Jewish audio on Chabad.org. Today's 砖讬注讜专 will be 诪住讻转 住谞讛讚专讬谉 讚祝 讻. We will start from the beginning of the 诪砖谞讛 closer to the top of the 注诪讜讚. The 诪砖谞讛 says 诪转 诇讜 诪转, we're talking here about the 讚讬谞讬诐 of a 诪诇讱, of a king. So if a death occurs in the king's family, 讗讬谞讜 讬讜爪讗 诪驻转讞 驻诇讟专讬谉 砖诇讜, so he is not allowed to go out of the door of his palace. 专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛 says, 讗诐 专讜爪讛 诇爪讗转 讗讞专 讛诪讟讛, if he wants to go out after the bed, 讬讜爪讗, he could go out. 砖讻谉 诪爪讬谞讜 讘讚讜讚, as we find by 讚讜讚, 砖讬爪讗 讗讞专 诪讟转讜 砖诇 讗讘谞专, that he went out after the bed of 讗讘谞专, 砖谞讗诪专, as the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讛诪诇讱 讚讜讚 讛讜诇讱 讗讞专 讛诪讟讛, that the king 讚讜讚 went after the bed. So we see that a king is allowed to go out after the bed by a funeral. 讗诪专讜 诇讜, they said to him, the 讞讻诪讬诐 said to 专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛, you have no proof from this story of 讚讜讚, because 诇讗 讛讬讛 讛讚讘专 讗诇讗 诇驻讬讬住 讗转 讛注诐. This thing was only to pacify the people, since the people thought that 讚讜讚 caused the death of 讗讘谞专, so therefore he went out after the bed by the funeral to show them that he did not do that. Then the 诪砖谞讛 continues:
讜讻砖诪讘专讬谉 讗讜转讜, when they give him the 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛, the 讚讬谉 is that an 讗讘诇, right after the funeral, his first meal is not allowed to be taken from his own. It is supposed to be brought into him from the outside, and that is called the 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛. So when they feed the king, when they bring in the first meal to the king, 讻诇 讛注诐 诪住讜讘讬谉 注诇 讛讗专抓, all the people, they sit on the ground, 讜讛讜讗 诪讬住讘 注诇 讛讚专讙砖, and he sits on the 讚专讙砖. He doesn't sit on the ground, even though he is the 讗讘诇, but because of the 讻讘讜讚 of the king, he sits on the 讚专讙砖, and the 讙诪专讗 will explain what a 讚专讙砖 is, and all the other people, they sit on the floor to show that they are in sorrow, they feel bad, they have the 爪注专. The 讙诪专讗 continues: 转谞讜 专讘谞谉, the 专讘谞谉 learned, 诪拽讜诐 砖谞讛讙讜 谞砖讬诐 诇爪讗转 讗讞专 讛诪讟讛, in that place where the custom is that the women go after the bed, 讬讜爪讗讜转, they could go. In other words, if that's their custom, they could do that. If the custom is 诇驻谞讬 讛诪讟讛, that the women go in front of the bed, 讬讜爪讗讜转, they could go in front of the bed. And the reason for these two customs, why should there be a specific custom of them going specifically behind the bed, or a custom for them going specifically in front of the bed? So 转讜住驻讜转 says that really in 讬专讜砖诇诪讬 we find that this is not dependent on customs, but there is a 诪讞诇讜拽转 in 讬专讜砖诇诪讬 what is supposed to be done. And there we find the reasons for each one of the two opinions. There is one 诪讗谉 讚讗诪专 that says that they should go 讘讚讜拽讗 in front of the bed, because the women were the ones that caused the 诪讬转讛 in the world. Because the whole idea of death in the world comes from the 讞讟讗 注抓 讛讚注转, from the first sin, that 讗讚诐 讜讞讜讛 sinned when they ate from the tree of 讚注转 讟讜讘 讜专注, and the one that started it, that caused it, was 讞讜讛, and therefore the women are the ones that caused the 注谞讬谉 of 诪讬转讛 in the world, so they go in front of the bed. And the other opinion says that they should go behind the bed, because it is