The topic is, it's not a תורה, הלכה topic or a חסידות topic, this is more a facts finding finding fact topic of something that's נוגע very close to us, that's the whole idea of the שיחות and how it works and how it became and what this is all about. And the main שאלה that people ask, and it seems very strange to ask such a question, but because it's already so many years people don't know, what is the difference between you have the שיחות קודש of the different years פארברענגענס, and then you have ליקוטי שיחות, and what's called בלתי מוגה, הנחה בלתי מוגה, יא מוגה, not מוגה, how does this all this work? Let me just give you a בקיצור, because there's only half-hour left, so just בקיצור what the whole נקודה is, how it how it is. From beginning of תש״י, when the רבי took over the נשיאות, when the רבי would פארברענג, somebody would write down the שיחות. After the פארברענגען you would sit down and write down. How did you how were you able to write it down? Well, people listened and would remember, and then afterwards they would sit down and make חזרה, they would חזר over the שיחות, and then someone would write down. The only one that would write down those years was רב יואל, he was the main חוזר of the רבי, and he would make the הנחות. Why is writing down what the רבי said called a הנחה? Because the word comes from מניח על הכתב. You take something that he said and you put it down on paper, that's why it's called a הנחה. It's the same thing like עקירה and הנחה on שבת, so you have a הנחה. So you would put it on על הכתב. I even remember people would some people would sometimes write down for themselves, but they weren't professionals and they didn't know for sure, so they would write down not taking no responsibilities, I remember guys would write, הנחה? עקירה בלא הנחה. To make to people should realize that it's not a real הנחה. But the official הנחה was made by רב יואל. The רבי did not check it over, the רבי did not edit it, the רבי did not look it over. And because the רבי didn't look it over, they used to write, הנחה בלתי מוגה. בלתי מוגה means not checked over, not not edited, the רבי didn't check over, which it's possible that there could be mistakes there, and could be many mistakes. One mistake could be you don't remember exactly what the רבי said, mistaking. One could be you don't didn't understand what the רבי said exactly. That could be another way of mistake. Some you learned wrong פשט. Hopefully, בדרך כלל it's more or less remembering what people remembered the רבי said. And the רבי טאקע told somebody in יחידות once that the חוזר בכלל writes very good, even though sometimes there are things that could be wrong. But בדרך כלל it's good, but it's not the רבי's responsibility, because it's the responsibility of the people who wrote it. And actually the רבי wanted that when you write when they give out these שיחות, on every page it should say on the bottom הנחה בלתי מוגה, because it should make clear that this is הנחה בלתי מוגה.

The first years the רבי wouldn't even let that they should print it. Now when I say print, I don't mean print like we have ספרים. There used to be, now people don't even know what that means, there used to be, they used to call, they would make a stencil. Stencil is that they would type something up on a special type of paper, and you take that paper and you put it into a machine, and with your hand you would turn the machine, or later on it would go by electricity, and this would make every time it would touch a piece of paper, it would make a copy of what you had. That was a stencil called a blue stencil and it came out looking blue. Then there was a better stencil, they used to call it sometimes a Gestetner, because the company Gestetner gave out those stencils that you would type it on special kind of paper and you would put that in a different machine, it would come out black, but it was all typed. It wasn't even printed, the font wasn't print, it was a typed font, which is different than print. And the רבי originally didn't want even it to be stenciled, the blue, because the רבי, since it's not the רבי didn't check it over, there's no אחריות, so the רבי didn't want. The רבי himself said he has no time to write the שיחות, or the same thing, the מאמרים, so it was written down by רב יואל, and it was given out as a הנחה בלתי מוגה. Actually, the word הנחה בלתי מוגה is not על פי דקדוק, because the word הנחה is לשון נקבה. So how should it be? הנחה בלתי מוגהת. So we learned פשט you have to write הנחה, number one it's a הנחה, the רבי didn't write it, it's just somebody put it down on paper, and by the way, it's בלתי מוגה. The thing is not מוגה. But that's how it came out for the first So they didn't even print it, they didn't even stencil it. So what did they do? רב יואל would make the הנחה, there would be somebody who would copy it over, type it over. רב יואל would type it up the first copy, give it into the רבי Somebody would take it and retype it, and they would type it with 15 copies. They would put in what they would call I forgot even what it's called. It used to be very thin onion skin paper it was called, very thin. And in the middle you put in I forgot so many years, I forgot what's it called, a black thing that when you type on one paper and you have that thing in the middle, the next page gets the same typing. And they would do that 15 in a thick, so by the time it got to the last copy, it was so blurred you can hardly read it, but that's how it was. And then this person would give it out to whoever. Someone else maybe typed it also and did the same thing, but there were not too many copies around. But the people had these שיחות. That was הנחות from what the רבי said, בלתי מוגה, the רבי wasn't מגיה. אמאל אמאל the רבי would be מגיה a שיחה if it was for a special occasion. So that would be printed. Okay.

