איפה אנחנו? אנחנו דף פ״ו, עמוד א׳. מניין לפולטת שכבת זרע. מניין לפולטת שכבת זרע. הא? מניין מניין, יא. Masechet Shabbat, יא. The din is like this, this already goes into other dinim completely. Eventually it has to do with עריות. The connection with Masechet Shabbat is, מסכת שבת ומתן תורה, the din is like this. Where is it? I had it here before. I can't see so far, no well. Here. What is this? Before נו״ן ט׳. Before נו״ן ב׳, after נו״ן א׳. Oh, after נו״ן א׳. After נו״ן א׳, right there right in the bottom there, yeah. The din is like this. A person who becomes a baal keri who, because of שכבת זרע, becomes tamei. A woman who is פולטת שכבת זרע is also temeah. That means a woman who Ah? No, so this is going to be the whole sugya. The whole sugya, three days is taking from this this sugya of Shabbat after from מתן תורה. Okay, we're not going to go into the part from מתן תורה. So she's פולטת שכבת זרע But see, what you're talking about is a different thing. You're talking about the חשבונות. בחש שאי טמאה, a woman who is פולטת שכבת זרע, if she When she has זרע in her it's when it comes in at least it is, makes her temeah. But
when she's פולטת, let's say a day later, and זרע comes out that makes her temeah. That's one thing. But we know פולטת שכבת זרע is נוגע to the counting of the שבעה נקיים, that's something else. That if a woman is פולטת שכבת זרע, gives out שכבת זרע in the middle of counting the seven clean days, it ruins that day. It's a special din. Normally we know if a woman counts let's say five clean days and then all of a sudden she sees dam, so then the whole thing is batel, she has to start from the beginning. פולטת שכבת זרע is a different din. The day that she was פולטת, that day doesn't count. So let's say it was day number five, so the four days that she had before count, today doesn't count, she still has to have two more days. Say if four days, three more days. Yeah. But that's over there. That the whole yesod of the whole thing why we wait five days before she could start counting שבעה נקיים. A woman from when she becomes teme'ah cannot start counting שבעה נקיים, even if she has ראייה for one day. So hurray, one day is over, let her make a הפסק טהרה and start counting the seven clean days. She can't, she's to do it five days, no matter what. It's all based on this, because we're afraid maybe before she got her period, before she got דם, she was had ביאה. And mimela, she might have פולטת שכבת זרע two days later, and we don't know which day she might have, so the be'emet all three days and we're afraid for four days, five days, this and again. Anyway, this is all connected to the sugya of מתן תורה, because by מתן תורה the Aibershter said three days before you should not stay be with your wife. And it's all because you should not be tamei at the time when you come to מתן תורה. Okay, and there it goes into ראיות how many days it was
How did three become five? Huh? How did three become five? The whole thing is a It's not even derabbanan, it's the whole you know the waiting five days, it's you have to start it a few hundred years ago, a few maybe 700 So, it used to be three according to the No, it used to be nothing. Why nothing? Three days for Used to come to Used to have nothing clean days. Start from the beginning. I know, that's what that's we'll start from the beginning. The whole thing as we're afraid is, let's say she saw a ראייה one day, so make הפסק טהרה, the next day is her first clean day. What happens if she is פולטת זרע that day? Then that day can't count. Well, we don't know. This whole problem is only if she actually had ביאה right before the day she saw. What happens if she knows that she had didn't have ביאה for for a week? One second. So what so be if that's the case, there's nothing to be afraid of. The moment she she sees דם, that evening she can make הפסק טהרה and start counting the seven days. It's not shayach. Because the פולטת שכבת זרע is only three days. From when the זרע came to her, for the next three days, if she that comes out, that's called זרע. More than three days, that is more than 72 hours, it's not it's not fresh anymore, it's not healthy anymore, mimela, that doesn't count. Yeah. So we're afraid if she did have ביאה the day before, then there's two more days it's possible she should be פולטת, which would make a problem. Then she can't start counting, because we're not sure if she'd be or not, till after