not proper for Jewish women to go ahead when the men will be behind them and they will be looking at the women. And the other opinion that says that the women should go ahead in front of the bed, they say that at the time of a funeral, we are not afraid of bad thoughts that will enter into the minds of the men, and therefore, even though normally it is not proper for women to walk in front of men, but in the case of a funeral, it doesn't matter. And so too would be the 驻砖讟 in our 讙诪专讗 here. And even though we don't find a 诪讞诇讜拽转 in our 讙诪专讗, but still the reason for these two customs would be as it is explained in the 讬专讜砖诇诪讬. And the 讙诪专讗 continues:
专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛 讗讜诪专, but 专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛 says, 诇注讜诇诐 谞砖讬诐 诇驻谞讬 讛诪讟讛 讬讜爪讗讜转, that always the women should go in front of the bed, that it doesn't depend on the custom, but the 讚讬谉 is that the women always have to go in front of the bed. 砖讻谉 诪爪讬谞讜 讘讚讜讚, as we find by 讚讜讚, 砖讬爪讗 讗讞专 诪讟转讜 砖诇 讗讘谞专, that 讚讜讚 went behind the bed of 讗讘谞专, 砖谞讗诪专, as the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讛诪诇讱 讚讜讚 讛讜诇讱 讗讞专 讛诪讟讛, that the king 讚讜讚 went after the bed, behind the bed. Now, if that's the place for the women, then 讚讜讚 wouldn't be there. It wouldn't be nice for 讚讜讚 to go in the place where the women are supposed to be going, so that proves that the women usually go in front of the bed, and that's why 讚讜讚, when he went behind the bed, he was amongst the men. 讗诪专讜 诇讜, but they said to him, 诇讗 讛讬讛 讛讚讘专 讗诇讗 诇驻讬讬住 讗转 讛注诐. You have no proof from there, from the fact that 讚讜讚 went behind the bed, that's a 专讗讬讛 that the women usually go in front of the bed, because the whole reason why 讚讜讚 went to that 诇讜讬讛 was only to pacify the people, 讜谞转驻讬讬住讜, and they were pacified. So what did 讚讜讚 do, how did he pacify pacify them, 砖讛讬讛 讚讜讚 讬讜爪讗 诪讘讬谉 讛讗谞砖讬诐 讜谞讻谞住 诇讘讬谉 讛谞砖讬诐, he would go from between the men and would enter between the women, 讜讬讜爪讗 诪讘讬谉 讛谞砖讬诐 讜谞讻谞住 诇讘讬谉 讛讗谞砖讬诐, and he went away from between the women and entered between the men. In other words, he went back and forth, back and forth, so as to make sure that everyone will see that he's attending the funeral, so that would show everybody that he is not the one that caused the death of 讗讘谞专. 砖谞讗诪专, as the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讬讚注讜 讻诇 讛注诐 讜讻诇 讬砖专讗诇, that the whole nation and all the 讗讬讚谉 knew 讻讬 诇讗 讛讬转讛 诪讛诪诇讱, that it wasn't from the king, 诇讛诪讬转 讗转 讗讘谞专, to kill 讗讘谞专. So therefore, from the fact that 讚讜讚 went behind the 诪讬讟讛 is no 专讗讬讛 that normally the women are supposed to go in front, because otherwise how did 讚讜讚 go between the women? Because the truth is 讚讜讚 did go between the women. He went between the women and between the men and back and forth in order to show the people that he did not cause the death of 讗讘谞专. And the 讙诪专讗 continues, 讚专砖 专讘讗,
