said today in the shiur Rambam of the three 驻专拽讬诐 happens to be Hilchos Beis Habechirah. Mamish der Eibershter firt di velt. Obviously if everybody follows the the the regular... 讛讗? No, I mean... It takes it takes four days to finish Hilchos Beis Habechirah because it's 12 驻专拽讬诐 and there are four, three 驻专拽讬诐 a day, but this goes slower. Anyway, we're holding 讛诇讻讛 讜. After the Rambam said what's the structure of the building, so he said you have to have three compartments of the building. And here's the picture we're talking about yesterday. See, according to the Rambam, all three compartments are equal. You see? The other pictures that they usually make, I don't know if they have, is with it's like a T, like I said. Let's see if I'm sure I have pictures of that. Oh, like here, see? Here. It's not really a T. No, this is after this is the 讘讬转 this is a picture of the 讬专讱 砖诇 讘讬转 专讗砖讜谉. 讘讬转 专讗砖讜谉 was different. I'm looking, I know, I think they have... The Lubavitch paper, so maybe they're not going to put the T. No, no, the Lubavitch Lubavitchers also hold of Rashi. It should be someplace. I know there are pictures. Anyway, but here you have the picture. Oh, here, you see? 诇诪砖诇, here you have a T. This is the 讘讬转. See, this is the 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐 and the 拽讚砖. This is the 讗讜诇诐. The 讗讜诇诐 sticks out. Yeah, but you know that still you have what is... Oh, you have like... This is the 讗讜诇诐. But around around what he stand it's like that the covering, because it basically goes with the wall. There's nothing there. This is... No, there are 转讗讬诐 here. That's... But it's not a part of the building. Right. But here you see, according to this picture, straight, straight. This building contains all three all three compartments, all three parts. The back is the 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐, in the middle is the 拽讚砖, then there's the 讗讜诇诐. Okay, so after we learned that, so the
Rambam says now, 讜注讜砖讬谉 讘诪拽讚砖 砖讘注讛 讻诇讬诐, and what you must have in the Beis Hamikdash is seven different vessels: 诪讝讘讞 诇注讜诇讛 讜诇砖讗专 讛拽专讘谞讜转. You have to have a 诪讝讘讞, the big 诪讝讘讞, which is made for the 拽专讘谉 注讜诇讛 and all the 拽专讘谞讜转. That's the 诪讝讘讞 that stood in the 注讝专讛, outside of the building in the courtyard. 讜讛讻讘砖 砖注讜诇讬诐 讘讜 诇诪讝讘讞, and the ramp that you go up. 讜诪拽讜诪讜 诇驻谞讬 讛讗讜诇诐 诪砖讜讱 诇讚专讜诐, and it's in front of the 讗讜诇诐, it's outside of the 讗讜诇诐, like here, here they have a picture. This is the This here's the entrance to the 讗讜诇诐. This is the 诪讝讘讞. This is the 讻讘砖. Going up to the 诪讝讘讞 and this is the 诪讝讘讞. And 讻讬讜专 讜讻谞讜, you have the 讻讬讜专, the the The washbasin and the the base. 诇拽讚砖 诪诪谞讜 讛讻讛谞讬诐 讬讚讬讛诐 讜专讙诇讬讛诐 诇注讘讜讚讛, the 讻讛谞讬诐 would have to wash their hands preparing for the 注讘讜讚讛. 讜诪拽讜诪讜, that is 讘讬谉 讛讗讜诇诐 讜诇诪讝讘讞, that's in between. In between the 讗讜诇诐 and the 诪讝讘讞, here in between someplace, was the 讻讬讜专. 诪砖讜讱 诇讚专讜诐 砖讛讜讗 砖诪讗诇 讛谞讻谞住 诇诪拽讚砖, which is on 讚专讜诐, which is on the left side when you enter the 诪拽讚砖, on the left side, in between the 讗讜诇诐 and the 诪讝讘讞 you have the 讻讬讜专. Then you have to have more things. 诪讝讘讞 诇拽讟讜专转, a 诪讝讘讞 of 拽讟讜专转, the small 诪讝讘讞 which was inside the 讛讬讻诇. 