Till it came the year תשי״ח. תשי״ח for שבועות, a group of אנ״ש, בחורים of אנ״ש got together and wrote to the רבי that they want, they asked the רבי that every week the רבי should be מגיה a שיחה. This was supposed to be a present for the רבי's anniversary. תשי״ט was how many years from the רבי's wedding? פ״ט was their marriage, פ״ט to צ״ט, תש״ט, י״ט, 30 years. So they said תשי״ח that for the רבי's 30th anniversary, they want to give the רבי like a present, that the רבי should be מגיה, it's a present, he should work more, okay, should be מגיה the שיחות. And the תירוץ they gave the רבי was that since the רבי wants everyone to go to the שול's on שבת to חזר חסידות, and you need material to say. And the רבי first was very upset. ר' חודקוב scolded the guys, \"How do you dare to take away time from the רבי, even suggested?\" And the רבי said that every second is important, and he has to answers letters of people who ask שאלות in health reasons and סכנה things, and because of this שיחות is the רבי going to spend time on this, he won't be able to answer. But these guys האבן זיך געהאלטן and they answered again and anyway, the end was they succeeded. And the רבי agreed. So what did they do? The סדר would be like this: ר' יואל would choose a שיחה from one of the past years which have a שייכות to this פרשה. It actually started with שבועות, תשי״ח. To choose a שיחה that the רבי said במשך of those 8 years that has to do with שבועות, and they would take out that שיחה from the פארברענגען, let's say it was a פארברענגען of שבועות, I'm just giving an example, תשי״ג, פארברענגען had 10 שיחות, פארברענגען is 25 pages, take out 5 pages, or one שיחה from that פארברענגען, give it in to the רבי, and the רבי should be מגיה it and they would give it out. That's how it happened. So the רבי מגיה, and they gave it out. They gave it out stenciled, even that was not printed, was stenciled, black stencil, and it came with a cover, a green cover, it was bent over, and on the outside the name of this thing was תוכן, on top it said the word תוכן, and the second line was ענינים בדא״ח לחזור בבתי כנסיות. And it was with a green cover. And the רבי was מגיה that week after week for a full year till next year שבועות. Next year, and the רבי, the way he was מגיה, they're like this: they would type it up on the, they would type, first have to type, give it into the רבי, the רבי made his corrections and whatever he did, the רבי would give it out. They'd give it out, they would type it up on the stencil. And the copy of the stencil they would give to the רבי after with the רבי's corrections. The רבי would look at it and be מגיה a second time. And whatever corrections the רבי made, they would correct in the stencil, because you were able to correct with certain ink whatever, גאנצע געשעפטן, and they would give it out, and that's how it went out for a year. At the end of the year, the רבי said he's stopping to give it out. Why is he stopping? So one of the things he said that that he thinks that people are not learning it enough and it's not basically worth to spend his time and people חסידים are not learn really learning it. And I have to say also the לשון they took the שיחה the way the רבי said it, and when you speak is one way and when you write down something בכתב and it's in a formal way, it's sometimes you repeat yourself, sometimes you say this. So the רבי wanted, he said it has to be different. So the רבי stopped being מגיה. So, the רבי did, so that what they did was at the end of the year, this was given out officially by צא״ח, the רבי, they took all the the קונטרסים from the year, bound them together, and they gave out a bound book, and then they gave it a name לקוטי שיחות. Then they took these bound books and instead of making more copies of that stencil, they printed it. They gave it to a printer and the printer printed it, and it came out as לקוטי שיחות. So you have חלק א׳ and ב׳ were the שיחות that came out weekly in the year תשי״ח into י״ט, from שבועות י״ח to שבועות תשי״ט. When they gave out these two volumes, they already, at the end of the second volume, they put in some הוספות. They found שיחות from years before which the רבי happened to be מגיה for other occasions, which had a שייכות, and they put it in again. They found letters from the רבי that had a שייכות to the פרשיות, they put in and so there are the הוספות. So came out these two volumes. And that's it, and these were the two volumes that existed, לקוטי שיחות, מוגה'דיקע שיחות from the רבי.

