Welcome to the second part of a three-part series of learning the מאמר ואתה תצוה, the last מאמר that the רבי was מגיה, the last מאמר that the רבי gave out. And we learned last week the first part up to סעיף ו׳. We are holding now by סעיף ו׳. In the first הוצאה of the ספר המאמרים מלוקט, this is on in חלק ו׳ page קל״ב, where we're holding, that's סעיף ו׳. In the second הוצאה, it's in the third volume, page ל״ז. Before we continue, I will just חזר over בקיצור what the רבי said till now. He quoted the פסוק, ואתה תצוה את בני ישראל ויקחו אליך שמן זית זך כתית למאור להעלות נר תמיד, which means, you shall command the בני ישראל and they should take to you pure olive oil crushed to illuminate, for the for the for the luminary, in order to bring up to light the נר, the candle that is always, which is the מנורה. And the רבי asked four קשיות. One קושיא is, why does it say ואתה תצוה and not like it says always, צו? A second קושיא, why did he have to bring the oil to משה when really אהרן was the one to light the מנורה? The third קושיא is, why does it say כתית למאור, it should have said כתית להאיר? מאור is the luminary, להאיר is the to light. And the other שאלה was, how come here it says נר תמיד, and in another פסוק it says מערב עד בוקר? And the רבי brought what the פריערדיקער רבי says in the מאמר דיבור המתחיל ואתה תצוה from תרפ״ז, he says that the word צו also, תצוה, צו, means not only to command, but also to connect, and that's the פשט in the פסוק, ואתה תצוה את בני ישראל, you shall connect the אידן, that's why it says ואתה תצוה, you shall connect the אידן to the אייבערשטער, and ויקחו אליך שמן זית זך, and automatically they will bring to you, they will bring something into משה more than what משה had, they will give a מעלה into משה. And that basically answered the first two קשיות of the מאמר. And then the רבי, in order to explain it, brought that משה רבינו is called רעיא מהימנא, which also has a meaning that he is the one the shepherd of אמונה. That means that משה רבינו makes the אמונה that אידן have should go into a פנימיות. And this is not only משה רבינו, but it's all the התפשטותא דמשה שבכל דור ודור. Every generation you have a התפשטות of משה, and that's their ענין also. And מרדכי in his generation, because we know מרדכי was like משה in his generation, did the same thing, that his ענין was to מחזק the אמונה by the אידן. And then in the מאמר it continues that כתית למאור, that when there is a crushing, when there is a לב נשבר ונדכא, a broken heart, there is a problem, there is צרות, so then you reach the level of מאור, מאור is the עצם, which answers the third question why it says the word מאור, not להאיר, because it's telling you that through כתית you reach the מאור. But the question that the רבי asked, what's the connection between these two things in the מאמר, that he explains what משה רבינו's ענין is, and the התפשטותא דמשה to מחזק the אמונה, to bring אמונה in a פנימיות, and then he says כתית למאור, through כתית you get to מאור, what's the connection between the two things? So the רבי started saying that maybe the connection is in a different way, because in the מאמר there he continues by saying that the אידן by time of פורים, they accepted something that they started by מתן תורה. That means that there was more by פורים time than there was by מתן תורה. And the question he asked, how can you say that by מתן תורה there was such a great גילוי, much greater than any other גילויים, and by time of פורים they were in a very low מדרגה, so how could you say it was higher? So the answer he gives in the מאמר there, because by time of פורים, that came through מסירות נפש. That מרדכי brought them to the ענין of מסירות נפש, and through the מסירות נפש, that's when you reach a higher מדרגה, they reached a higher מדרגה than it was in the time of מתן תורה. So לכאורה you could say the connection is that כתית למאור, the fact that he says that כתית brings you to the level of מאור, that's connected to this פרט that he said that it comes through מסירות נפש. But not, it's not connected to the idea that משה רבינו and the התפשטותא דמשה are מחזק the אמונה. But the רבי says from the מאמר it's not משמע like that, it's משמע in the מאמר that לפועל, the connection is also through the ענין of משה רבינו. So what's the connection between כתית למאור and the ענין of משה רבינו, that משה and the התפשטותא דמשה are מחזק the אמונה? So here in סעיף ה׳ the רבי started explaining that this ענין that אידן have אמונה פשוטה could come because of two reasons, there are two two ענינים here. One it is because the נשמה למעלה sees אלוקות, and since it sees אלוקות, it's משפיע also to the נשמה down here. And then there's another ענין, that the עצם הנשמה is one with the אייבערשטער, and ממילא if it's one with the אייבערשטער, the נשמה down here also has that נקודה that it's one with אייבערשטער, so has אמונה פשוטה, doesn't have to go into other ענינים. And the רבי explained that the difference between the two is that the אמונה פשוטה that a איד has that comes because there is ראיה באלוקות that the נשמה למעלה sees, that causes down here, by the איד down here, אמונה but בדרך מקיף. And the fact that the עצם הנשמה the עצם הנשמה is is one with with the אייבערשטער That brings the אמונה by a איד in an אופן פנימי. Why? Because since the עצם הנשמה is the עצם of every part of the נשמה, so the part of the נשמה that's down here also has in it the עצם. And since the עצם is one with the אייבערשטער, וממילא the נשמה down here also has this אמונה פשוטה because it has the עצם. And ממילא the רבי says, this is the connection between the two ענינים. This ענין of כתית למאור, which we said brings the ענין of מאור, is connected to the ענין of what משה רבינו did and what the other התפשטותא דמשה בכל דרא ודרא do, that they bring, they're מגלה the the אמונה in a פנימיות. How are they doing the אמונה in a פנימיות? They do it because they're מגלה the עצם הנשמה. Because as we said, when is there אמונה in a פנימיות? If it comes from the עצם הנשמה. So since so, this is the connection: that because משה רבינו and the התפשטותא דמשה, they bring out, they're מגלה the אמונה in a פנימיות, which means the עצם הנשמה. That's why it says מאור, because מאור refers to the עצם הנשמה. And then the רבי said, this is also connected to the fact that כתית למאור, that when do you really get the מאור? When it's כתית. But how is that connected to the ענין of משה רבינו being ממשיך אמונה in a פנימיות? That's what the רבי is going to continue further in the מאמר, to show the connection of כתית למאור that משה רבינו and the התפשטותא דמשה are מגלה the עצם הנשמה, and that גילוי of עצם הנשמה is connected to the ענין of כתית, which is crushing. So we'll start here סעיף ו'. והענין הוא, the ענין is like this: דזה שהאמונה דישראל הוא באופן שמסר נפשו על זה, this that the אמונה of a איד is in the way that he is actually מוסר נפש, gives up his life for it, ובעיקר באמונה שמצד עצם הנשמה. Mainly it comes from the second level, the fact that the אמונה is because of the עצם הנשמה. Not the אמונה is because the נשמה למעלה sees אלקות, so the נשמה down here also feels the the אמונה, it's not because of that. When do you have the ענין of מסירות נפש? If it's because it If it comes from the עצם הנשמה. Because דהאמונה מצד זה שהוא רואה, the אמונה that a איד has because they see, מזליה חזי like we said before that the מזל meaning the חלק הנשמה למעלה sees, הגם שהיא בתוקף גדול, so when you see something, it's very strong. וממילא whatever you see is אפגעלייגט like we explained before. כי ידוע like we know דאימותו מצד הראיה היא אמתות גדולה ביותר. We know when something is אפגעלייגט in one's mind because he saw it, is the greatest אפלייג, the greatest internalization that is possible. That we know. And in הערה 33 the רבי brings the גמרא where it says שלכן אין עד נעשה דיין. That's why an עד cannot become a דיין. To explain the גמרא a little bit: the גמרא says that when it comes to capital cases, the person who