讜诪谞讜专讛, and the 诪谞讜专讛, and the 砖讜诇讞谉. 讜砖诇砖转谉, all three, 讘转讜讱 讛拽讚砖, inside the 拽讚砖, 诇驻谞讬 讛拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐. This is the 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐, this is the 讗讜诇诐, so in front of the 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐 you have these three. Where was that lake that Shlomo HaMelech made, the big... The Yam Shel Shlomo? The Yam Shel Shlomo, the 12 oxen. Where was that in relation to the 讗讜诇诐? Yeah, here it is. 讛讬讻诇? In the in the 注讝专讛. Yeah. You mean the this Off to the side of it? Yeah. Doesn't show that in any of the in the other pictures. That's in 讘讬转 专讗砖讜谉. All the pictures are 讘讬转 砖谞讬. 讘讬转 砖谞讬 didn't have it. This is only in 讘讬转 专讗砖讜谉. This is 讘讬转 专讗砖讜谉. Okay, now, when we said that you have to have the 诪讝讘讞, the 诪谞讜专讛, and the 砖讜诇讞谉 inside, 讛诪谞讜专讛 讘讚专讜诐 诪砖诪讗诇 讛谞讻谞住, when you enter the 诪谞讜专讛 is on the left side when the guy walks in. 砖讜诇讞谉 诪讬诪讬谉, the 砖讜诇讞谉 is on the right side, 讜注诇讬讜 诇讞诐 讛驻谞讬诐, that had the 诇讞诐 讛驻谞讬诐. 讜砖谞讬讛诐 诪爪讚 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐 诪讘讞讜抓, both on the side of the 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐 on the outside, in other words in the room before, but it's on the side of the 拽讚砖 讛拽讚砖讬诐. 讜诪讝讘讞 讛拽讟讜专转 诪砖讜讱 诪讘讬谉 砖谞讬讛诐 诇讞讜抓. 讜诪讝讘讞 讛拽讟讜专转 is in between the two, but pulled away. Okay, let's move on. Now,
讜注讜砖讬谉 讘转讜讱 讛注讝专讛 讙讘讜诇讬谉. In the 注讝专讛 itself, so the courtyard, they had areas, 讙讘讜诇讬谉. Is that is that seven 讻诇讬诐? I thought you said only six. Oh, the 讻讘砖 counts as a separate 讻诇讬? The 讻讬讜专 and the 讻谞讜 are two? Let's count them again. 诪讝讘讞, 讻讘砖, 讻讬讜专... 讻讬讜专? No, I did. And 诪讝讘讞 讛拽讟讜专转, 诪谞讜专讛, and 砖讜诇讞谉. So it must be the 讻谞讜 is counted also. No, that's the thing, that it's a big, big 砖讗诇讛 why the Rambam doesn't count the 讗专讜谉. The Ramban does count the 讗专讜谉. The 讻谞讜, also, is that it's a separate 讻诇讬? Yeah, that's, that wasn't what connected? Must have been a separate 讻诇讬, yeah. Then inside, let's find, in the, in the, in the yard, courtyards, you had 讙讘讜诇讬诐, you had areas where it was marked off. 注讚 讻讗谉 讬砖专讗诇, here the yidden could, here every 讬砖专讗诇 could go. 注讚 讻讗谉 讻讛谞讬诐, here the 讻讛谞讬诐 could go. So this was called, there was a, one area, the biggest area was called 注讝专转 谞砖讬诐. Does it mean it was, it was the vaiber shul? Nowadays we call the vaiber shul 注讝专转 谞砖讬诐. It wasn't the vaiber shul. But it was an area where the vaiber were allowed to also go. Then there's the area further called 讗专抓, 注讝专转 讬砖专讗诇, because women were not allowed to go there, just men. And they couldn't go further. Then you have 注讝专转 讻讛谞讬诐 where the 讻讛谞讬诐 were allowed to go. Another thing, 讘讜谞讬诐 讘讜 讘转讬诐 诇砖讗专 爪专讻讬 讛诪拽讚砖, they had different rooms for all the needs of the 诪拽讚砖. 讻诇 讘讬转 诪讛诐 谞拽专讗 诇砖讻讛, every room was called a 诇砖讻讛. 诇砖讻讛 nowadays we call an office. It was an office for different things, as the Rambam will explain. 讜讻砖讘讜谞讬诐 讛讛讬讻诇 讜讛注讝专讛,