Came תשכ\"ג, so a group of people decided, יואל, others, that we have to try again. And for פרשת בראשית תשכ\"ג, they said to the רבי, asked the רבי if the רבי would be מגיה again, and the רבי agreed. But, and they told the רבי this time they're going to make that the סגנון, the style of the way it's written should be more professional. And the רבי בכלל was a professional person. He couldn't take if it's not written professionally, even though when you speak, you speak one way. He wanted that it should be the same thing that he said. Also the רבי said that, \"I want that not only you should write what I said, look up everything I said. When I say the פשט in the גמרא like this, I bring a מדרש, look up the מדרש. Look up all these things and what will happen? Besides that you'll you'll see what it really says there, you'll see what I said, there's much more to it than what I said. There's much more to it. Because when you look up the מראי מקומות and you see what the רבי said, 'Oh, now I see he meant even more.' And you have to write it the way you see that the רבי, ליגט in what the רבי said.\" So they gave it in, and the רבי was מגיה again for a whole year from בראשית תשכ\"ג till the end of תשכ\"ג. And then the רבי stopped again. The רבי stopped. Then this turned into, that year the same style, those print, typed pages with a cover. This time the cover was blue, not green, and it said the same thing. The truth is I tried to find in my house, for a minute, I didn't time to look. Maybe if I find the old one, just to bring to see what it looks like, it's it's it's I couldn't see אויבנאויף, not the green one, not the not the blue one. And that they printed up now, and it became חלק ג' and ד' of לקוטי שיחות. And they made also הוספות to חלק, at the end of חלק ד', also the same idea, found some שיחות that the רבי was מגיה some other time, some letters, and it became חלק ג' and ד'. And then the רבי stopped. Then became that they started sending out, ועד להפצת שיחות, this is the the ועד which is connected to spreading the רבי's שיחות, decided to send out every week שיחות to different ישיבות, different addresses of different people. What did they do? They took שיחות that were in לקוטי שיחות, and made copies of it, weekly copies, and would send it out. And they sent it out every week many many copies to different people. And this went on for a few years, till it came to the year תשכ\"ט. We're talking here, started maybe תשכ\"ו or כ\"ז. A few years they sent out. כ\"ט they continued sending it out, but the problem was that one week there was nothing to send, because all the available שיחות that have to do with that פרשה were already sent out the year before or two years before. So there was a סברא said by people who were sitting, talking, maybe we should ask the רבי to be מגיה a special שיחה for this week. It was פרשת ויקרא, don't think פרשת שמות, have to remind myself, that ר' יואל made a new שיחה that the רבי was never מגיה, and he gave it in to the רבי. And lo and behold, the רבי was מגיה. They wrote to the רבי that we don't have anything to send out this week, and the רבי was מגיה. Now that the רבי did that, so automatically a few more times that year, there were weeks that there was not enough what to send. Whether there was or there wasn't, we have to debate, but wrote to the רבי this week there's not really what to send, if the רבי can מגיה again. The רבי was מגיה. So there are quite a few, quite, not too many, but a few שיחות that the רבי was מגיה תשכ\"ט. Now I want to just say when the רבי was מגיה the שיחות then, it was the same way, but this time already it was printed. They would print it into a קונטרס, and the קונטרס was called לקוטי שיחות, and they would prepare it, type it up, give it in to the רבי. The רבי was מגיה, made his corrections. Then when he made his corrections, then they took it to the printer, and the printer האָט עס אויפגעזעצט, the typesetting, already in printed letters on big, big, long papers with the רבי's corrections. It was these long papers were given in to the רבי again, and the רבי was מגיה a second time. And many times the second הגהה was even more than the first. And after that they gave it back to the printer, made the new corrections, and it came out the קונטרס. Here I have an example of see, these are the קונטרסים, called לקוטי שיחות. See, these are קונטרסים that came out weekly. It's