saw himself the person who deserves to get killed, if he's the one that saw it, he's the עד, he cannot become the judge. And the גמרא says why? Because בנוגע judging capital punishment the פסוק says ושפטו העדה והצילו העדה. You have to have the ability to judge the person, to find him guilty, and you have to have the ability to find him innocent. And the גמרא says כיון דחזי לא חזי לזכותא. A person who saw him do it himself will never see a זכות, will never be able to say that he's innocent. And part of the requirement of a בית דין, of a דיין is to be able to see that he's innocent. So what do we see from here? That when you see something, you can't see anything else. It's so strong in your mind. Because if you didn't see it yourself, but you heard from two witnesses that this person did this and this עבירה that deserves to get killed, and על פי תורה you have to believe the witnesses after you investigate, you have to believe them. The תורה says believe the two witnesses. So you know for sure it's true. And nevertheless it's possible for the judge to be able to see that the person is innocent. But if you saw it yourself, the גמרא says that you can't see. So obviously this shows that seeing something is the great אפלייג. It's a אימות גדולה ביותר, a great אפלייג. So לכאורה when we say that נשמה has אמונה because the נשמה למעלה sees אלקות, so therefore it's אמונה, so he says מכל מקום, but still, כיון שהאמונה שלו היא מצד סיבה, since the אמונה that it has is because of a reason, מצד זה שרואה, because it saw it. It's not something that comes from inside itself. Because it saw something, it see something, ואינה קשורה בעצם מציאותו, it's not connected to the עצם מציאות, what he is himself, אינה מוכרחת שימסור נפשו על זה. You not, it doesn't have to be that you have to be מוסר נפש. In other words, it's possible to see something and you know it's a hundred percent true because you saw it, and nevertheless to do something against it. It doesn't mean you have to give up your life for it. We find a lot of times in חסידות it says that a person could do something against his nature. If you see something, naturally you know it's true, and nevertheless you can go against it. Just to give an example, which I don't know if it exactly fits here, but the example that says that on שבת אפילו an עם הארץ will not lie. And the רבי asks, but we do find people lying on שבת? And he answers: the טבע is not to lie. A person could go against his own טבע. So על דרך זה, it's not exactly the same, but על דרך זה here is also, that a person, even though he sees אלקות he sees the נשמה sees אלוקות, and that makes him have the proper אמונה from seeing, it still doesn't mean that you must be מוסר נפש on that. וזה שאמונה דישראל הוא באופן שמוסר נפשו על זה, the fact that a איד through his because of his אמונה is מוסר נפש, ומפני שאמונה באלוקותו היא עצם שלו, because the אמונה is the second ענין, which is this is his עצם. Since the עצם of a איד is connected to the אייבערשטער, that's why he has אמונה, ולכן אי אפשר כלל שיכפור, חס ושלום, you cannot deny, because you can't go against yourself. This is basically the ענין of the אייבערשטער is yourself, so a person can't go against himself. We know that says in שולחן ערוך, and the רבי brings different places, that something that goes against your עצם מציאות, you can't even make a mistake. Even a בהמה it says will not jump into fire, saying it made a mistake and jumped into fire. It's something that's נוגע to its whole life, it can't do that. So a person cannot do something against himself. So if you have the אמונה that comes because this is your עצם, then that's why you have to be מוסר נפש. מה שאין כן if the אמונה comes because you saw, you see אלוקות, so even though you see it and that it's a great בליק, nevertheless it's possible not to be מוסר נפש. So when we say that a איד is מוסר נפש because of his אמונה, it is because there is the גילוי of this עצם הנשמה, which is one with the אייבערשטער. ועל פי זה יש לבאר, based on that we could explain, מה שכתוב במאמר, it says in the מאמר, וזה שמשה הוא רעיא מהימנא, this that משה is called the רעיא מהימנא, the shepherd of faith, שהוא זן ומפרנס את האמונה, he feeds the אמונה, in other words he brings the אמונה in the פנימיות, וגם בנוגע לרועי ישראל שבכל דור, it says it also applies to all the shepherds, meaning all the נשיאים of all the generations, דהתפשטותא דמשה שבכל דור ודור. And what do they do? שמחזקים את האמונה דישראל, they also, just like משה, his ענין was to feed the אמונה, to bring it in the פנימיות, also all the התפשטותא דמשה of all generations, they also strengthen the אמונה by אידן, שיעמדו במסירות נפש בקיום התורה ומצוות, they strengthen the אמונה that אידן should go on מסירות נפש to keep תורה and מצוות. So he's comparing, he's connecting the two: משה רבינו, what he does, with the נשיאים of other generations what they do, that they strengthen the אמונה. But לכאורה, the רבי is going to ask, the two are not the same. דלכאורה, זה שמשה זן ומפרנס את האמונה, this that משה רבינו feeds the אמונה, strengthens the אמונה, הוא כמבואר בכמה מקומות, וגם במאמר זה עצמו, it says in many places and also in this מאמר, how does משה strengthen the אמונה, means how does משה bring the אמונה in the פנימיות? על ידי שמשפיע לישראל דעת באלוקות, he's משפיע in אידן understanding and knowledge in אלוקות. That's how he strengthens the אמונה. שעל ידי זה בא האמונה בפנימיות. He makes them really, really understand it, in such a way that it's internalized and it's in the פנימיות. וזה שרועי ישראל שבכל דור מחזקים את האמונה, and this that the נשיאים of all generations they strengthen the אמונה, המבואר במאמר זה, which is written in this מאמר, the way he explains in this מאמר, הוא שהאמונה דישראל היא תהיה באופן דמסירות נפש, that the אמונה should be in מסירות נפש. לכאורה the accomplishments are not the same. What משה accomplished by making אמונה in a פנימיות means he made made them understand it, made them have a בליק, made them have the true understanding, recognition, the פנימיות'דיקע recognition of השם. And when he says the same thing happens by the other נשיאים, there he says they bring it to מסירות נפש. That's a different ענין. That's bringing to מסירות נפש, it's not the same thing. How does he put them together? על פי הנ״ל יש לומר, but based on what we just said we could say, שעיקר ענין דראיא מהימנא הוא זה שהוא זן ומפרנס את האמונה עצמה, when we say that רעיא מהימנא means that he feeds the אמונה, and he brings the אמונה in the פנימיות, means that he feeds the אמונה itself, שהאמונה תהיה לא רק משום מצד הגילויים, that the אמונה that a איד has should not be connected because it comes of גילויים. That means, מצד זה שהנשמה שלמעלה רואה אלוקות, because the נשמה sees אלוקות, אלא מצד עצם הנשמה. When is, as we said before, that when is really the time when אמונה is really in a פנימיות? That's when it comes from the עצם הנשמה. Like we said before, the fact that the נשמה למעלה sees אלוקות and down here it has an effect down here, it's still not in the real פנימיות. When is it really in the פנימיות? When it comes from the second ענין, when it comes from the fact that the עצם הנשמה is one with אלוקות and you feel the עצם הנשמה. וזה, so ממילא the עיקר is when you have the אמונה in that פנימיות because the עצם הנשמה. When, what does, where does it express itself the fact that you have the גילוי the feeling of the עצם הנשמה? That's in מסירות נפש, that we said before. If you only have the first ענין that you see אלוקות and therefore it's a בליק, אמונה פשוטה, it doesn't necessarily mean that you'll come to מסירות נפש. So when do you have מסירות נפש? If you have the אמונה because the עצם הנשמה. So it comes out that when we say that the ענין of the נשיא is to bring the אמונה in that פנימיות, which comes from the עצם הנשמה, where do we see it? When it comes to מסירות נפש. So the עיקר is good when it comes to brings it to מסירות נפש. וזה שמשה ממשיך את האמונה בפנימיות