when you build the 讛讬讻诇 and the 注讝专讛, which means the 讛讬讻诇, as we said, the Rambam said before, all three compartments of the building are called 讛讬讻诇. And the 注讝专讛 is the yard. When you build that, 讘讜谞讬诐 讘讗讘谞讬诐 讙讚讜诇讜转, see, with big rocks. 讗诐 诇讗 诪爪讗讜 讗讘谞讬诐, if they didn't find rocks. Rocks are natural, you chop them out of the mountain. If you didn't have that, 讘讜谞讬诐 讘诇讘谞讬诐, then you can make bricks. You take cement and you make bricks out of it. Then he says another thing, 讜讗讬谉 诪驻住诇讬谉 讗转 讗讘谞讬 讛讘谞讬谉 讘讛专 讛讘讬转, when you have to smooth out this, stones of the building, and it's going to say later it can't have a 驻讙讬诪讛, so it I mean, when you smooth it out, they had to do it outside of the 讛专 讛讘讬转, they couldn't do it there. 讗诇讗 诪驻住诇讬谉 讗讜转谉, they would smooth it, they would, I don't know how they translate, chisel. Chisel it. 讜住讜转转讬谉 讗讜转谉, they would smooth it out, 诪讘讞讜抓, outside of the 讛专 讛讘讬转. 讜讗讞专 讻讱 诪讻谞讬住讬谉 讗讜转谉 诇讘谞讬谉, then they would bring it in to use in the 讘谞讬谉. But they couldn't chisel it, or to do all these things inside 讛专 讛讘讬转. 砖谞讗诪专, because it says, 讗讘谞讬诐 讙讚讜诇讜转 讗讘谞讬诐 讬拽专讜转 诇讬住讚 讛讘讬转 讗讘谞讬 讙讝讬转, that you should have big stones, expensive stones, to make 讗讘谞讬 讙讝讬转. 讙讝讬转 means actually that they were cut. But 讗讬讚讱, the other pasuk says, 讜讛诪拽讘讜转 讜讛讙专讝谉, the hammers and the, the, the, the, the axes, 讻诇 讻诇讬 讘专讝诇 诇讗 谞砖诪注 讘讘讬转 讘讛讘谞讜转讜, was not heard in the 讘讬转. That means you could hear it, you could do it outside, but in the 讘讬转, which means in the 讛专 讛讘讬转, in the area there, you couldn't do it, so they had to prepare it all from before, outside. 讜讗讬谉 讘讜谞讬诐 讘讜 注抓 讘讜诇讟 讻诇诇, you can't have any wood. Now, he says, not stam you can't have wood. You could have if you have to, but 讘讜诇讟, wood that you could see that sticks out, you can't have. 讗诇讗 讗讜 讘讗讘谞讬诐 讗讜 讘诇讘谞讬诐 讜住讬讚, or with stones, or with bricks with plaster. 讜讗讬谉 注讜砖讬谉 讗讻住讚专讗讜转 砖诇 注抓 讘讻诇 讛注讝专讛, you couldn't make any porches, like made of wood, in the whole 注讝专讛, 讗诇讗 讗讜 砖诇 讗讘谞讬诐 讗讜 砖诇 诇讘谞讬诐, or stones, or bricks. And therefore there's a big she'elah, what about the 诇砖讻转 讛注抓? See that, later on we're going to learn, there's two things: there's 诇砖讻转 讛注爪讬诐 and there's 诇砖讻转 讛注抓. 诇砖讻转 讛注爪讬诐 is the 诇砖讻讛 where you kept the wood. That's something else. But 诇砖讻转 讛注抓 seems to mean that it's a 诇砖讻讛, the room was made of wood. It was covered with plaster, with cement. So one peshat is that it was covered, you couldn't see it, it wasn't 讘讜诇讟. But another one, that this was not, the 讗讬住讜专 is only next, close to the 诪讝讘讞. Which means from 注讝专转 讻讛谞讬诐 and on. But it's, when it says the 注讝专讛, see the 注讝专讛 had different parts: you had the building and then you had the place where the Kohanim with the Mizbeach and everything, then you had a little area called 注讝专转 讬砖专讗诇, and then you had the big square called 注讝专转 谞砖讬诐. 注讝专转 谞砖讬诐 you were allowed, even 注讝专转 讬砖专讗诇 you were allowed. The whole thing is from 注讝专转 讻讛谞讬诐, which where the 注讝专转 讻讛谞讬诐 started by 砖注专 谞讬拽谞讜专. There was the wall, and there was a gate called 砖注专 谞讬拽谞讜专, and from that area and on was 注讝专转 讻讛谞讬诐. That's the problem, according to many shitot. And wasn't, when the mizbeach covered, the wood was covered with gold, or copper? 讛讬讛 诇讜 诪讝讘讞? That was in the, in the 诪砖讻谉, not in the Beit HaMikdash. Oh, not in the Beit HaMikdash. We'll see how it was in, in a minute. 讜诪专爪驻讬谉 讗转 讻诇 讛注讝专讛 讘讗讘谞讬诐 讬拽专讜转, and you would line up the floor with stones. There was a floor with sand, and they would have a floor of stones. 