nothing, and then this was תשכ\"ט, and the רבי was מגיה twice. How were the שיחות is made. So I want to tell you again this, I just said it before, but I'll say it again. When the רבי spoke by a פארברענגען, הנחות were made of the פארברענגען. And that went on all the years. Even when a שיחה, לקוטי שיחות came out every week, that had nothing to do with the פארברענגענס. If the רבי פארברענגט, then there was חזרה after the פארברענגען, and the הנחות were made. Till תשכ״ג, כ״ד, ר' יואל made only the הנחות. Later that changed. ר' יואל had no time to make the הנחות. He was involved in the ספר הערכים, cuz the רבי gave him a special job of writing the encyclopedia of חסידות. When he wrote it in the beginning, nobody even knew the name is going to be. We always knew he's working on the encyclopedia of חסידות. And when it came to print the first volume, it was thought that it'll be called Encyclopedia of חסידות. And the רבי said encyclopedia is not a Yiddish word. So the רבי gave it the name ספר הערכים. Ah? Why didn't they say it in Talmudic Encyclopedia? I don't know, that's their business. No, so the רבי had no objections? No, but they they didn't ask the רבי what name to give it. Ah? What does it mean? Encyclopedia is made up of ערכים. I know in English, what do you call every subject in an encyclopedia? That's what it's called? No, it goes according to alphabet. What's each thing called? Each each word that has a whole description. I don't know whatever, but in Hebrew it's called an ערך. Each one is an ערך. You have ערך אהבת ישראל, ערך צמצום, ערך each, so it's called ספר הערכים. Anyway, so then people, other people, started writing the שיחות. And then, at one point, a few guys got together to decide to not only to write it and have copies of it, but also to give it out stenciled, and in a form of a הנחה בלתי מוגה. But because we didn't want to take away ר' יואל's trademark, so we changed the words from הנחה בלתי מוגה to הנחות התמימים בלתי מוגה. That's where הנחות התמימים became. If you notice, you look in the original שיחות from the earlier years like till תשכ״ג, every הנחה, every פארברענגען that's in the שיחות קודש, which is בלתי מוגה, it says הנחה בלתי מוגה. Anything starting from תש, later from תשכ״ו, it says הנחות התמימים בלתי מוגה. We had a whole a whole discussion about it. We were sitting, and I I was the one that claimed that I don't want to use the word הנחה בלתי מוגה. We want to make it clear that it's not ר' יואל, shouldn't give him the shouldn't give any טענות that people have, that it's wrong, something is mistake, should go on his חשבון, right? So, anyway, the whole discussion, we changed, we decided to write הנחות התמימים בלתי מוגה. Were you involved in the first first four books also? No, no, תשכ״ח, תשכ״ג, no, that's that's. And what and what made gave us the courage to write the הנחות? Because we was תשכ״ו, יו״ד שבט at night, we were sitting in 770. The night, the פארברענגען of the רבי was the second night. We were sitting the night before saying, learning משניות, יו״ד שבט, sitting a few בחורים. הרב קליין comes over to us and says הרב חדקוב wants to see you in his office. Now, הרב חדקוב called you in his office, that already, cuz הרב חדקוב to go to him was you know, you know it's something from the רבי, it's not it's not. So we got very excited and very nervous. So what does he want from us? So we came in. So he said to us, the רבי asked to ask you, \"Are you guys ready to accept upon yourself to become חוזרים, to help with חזרה of the פארברענגענס?\" Cuz we used to sit by חזרה and also help, but to become official. And what do you think we answered? אודאי, the רבי asked. Good. So he said, \"Good, I'll give over to the רבי.\" Fine. Next night it was a פארברענגען, the רבי's פארברענגען, and we were all, you know, nervous and. Came שבת, came after יו״ד שבט פארברענגען, הרב חדקוב gave over to us that the רבי wondered why you guys didn't come over in the middle of the פארברענגען to say לחיים. So he says, \"Since you didn't do that, so you should come on שבת.\" So שבת, middle of the פארברענגען, the four of us went up to the רבי, up to the בימה. Who were the four? הרב פיקארסקי, אפרים פיקארסקי, הרב שלמה זרחי, and הרב שלום בער לויטין, from from Seattle. So we went up to the רבי with לחיים. We're all standing there, and the רבי turns around to the one that was standing first, says, \"נו, וואס? What do you want?