three days. What happens if she knows for sure that she didn't have ביאה? So why can't she start counting right away? So me'ikar hadin, that's how it was, that you did So the din used to be like this: a woman who had ביאה cannot start counting from three days after the ביאה. If she saw a ראייה a day after the ביאה, she has to wait two days. If she's didn't If she saw her ראייה four three days after the ביאה, so she doesn't have to wait anything, as soon as it's over. But then they were afraid maybe people make a mistake, and people will not know the difference between if she did have ביאה and she didn't have ביאה. So they said, you've got to wait from when you got You cannot start counting נקיים till three days passed. Now, really it should have been three days from the bi'ah, but they said three days from the ראייה. So that's how this so three days Then they said there's a possibility that what happens if she'll make a mistake, she'll have ביאה בין השמשות, and she'll think it's still the day before. Really bein hashemashot is already the next day. Memeila if she'll only wait three days, and she'll and she'll start counting it'll be with a minute before the three days are up, and then she'll be not counting, she'll be פולטת שכבת זרע a minute it'll spoil the day. So it became four days. Still three, still that הפסק טהרה. No. The day that she sees is the first, one of the three. No, let's say she'll see right away, no? She had bi'ah then, and then she saw right away. So that day doesn't count. If you make הפסק טהרה on the day you see? That evening, yeah. So the so the day is over already. So good, so that one day will be over. So it's one day, but there's the day you see and then. So you need two days more, that means three days, no? That means from the day she sees, counting that day, you need three days. Even if she had bein hashemashot it still is only three days. No. The day of the bi'ah is the day of the seeing. No. If she had if she had ביאה בין השמשות, and she she thinks really it's still the day before, really she had it a little later, and she's going to do הפסק טהרה then, and at that time, she might be poletet that minute, the last minute. You don't do הפסק טהרה till the day is over. Not the day is over. You do you do הפסק טהרה right before the day is over. Really it could be the next day, really when she saw last time, was really in the next day. So really, when she's going to do הפסק טהרה at the end of the day, and the next day is the third day, the day after the third, to start counting, really that's that's the third day of the bi'ah. She starts counting on the third day, it could be the third day of the bi'ah. Memeila, because of such a far-fetched-fetched thing, they made you should count have to count four days. Now,
where did five days come from? So the lashon it says that the הלכה בלי טעמא. There's no reason. So zot omeret, there is a far-fetched thing, two bein hashemashot'es are very far-fetched metzi'ut'es that could never happen. So who did that? The chachamim? So, the chachamim I don't I don't even say who exactly did it, but that started six, 700, yeah, I know. And it started, so they made you have to be five days. Ad kedei kach, some people wait six days. Ad hayom hazeh there are people who wait six days. Some Sefardim and some say some Hungarians wait six days. But I I I never heard anybody lema'aseh. But I heard, I heard, I didn't see anybody, but they still wait six days. But it's all based on this inyan that because she might be פולטת שכבת זרע. So lema'aseh lema'aseh is you cannot after till five five days. Then this is noge'a to other things, also. Other things also, like then some she'elot come up like that. There are she'elot of people who are just becoming ba'alei teshuvah. They're just starting to keep טהרת המשפחה. And there was a time that they they started counting שבעה נקיים, and because they're not used to it yet, so middle of the נקיים, what happened, they couldn't, you know, hold them back and he wasn't so frum, she was more frum, whatever, had bi'ah. What do you do vayter now? Now there's a problem. Since it's in the middle of the נקיים, so the days that you counted before, let's say it's fourth נקיים they counted, those four count. Now, she can't next day continue counting the נקיים, because so you have to wait three days, you have to wait five days. So here they didn't make to wait five days, here to