谞注拽专讛 讗讘谉, if one stone was, and it was 诪讞讜讘专 诇拽专拽注, it was connected to the ground, but if one got disconnected, 讗祝 注诇 驻讬 砖注讜诪讚转 讘诪拽讜诪讛, even though it's still in the just right place, but if one of these squares, got disconnected. 讛讜讗讬诇 讜谞转拽诇拽诇, since it's spoiled, pasul, it's pasul. 讜讗住讜专 诇讻讛谉 讛注讜讘讚 诇注诪讜讚 注诇讬讛 讘砖注转 注讘讜讚讛. The Kohen is not allowed to stand there by the 注讘讜讚讛, 注讚 砖转拽讘注 讘讗专抓, till you establish it in the ground. Why? Because standing is part of the avodah, because the pasuk says, 诇注诪讜讚 讜诇砖专转. That's why they couldn't wear shoes, because you can't have a chatzitzah. Since the floor the standing is part of the avodah, so you have to stand on the floor of the Beit HaMikdash. And if you'd wear shoes, it would be a chatzitzah. Now, the fact that the stones that they put on the floor was not a chatzitzah between the Kohanim and the real floor, because it's 诪讞讜讘专, it's connected. The moment it gets disconnected, even though it's still in the same place, it's already a separate entity, so there is something separating between the foot of the Kohen and the floor. That's why you're not allowed to do the avodah then. Huh? No, in the mikveh would mean has to be inside the. Yeah, but if he's standing on the floor in a mikveh and there's stones, if the 讻诇讬 itself will be 诪讞讜讘专 诇, oh yeah, yeah, in order to be part of the, yeah, has to be 诪讞讜讘专. You have to fix it. Yeah, or or you don't stand on that one, so you can't stand there, you stand on another one. 讜诪爪讜讛 诪谉 讛诪讜讘讞专 诇讞讝拽 讗转 讛讘谞讬讬谉, it's a better mitzvah, the right mitzvah is to straighten the building, 讜诇讛讙讘讬讛讜, to pick it up 讻驻讬 讻讞 讛爪讬讘讜专, as much as you can. In other words, it should be as high as you can and as expensive as you can, 砖谞讗诪专, it says, 讜诇专讜诪诐 讗转 讘讬转 讗诇讜拽讬谞讜, to pick up the house of 讚'. 讜诪驻讗专讬诐 讗讜转讜, you beautify it, 讜诪讬讬驻讬谉 讻驻讬 讻讞谉, and you make it nice as much as you can. In other words, whatever you could afford. 讗诐 讬讻讜诇讬谉 诇讟讜讞 讗讜转讜 讘讝讛讘, if you could cover it with gold, 讜诇讛讙讚讬诇 诪注砖讬讜, and make it nicer, 讛专讬 讝讛 诪爪讜讛, it's a mitzvah. So, when they built the first the second Beit Hamikdash lechatchilah, they were very poor. They couldn't do anything, but as time passed, they got more and more. There were even some doors that they covered with gold. Actually, when Herod built rebuilt the second Beit Hamikdash, he fixed it up and he made painted it with a certain color, it was blue, so he wanted to change it later to gold and the Chachamim said this looks nicer because it looks like waves of the ocean that's made it. But be'etzem, if you're able to, you should do it with gold. Yeah. Then he goes weiter:
讗讬谉 讘讜谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 讘诇讬诇讛, you're not allowed to build the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 at night, 砖谞讗诪专, it says, 讜讘讬讜诐 讛讜拽诐 讛诪砖讻谉, at the day that he picked up and put up the 诪砖讻谉, 讘讬讜诐 诪拽讬诪讬诐 讜诇讗 讘诇讬诇讛, you could pick it up at the day, not at night. Yeah, but the limud is that's when they made it, see, 讘讬讜诐, mobile one that you would put together, so the picking up is called. Here, every part of the building is called part of the picking up. 