Parshat Vayakhel starts with the words ויקהל משה את כל עדת בני ישראל. Moshe gathered all the Yidden. And he told them, ששת ימים תעשה מלאכה וביום השביעי יהיה לכם קדש שבת שבתון לה׳. Six days melacha could be done, work can be done, but on the seventh day it's holy to Hashem, you have to rest. And then he continued with telling them about making the Mishkan. And the question that's asked is in many places that why did they have to mention the six days you work? The main thing he wanted to tell them is that the seventh day, on Shabbos, you cannot work. And even if it comes to make the Mishkan, you can't be מחלל שבת in order to make the Mishkan. So, all he should have said, Shabbos, you cannot work. Then tell them about the Mishkan, which would mean that even the Mishkan you can not make on Shabbos. Why did he have to give the introduction that six days you can work? And the Rebbe explains it that we know the reason why the Torah says ויקהל משה את כל עדת בני ישראל, that Moshe gathered all the Yidden, וכולי, why is it so nogea and so important here that he gathered all the Yidden? The main thing, he should have said, Moshe told the Yidden you have to keep Shabbos, and you have to make the Mishkan, etcetera, etcetera. So, it says in different places that this is to show that as an introduction for everything is ויקהל משה את כל עדת בני ישראל. All the Yidden have to get together, there has to be achdut amongst Yidden. And that's the first thing before you before you go any further. Before you talk about the importance of Shabbos, before you talk about the importance of making the Mishkan, the first thing is you have to have achdut among Yidden. And that's important for Shabbos, and important for the Mishkan. In order to do these things properly, you have to have achdut by Yidden. But
one might think that the inyan of achdut is important when you're talking about spiritual things. Then it's possible to have achdut, all Yidden together. When it comes to Shabbos, it's a holy day, you're involved in holy things, then you have achdut amongst Yidden. When it comes to make the Mishkan, then you have achdut amongst the Yidden. So, you would think that's when it's important. But when it comes to the weekdays, when you're involved in making a living, you're involved in your physical things, there it's harder to have achdut and maybe there it's not so important to have achdut. Maybe there you could because it's not רוחניות׳דיקה ענינים. So, therefore, the Torah starts off, Moshe Rabbeinu starts off by saying ששת ימים תעשה מלאכה. After he says ויקהל, after the Torah says ויקהל משה את כל עדת בני ישראל, that he gathered all the Yidden, which means there is the importance of achdut. He starts off by saying six days a week you work, to mean he means to say that this inyan of achdut has to be even in the days that you work. And thus it continues on. Six, it says ויקהל משה, you have to have achdut. Six days a week, you also have to have achdut even though it's much harder. You have to have achdut, chas veshalom, not to have הסגת גבול, to get into somebody's way of like parnasah and other things that could be during the week, and Shabbos has to have achdut. And that's the first הקדמה. And then it continues about the Mishkan. In
order to make a Mishkan, you have to achdut. And also, he's telling you that achdut is so important that if you have achdut during the weekdays, you have achdut during Shabbos, which means you have achdut concerning physical matters and you have achdut when it comes concerning spiritual matters, then you're ready to make the Mishkan. What's the inyan of making the Mishkan? Making the Mishkan is bringing down the Shechinah down here. And that's what the pasuk is telling, if you have ויקהל, you have the achdut, making Yidden all into one קהל, into one unit, have achdut, when it comes to physical matters, weekdays, spiritual matters, Shabbos, then you will bring down the Shechinah into this world because that's very important. The inyan of ahavat Yisrael is important to bringing down the Shechinah to this world, making a Mishkan, which means simply this will bring Moshiach. Making the Mishkan is the inyan of Moshiach when he will build the Beis Hamikdash. And this all starts when Yidden have the proper Ahavat Yisrael.