wait four days. But even four days is לאו דוקא four days. Why is it four days? If you know when it was, if that day shouldn't count, the day after shouldn't count, the day after shouldn't count. So here דוקא certain קולות you could make. It's it's a Chavat Daat that says, I don't know, it's it's not so pashut, this Isn't it all a גזירה לגזירה because the whole שבעה נקיים is only because then she might be a זבה גדולה or something like that? So you're you're into a whole פרשה of גזירה לגזירה. Yeah. Because מעיקרא דדינא Yeah, in this thing we say גזירה לגזירה לגזירה. It's true. True, it's a גזירה לגזירה. It's all because of שכבת זרע. As long as there's no tumah today. No, it spoils the נקיים. Nothing to do with tumah. The tumah we talked about here. Nothing to do with tumah. The din is that Huh? נדה ביאה It's not tumah. It's issur. Niddah is also Nothing to do with tumah. It has to It's not a din of tumah. Nothing to do with tumah. The we we learned now that if a אשה is פולטת שכבת זרע, that spoils the נקיים. That's a din, one day. Even though it's Nothing to do with tumah. Doesn't have to do with tumah. There's a din for שבעה נקיים for niddah. Niddah is also No, not lemaaseh there's tumah also. No, even by niddah there's no tumah now. How come she's asur? So the
other day we went through this, that nowadays that the ראיות are that נדה איסור and tumah are two separate ענינים. עד כדי כך, there's a possibility That's exactly what There's a possi- possibility to be אסור לבעלה and not be טמא לתרומה, and there's a possibility to be טמא and not be אסור לבעלה. It could be, because they're two things. The same thing with this. This has a דין of טומאה. Fine. But besides that, there's another דין in פולטת שכבת זרע. That פולטת שכבת זרע takes away, is מבטל that day of the נקיים. Why? That's the דין. We learned it out. Not because of טומאה. Not because of טומאה. It has nothing to do with נדה, that's what he's asking. Nothing to do. The חכמים, the חכמים, the Torah we learn out from פסוקים. Actually, we learned out from the Torah. The טומאה from שכבת זרע is less than נדה The טומאה, yeah, it wasn't anyway. So, who cares if, isn't it... It's nothing to do, right. It has nothing to do with the טומאה. There's a דין that it סותר יומו. It סותר that day, that's all. And since we don't know when, That's what he's asking. Why is it סותר that day? Because it's not a דין of נדה. Why is a נדה, a נדה אסורה לבעלה? Why is a נדה אסורה ל... Yeah, yeah, yeah, tell me why. It's a, it's a איסור, איסור נדה. But she's not טמאה there. There's no טומאה nowadays. That איסור, she's... There's no טומאה nowadays, no? טומאה? We're all טמאים. There's no... We're all טמאים. טומאת מת, we're all טמאים, we can't... we're all טמאים. So, who cares? We're not caring about טומאה nowadays. It's a דין of איסור, it's not a din of tumah. Oh! The same thing here, שבעה נקיים is for the issur of niddah, not for the tumah. There's a din in the issur of niddah in the שבעה נקיים that פליטת שכבת זרע... But that, that's what, that's what we want to figure out. Why, how does it become in the din of niddah? That's what we want to know. You mean what, which pasuk tell, tells us this? There's a pasuk, we learn it out from a pasuk. We learn out from a pasuk it has to be this is סותר. The chachamim learned out from a pasuk that this is סותר. It has not because of the tumah. It סותר the yom. And it's a chiddush. Normally, we know by שבעה נקיים the only, what happens by שבעה נקיים is you're סותר from the beginning. If there's a סתירה to the שבעה נקיים, it goes away from the... Everything before doesn't count. פליטת שכבת זרע does. It just סותר that day. And the problem is, and that has nothing to do with the tumah of it. And the tumah anyway is not a טומאת נדה, the tumah of שכבת זרע, פליטת שכבת זרע is not טומאת נדה, it's a different type of tumah. טומאת נדה is a different type of tumah. But a bedikah during, a bedikah during שבעה נקיים when they find something wrong is also only סותר for a day, isn't it? Which which... No, it סותר the whole thing from before. Then which is only סותר one day? Only פליטת שכבת זרע. Nothing else is סותר that day. Every... Something else you're saying, you don't have to wait five days. See, that's also a mistake people make. What happens if in the middle of the שבעה נקיים she makes a בדיקה, and the בדיקה is no good? So, some people make a mistake and think that she now has to start waiting