讜注讜住拽讬谉 讘讘谞讬讬谉 诪注诇讜转 讛砖讞专 注讚 爪讗转 讛讻讜讻讘讬诐, they would work from alos hashachar till tzeis hakochavim. In other words, it's not a peshat that there was times where they had to build the whole time, but at night they can't. 讜讛讻诇 讞讬讬讘讬诐 诇讘谞讜转 讜诇住注讚 讘注爪诪谉 讜讘诪诪讜谞诐, everyone is obligated to to build, to help, whether you could do it yourself or give money. 讗谞砖讬诐 讜谞砖讬诐, men and women, 讻砖诐 砖讘诪拽讚砖 讛诪讚讘专, like the Mikdash in the midbar, which is the Mishkan. Ai, the famous kashya, if you can't build it at night, so it's a 诪爪讜转 注砖讛 砖讛讝诪谉 讙专诪讗, and being that 谞砖讬诐 驻讟讜专讜转, so how could you say they're chayav? So, the Rebbe brings the Rogatchover. The Rogatchover says that the mitzvah is not to build the Beit Hamikdash, the mitzvah is to have the Beit Hamikdash built. So, the actual ac- action you can't do at night. To have the Beit Hamikdash built, that's anytime, there's a mitzvah always. Therefore, the women are also obligated, it's not called a 诪爪讜转 注砖讛 砖讛讝诪谉 讙专诪讗. See, even though the 诇砖讜谉 in the Rambam in the beginning is not exactly that way, the Rambam says, 诪爪讜转 注砖讛 诇注砖讜转 讘讬转 诇讛'. Which seems to be saying the mitzvah is to make, to do, but he 讟讬讬讟砖讟 that's that's the practical part of it. Someone asks you: \"How do you fulfill the mitzvah?\" By building, by making it. But the 转讜讻谉 of the mitzvah is that it should be. The same like by tefillin, the difference between 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 讬讚 and 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 专讗砖. 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 讬讚, it says, 讜拽砖专转诐 诇讗讜转 注诇 讬讚讱, you shall tie, the mitzvah is the putting on. By 专讗砖, it says, 讜讛讬讜 诇讟讜讟驻转, let it be. So, by the 砖诇 专讗砖 it is not a mitzvah of putting on, the mitzvah is it should be on. So, as long as it's on, you mekayem every second the mitzvah. Mah she'ein kein the 砖诇 讬讚, the mitzvah is to put on. So, lemashal, for a person, in theory, I'm just giving an example, I don't know if the Rogatchover says that this example, if a person has tefillin at night, which he shouldn't have, but let's say he has, and the morning comes, does he have to take it off again to put it on? The 讬讚 for sure, because the mitzvah is to put on, 拽砖专转. But the 砖诇 专讗砖 could be not, because it's on 讻讘专 and it fulfills the 讜讛讬讜. It's still a she'eilah, maybe it's 转注砖讛 讜诇讗 诪谉 讛注砖讜讬, but I'm saying by the theory of it is this. You know, by 谞砖讬诐, you can say it's like an answer also. For example, by tzedakah, tzedakah you're going to work and you're saving money, you say, \"I'm going to give tzedakah.\" That's not a 诪爪讜转 注砖讛 砖讛讝诪谉 讙专诪讗. Right, no, I'm saying, but you you cannot say on a person, for example, a person is is going to do is tzedakah, at the time that he's going to work, he's not giving tzedakah, but it's a whole part of the preparation of doing the actual mitzvah of having the money, because that's where the money you give to tzedakah, or or the ma'aser, whatever. No, that's what I'm saying. I'm saying so, but you say that the women, they're not really, you say, how are they chayav? So what what did you say the the explanation is? The explanation is because they just giving, helping. It's helping, it's not really Helping to have it done. To have the result, yeah, yeah. In Vayakhel they gave more than the men. By the Mishkan. Yeah. By Mikdash I don't know, by Mishkan. Mishkan. Yeah, at the Mishkan. Like Pischei Teshuva says, Chanukah, instead of saying 讻讬 讛讜讗 讛讬讛 讻讬 讛讜讗 讛讬讛 砖诐. Oh, because it was Esther, Chanukah. Why? Why we avoid saying 讻讬 讛讜讗 讛讬讛 something like Chanukah? Yeah. 