\" So it was very clear that the רבי wanted us to actually say that we accept upon ourselves, didn't want it just. So he says, \"Well, we accept upon ourselves to help with חזרה.\" \"אח,\" so the רבי said, \"לחיים ולברכה.\" Next one that's Oh, no, he said, \"דו אויך? You, too?\" Yeah. So, \"You, too? You, too?\" All four of us. And we went back down. Now those years, the רבי sat here, this is the פארברענגען, ר' יואל sat his place here, and we all had our places here. As we walked away, the רבי turns around to ר' יואל, and he says, \"נו, you should אודאי say לחיים.\" So he started saying לחיים. So the רבי said, \"Yeah, but it's not good, or you go to them or let them come to you.\" So ר' יואל got up to start walking to us. So the רבי said, \"You're walking to them? So דאס זיין בעלי אושפיזין של בעלים?\" So we all got up and we all came there, and as we came there, the רבי turned around to all of us and told us to say לחיים again and made like this. What does this mean? A big cup. No, like this לחיים he used to give a little כוס. A big cup. So, we all took big Okay, it wasn't משקה then there, by פארברענגענ'ס it was only wine, but we all drank a cup, and then the רבי said, \"If any of the fathers of these בחורים are here, should also say לחיים.\" And there were only two fathers there: Rabbi Piekarski's father and Rabbi Levitin's father. My father was in Cleveland and Rabbi Zarchi's father wasn't there. So the רבי told him to say לחיים, and from far away the רבי told saw Rabbi Piekarski's father told, \"Say לחיים,\" and he said loud, \"יפה כח הבן מכח האב.\" But at that same פארברענגען, a שיחה before, the רבי explained what's the פשט, \"יפה כח הבן מכח האב,\" that the son is better than the father. יפה כח הבן מכח האב, where does the son get his כח? He gets it from the father! That's what the רבי explained, so it wasn't like an insult to saying he's better than you, which anyway is not an insult. All I can tell you that the next שיחה I didn't hear a word. I know what it was all about, about the סלואו, I remember, but so nervous and so excited, you know, that anyway, so that gave us the courage that we sat down later and we write the הנחות and give out the הנחות called הנחות התמימים. But that's all בלתי מוגה, and that's how it went on for all the years, till till תשל\"ב, till till כ\"ז אדר. It wasn't us because we changed and other people started writing the הנחות, but הנחה בלתי מוגה it continued on for all the years. But we're going back now for the ליקוטי שיחות, which means taking a שיחה that's not from the פארברענגען, taking a שיחה for each שבת, looking up old שיחות. In תשל\"ב, you could make a שיחה that the רבי said in תשי\"ז, but you have to look and check out, figure out a certain שיחה that you feel fits fits for the פרשה, learn it through deep and look through it, and prepare it for the רבי to be מגיה. So we're going back to תשכ\"ט. So תשכ\"ט, the רבי was מגיה a few for that year. Came תש\"ל, so the רבי was written, written to the רבי, \"This year we have nothing to send out. So the רבי should we start being מגיה every week.\" The רבי agreed. So the רבי was מגיה a שיחה every week, the same way, they would give it in, the רבי was מגיה, put it up on these long galleys we called them, gave it back to the רבי, was מגיה a second time, then it was, and it came out as a קונטרס. Every week, a קונטרס ליקוטי שיחות. 2 years passed, so it's תש\"ל, ל\"א, and then the רבי stopped. Now the שיחות from these 2 years turned into the volumes of חלק ה' through חלק ט'. So if you look in חלק ה' and חלק ט', and you look in the front where it says every שיחה which year the ליקוט was printed, you'll see some it says three 3 years. In ליקוטי שיחות every פרשה למשל from חלק ה' to ט' has שיחה א', שיחה ב'. There are a few פרשיות which have שיחה א', ב', and ג'. Why ג'? Because the ones that the רבי was מגיה in תשכ\"ט came into this volume. Then the רבי stopped. And the reason the רבי stopped he spoke about in פארברענגען, he said, because ר' יואל shouldn't do it anymore because ר' יואל is the רבי wanted he should do the ספר הערכים, and to the רבי that was more important than the שיחות to be מגיה. Whatever the reason is, a whole bunch of things there that's פרטי פרטים which are not נוגע, that the public doesn't even know, but the רבי stopped. But it was a shame that the רבי stopped being מגיה. So what happened? That year, so he was מגיה ל', ל\"א. ל\"ב he wasn't מגיה.