בדעת והשגה, By משה רבינו, it doesn't say he brought them to מסירת נפש, he brought them to have the דעת, the understanding, the השגה in אלקות, the אמת'ע apply, the internalizing of אלקות. We just said that the real real אמונה in a פנימיות is when it brings it to מסירת נפש. He said what משה did, תוצאה מזה, שהוא זן ומפרנס את האמונה עצמה. It comes like this: the אמת is the ענין of being זן ומפרנס the אמונה, to bring the אמונה in a פנימיות, is when it brings it to מסירת נפש. Now, by משה רבינו—it doesn't say these words, but by משה רבינו there was no need for מסירת נפש at that moment, so there, as a result of the fact that he was מגלה the עצם הנשמה, so that brought about also that he was able to make them understand אלקות. Which is so the real way This is only a result, a תוצאה. המשכת וגילוי האמונה כמו שהיא מצד עצם הנשמה. The fact that he taught them אלקות and זיך אפגעלייגט בדעת, that's a result of the real thing. The real thing what he did is he was מגלה in them the עצם הנשמה. That's the real thing that the job of משה רבינו and the נשיאים in all generations. And where do we really see it? When it brings to מסירת נפש. In the time of משה didn't need מסירת נפש, so there it expressed itself in the fact that they started understanding אלקות, because this is also something that will happen. If you have the feeling of of אלקות, that the עצם הנשמה, that it's one with you, automatically it'll bring you to understand it also. So משה רבינו's time, what we the way we saw it was it brought you to understand. Okay, now, like he says in סעיף ה, והמשכת האמונה בפנימיות בדעת הוא על ידי גילוי התקשרות עצמית דעצם הנשמה. He said before also that when do you have the real פנימיות'דיקע under- having a פנימיות אמונה, אמונה in a פנימיות not in a מקיף, if the גילוי דעצם הנשמה. But this is not the real real thing the way it expresses itself. The real way it expresses itself מסירת נפש. But the ענין to have the דעת is also comes because of עצם הנשמה. So משה רבינו was מגלה the עצם הנשמה, ובמילא it brought about that the אידן should have דעת. But where would we really see it? We really see it when it comes to the other נשיאים. על פי זה יש לומר, so we could see according to this, דזה ובזה שבדורות שהוצרכו למסירת נפש בפועל, this that in those generations that they really needed מסירת נפש בפועל, חיזקו רועי ישראל התפשטותא דמשה את האמונה דישראל שתהיה במסירת נפש, the shepherds of the אידן, the leaders of the אידן, which is this התפשטותא דמשה, strengthened the אמונה in such a way that they had מסירת נפש, נתגלה הענין דרעיא מהימנא, this idea that you're a רעיא מהימנא, that you feed the אמונה, and you bring the אמונה in a פנימיות. So בענין זה יתר מבמשה עצמו, by them it was expressed more than by משה himself. כי המשכת וגילוי האמונה כמו שהיא מצד עצם הנשמה, because the real המשכה and the real גילוי, where do we really see that the אמונה comes from the עצם הנשמה, שעל ידי משה והתפשטותא דיליה שבכל דור, which comes through משה, he's the one that brings it into פנימיות, and the התפשטותא דמשה of every generation does it, עיקר התגלותו הוא במסירת נפש בפועל. The main התגלות is when you have מסירת נפש בפועל. So it comes out like this: בעצם, they both did the same thing. משה רבינו and all the all the נשיאים that brought out מסירת נפש accomplished one thing, because as we said before, in order to bring אמונה in a פנימיות, it has to be when you have the גילוי דעצם הנשמה, 'cause if you have the first thing, only the fact that you see אלקות, that will not enough to bring it into פנימיות. As we said before, that only is enough to make it מקיף. When does it bring in a פנימיות? If you're מגלה the עצם הנשמה. By משה רבינו, when מסירת נפש was not needed, so there it expressed itself in a way that he taught them דעת in אלקות and זיך אפגעלייגט in their mind through אלקות, which also came in a פנימיות because it was מגלה the עצם הנשמה. But where do we really see it? We really see it in מסירת נפש. So where do we really see the job of the נשיאי ישראל, of the זן ומפרנס, to feed the אמונה, to bring the אמונה in a פנימיות? We saw it more by those נשיאים that were that made brought the אידן to the ענין of מסירת נפש more than we saw by משה רבינו himself. But really it comes even by משה רבינו it came, it wasn't נתגלה as much, but it came also from the fact that that he was מגלה the עצם הנשמה, ומצד the עצם הנשמה, you're one with אלקות and therefore you have אמונה in a פנימיות. And by משה רבינו, actually, we see it, interesting, before even משה רבינו taught the אידן. It's not only the teaching that brought it out is a result. משה רבינו, from the moment he was born, the רבי explains in a different place in לקוטי שיחות, the רבי explains that משה רבינו, from the time he was born, already started accomplishing to bring אמונה in a פנימיות. Because we know from when משה רבינו is born, right in the beginning of his birth, she put him into the basket, his mother put him into the basket, and it says she put him by שפת הים, by the edge of the ים, of the ים סוף, and not inside, because the ים the נילוס was the ים, I mean the נילוס, not the ים סוף, the נילוס was עבודה זרה, so she couldn't save him through the עבודה זרה, the רבי brings from the ראגאטשאווער. But then, when the daughter of פרעה came, and she טובל'ד herself in the water in order to be מגייר, she was מבטל the עבודה זרה, 'cause the דין is a גוי could be מבטל עבודה זרה, so the river became no more עבודה זרה, so then the basket slipped in. So it comes out here that just with the time of beginning of משה רבינו's life, just when he was born and he came out בגילוי when she was able to bring him out, cuz for three months she had to hide him, already then עבודה זרה was נתבטל. What's עבודה זרה? דעבודה זרה is not recognizing the truth of השם. So משה רבינו's מציאות being born already caused that there should be a אמונה בפנימיות, that they should not have עבודה זרה. But later on when he taught them, that really was מגלה this whole thing, that משה רבינו was מגלה in the יידן the עצם הנשמה, that the עצם הנשמה is connected to the אויבערשטער, and when they felt it, they understood to stick to אלוקות. But by the other נשיאים, where it brought them to מסירות נפש, there, as we said before, that really has to do we see from the עצם הנשמה, because in the higher the other level it not necessarily will bring you to מסירות נפש. הנה ידוע the Rebbe כותב, we know שמסירות נפש בפועל על תורה ומצוות של כל ישראל היתה בפורים, that the מסירות נפש that the יידן had on תורה ומצוות that all the יידן had, that happened on פורים time, בזמן גזירת המן, the time of המן's decree. שמסירות נפש דחנוכה, מסירות נפש you had in חנוכה בזמן גזירת יוון, the time of the גזירה of יוון, היתה בעיקר במתתיהו ובניו, it was mainly מתתיהו and his children, certain people had this מסירות נפש, but it doesn't mean all the יידן had. המסירות נפש בזמן גזירת המן היתה בכל ישראל. But the מסירות נפש that happened the time of גזירת המן, that happened by all the יידן. ועל פי זה יש לבאר, based on that we could explain מה שמובא במאמר ממדרש, in the מאמר it brings from a מדרש, שמרדכי שקול בדורו כמשה בדורו. When he spoke about every generation has התפשטותא דמשה and they also do the same thing, they bring אמונה בפנימיות, he says מרדכי did it, and then he brings a מדרש. The מדרש says that מרדכי in his generation was like משה רבינו in his generation. דגם שהתפשטותא דמשה הוא בכל דור, the התפשטותא דמשה is every generation, not only the time of מרדכי, מכל מקום איתא במדרש, in the מדרש it says שמרדכי דוקא הוא שקול בדורו כמשה בדורו. By מרדכי specifically we say it, that he was like משה רבינו. ויש לומר, so we could say שהמעלה דמרדכי היהודי, the מעלה of מרדכי היהודי, הוא שהיה רעיא מהימנא בגילוי של כל ישראל שבדורו. He was the רעיא מהימנא of all the יידן. בדוגמת משה רבינו רעיא מהימנא, just like משה רבינו who was the רעיא מהימנא, שהמשיך דעת לכל ישראל שבדורו. משה רבינו was the נשיא and he brought דעת to all the יידן in his generation. כמו מובן גם מזה שדורו של משה, because we