讻讬 讛讜讗 讛讬讛 砖诐. 讻讬 讛讜讗 means he did it, Chanukah is the result. She was in it, she was in it, yeah, yeah. 讜讗讬谉 诪讘讟诇讬谉 转讬谞讜拽讜转 砖诇 讘讬转 专讘谉 诇讘谞讬谉. And
you're not allowed to stop learning with children for building the Beit HaMikdash. That's how important children's learning is. You hear that? For children to learn is more important than building the Beit HaMikdash. Wow. Always here, yeah. And what we're learning, it's interesting, learning this halacha, which is how to build the Beit HaMikdash, is more important than the building itself. Because to learn is everybody has to. And to stop them from learning, let's say they have children learning and you need them to help, you can't stop them from learning and build the Beit HaMikdash and go to help. By the Chassidut, we learn about the same things. In this maamar we learned that Talmud Torah is greater than mitzvot that you could do through somebody else. Lemashal, if a person is learning the halachot of Terumah, then he has to take off Terumah, but he could send a shaliach. So the din is you're not allowed to stop learning, and send a shaliach. So like this, you're learning how to do Terumah, so the main thing is how to do it. Comes b'foal how to do it, then I don't do it, send somebody else, it's more important you're learning. But that's Talmud Torah. What is the age of a child, 18, 15? What is the Truth is, I don't think it means davka a child. What? I don't think it means davka a child. Talmud Torah is not anything you're not 讚讜讞讛 转诇诪讜讚 转讜专讛. And it's the same, there's 讚讜讞讛 讘谞讬谉 转讬谞讜拽讜转 砖诇 讘讬转 专讘谉. Then they should go build the Beit HaMikdash. Sure. Yeah, they're not learning. 讜讗讬谉 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 讚讜讞讛 讬讜诐 讟讜讘. Building the Beit HaMikdash is not 讚讜讞讛 讬讜诐 讟讜讘, certainly not 讚讜讞讛 砖讘转, but it's not even Yom Tov. 讛诪讝讘讞 讗讬谉 注讜砖讬谉 讗讜转讜 讗诇讗 讘谞讬谉 讗讘谞讬诐. Some some korbanot is 讚讜讞讛 砖讘转. Yeah. You see, the Beit HaMikdash is necessary for korbanot, but the building itself is not 讚讜讞讛 砖讘转, but some korbanot is 讚讜讞讛 砖讘转 like Korban Pesach. Yeah, not only Korban Pesach, korban tamid every, korban musaf, all these korbanot, they shachat it, they burned it and 讛诪讝讘讞 讗讬谉 注讜砖讬谉 讗讜转讜 讗诇讗 讘谞讬谉 讗讘谞讬诐. The mizbeach was only made of stone. 砖谞讗诪专, it says Torah no, stone, it has to be stone. 讜讝讛 砖谞讗诪专 讘转讜专讛 诪讝讘讞, 诪讝讘讞 讗讚诪讛 转注砖讛 诇讬, make me a mizbeach of earth, of that means 砖讬讛讬讛 诪讞讜讘专 讘讗讚诪讛, that it's connected to the ground. That means 砖诇讗 讬讘谞讛讜 注诇 讙讘讬 讻讬驻讬谉 讜诇讗 注诇 讙讘讬 诪讞讬诇讜转. Don't build it on stilts or on a cave, like a hollow place, under it should not be hollow. 讜讝讛 砖谞讗诪专 讜讗诐 诪讝讘讞 讗讘谞讬诐, and eye the Torah says, if you will make a mizbeach of 讗讘谞讬诐, is mashma that it doesn't have to be of 讗讘谞讬诐, 诪驻讬 讛砖诪讜注讛 诇诪讚讜 讞讻诪讬诐 砖讗讬谞讛 专砖讜转 讗诇讗 讞讜讘讛. It doesn't mean if, if you want you could or not, you must.