ל\"ב we sat, a few יונגעלייט of us, I was married already, and Rabbi Leibel Kaplan, עליו השלום, was married, my cousin actually, Nachman, was not married, we were sitting and said, \"We got to do something. We got to see let the שיחה start coming out again, the רבי מגיה again, because when the רבי מגיה a שיחה, you have the רבי's it's all It's there, you can learn, you can see the רבי's what the רבי talked, but it's not The רבי didn't check it over. You don't know if it's real, you don't know if it's right, you don't know it's it's not You have to have the רבי And he was מגיה the שיחות he added so much to it and depth and even the preparation added depth because when you looked at it you saw. And the רבי תאקע gave over and he said, \"You guys write the way you understand what I said. Even if I didn't say it clearly, but if you think that's what I meant, write it. And I'll check it over. If it's wrong, I'll turn write it's wrong and I'll fix,\" and the רבי changed a lot of times, \"and if you're right, I'll leave it like that.\" So, became so we need, so we sat down, we decided we're gonna try who will make the שיחות. So the three of us, so there were two people involved in the גשמיות of ועד להפצת שיחות is Rabbi Chanin, זלמן חנין, and שלום יעקבסון, and the three of us, Rabbi Kaplan, עליו השלום, Rabbi Kaplan, and Reb נחמן שפירא, who is now in אהלי תורה, and myself sat down. \"Let's work on the שיחות. Let's see if we could get the רבי to מגיה the שיחות.\" So we sat down through the summer and we prepared a שיחה for בראשית, נח, לך לך, וירא, חיי שרה, תולדות, I think ויצא also, I think seven שיחות. We worked on it best that in our ability and we just prepared it, and we had Rabbi העשקע דובראווסקי, he was a very good writer, so he was מסגנן and he made sure that the סגנון, the style is written על פי דקדוק and written correctly. And we decided to change it to לשון קודש. Maybe that'll be better because we thought that in ארץ ישראל people don't speak יידיש and they want to learn the שיחות. How they're going to learn the שיחות? So they have to get a translation, this. Let's make it in לשון קודש, so we tried. Now if the רבי doesn't want, he'll tell us. And we took the שיחות, seven פרשיות, and we gave it into the רבי in the summertime, right into the רבי, signed our names that we wrote these שיחות, we are ready to continue, we want to work, and we're asking the רבי to be מגיה. We waited and waited, no answer, no answer. נאך א וואך, נאך א וואך, another week, no answer. It got closer to תשרי, and תשרי we knew the רבי doesn't have time. Came תשרי, ראש השנה, no answer. We didn't know the רבי is happy, not happy, does want, not want. And we waited in עשרת ימי תשובה, nothing. Came סוכות. That year שמחת תורה was Tuesday and איסרו חג is already Wednesday, until שבת בראשית, if this going to come out, בפועל nothing came out. Came חול המועד סוכות, nothing. We knew that years before הושענא רבה at night was a time when the רבי if there was a שיחה to be מגיה, he used to be מגיה הושענא רבה at night. So we said we have a hope, הושענא רבה at night after the רבי finished saying חומש and before he came down to תהלים, he's מגיה a שיחה. So all three of us, actually I think all five of us were standing upstairs not far from the רבי's room, hoping that when Rabbi גראנער will come out from the רבי, he'll come out with a מוגה'דיקע שיחה and that'll be ששון ושמחה. Came out, no שיחה, nothing. רבי came down to תהלים, nothing. Didn't know what to do. The next day is הושענא רבה and then שמחת תורה. We didn't know what to do. We decided שמחת תורה by כוס של ברכה we're all five going to go together. We'll make a demonstration! We'll go to the רבי together כוס של ברכה to show that, you know. We walked by, going the רבי gave each one of us כוס של ברכה and he looked at us. And זלמן חנין, he was the one that's אחראי, he was the גשמיות'דיקער, he ran the מוסד, so the רבי looked at him, gave him כוס של ברכה, and then gave him a bottle of משקה like he used to give all the שלוחים. He gave it to him like this with a big smile: \"דאס איז פאר ועד להפצת שיחות!