see, we understand this, that the fact that the generation of משה, which means כל אנשי דורו, all the people in his generation, נקרא דור דעה. It's called in מדרש the דור דעה, because משה רבינו had the level of דעה, so they all had דור דעה. So משה רבינו was the רעיא מהימנא, and by him, בגילוי he was the רעיא מהימנא and he accomplished his ענין of bringing אמונה בפנימיות into every person, to the whole generation. And the same thing was with מרדכי, by מרדכי he was בגילוי the leader of all the יידן of that generation. אלא שבמשה היה גילוי ענין זה שרעיא מהימנא לכל ישראל, by משה, in which way did it express itself that he is the רעיא מהימנא of all the יידן? על ידי שהמשיך דעת בכל אנשי דורו. He was ממשיך דעת, there was no need for מסירות נפש, so he was ממשיך דעת, that they had this דעת, the understanding, the real recognition of the אויבערשטער in all the people in the generation. ובמרדכי היה גילוי ענין זה, by מרדכי the גילוי of this ענין, that he was the רעיא מהימנא of the whole generation of all the יידן, happened על ידי שגילה כח המסירות נפש שבכל אנשי דורו. It happened because he brought all the יידן to מסירות נפש. And we טאקע see all the יידן, not one ייד, as we said before in the מאמר, not one ייד even had a מחשבת חוץ, they all went on מסירות נפש, and it all was thanks to מרדכי. So in that פרט מרדכי is more similar to משה. So here the Rebbe says this seemingly בדרך אגב, cuz before he tried to explain that the ענין of משה רבינו is to bring the אמונה בפנימיות. Where do we really see it? We see it by מסירות נפש which happened by מרדכי. And בדרך אגב the Rebbe says that in one way מרדכי and משה have a lot of similarities besides the fact that he's the התפשטותא דמשה, which applies to every התפשטותא דמשה in every generation, but by him there's something more. בגילוי you were able to see that he is from the whole generation like משה רבינו, which was בגילוי to the whole generation, which means like this: all the נשיאים and all the רביים are the התפשטותא דמשה, and you always have the one that's the leader of the whole generation, he's like משה רבינו on the whole generation, but the thing is, not always is it בגילוי. Not always you see how the Rebbe is the Rebbe of everybody and accomplished everybody. Sometimes, by משה רבינו you saw it, by מרדכי you saw it. And as the Rebbe is going to say further, by the פריערדיקער רבי you saw it. The Rebbe is going to say that the פריערדיקער רבי is also included in this. And as the Rebbe explains more than once, that in the time of the פריערדיקער רבי, when he went to jail, this was נוגע to כלל ישראל, כלל ישראל gained from it. That's why in the letter that he writes after he went out of jail, was freed, he writes לא אותי בלבד גאל הקדוש ברוך הוא, not only me did השם redeem, but all the יידן. So the Rebbe explains why is this all the יידן? So he said because רוב מנין ורוב בנין most אידן, the majority of אידן, lived in that, those countries, which were the countries of communism around then. So this basically was the, the big chunk of, of כלל ישראל. So there you could see how he affected כלל ישראל. So משה רבינו is like that, and and מרדכי like that. And here the רבי says, ויש לומר we could say, על ידי שמביא בהמאמר מה שכתוב במדרש, by bringing in the מאמר what it says in the מדרש, the פריערדיקער רבי bringing in the מאמר what it says in the מדרש שמרדכי בדורו ישוקל כמשה בדורו, מרדכי in his generation like משה. And specifically by מרדכי, because there it was בגילוי, על ידי זה פסק בעל המאמר את הדין לעצמו. The one that said the מאמר, the פריערדיקער רבי, פסק'נד it on himself, שהוא הרעיא מהימנא בגילוי של כל אנשי הדור. He's the רעיא מהימנא בגילוי from the whole, from all the people of the generation. So since he said it on מרדכי, he פסק'נד on himself. And in the הערה the רבי says, על דרך like we have the פשט in the לשון of the משנה, דין וחשבון. The רבי explains, based on a ווארט of the בעל שם טוב. It says in פרקי אבות, נפרעין מן האדם מדעתו ושלא מדעתו. They punish a person מדעתו, with his knowledge, and without his knowledge. What does that mean? So the בעל שם טוב טייטש'ס, when it comes to punish a איד למעלה, so they don't just punish him. They ask him, what do you think should happen to a person who did so and so and so? And the person doesn't realize they're talking about him, so he thinks and he says, well for this, oh he deserves this and this punishment. And then later they make a חשבון with him and say hey, the same thing applies to you. So here it's מדעתו ושלא מדעתו. We punish him מדעתו because it's his דעת, he's the one that said it, but שלא מדעתו, he didn't know he was saying it. And based on that, the רבי טייטש'ס why it says you have to make a דין וחשבון. It says you have to know to whom you're going to give a דין וחשבון. Should have been opposite. First you make a חשבון. After you make the חשבון, you come to the דין. Why does it say דין וחשבון? Because because what happens is you ask him what's the דין. And after he פסק'נס the דין, we tell him this is you. We make a חשבון with you and it's you. So first the דין, then the חשבון. So the רבי says that same ווארט לגבי the רבי, the פריערדיקער רבי. Look, whatever the פריערדיקער רבי said on the on the previous on his father, the one before him, really he פסק'נד on himself. So when he said in the מאמר here בנוגע מרדכי, he פסק'נד on himself. And we could add something that's very obvious, that when the רבי says this that it's on the פריערדיקער רבי, it's the same דין וחשבון the רבי is saying on himself. And the truth is by the רבי we actually see that the רבי בגילוי is the נשיא and the רעיא מהימנא from the whole generation here פשוט בגילוי more than by all the other רביים. You see the השפעה that the רבי had from every single person in every corner of the world, that's something by the רבי is more בגילוי. And the רבי himself once said, it's just interesting to note, that once the רבי said that the פריערדיקער רבי said by a פארברענגען שמחת תורה, he counted the רביים according to the ספירות. בעל שם טוב is עתיק and אריך, and he went to the to his father, the רבי הרש״ב, and he finished and he said, and the טאטע till הוד, because the טאטע is הוד. And later on the פריערדיקער רבי, when he repeated it, he said, הוד וכולי. So the רבי said, what did he mean וכולי? To be מרומז that now you go next, on himself. He didn't talk about himself, but when he said הוד וכולי, he meant himself. In that same פארברענגען when the רבי repeat the רבי when he said this over, later on he says, so we that way understand, we go up to הוד, יסוד, וכולי! So the רבי himself said יסוד וכולי, so that וכולי was מרומז for himself. So the same thing here, the רבי when he says this, this goes on himself. Truth is, even though we don't really have the דעת, but we have the מסירת נפש. Someone is asking that we don't have the דעת now, we have the מסירת נפש. How many people have the מסירת נפש, but we don't have the דעת. In time of משה רבינו, that's why they were called the דור דעה, they were the דור דעה. But then it expressed in the דעת, now it's not in the דעת and שכל, but the אפלייג is there. דעת We טייטש, I don't know how they טייטש it in English, knowledge, wisdom, I don't know, understanding, so one of these words. But really what the word דעת is, like it says in תניא, that דעת is יתקע מחשבתו בחוזק, when you put something in the אפלייג. Now, when a person goes on מסירת נפש, that itself is the biggest אפלייג of אלוקות. If you go on מסירת נפש for אלוקות, even though you don't have it in your brain, but in you, it's definitely internalized. It definitely is part of you. So, in time of משה רבינו they were טאקע דעת, they פשוט were able to explain it. They had the understanding to explain it. But this נקודה of דעת, which is the אפלייג, which is the real meaning of דעת, that applies even nowadays when a person has מסירת נפש, that is the real אפלייג of אלוקות. Now let's go ווייטער to סעיף ח׳. So now the רבי says, ועל פי זה, יש לבאר קשר וסדר