five days till she can make another הפסק טהרה. So, that we say you don't. You don't have to wait five days. You can do the הפסק right away. Why? Because the whole din of the five days is that you cannot start counting נקיים unless she was טמאה for five days. Why? Because if she was טמאה for five days, for sure she had no ביאה with the husband. In this case where in the middle of the נקיים she saw, if she's in the middle of the נקיים, she already is טמאה for more, more than five days. So, now she can start counting, you have an הפסק, הפסק טהרה right away. That's it. Why can't you say if you know you didn't live with your, with your wife, then you should be able to... We started with that. Originally, it was like that. If you lived with your wife, so then you can't start counting till three days after that. Right. If you lived with your wife a day before, you have to wait two days. If it's three days before, you have to wait, there's nothing to wait. But now... Then the Chachamim made that since we can't make differences, and women don't make the difference, and they don't know, blanket statement, everybody! Just like שבעה נקיים, from the Gemara's time. A woman normally does not have to wait שבעה נקיים, you don't have to wait seven clean days. A woman, she sees דם, for seven days she's טמאה, no matter whether she sees or not. After that, she can go to the mikvah if she stopped seeing. That's the דין, מדאורייתא that's the din. Why do you need שבעה נקיים? A זבה needs שבעה נקיים. And what's a זבה? A זבה is a woman who sees דם after the seven days of ימי נדה. And then within the next 11 days, if she sees דם, she's a זבה, and a זבה needs to wait שבעה נקיים. So, the Chachamim said, \"We don't know, we we're, the the חשבונות to keep if you're a זבה or not is confusing.\" And therefore they said, \"Wait.\" Everybody's... Everybody's, everybody has a din like a זבה, but not really. And when does that start, the שבעה נקיים from the time... Oh, that's in the Gemara's time, whenever it started. There's also lechatchilah that you should only start six days. That means that should be, because it gets already into different סוגיות. A זבה is only if she sees three days in a row. זבה גדולה, yeah. זבה גדולה, that's when you need שבעה נקיים. So, if she saw only one day, why would we even suspect she's a zavah? Even if she saw it in the time of the zivah, she's still not a זבה גדולה. So, really, what should be, really six days should be enough, but then it says that החמירו בנות ישראל על עצמן. They were mekabel upon themselves to have shivah neki'im. So, even though most cases shivah neki'im is not really, it doesn't make sense, you shouldn't have to. The same thing here is another level. Really, only a certain case where you have to count five days before you count the seven, you have to wait five days. They made a blanket statement: first they made three, then four, then five. Halachah lema'aseh, time if it's five, and that's it. And then and all is based on this nekudah: פליטת שכבת זרע, because there's a דין, פליטת שכבת זרע, if tumah or not, it has nothing to do with tumah, is סותר נקיים. Two dinim. In other words,
there are two separate dinim in פליטת שכבת זרע: one din is that she's teme'ah of tumah, nowadays there's no דיני טומאה anyway, so it makes no difference, and then there's another din that she can't count shivah neki'im. Lemashal in the middle of normal time, after she goes to the mikveh, does anything have to do with her פליטת שכבת זרע? In the time of the Gemara, yeah, because if she was פולטת שכבת זרע, she couldn't eat תרומה. Because you become tamei, you couldn't eat, I mean all kinds of things that you couldn't, and now you could. Okay, let's just do just one line. מניין לפולטת שכבת זרע ביום השלישי שתהא טמאה? How do you know even if it happens on the third day she's still teme'ah? The third day after the zera went into her, she's still teme'ah. שנאמר: \"היו נכנים לשלשת ימים\". He said, \"Stay away from your wife and for three days.\" Why? Why? Because you become tamei. There it's noge'a the tumah. So we say even the third day if it happens, it's tumah. So what we see from there is that פולטת שכבת זרע is considered a פולטת שכבת זרע for three days, which is six עונות, six half days, 72 hours. That means that for 72 hours the zera is still considered zera. After 72 hours, it's nisrach, it's that it starts getting spoiled and it doesn't count. Yes.