\" Like, loud. We walked away, wow, this shows the רבי, fine. Came the next day, was after the פארברענגען, the night before the long פארברענגען, שמחת תורה, כוס של ברכה, we came early to 770 hoping when the רבי will come from his house in the morning, come with a מוגה'דיקע שיחה. The רבי came in the morning to 770, nothing! Rabbi גראנער went in, he took out the letters that the רבי answered, nothing. And we're standing, what do we do? So we decided we're going to do something which is a big risk, it might work, it might backfire. So we sat down, we made a copy of the שיחה for בראשית that we had prepared and given in to the רבי months before, and we wrote a little צעטל: כבוד קדושת אדמו״ר שליט״א, that's how you write. Then we wrote: this שיחה we prepared for שבת בראשית, we are planning to print it for שבת and we're asking the רבי to be מגיה. Basically saying we're printing it for שבת and if you want to be מגיה, be our guest. It wasn't these words, but that's that's this is a חוצפה שאין כמוה! And by the רבי, by the פריערדיקער רבי such things worked, but by the רבי if anything was the רבי על פי קבלה even ספירת המלכות, you can't. We knew that we could get back from the רבי such a צעטל, such a פסק that you can't imagine! What kind of חוצפה is this, you already print? But we decided that we're going to take a risk. It's Wednesday morning. If anything, the שיחה has to come out for שבת, and we send it in. Took a few hours, and those few hours we all had palpitations of the heart, I mean you can't imagine what's going to be now. A few hours later Rabbi גראנער comes out with a שיחה מוגה. שיחה מוגהה! The שמחה was מוראדיק, and right away went to the printer, he printed, put it up with the corrections, and gave it in to the רבי a second time. The רבי was מגיה a second time and for שבת came out שיחה of בראשית. It was the שמחה you can imagine. We ourselves were thinking ברוך השם, we succeeded in in doing it. But we just hoped, we weren't sure. Maybe the רבי will do it just for פרשת בראשית, cuz there is a lot of guests there, maybe. Came פרשת נח, שיחה went in again, and the רבי was מגיה. And it went on like this, and the רבי was מגיה every week, till once it was before פרשת וארא, Rabbi Chodakov called us all in, and he gave us the מוגה'דיקע שיחה the רבי was מגיה, and he said that the רבי is very happy that you guys are writing the שיחות, so the רבי wants to give you a present. What's your present? The רבי wants that the ספר כתר שם טוב should be printed, so you guys work on it. So, and he gave a deadline! In a month it should become out, with הוספות of all the ענינים that the רביים wrote into about the בעל שם, on בעל שם טוב. That's the present he gave to show his appreciation. Anyway, that time I was in כולל that year, so all the things I worked on the שיחות was all חוץ לסדר. I have to tell you that. But those few weeks I didn't go to סדר, I can tell you that, those cuz it was impossible to to do it. And if you take a כתר שם טוב, now they have added a lot more, but look in the beginning, you'll see the names of all the people who worked on it. All the and then they put into the פתח דבר. So that's the רבי's show. And that's how it went on for the year תשל\"ג and ל\"ד. Actually, ל\"ד I moved to Miami, but I used to work on the שיחות from here. Send the שיחות, and the רבי was מגיה, and then at the end of ל\"ד, the רבי stopped again. So, the שיחות from that came out in the years ל\"ג, ל\"ד, those שיחות turned into the volumes of י' through י\"ד. A year passed, and then the רבי started again being מגיה the שיחות. They wrote to the רבי again asking him, and if you notice then it changed back to יידיש, thinking maybe The reason why it changed back is not because of the רבי. As the רבי once Is there a difference, you know, you want יידיש or לשון קודש? And the רבי answered two words, אין נפקא