הענינים בהמאמר. Now we could see more the המשך and the סדר of the ענינים in the מאמר בביאור הפסוק ואתה תצוה, in explaining ואתה תצוה. Because really the whole structure of the מאמר was he's trying to understand what's the המשך of the מאמר of the פריערדיקער רבי. So now he says we'll understand it. It goes like this: שבתחלה מבאר פירוש, first he explains the פשט ואתה תצוה את בני ישראל. That's the first thing, that what does ואתה תצוה את בני ישראל mean? Not only you shall command the אידן, but it means שמשה הוא מקשר ומחבר את בני ישראל לאין סוף, that משה רבינו connects, ties and connects the אידן with אין סוף על ידי זה על ידי שהוא זן ומפרנס את האמונה, by feeding their אמונה and bringing the אמונה בפנימיות. That's the first. לאחר זה מבאר, then he explains, שגם רעי ישראל שבכל דור, and even the shepherds, the נשיאים of all generations, the התפשטותא דמשה, מחזקים את האמונה דישראל, they also strengthen the אמונה of the אידן. וכמו מרדכי, just like מרדכי, which was the משה שבדור, משה of his generation, שחיזק את אמונתם של ישראל, he strengthened the אמונה of the אידן לעמוד חזק בלימוד התורה וקיום המצוות, to strength strong in תורה and מצוות. So we see the המשך from this part to this part. ואתה תצוה, which means you shall connect the אידן to the אייבערשטער through the fact that משה רבינו was able, brought the אמונה, strengthened the אמונה בפנימיות. Then he continues saying that this is by all the רביים, by all the התפשטותא דמשה. לאחר זה מבאר, then he explains the פשט כתית למאור. This was the קשיא in the מאמר before. Afterwards he explains כתית למאור, שבפסוק ואתה תצוה, which is in the פסוק ואתה תצוה שמדבר לכאורה במשה עצמו, it's talking by משה himself. So לכאורה he has the שאלה what's the connection between כתית למאור and to what he said before that משה and the התפשטותא דמשה strengthen the אמונה, bring אמונה בפנימיות? Now we understand the המשך. כי זה שמשה מגלה בחינת המאור בישראל, we said that כתית למאור, if you're כתית, if you're crushed, it brings it to the מאור, to the עצם. That's a ווארט. What's the connection between that and the fact that משה רבינו and the התפשטותא דמשה strengthen your אמונה? But now we understand it, because כתית למאור means you have a גילוי of the עצם. כתית is the מסירת נפש. כתית, the crushing, when you're crushed and you pass the test, you overcome the obstacles, you go on מסירת נפש, you come to מאור, to עצם. How do you come to that עצם? You come to that עצם because what happens when you come to that עצם? You have מסירת נפש. So מסירת נפש is connected to the גילוי of the עצם. Who is מגלה the עצם? משה רבינו. הוא בעיקר על ידי התפשטותא דמשה שבכל דור בזמן הגלות כתית שעוררו בישראל תוקף המסירת נפש שלהם. And when did this happen, this real גילוי עצם? Even more than by משה רבינו, it happened by the time when you have צרות, when you have כתית. And that's when you really have the גילוי עצם, שעל ידי זה הוא עיקר גילוי עצם עצם הנשמה, which is the מאור. So we see the המשך of the ענינים. We know the ואתה תצוה, and the ואתה תצוה is משה connects the אידן to the אייבערשטער בפנימיות, which means, as he said before, meaning when does it really come in בפנימיות? Not when it comes because your נשמה למעלה sees אלוקות. It comes when you're מגלה the עצם. So when we say משה and the התפשטותא דמשה brought אמונה בפנימיות means that they were מגלה the עצם. That's why he continues, כתית למאור. When is the מאור really come? When you're מגלה the עצם. When is the real גילוי עצם? When it's כתית. So all these ענינים flow together with one המשך. אך צריך להבין, now he says we have to understand, דלפי ביאור הנ״ל, according to this explanation, הענין דכתית למאור שייך לואתה תצוה את בני ישראל, this ענין that כתית למאור is connected to the משה רבינו being מצוה, connecting the אידן to the אייבערשטער, וזה שמשה והתפשטותא דמשה שבכל דור מחזקים ומחברים את ישראל לאין סוף, is connected to the fact that the התפשטותא דמשה connect the אידן to אין סוף and they bring out the עצם הנשמה and ממילא they bring out the מסירת נפש. ובכתוב נאמר, but in the פסוק it says כתית למאור בהמשך לויקחו אליך שמן זית. There it says כתית למאור in המשך to the fact that you take שמן זית to משה, which we said before, what does that mean? והענין דויקחו אליך, this ויקחו אליך means, which means שישראל מביאים שמן למשה, that the אידן bring the oil to משה, הוא שישראל מוסיפים תוספת אור במשה, that the אידן add שמן זית זך to משה, they add a certain אור which comes from שמן זית to משה, כמבואר לעיל סעיף ב׳ בהמאמר, as he brought in the second סעיף in the מאמר. Now that we don't see how it fits in. We see how כתית למאור fits in to what משה accomplishes through the ואתה תצוה, and the התפשטותא דמשה does the same thing, and they bring you to כתית, then they then it's מגלה the עצם הנשמה. That all fits. But where fits in, how does it fit in the point that he said that this is connected to ויקחו אליך? We said before that ויקחו אליך means that because משה is מקשר the אידן to the אייבערשטער, משה gains extra, משה gains more אור. From what we said before, the whole ביאור, we don't see what brings out that משה gains. We only see the connection that משה is מגלה, and the התפשטותא דמשה brings it to מסירת נפש, and that's the אמונה בפנימיות, and that's the ביאור in the ענין that אמונה בפנימיות, and that's כתית, and that's למאור. למאור is that. Why in the פסוק, according to this פשט, does he mention כתית למאור, כתית which is the מסירות נפש and למאור is the עצם, to the ענין that we give something to משה that he doesn't have himself? What's the המשך? So the רבי says והנה, to explain that he goes into another ענין here: הכתוב וקיבלו היהודים את אשר החלו לעשות, the פסוק that we mentioned before where it says that the יידן accepted what they started, and the פריערדיקער רבי says it means that by the time of פורים they accepted more what they started במתן תורה, they accepted it here more. So מדובר בפשטות, in פשט in פסוק, בזמן שלאחר הנס דפורים. That's not talking the time of the גזירה, that's talking the time after the גזירה when happened the נס. As he brings before in the in the in one of the הערות, that רש״י says that when did it happen, when it says קימו וקיבלו היהודים, קימו מה שקיבלו כבר, that then the יידן were מקבל up on the self they מקיים what they were מקבל במתן תורה, now they were מקיים it, רש״י says מחמת אהבת הנס, because of the נס. In other words, when did they do it? When did this happen? When the נס happened already. And also the פסוק וקיבלו היהודים is written at the end of the מגילה after the נס. So פשט is after the נס. In this מאמר, the way he explains in the מאמר the פריערדיקער רבי, he's talking, the same thing in תורה אור, is משמע that this is talking the time of the גזירה. That's what he said before in אות כ״ב, that it's talking the time of the גזירה. But פשט in the פסוק is it's talking the time of the נס. Now ויש לומר, so we could say, דמה שכתוב במאמר, the פירוש וקיבלו היהודים את אשר החלו לעשות, that they accepted now what they started then, דבימי אחשורוש קיבלו מה שהחלו במתן תורה, at the time of אחשורוש they accepted what they started במתן תורה, הוא גם לפי פשטות הכתוב, also fits according to the פשט. The way he explained before, what he said before was why did they have something more here than they had במתן תורה? So he asked the קושיא, במתן תורה there were greater גילויים. The answer was, why was this greater? Because this was מסירות נפש. So according to what he says that this was מסירות נפש, it's when was the מסירות נפש? Not after the גזירה when the נס happened, מסירות נפש before. So in the מאמר he explains this ענין of וקיבלו היהודים, that by now it's more than the time of מתן תורה, is talking about the time of the גזירה. But since the פשט in the פסוק is talking at the time of the נס, so we have to say that the ביאור of the פריערדיקער רבי that now was more than מתן תורה applies also you could explain it also according to the פשט that it was היה לאחר הנס, that was after the נס. But לכאורה the whole ווארט was that they had מסירות נפש, that's