There are three 讗诐s in the Torah, actually there are more, but the 诇砖讜谉 is 讙' 讗诐讬诐 which is is Rashbam says, 讻诇 讗诐 讜讗诐 砖讘转讜专讛 讞讜讘讛 讞讜抓 诪讙'. 讗诐 诪讝讘讞 讗讘谞讬诐 转注砖讛 诇讬, 讗诐 讻住祝 转诇讜讛 讗转 注诪讬, if you will lend money to a poor man, it's not if, you must lend money, if you have money you have to lend, and the other one is 讜讗诐 讬讛讬讛 讛讬讜讘诇. Huh? They're all are reshut, yeah. But what did I say? A chovah? All are reshut except three are chovah, yeah. All are 专砖讜转, 讻诇 讗诐 讜讗诐 砖讘转讜专讛 专砖讜转 讞讜抓 诪讙'. There's an interesting taytsh the Rebbe taytsh here, what's that 讻诇 讗诐 讜讗诐? Every time it says 讗诐? Why does it say 讗诐 讜讗诐? It should say 讻诇 讗诐 砖讘转讜专讛. So the Rebbe, whether it says 讗诐 or it says 讜讗诐. Because sometimes it says 讗诐, sometimes it says 讜讗诐. And by 讜讗诐 there's a sevara to say difference. The Rebbe says 讻诇 讗诐 讜讗诐, whether it says 讗诐 or 讜讗诐, it's all 专砖讜转 except three. And then there's a fourth one that the Rebbe that they bring and that's, huh? No, that's because Now, in case that if It's like saying, I'll give you 讙砖诪讬诐 if you'll learn the Torah. Doesn't mean if you have a right not to. But here it says if the 讬讜讘诇 will be, it doesn't mean that you should bring the 讬讜讘诇 away. Oh, the fourth, there's another one is this one, 讜讗诐 讬专讞讬讘 讛' 讗诇拽讬讱 讗转 讙讘讜诇讱. If Hashem will broaden your land, then you have to add three more 注专讬 诪拽诇讟. So it's not if, when. When. See, but there you can't say the words 讞讜讘讛 or 专砖讜转, because it's not something that we do. Here means should you do it. That's why it's not. But there's another one also, besides that. I have to think of which one. Yeah,
讻诇 讗讘谉 砖谞驻讙诪讛 讻讚讬 砖转讞讙讜专 讘讛 爪讬驻讜专谉, 讻爪讬驻讜专谉 住讻讬谉 砖诇 砖讞讬讟讛, any 讗讘谉 that's not smooth, that has a 驻讙讬诪讛, has a, what's it called? A chip, whatever, a chip that's like by a, like 讞诇祝 of 砖讞讬讟讛, that when your nail will go by, your nail will get stuck, like this 住讻讬谉, like the knife of 砖讞讬讟讛, 讛专讬 讝讜 驻住讜诇讛 诇讻讘砖 讜诇诪讝讘讞, so it's 驻住讜诇 for the 讻讘砖 and the 诪讝讘讞. 砖谞讗诪专, it says: 讗讘谞讬诐 砖诇诪讜转 转讘谞讛 讗转 诪讝讘讞 讛砖诐, make it of whole stones. Must be like what was it called? Like Persians they make all their rugs? Yeah. Like they do by hand things. In the olden days they used to make very polished stones. Stones made beautifully and Yeah, but the difference is there, if it has a 驻讙讬诪讛, you could He's there at even it out. Nowadays you can, by the 诪讝讘讞 you can't. In those days, we, we Yeah, that's what's like Obviously. That was art. All part of civilization. Yeah. It's stones. So you can't have it with a 驻讙讬诪讛, and you can't have it touched with metal. See, the 讛讬讻诇, we said, you could touch with metal. Ela mai, you can't do it inside the 讛专 讛讘讬转, you got to do it outside. But here you can't have it touched with metal at all.
