Kohen Gadol鈥檚 inspection of sacrifices on Erev Yom Kippur

Yeah. It says by the Kohen Gadol on 注专讘 讬讜诐 讻讬驻讜专 they would pass by him, they would make him look at the 驻专讬诐, 讗讬诇讬诐, 讜讻讘砖讬诐, the bulls, the rams, and the sheep. Tanya we, because these were the korbanot they had to bring on 讬讜诐 讻讬驻讜专, so he should be well familiar with it. Tanya, in the Beraita it says, Also, the 砖注讬专讬诐 they would take, goats. So how come in the Mishnah it doesn't mention it? Just mentions they took the 驻专讬诐, the 讗讬诇讬诐, and the 讻讘砖讬诐, why not the 砖注讬专讬诐? So obviously, our 转谞讗 in the Mishnah holds that they only took in front of him the 驻专讬诐, the 讗讬诇讬诐, and 讻讘砖讬诐, they did not take the 砖注讬专讬诐, why not? So it says, 讻讬讜谉 讚注诇 讞讟讗 拽讗转讜 讗转讬, since it comes for an aveirah, it comes for a kapparah, 讞诇砖讗 讚注转讬讛. So if he's 注专讘 讬讜诐 讻讬驻讜专 going to see the 砖注讬专讬诐, which remind him of the 砖注讬专 and remind him of the 讞讟讗, of the 讞讟讗讬诐, he's going to feel bad. The 驻专讬诐 also, because one of the korbanot was a 驻专, and the 驻专 was to be 诪讻驻专 on his 注讘讬专讜转 and the family's 注讘讬专讜转, so they also remind of 讞讟讗讬诐. But the Gemara answers, 讻讬讜谉 讚注诇讬讜 讜注诇 讗讞讬讜 讛讻讛谞讬诐, since that is to forgive for him and for the other 讻讛谞讬诐, 谞讜, 讚讗转讬 it comes for that, so he himself obviously, if it reminds him of an aveirah, it's not bad, let him do teshuvah! So that's going to make him do teshuvah. If there is a kohen that take has some aveirah, he knows about it, 讜诪讬讛讚专 诇讬讛 讘转砖讜讘讛, 讗讚专讘讛, it'll make him do teshuvah. But the other one, the 砖注讬专讬诐, that came for 讻讜诇讬 讬砖专讗诇, that's for 诪讻驻专 all the 讬讬讚谉, 诇讗 讬讚注, that he doesn't know who did what, and that will remind him there is aveirot and there's nothing I can do about it, and it's going to make him feel bad, that's why they didn't do it. So that's why they stay away from it.

Proverb about staying away from a familiar authority figure

讗诪专 专讘讬谞讗, 专讘讬谞讗 says: 讛讬讬谞讜 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, this is what people say, used to be an expression like this: 讗讬 讘专 讗讞转讱 讚讬讬诇讗 讛讜讬, if the son of your sister becomes a a a 砖讜讟专 讛诪诇讱, becomes a officer of the government, 讞讝讬转讬讛 讘砖讜拽讗 拽诪讬讛 诇讗 转讞诇讬祝. If you see him far away in the street, don't pass by him, leave. That was if a relative of yours or somebody he knows you well becomes the the the the policeman, he knows more about you, he knows all your details, stay away from him! So that's an expression, the same thing here, that they say when it comes to the 砖注讬专, stay away from the 砖注讬专 because you know too much. See, it says that he would eat very little on 注专讘 讬讜诐 讻讬驻讜专 so he shouldn't come 讟诪讗. So the Gemara brings things 谞讜讙注 a 讝讘. 转谞讜 专讘谞谉, 专讘谞谉 讛讗讘谉 讙注诇注专谞讟: 讝讘, if a person's a 讝讘, and if you are a 讝讘, then there's a 讚讬谉 of one 专讗讬讬讛 and two 专讗讬讜转 or three 专讗讬讜转, and then you have to go to the 诪拽讜讛 to... you have all kinds of 讚讬谞讬诐 of a 讝讘. If you know a reason why the 讝讬讘讛 came, then he doesn't have regular 讚讬谉 of a 讝讘. That means that there is, no, wherever it is, because on one side it doesn't have anything else that grows, because if you have other things that grow, it takes away the 讻讞, Rashi says it weakens the 讻讞 of it, but if it's like on its own area, then it has a stronger 讻讞 and it helps your eyes. One鈥慸ay marriages announced by traveling sages