why it's more than מתן תורה, that's why וקיבלו היהודים את אשר החלו לעשות. But now we're saying we want to explain this פשט in וקיבלו היהודים that now was more than מתן תורה after the גזירה when it was over by the נס, how does that fit? על פי זה he's going to explain, comes out like this: בזה שבימי אחשורוש קיבלו מה שהחלו במתן תורה, this that in the time of אחשורוש they accepted what they started במתן תורה, שני ענינים, has two ענינים. Both הקבלה שהיתה בזמן הגזירה על ידי המסירות נפש שלהם, כמו מפורש במאמר, the קימו וקיבלו the the קיבלו היהודים את אשר החלו לעשות first is in the time of the גזירה and the reason why it was so special then, more than מתן תורה, is because of the מסירות נפש, like he explains clearly in the מאמר. That he says clearly, that the רבי doesn't have to explain, that's in the פריערדיקער רבי'ס מאמר. והקבלה שהיתה לאחר הנס דפורים, and then you also have the קבלה after the נס happened already, שהיא נעלית יותר גם מהקבלה שבזמן הגזירה, כדלקמן. This ענין that they were in a higher had something special extra at the time, more than מתן תורה, was more after the נס than it was in the time of the גזירה, which is כדלקמן, like we'll explain later, because על פי שכל, ממילא, during the time of the גזירה we gave the reason why it's so special, why it's so great, more than מתן תורה, because of מסירות נפש, but after the גזירה there's no more מסירות נפש. But the רבי will explain it later. But before he goes to explain it, he says ויש לומר, so we could say, שעל דרך זה בנוגע לכתית למאור, that the same thing is בנוגע the ביאור in כתית למאור. What did we say כתית למאור? כתית goes on the crushing, crushing of מסירות נפש and that's connected to מאור, מאור which is the עצם. שעל ידי הענין דכתית שבזמן הגלות מגיעים להמאור, this what we said that through the כתית, through the crushing in time of גלות you reach the מאור which is the עצם, also שני ענינים בזה, we have the same two ענינים. Just like we said we have two ענינים in וקיבלו היהודים, one ענין that was so special at the time of the מסירות נפש and the other one is at the time of the נס, we have in this ענין of כתית brings you to מאור, also two ענינים: כשישראל נמצאים במצב של כתית, מצד זה שישנם גזירות על קיום התורה ומצוות, there's one thing is when the יידן are in the level of כתית, they're crushed, why? Because there is גזירות, there are decrees against keeping תורה ומצוות, כמו שהיה בזמן זמן אמירת המאמר, like it was in the time of the saying of the מאמר, and the רבי is מרומז, that's why the פריערדיקער רבי בגלוי doesn't talk about the second level, the כתית that comes later. Talk about the גזירות because that time was time of the גזירות. ועל ידי זה מגיעים להמאור על ידי מסירות נפש שלהם, yes, that's how you reach the level of מאור which is עצם through מסירות נפש, like we said before. But עוד ענין בכתית למאור, and there's another ענין of כתית למאור, שגם כשישראל נמצאים במצב של הרחבה, even when the אידן are not in a מצב of צרות, they're in a מצב of הרחבה, things are wide, things are good, הרחבה בגשמיות וגם הרחבה ברוחניות. You have הרחבה in גשמיות, פשוט there's no צרות and you have what you need, and הרחבה in רוחניות means your mind also you have הרחבה, you're in a מדריגה in רוחניות, but אלא שנמצאים בגלות, but you're still in גלות. That's the second part, that you're have הרחבה and you're still in גלות. But this is על דרך המצב שהיה לאחר הנס דפורים, which is exactly the situation the way it was after the נס by פורים. Because what happened then? ליהודים היתה אורה ושמחה וששון ויקר. אידן had אורה and שמחה, they had all the things, they had הרחבה. No more גזירות, no more צרות. בפשטות, וגם ברוחניות. בפשטות פשוט they had light and they had שמחה, they were happy and had everything. And also ברוחניות, as the גמרא says that it means אורה זו תורה, and this is this is יום טוב, and this is מילה, and this is תפילין, so they had ברוחניות high מדריגה. ויתירה מזו, it was not only they were in high מדריגה, שגם בית המן ניתן לאסתר. It was ממש the ענין of שהיה אז מעלה דאתהפכא. It changed over קליפה. They took house of המן, and המן is קליפה, not סתם קליפה, the קליפה of עמלק, and they changed it over for קדושה. So you can imagine what high a high מדריגה ברוחניות they had. So they had הרחבה בגשמיות, הרחבה ברוחניות. אלא שאכתי עבדי דאחשורוש אנן. The גמרא says we're still, they were still slaves of אחשורוש. It means they were still in גלות. So here we have a מצב that everything is good, no גזירות, no you don't need מסירות נפש, but you're still in גלות. הם שבורים ונדכאים כתית מזה שבגלות. They still have the כתית. There's another level of כתית. The fact that you're in גלות, you feel broken that you're in גלות. ועל ידי הכתית בישראל מזה שנמצאים בגלות מגיעים להמאור. And because you have the כתית, that you feel bad and you feel broken inside that you're in גלות, you read the level, the reach level of מאור. So the level of מאור that you're able to reach is סיי when it it comes from כתית, that's for sure. But not only כתית from מסירות נפש when you have צרות, but כתית also in a time when just that you're in גלות, and you feel כתית because you're in גלות. And הערה 41, he says an interesting ווארט. The הערה says that בפנים המאמר מדובר רק זמן הגלות. In the מאמר when he talks about כתית brings you to מאור, he mentions כתית in the time of גלות. In the קיצור, he says זמן הגלות והגזירה. Time of גלות of גזירה. So the רבי is makes a note here that there are two things: the first time is time of גלות doesn't necessarily mean גזירות. You could be in גלות and no גזירות, like it happened after the נס. And the other time it says גלות והגזירה. So he's trying to be מרומז that you have the כתית in both ways, and both כתית, and both ענינים in כתית bring you to מאור, to the עצם, bring you and connect you to the עצם, because this כתית, as the רבי will explain, the כתית of the fact that we're in גלות is also something that is so special, that is able to that comes because of the עצם and it brings you to גילוי עצם. I just want to make a little note of something that's interesting here, that the רבי said that גם בית המן נתתי לאסתר, and the house of המן was given to אסתר, which is אתהפכא. And I mentioned that it's אתהפכא even of עמלק. The question is doesn't it say מחה תמחה זכר עמלק, you're not allowed to have any זכר of עמלק? And רש״י says in חומש what does that mean, you have to destroy anything that belongs to עמלק, גמל and שור and חמור, everything and ox, everything that belongs to עמלק. So how could he have הנאה, how could מרדכי have הנאה from the house of המן when it belongs to עמלק? So the רבי has a whole אריכות in חלק י״ד in פרשת כי תצא, and he goes and brings different תירוצים from different מפרשים why it was allowed. But the רבי׳ס ביאור, according to פשוטו של מקרא, he says that only from living things, from animals, you have to destroy because the name of the original owner always is there. וממילא, even if someone takes, a איד takes it, you'll always know and you'll always say, 'Oh, this comes from עמלק.' So the שם of עמלק is on it, and it says מחה תמחה זכר עמלק, so you got to get rid of the זכר עמלק. But by a house, after it is it goes over to someone else's רשות, it loses the old, people don't refer to it with the old name, וממילא there is no איסור. אי the פסוק says that he gave בית המן so he calls it בית המן, at the time of the transfer it was called בית המן. But from then on it was no more בית המן, and according to רש״י פשוטו של מקרא you're allowed to give it. But the bottom line is here that the מצב at that time was very good, even the in רוחניות and it was אתהפכא, but the אידן it was still גלות, and being in גלות itself makes a איד כתית, makes him be broken, and that itself is makes him reach the level of עצם, which is the מאור. והענין הוא, and he explains, what is the פשט that the ייד, just the fact that he's in גלות, makes him feel that way? Very interesting פשט the Rebbe explains here: וזה שישראל הם שבורים, מזה שבגלות, this that the יידן feel broken for