מינה. There's no difference. So, went back to יידיש. And later on they thought again try to לשון קודש, and that's so that's how it went on then for all the years till כ\"ז אדר the שיחות came out. And as there a few years passed, they turn into volumes. So חלק ט\"ו through חלק י\"ט, those already was five years. Like this it was every two years turned into the volumes. Five-year שיחות, that's why they're bigger volumes. And then it was three years, three years, whatever it was decided that these things the רבי didn't Also, you should know the רבי never said which שיחה to print for שבת. Wasn't that the רבי chose that this שיחה for שבת. It was the people who worked on it decided, this time they looked through a שיחה, \"I think this is a good שיחה we could work on. This שיחה we could prepare for the רבי.\" Well, that's also the רבי this that's even from the first חלקים. That when the רבי spoke the same ענין, and the רבי would, a lot of times, speak the same ענין one פארברענגען, and another ענין the same ענין another פארברענגען with more פרטים, different פרטים, from a different angle. So, since there are two ענינים, goes together, so they would make it into one, and in the back, at the end of every שיחה, it says which year it's from. So sometimes it says here it's פרשת צו תש\"מ, and sometimes it would say from two פארברענגענס. Here, בשיחות של פרשת מטות-מסעי, דברים, עקב תש\"מ. So came from three פארברענגענס, cuz a lot of times the רבי would speak ענינים at פארברענגען, and then the second שבת be ממשיך, and the third שבת be ממשיך. So this is how it came out in לקוטי שיחות.

So there are two ענינים. There is the בלתי מוגה. The בלתי מוגה is all the פארברענגענס from the whole all the years, בלתי מוגה, cuz that's written down, and that's only a הנחה. And once there was a סברא to send out to different people the הנחה בלתי מוגה, and the רבי didn't want it, and the רבי said, למרות כל האזהרות, כל השגיאות הולכות על חשבוני. As much as you באווארן and you write every page בלתי מוגה, בלתי מוגה, all the mistakes go on my חשבון. It came a time it's בזבוז האוצרות, and the רבי didn't want, and actually the one שיחה that they gave in that first time said, \"We want to send this out,\" and that's what the רבי wrote, and the רבי said, \"למשל, the שיחה that you send in which was that's what I spoke this שבת, how could you send this out when what that says here is a סתירה to an אפענע דין in שלחן ערוך?\" \"איי, the רבי said it.\" So the רבי when he says, he can't answer all the קשיות. He can't he didn't. But you can't send it out if it's בלתי מוגה. If you be מגיה, there would be an answer to that שאלה. The רבי showed what the שאלה is. He didn't even write an answer, cuz that's not the point. But so בלתי מוגה is one thing, so to rely on בלתי מוגה, it's בכלל בפרטיות no one could be מדייק in a word. You're gonna come and say, \"Well, in the בלתי מוגה שיחה it says this expression!\" No one knows if the רבי said it, and if this, you can't be מדייק. But the מוגה, the רבי looked over, spent so many so many hours on it to make sure that everything is מדוייק, and that's something that is the רבי's תורה. Then besides that, in the last years came out every every פארברענגען the רבי would be מגיה part of the פארברענגען, and that turned into ספר השיחות תשמ״ז, מ״ח, מ״ט, נ׳, נ״א, נ״ב, that's already a special thing, and this לקוטי שיחות came out that year anyway, this לקוטי שיחות as the שיחות that the רבי took. This is בקיצור the נקודה of לקוטי שיחות. But the ווארט is the רבי put, and it's נוגע טאקע now to ה׳ טבת, ה׳ טבת ספרים. This is the רבי's main ספרים, and if a person learns לקוטי שיחות and knows it, you're a למדן, you're a משכיל in חסידות, you're an עובד, you have everything, because there's so much there, the פנים and the הערות, that there's no other ספר, probably the the best ספר, a חסיד of ליובאוויטש, the best ספר ever printed in the last hundreds of years, because it has so much there, every subject is discussed there.
