Restoring the Eibershter name and its meaning

החזירו עטרה ליושנה, they brought back the original. Originally they used to say הא-ל הגדול הגיבור, the Eibershter is the big one, the strong one. Then later when עכו״ם מרקדים בהיכלו, the goyim came into the Beis Hamikdash and everything, so they said, where is ד׳'s strength? Where is the Eibershter? So they stopped saying it. Came the Anshei Knesset HaGedolah and they said it back. They started saying it again and they gave a reason why. They said to them, אי, איה גבורותיו? איה נוראותיו? Where is the Eibershter's gevurot? So he said, עכו״ם מרקדים בהיכלו והוא שותק? אלו הן גבורותיו! Fact the Eibershter allows and gives chiyut even to those who goes into the Beis Hamikdash and tries to do bad things and he doesn't do anything, that shows the gevurah of the Eibershter. The same thing here, the chashivut that if the Eibershter could even lower himself and give them chiyut. Anyway, okay, so he said all this, כל היודע לחשב בתקופות ומזלות ואינו חושב, anybody who knows how to calculate these mazalot, these cheshbonot, and doesn't calculate, עליו הכתוב אומר, on him the pasuk goes, ואת פועל ה׳ לא יביטו, you're not looking into the work of ד׳, ומעשה ידיו לא ראו, you're not seeing his maaseh yadav. And in other words, it's a wrong thing. If you are able to calculate, you should calculate it.

Torah command to study astronomy and the Rebbe’s insight

אמר שמואל, מניין, אמר רבי יוחנן: מניין שמצווה על אדם לחשב תקופות ומזלות? How do you know it's a mitzvah on a person to calculate these תקופות ומזלות? שנאמר, it says, ושמרתם ועשיתם, you should watch and do the תורה ומצוות, כי היא חכמתכם ובינתכם לעיני העמים, because this is the chochmah and the binah in the eyes of even the goyim. איזו היא חכמה ובינה שלעיני העמים? What is the chochmah and binah that the Yidden have which is even in the eyes of the goyim? הוי אומר זה חישוב תקופות ומזלות, that's astronomy. So it says that you should keep it, it says ושמרתם ועשיתם כי היא חכמתכם, so what does the Torah telling you to do? The cheshbon of the mazalot. And the Rebbe is medayek in this Gemara that the Gemara said doesn't say מניין שמצווה על בית דין, על אדם! Every single Yid has an obligation. See, before it said a little different. Before it said if a person is able to calculate and he doesn't, the Eibershter is upset at him, but it doesn't say everyone has to do it. A person doesn't know astronomy, he doesn't. If you know it and you don't. Here is a different thing, מצווה על אדם לחשב, you have to work on it! In other words, when you learn Rambam הלכות קידוש החודש, you're mekayem a mitzvat aseh: ושמרתם ועשיתם. The condiments to wisdom. פרפראות לחכמה. Yeah. Food metaphor. And even that is the in the eyes of the goyim, this is the greatest chochmah, and by us it's only פרפראות. Yeah. What's the English word? Condiments. You know, like salt and pepper. Ketchup, yeah. Spices. Spices. But in our lifetime it changed that it was used to be December 4th to say ותן טל ומטר, now it's December 5th. Or is it later? Fifth or sixth. It used to be fourth and fifth, it changed. It's nothing to do with calculating the cheshbonot, that's just for טל ומטר. So what's talking about תקופות ומזלות, that's talking about like what? To know when the the seasons of cycle of the sun and the cycle of the moon and how the mazalot go, this is all this is all Kiddush Hachodesh. This is all Support a group that knows So you're allowed to learn astronomy? If you have a chelek in it, I imagine so. I don't know, but I imagine so. It's astronomy. Astronomy. Not astrology. Astronomy. Not astrology. How about now that it's all been done, it's been written No, but you don't know it. Huh? You have to know it. You have to calculate it. It's written down. So learn it from where it's written down. That was what you have to learn it. It's a mitzvah for you to know it. It only could be used for the purpose of knowing Hashem No, it's to be able to learn Kiddush Hachodesh. Not to be used Zevulun came before Yissachar? No. He kind came before. He put Zevulun before Yissachar. Oh and you're mentioning Yissachar because Yissachar were calculating, were the יודעי בינה. They knew the they knew astronomy. Why did he put Zevulun before that? Because the big zechut of supporting him. Giving money. Supporting him. It's all the koach to make a to make a leap year and not to make a leap year and when you're doing Kiddush Hachodesh and all. Yeah, all this. So it's a mitzvah to know that? More than anything else in the Torah? Oh, because the goyim Because the goyim look at this. And it says that כי היא חכמתכם ובינתכם לעיני העמים. I told the story with the Rebbe that he gave he came into this into his class, he was part of a special science class and he gave an astronomy class. It was in the early years on the videos. You ever hear about that story? The Rebbe gave an astronomy thing, lesson or something. A really amazing one, how he and he connected it all to the Torah. Yeah, somewhere through those. So I think it was in one of the early years, one of those stories. Yeah, they didn't they didn't see no He had a project and he just blew everyone's minds away, where he wrote on the paper the year of creation, like it was a very controversial, a very elite group, and he wrote the year of creation 5000 and they didn't like it. And he proved it. His whole lesson was proving how it doesn't make how everything could Let's just learn and let's see, why not? אמר יהודה אמר רב, no, wait a minute. כל מה שברא הקדוש ברוך הוא בעולמו לא ברא דבר אחד לבטלה. Whatever Hashem created in the world, not one thing is for nothing. Now, I

Insect remedies and their halachic uses

don't know the names of these things. Bara, he created a shablul. It's good for a katit. Yeah. Worm? Shablul is a worm, I think. Kind of, yeah. It says under here, a שנעקע. Is it a Is it a leech? It's a kind of kind of worm called a שנעק, a שנעק. It's a worm. Listen. And what's katit? A קוועטשונג. I mean, they put Yiddish, a thing in the end. Because this gets rid of that. You smash it and then you put it on your wound. Yeah, it has the it has the cure in its own thing. Yatush, mosquito, לנחש, to a snake. What is a yatush going to do for a snake? It's going to bite him. נחש לחפפית. חפפית, a kind of שחין, a kind of boils, and this snake, if you take the snake and rub it on it. וסממית לעקרב. A סממית, what is a סממית? It says here, it's a name of a שרץ, some kind of שרץ. It goes into the עקרב, it goes into the No, no, no. When are you going to find a zevuv at the right time when you Going to look for a You have to prepare! Look, where is a zevuv? Zevuv, come on! Come on my head! They're all right