Rav when he came to, when he happened to be in 讚专讚砖讬专, 诪讻专讬讝, he would make an announcement, 诪讗谉 讛讜讬讗 诇讬讜诪讗, who wants to marry me for one day? He came to the city for a day, so he wanted a wife, so he would marry somebody there. But the Gemara answers, 讗诪专讬, I'll tell you, 专讘谞谉 拽诇讗 讗讬转 诇讛讜, this is only by stam people, cause they don't know, but a talmid chacham is a 拽讜诇, so everyone will know that this son, this boy was born by this woman who married one day this chacham, and the other, the girl married to, so it won't come to coming to marry each other. So they're going to have a wedding, no, and all the families are going to come, so they didn't know. Yeah, but not, you forget, first of all, they probably married very quietly. If you marry for one day, you probably made no fuss over it. If anybody's interested, rocket is arugula. Huh? Arugula. Arugula, what's arugula? You never heard of arugula? Arugula, I know arugula. Arugula you can buy in Publix. In salad, or... Yeah, okay. It's commonly used now. Yes, comes in that. Okay, so that's It's very healthy. Yeah. A little bitter. And that's for eyes, good for eyes. Does science say that? Full of bugs. I've never heard of anybody say if it had any... It's like a lettuce, huh? Absolutely. It's good, so it's small leaves. It's not small, it's very hard to check. Okay, you know how to check it, there's no problem to check.