the fact that they're in גלות, גם כשיש להם הרחבה בגשמיות וברוחניות, even if they have הרחבה in גשמיות and in רוחניות. But the fact that they're in גלות makes them feel bad. Why is it? Why does a ייד feel bad that we're in גלות? And the אמת is טאקע there are people who, like what, we feel bad we're in גלות? Who cares? רצונו האמיתי של כל אחד מישראל הוא, because the real, real אמת'ע will of a ייד is שיהיה גילוי אלקות, should be גילוי אלקות. ועד שזה, גילוי אלקות, נוגע לעצם מציאותו. The fact that משיח isn't here, we're in גלות, there's no גילוי אלקות. So, the fact that we don't have the גילוי אלקות is נוגע to the עצם המציאות of a ייד. ולכן, זה שבזמן הגלות אין מאיר גילוי אלקות כמו שהיה בזמן הבית, this that in the time of גלות there's no גילוי אלקות, it doesn't shine like it was in the time of the בית המקדש, ובפרט כשמתבונן, certainly when you think בזה שאמרו חז\"ל, this that חז\"ל say, כל מי שלא נבנה בית המקדש בימיו כאילו נחרב בימיו, anybody who the בית המקדש was not rebuilt in his time is as if it was destroyed in his time. And we know that the ראגאטשאווער brings out from this מאמר חז\"ל that חורבן בית המקדש is a פעולה נמשכת. It's not that it was destroyed once, it constantly is as if it's being destroyed again. So imagine a person starts thinking there was גילוי אלקות, there's no more גילוי אלקות, חורבן בית המקדש. And not only there was no the the גילוי אלקות went away 2,000 years ago, the חורבן that's taking away גילוי אלקות is happening right now. It's a פעולה נמשכת, it's happening over and over again. That's one of the famous שיחות where the Rebbe said קערט א וועלט. He said that we start thinking this מאמר חז\"ל, what would a person do if he would see the בית המקדש burning? וואלט ער געקערט א וועלט! He would turn over the whole world! The בית המקדש is burning! So the Rebbe said, according to this מאמר חז\"ל it's happening now. And therefore the Rebbe is קערט א וועלט, so we gotta קערט א וועלט, we gotta care. And the Rebbe said, this is the reason why a ייד cares, because a ייד knows that the גילוי אלקות now is not the way it was in the בית המקדש. הנה מזה עצמו איז ער אינגאנצן צוטרייסלט. This shakes him up completely. And the Rebbe says the words in Yiddish. Now we know the by by the רביים, when the words were said in the מאמר in Yiddish, written in Yiddish, said the מאמר was said in Yiddish always, but written in Yiddish, it's because it's the only way you could express the real meaning, צוטרייסלט, he becomes כתוס. So ממילא this is such a a כתוס that is נוגע to the עצם הנשמה, because otherwise if not for the עצם הנשמה, what do you care? You have everything, you have הרחבה בגשמיות, הרחבה ברוחניות, it's because your עצם is wants אלקות. וגם כשהוא בדרגה נעלית ביותר, even if a person is a very high מדרגה, שמאיר אצלו גילוי אלקות, that by him shines אלקות בדוגמת הגילוי שהיה בזמן הבית, like it was in the בית המקדש. There are people who by them there were אלקות like the time of the בית המקדש. And in the הערה the Rebbe brings from פלח הרמון of ר' הלל פאריטשער, where he writes in the name of the אלטער רבי, that לפני הרשב\"י לא נחרב הבית כלל. In front of the רשב\"י the בית המקדש wasn't destroyed. What does that mean? The רשב\"י suffered from the חורבן בית המקדש more than most of the תנאים. He had to hide in a cave for 13 years because of the חורבן בית המקדש, because the Romans took over. But it means ברוחניות, by him was גילוי אלקות like in the time of the בית המקדש. And this brings in always the famous story with ר' מענדעלע האראדאקער. Everyone knows this story, but I'll repeat it again anyway, that ר' מענדעלע who moved to ארץ ישראל and he was in צפת and טבריה, and once he went to visit ירושלים, and when while he was there some משוגענער got up on הר הזיתים and started blowing שופר. People heard שופר blowing from הר הזיתים. Oh, it says, sounds like משיח is coming! It says ועמדו רגליו על הר הזיתים. So what did they do? And ר' מענדעלע was פונקט there, so the such a צדיק, so they ran into the house of ר' מענדל to tell him seems like משיח is coming. So ר' מענדל went over to the window, opened the window, stuck out his head, smelled, and he said, no, ס'שמעקט נישט משיח, it doesn't smell משיח. And the question was asked, if משיח would come and it would smell משיח, it certainly would smell in his house also. So why did he have to open the window to look outside, to smell outside? And the answer is, because in the house of ר' מענדעלע it always smelled משיח. So there are צדיקים who reach in a level that by them they they have גילוי אלקות like in the time of משיח. But לפועל, so to him it's there. He has this גילוי. Or like they even used to say by חסידים, that the מיטלער רבי'ס חסידים didn't need משיח. They were so involved in חסידות, in understanding חסידות, the topic of גילוי אלקות, they had גילוי אלקות. So for them personally, they had the גילוי אלקות, they didn't need. So the Rebbe says here, even a person that to him there is גילוי אלקות like in the time of the בית המקדש, מכל מקום, still, מזה שבכללות העולם אין מאיר הגילוי, since in the whole world world this גילוי is not shining, מוכח proves שגם הגילוי שמאיר אצלו הוא גילוי מוגבל, that the גילוי that he has is also a limited גילוי. The fact that this גילוי is not all over, only by him, shows it's מוגבל. Why? Because דכשמאיר גילוי אין סוף הבלי גבול, if it would be an infinite and unlimited גילוי אלקות, הגילוי בכל מקום has to be all over. וכשיש איזה מקום אחד you have one place, אפילו פינה נדחת, even if it's a far corner, שאין מאיר שם גילוי אלקות, that אלקות doesn't shine there, הוא מפני שהגילוי גם במקום שמאיר, because this גילוי even where it does shine, הוא גילוי מוגבל. It's a limited גילוי, because בלי גבול can't be limited to one place and not the other place. Similar to the idea of אמת, we know אמת can't be in one place אמת and in the other place not, there's no such thing. If something is true it's true all over. You cannot say 1 + 1 = 2 in the United States, but in Russia 1 + 1 = 3. It can't be, if it's an אמתדיקע זאך it's all over. So the fact that אלקות is not מאיר all over is a סימן that it's not the real, real בלי גבול, because בלי גבול is something that shines all over. So, the person who even he has, even though he has the גילוי אלקות, is also צעטראסלט, also feels bad משיח is not here yet. Ah, you have the גילוי אלקות, but a סימן it's not the real גילוי אלקות that's supposed to be, because if it would be, it would be all over. The fact that it's not, so it's missing גילוי אלקות, and this is something that's נוגע to עצם הנפש. וזהו מה שמובא במאמרי אדמו״ר הזקן, and this is brought in the אלטער רבי's a מאמר, he says that דאיתא בתיקונים, it says in תיקונים which is תיקוני זהר, גם בהערה the רבי says, he quotes תיקוני זהר, he says in the מאמרים of the אלטער רבי it says the לשון תיקוני זהר, but really it's in זהר חדש, it says a לשון, דאי יחזרו בתשובה ראשי כנישתא, that if the heads of the ישיבות will do תשובה, the heads of the אידן, אי חדא כנישתא, or one, one כנישתא, one שול, one ישיבה, all the גאולה will come, and that means בקיצור what it says in the מאמר inside here from תיקונים, שאפילו אם היה צדיק אחד חוזר בתשובה שלימה בדרא, if one צדיק would do the proper תשובה in his generation, היו בא משיח, משיח would come. Why? כי על ידי תשובה שלימה, because when you do the complete תשובה, ממשיכים גילוי אין סוף הבלי גבול, you bring down the אין סוף הבלי גבול, the גילוי זה בכל מקום, it would be all over. So the fact a סימן that there's not one person who really has the real גילוי, because if he would have the real, real גילוי בלי גבול, it couldn't be limited to him, it would have to be all over. ומזה שאין מאיר אצלו גילוי עצמותו אין סוף, and the fact that it doesn't shine, person who doesn't feel אלקות, אוודאי feels bad, I don't feel אלקות, and that's נוגע to his עצם הנפש. But אפילו a צדיק who does feel גילוי אלקות, also is צעטראסלט, there is not the real גילוי אלקות of בלי גבול. And because of that הוא נשבר ונדכא, he's broken up, his