讜诪讛讬讻谉 讛讬讜 诪讘讬讗讬谉 讗讘谞讬 诪讝讘讞? So where would they bring the 讗讘谞讬 诪讝讘讞? If it was so, 诪讘转讜诇转 讛拽专拽注. 讘转讜诇转 讛拽专拽注 means a, an earth that was never, never shoveled. 讞讜驻专讬谉, you would dig it, 注讚 砖诪讙讬注讬谉 诇诪拽讜诐 砖谞讬讻专 砖讗讬谞讜 诪拽讜诐 注讘讜讚讛 讜讘谞讬讬谉, you dig and you dig till you see this is fresh, it was never dug, never used for building. 讜诪讜爪讬讗讬谉 诪诪谞讜 讗讘谞讬诐, and you would take the stones from there, 讗讜 诪谉 讛讬诐 讛讙讚讜诇, or from the, from the ocean or from the, the sea, 讜讘讜谞讬诐 诪讛诐, and you would build from there. 讜讻谉 讗讘谞讬 讛讛讬讻诇 讜讛注讝专讜转 砖诇诪讜转 讛讬讜, the 讗讘谞讬 讛讛讬讻诇 also were whole, but it doesn't mean that they couldn't fix it. This you couldn't fix. You couldn't find a stone that had a 驻讙讬诪讛 and then rub it off and make it smooth. But the stones of the 注讝专讛, you could. But nevertheless, when, when it was put into the 注讝专讛, it had to be smooth. If they pick it out, they could smooth it? If what? If it has a 驻讙讬诪讛? Yeah, by the 注讝专讛. Couldn't do it there, though. Mishkan, the mizbeach was hollow, wasn't it? Huh? Not here, yeah.
Different in the Mishkan, yeah, it was different in the Mishkan, yeah. Huh? That could be also. No. No. Not for the mizbeach and not for the 讛讬讻诇. But for the 讛讬讻诇 you could rub it and smooth it out, but for the mizbeach you can't. It's just another halacha. 讗讘谞讬 讛讬讻诇 讜讛注讝专讜转, the stones of the 讛讬讻诇 or the 注讝专讛 砖谞驻讙诪讜 讜砖谞讙诪诪讜 驻住讜诇讬谉, if it became a 驻讙诐, or got a hole, it's 驻住讜诇, 讜讗讬谉 诇讛诐 驻讚讬讜谉, you can't redeem it, 讗诇讗 谞讙谞讝讬谉, you have to hide it. But this, oh, could be after it was, became and you can't reuse it. But lechatchila, before when you find it, you could smooth it out. You can't really take it out. We No, no, you could take it out, and put in another one. Put in another one, but Yeah, you can't use Right, can't use it. Right, yeah, right, that's what I said, yeah. 讻诇 讗讘谉 砖谞讙注 讘讛 讘专讝诇, but any 讗讘谉 that even metal touched it, 讗祝 注诇 驻讬 砖诇讗 谞驻讙诪讛, even if it didn't get a 驻讙诐, 驻住讜诇讛 诇讘谞讬讬谉 讛诪讝讘讞, for the 诪讝讘讞, 讜诇讘谞讬讬谉 讛讻讘砖. 砖谞讗诪专, it says: 讻讬 讞专讘讱 讛谞驻转 注诇讬讛 讜转讞诇诇讛, because metal is like a sword and the sword is made 诇拽爪专 讬诪讬讜 砖诇 讗讚诐, to kill a person, and this is the mizbeach is made to be 诪讗专讬讱 讬诪讬诐. 讜讛讘讜谞讛 讗讘谉 砖谞讙注 讘讛 讘专讝诇 讘诪讝讘讞 讗讜 讘讻讘砖, 诇讜拽讛, if a person would take a stone that touched metal and put it in the mizbeach or the 讻讘砖, you get malkot, it's a lav! 砖谞讗诪专, it says: 诇讗 转讘谞讛 讗转讛谉 讙讝讬转, don't build them 讙讝讬转. See, by the, the stones of the 讛讬讻诇 it says they use 讙讝讬转. And 讙讝讬转 means cut stones, have to be smooth, but it was cut. Here it says it can't be 讙讝讬转. 讜讛讘讜谞讛 讗讘谉 驻讙讜诐, 注讜讘专 讘注砖讛, if it's 讗讘谉 驻讙讜诐, but it didn't touch metal, so this lav doesn't apply. But there's another lav, not another lav, there's a aseh: 讗讘谞讬诐 砖诇诪讜转! There's a aseh it has to be complete, not a 驻讙诐. So for that you wouldn't get malkot, but if you make it, if it touched, if you used it if it touched metal, then you get malkot.
How did they shape these stones if you can't touch metal? They use the stones the way they are. Oh, nothing Yeah, then they put it, it will say later. No, that's if you have to cut it, but they didn't have to cut it. Yeah, you plaster in the whole thing, you mix it with plaster and then you make the shapes. You have to hide it. Could be the same place where they hid the stones of the Chashmonaim or the There's a place where they kept the stones that were 谞转讞诇诇 through the through the 讬讜讜谞讬诐, could be that's the same place. It's a genizah.
