah in Mashiach and the bitachon, we know for sure Mashiach is going to come, but we actually put it into a seudah, which means we make it into something גשמי, something tangible, and we really celebrate already the coming of Mashiach because we're so sure he's going to come. But when do we do it? On אחרון של פסח, because אחרון של פסח is a day of the gilui of Mashiach. And that's the day that we strengthen our emunah in Mashiach, and we are sure that Mashiach is coming very, very soon.