Halachic questions about marrying for a single day

Gemara, how could he marry a wife for one day? 讜讛讗诪专 专讘讗, didn't Rava say, 转讘注讜讛 诇讬谞砖讗, if you ask a woman to marry, 讜谞转驻讬讬住讛, and she agrees, 爪专讬讻讛 诇讬砖讘 砖讘注讛 谞拽讬讬诐, she has to wait seven days. How could he marry her today? She has to wait seven days and go to the mikveh before she gets married. They would know that fact, in other words, they... came in that day, they would send a message before, and saying that anybody who wanted would prepare herself seven days, and when he comes they get married for one day, and the next day he divorces her and he leaves. I mean, they could have a whole bunch of women that they could pick. Why couldn't Why, if the women were already were already counting, expecting that maybe No, no. Yeah, it's only when you know that you're going to marry. Yeah, but you're not allowed to marry a woman You're not allowed to marry a woman if you don't intend to marry her. Well, depends. If it's 讚注转讜 诇讙专砖讛, depends why. Depends why you want to divorce her. You don't like her. Right. Is machshavah Yeah. The Tumim family There's two pshatim. One pshat is because the pasuk, the pasuk, no no, why you can't marry... One pshat is because you're tricking her. She doesn't know that. It says if the Rambam, the Rambam says two reasons. So according to that reason, you're allowed to, because she made up milechatchilah. What did you say, Tumim? The Tumim family, they, he was a real good-looking bachur, and he was a big lamdan, everybody wanted him, but he was walking and then the princess Wilhelmina, the king's daughter, saw him. She came home and she said, \"I saw this guy. That's who I want to get married to.\" \"Who is it?\" \"This guy.\" \"Jewish guy? Are you crazy?\" She said, \"No, I got to marry him, this and that.\" \"All right, so we'll have to convert him.\" So the so the rav, somebody found out that they're going to come to be 转讜讘注 the son, so married him off. Going away, so they have to have to marry somebody right now today. They couldn't find whom to marry on such short notice. Nobody would marry him on such short notice. So he had to marry the maid, a young maid. And they stayed married? That was the thing, after the after the chattunah, they told the princess, \"We're sorry, he's married already.\" And the next day, the mother says, \"All right, let's make the divorce.\" \"How can I do that to her?\" They said to her, \"Are you ready lekabel the get?\" She says, \"No.\" They said to her, you know, \"You want to force her?\" And he said, \"No.\" And then and then they had she had two sets of Tumim. Tumim. Like similar like similar the story from the the the the Shpaler Zeide. Yeah. Not as far as Reb Leib Sarah's. Reb Leib Sarah's also, the pritz wanted to marry, the whole story with Reb Leib Sarah's. Yeah, that's why he's called Reb Leib Sarah's, because his mother was Sarah, and she agreed to marry this old man, that was the thing. The melamed. Melamed. So he wanted her, not this was the opposite, he wanted, nice, the pritz's son wanted her, and then they were going to go together and then, so had to marry her off, and there was nobody there, just the 讗诇讟注 诪诇诪讚. So she said, \"For one day I'll marry him.\" And the next day, when they came to divorce, she said she doesn't want to. This guy did such a big favor. They stayed, and they had a child, and the child was Reb Leib Sarah's. And Reb Leib Sarah's is such a big person that his name is even mentioned in Sefer Raziel Hamalach, in the back. Raziel Hamalach? Yeah. Mentioned there as what? As a tefillah, a tefillah of Reb Leib ben Sarah. Who was the girl that the prince wanted to marry her and then she passed away? No, that's the whole thing. Made an error, the Rebbe said, it shows the 讗诪讬转讬讜转 of the inyan that they have 讻转讘讬诐 of this sefer with this tefillah in the back before Reb Sarah was born, and there's no other person in history in Jewish history which we know with the name of Leib ben Sarah. I mean, no famous person. If something gets in there, it must be somebody big, not stam. So, but it says there. Rabbi Shabazi, a Yemenite, a big rabbi. Yeah. Mekubal, gadol. Yeah. So she was walking to the chatunah, and he killed her with a with a... B'shem Hashem'? Yeah, killed. Yeah. Shpaler Zayde. What did he do to her? Killed her. With the shem, with like she died. Her father killed her? The father killed her because the the Arab want to marry her. Want to take her to the palace. The name was not Sarah. But the Rebbe said, that's the Rebbe said, that he thinks it's the same person, even though the name of the mothers are different. His name is in the, his mother, why couldn't he save her? Save her. Her name was not Sarah. Why kill her? Kill the Arab. Kill the Arab, they're going to kill all the Jews. No, with the shem. I say, they... How could he kill the Arab? How would they know that he died? They know him very well, this guy. Being mekubal, anything happens there, they know he done it. How do they know, so they should blame him and they for for the girl too then? If they know everything, they could blame him for the girl, too. But the only, it says Moshe Rabbeinu knew how to kill with the Shem Hashem. He killed a 诪爪专讬 with the Shem Hashem. Nobody learns the Tumim anymore. I don't see the sefer around. Urim veTumim? Urim veTumim? It's not the same Tumim. The Tumim, that might have been... What? The Tumim, Sefer Tumim, the Urim veTumim is written by sefer by Rabbi Yehonatan Eibeshitz. That's not the, that must be different, this is. No, yeah... There is a different Tumim. There is, in the back of this Gemara, there's a 诪驻专砖. that's written by Frankel, Frankel Tumim I think. Not, not, not with a 转讜祝, like a, a tefillin. Tumim, Tumim. Yeah, modern Gemaras it's, what's his name? He's a Chassidishe Rebbe. He's a, he's a Chassidishe Rebbe, I know. But it's in the back of the Gemara they have a 诪驻专砖 the Tumim. Frankel Tumim, I forget what he is, I think so. I think it's not, it's not, it was not easy to find a shidduch for him. To find, one day, one day it's hard to find. So that's not such a long time ago, the, the Tumim. That's a long I think a long This one that what the one that we're talking about is such Before, I mean after, I think, even, even after, 150 years ago or something. I found that sefer. Talking about that, I was Look, look at that one. Look at that one? He takes that, the tie wire, and pulls the whole Now we could get ready.