heart is broken, and that's the ענין of חולי. He's broken, and what broken mean? You're sick from it. When a person really wants something, he feels bad of something he doesn't have, you get sick from it. על דרך הידוע we know שחולה בגימטריא מ״ט. חולה, which means sick, is בגימטריא 49. Why? שגם כשמשיג מ״ט שערי בינה, even if a person reaches a level where he grasped, he understands the 49 gates of בינה, אלא שחסר לו שער הנו״ן, the 50th is missing, הוא חולה, he's sick. The גמרא says that חמשים שערי בינה נבראו בעולם, 50 gates of wisdom were created in the world. כולם ניתנו למשה חוץ מאחד, they were all given to משה, except one. The שער הנו״ן, the 50th you can't reach. So every other level where a person is, let's say a person reached the fifth level of בינה, and he's striving to reach the sixth, he doesn't get sick. Why doesn't he get sick? Because he's able to reach it. So he wants it and he works on it and he reaches it. When do you get sick? When you want something and you can't get it. So the only time you're sick is if you reached the 49th and you want to go higher, the 50th, and you can't get it, you're sick. And that's the ענין of wanting more אלקות, because the שערי בינה, חמשים שערי בינה is אלקות. Now this ענין, דרך אגב, that it says that you can't reach the level the 50th, that's only during the lifetime of a צדיק. It's all based on the פסוק where it says משה רבינו asked the אייבערשטער, I want to see I want to see your face, הראני נא את כבודך. So the אייבערשטער said to him, no, כי לא יראני האדם וחי, no one could see me and live. So the גמרא says בחייהם אינם רואים, when they're alive they don't see, אבל במיתתם רואים. When they die they could. That's why by משה רבינו it says when he died he טאקע reached שער הנו״ן. The מגיד טייטשט he was buried in הר נבו, נבו is made up of two words, נו״ן בו, the נו״ן is 50, he got the שער הנו״ן. But otherwise you can't. But the רבי is bringing this in here just for the ענין of that you feel bad when you're missing the ענין of גילוי אלקות. וידוע מה שכתב הצמח צדק, we know what the צמח צדק writes, שהיה נשמע ממורנו ורבנו נשמתו עדן, אדמו״ר הזקן, they used to hear, היה נשמע it was heard from the אלטער רבי. He used to say like this: איך וויל זשע גארנישט, I want nothing. איך וויל נישט דיין גן עדן, I don't want your גן עדן. איך וויל נישט דיין עולם הבא וכולי, I don't want your עולם הבא. איך וויל מער נישט אז דיך אליין, I want You Yourself. ועל ידי זה שהיה נשמע לשון זה מאדמו״ר הזקן, the fact that we heard this was heard from the אלטער רבי, and what's heard from the אלטער רבי, the רבי is going to explain not he said it once. The פירוש היה נשמע when he says it was heard, הוא שזה היה לא רק בזמנים מיוחדים, wasn't certain times, אלא שהיה דבר רגיל, that was דבר, that's a common thing, this is his level. So when the אלטער רבי had this level, ובפרט לאחר שנתפרסם זה על ידי הצמח צדק, especially after it was publicized by the צמח צדק, ניתן הכח לכל אחד ואחד מישראל, the power, the כח, the strength was given to all the אידן, every איד, שעיקר רצונו יהיה גילוי העצמות, that you should want גילוי העצמות which will be when משיח will come. עד כדי כך, so much so, כשאין מאיר גילוי זה, when this doesn't shine, ומכל שכן בזמן הגלות שאין מאיר אפילו הגילוי גילוי אור שהיה בזמן הבית, it's not only the עצמות doesn't shine, but not even the גילוי אור אין סוף shines now in the time of גלות, הוא במצב דכתישה. He's in a מצב that he's shaken up, he's crushed. So בכלל an איד is crushed because it's נוגע to his עצם, especially after the אלטער רבי brought this out, so every איד is able to do this. ומבקש ג׳ פעמים בכל יום, and every איד asks every day three times, או יותר, or more, ותחזינה עינינו בשובך לציון ברחמים, we want to see with our eyes, show us with our eyes how You go back to ציון ברחמים. And the reason the רבי says או יותר, because most days it's three times, but some days it's more. On שבת and on ראש חודש and on יום טוב, you have four תפילות, so we say ותחזינה four times. On יום כיפור, we also have תפילת נעילה, we say ותחזינה a fifth time. And maybe the רבי is מרומז not only to this extra תפילות during these days, מרומז that בכלל in דאווענען we have so many more times that we ask for משיח. In שמונה עשרה itself, besides ותחזינה, את צמח דוד, in עלינו we say, על כן נקווה לך, we hope that, we ask for משיח many, many times. So every איד asks many times a day the אייבערשטער should bring משיח, שאז יהיה גילוי אלקות, then you'll see גילוי אלקות, ועד לגילוי העצמות, to גילוי העצמות. And this is what every איד wants. וזהו כתית למאור, this is the פשט that כתית למאור, meaning that the כתית brings you to the עצם, or the כתית is connected to the עצם, שעל ידי הענין דכתית, by having this כתית which is the crushing, from what? So one way was כתית, being crushed, you need מסירת נפש, you have צרות and you have מסירת נפש, and that brings, that's מגלה or is connected to that עצם. But here he is saying the second ענין, that through the כתית, מזה שנמצאים בגלות, the fact that we feel crushed from the mere fact that we're in גלות, not from צרות, that we're in גלות and we don't have גילוי אלקות, מגיעים להמאור, you reach to the מאור. כי זה שהרצון של כל אחד מישראל הוא גילוי אלקות, this that every איד has the רצון to want אלקות, ועד שזה נוגע לעצם מציאותו, till it affects his עצם המציאות, שלכן הוא נשבר ונתכתת מזה שבזמן הגלות לא יש גילוי אלקות, he feels broken about it. Something that is not part of your עצם you wouldn't feel broken. There's no גילוי אלקות, big deal! But it's נוגע to your עצם, that's why you feel broken. הוא מצד עצם הנשמה, why does an איד feel that way? That's connected to the עצם הנשמה, which is the מאור שבנשמה, שהתקשרותה באלקות היא התקשרות עצמית, as it goes back to the whole thing that he said before, that the נשמה בעצם is connected to the אייבערשטער, because the עצם הנשמה is connected, and the עצם הנשמה brings you to כתית. So before he explained the עצם הנשמה when it's בגילוי brings you to כתית to have מסירת נפש, and that itself is נתגלה through מרדכי, התפשטותא דמשה, and now he says there's another נקודה, that the ענין of כתית comes because you feel bad that you're in גלות, and that also brings you to the מאור. And the רבי will explain later how that is, how it's even more than the other כתית, and that brings you to the ענין of מאור that comes that brings you and it comes to the ענין of מאור because that comes from the עצם הנשמה. Now this ענין as we all understand, we're talking before ג׳ תמוז, that this is what we saw by the רבי, פשוט בגלוי, how the ענין of not having גילוי אלקות was פשוט נוגע to his עצם. And the רבי says here from when the אלטער רבי said that he wants עצמות he פועל׳ט on us that we should also want, by the רבי the רבי פועל׳ט, by the רבי we saw פשוט בגשמיות how he cried just for not having גילוי אלקות. He himself wasn't missing, he had גילוי אלקות, we said before the רביים they all had גילוי אלקות, נשמות דאצילות with all the ענינים, they have all these ענינים, it's נשמות דאצילות down here למטה, like it says in תורה אור in regard to משה רבינו, משה רבינו down here in this world was מדרגה דאצילות. משה רבינו when he was speaking to פרעה, פרעה was עמקי הקליפות and משה was אצילות. So it's נשמה דאצילות, all these highest מדרגות, and you saw him crying and what is what bothered him עד מיצוי הנפש, the fact that there is no גילוי אלקות in the וועלט. And that's the כתית that has to do with מאור, and that comes from the רביים, and by the רבי, the way he instilled it in us, we see it כפשוטו. And then later, based on this, the רבי is going to continue the מאמר to show the המשך to all the ענינים, and to answer the שאלה that that we still left with: Why is the ענין of כתית למאור connected to bringing the oil to משה, meaning giving something to משה? אם ירצה השם, next week at the same time, we will have the שיעור again, the same time, but next week, אם ירצה השם, the שיעור will be given from the אוהל. It's closer to ג' תמוז, so we will finish the מאמר from the אוהל.