专讘讗 讚专砖谞讟, 诪讗讬 讚讻转讬讘, what is the meaning in the 驻住讜拽 that says, 讜讬讘讗 讻诇 讛注诐 诇讛讘专讜转 讗转 讚讜讚, that the whole nation came to feed 讚讜讚, to give 讚讜讚 the 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛, so he says 讻转讬讘 诇讛讻专讜转 讜拽专讬谞谉 诇讛讘专讜转. The 讻转讬讘, the way the word is written, it's 诇讛讻专讜转, the way we read it is 诇讛讘专讜转. A lot of times we find in the 转讜专讛 a concept of 拽专讬 讜讻转讬讘. The words are written with certain letters and in a certain way, but when you read it, you're supposed to read it differently. And here too, it is written 诇讛讻专讜转 with a 讻, but we read it 诇讛讘专讜转 with a 讘. And even though as it says on the side of the 讙诪专讗 that in our 住驻专讬诐, in our 转谞状讱, we don't find a 拽专讬 讜讻转讬讘 in this word, but still we do find sometimes that the 讙诪专讗 quotes certain 驻住讜拽讬诐 with certain details that we do not find in our 转谞状讱. And so too here, we don't have in our 转谞状讱 the 拽专讬 讜讻转讬讘, but the 讙诪专讗 had the 讙讬专住讗 of this 拽专讬 讜讻转讬讘, that written was 诇讛讻专讜转 and read was 诇讛讘专讜转 with a 讘. So what does it mean? And usually when we have a 拽专讬 and 讻转讬讘, it means that we have to 讚专砖谉 both. The meaning of the word is according to the way it is written and according to the way it is pronounced. So what does that mean here? 讘转讞讬诇讛 诇讛讻专讜转讜 讜诇讘住讜祝 诇讛讘专讜转讜. 诇讻转讞讬诇讛 when they came, they came 诇讛讻专讜转讜, to cut him off. Since they thought that he caused the death of 讗讘谞专, they were angry at him, so they came 诇讛讻专讜转讜, to cut him. But when they realized that he didn't do it, so then they came 诇讛讘专讜转讜, to feed him the 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛. Then the 讙诪专讗 continues,
Why was 讗讘谞专 killed? What 注讘讬专讛 did 讗讘谞专 do that because of that he was killed? The answer is 诪驻谞讬 砖讛讬讛 诇讜 诇诪讞讜转 讘砖讗讜诇 讜诇讗 诪讬讞讛, because he should have protested against 砖讗讜诇 when 砖讗讜诇 killed the 讻讛谞讬诐 from the city 注讬专 谞讜讘 讛讻讛谞讬诐. So he should have protested, since he was an important person in 砖讗讜诇's government. So he should have protested, 讜诇讗 诪讬讞讛, and he didn't protest. Because of that, he was punished and he got killed. 讜专讘讬 讬爪讞拽 讗诪专, but 专讘讬 讬爪讞拽 said, 诪讬讞讛, he did protest, 讜诇讗 谞注谞讛, and he wasn't answered. That means he protested as much as he could, but it didn't help him. 讜砖谞讬讛诐 诪拽专讗 讗讞讚 讚专砖讜, and both of them learn it out from the same 驻住讜拽. The one that says that he didn't protest, and the one that says that he did protest, they both learn it out from the same 驻住讜拽. Because the 驻住讜拽 says, here in 砖诪讜讗诇 讘 拽驻讬讟诇 讙, 驻住讜拽 诇状讙, it says 讜讬拽讜谞谉 讛诪诇讱 讗诇 讗讘谞专, that the king cried for 讗讘谞专, 讜讬讗诪专, and he said, 讛讻诪讜转 谞讘诇 讬诪讜转 讗讘谞专, should 讗讘谞专 have died the death of a 专砖注? 讬讚讬讱 诇讗 讗住讜专讜转, your hands were not tied, 讜专讙诇讬讱 诇讗 诇谞讞砖转讬诐 讛讙砖讜, and your feet were not chained in copper chains. What does that mean? 诪讗谉 讚讗诪专 诇讗 诪讬讞讛, the one that says that he did not protest against 砖讗讜诇, 讛讻讬 拽讗诪专, so this is what 讚讜讚 meant: 讬讚讬讱 诇讗 讗住讜专讜转, your hands were not tied, 讜专讙诇讬讱 诇讗 诇谞讞砖转讬诐 讛讙砖讜, and your feet were not tied in chains. Therefore, the question he asked, 诪讗讬 讟注诪讗 诇讗 诪讞讬转? So why didn't you protest against 砖讗讜诇? Since your hands were not tied, you could have protested. You were an important person in the government. So why didn't you protest? If you would have protested, maybe he wouldn't have done it. And therefore, he continues in the 驻住讜拽, 讻谞驻讜诇 诇驻谞讬 讘谞讬 注讜诇讛 谞驻诇转, that therefore you fell like a person falls in front of 讘谞讬 注讜诇讛, of bad people. 讜诪讗谉 讚讗诪专 诪讬讞讛, the one that says that he did protest, 讜诇讗 谞注谞讛, but he wasn't answered, so then the 驻砖讟 in the 驻住讜拽 is 讗讬转诪讜讛讬 拽诪转诪讛. 讚讜讚 said it in the form of a wonder: 讛讻诪讜转 谞讘诇 讬诪讜转 Why did you die like the death of a 专砖注? 讬讚讬讱 诇讗 讗住讜专讜转, your hands weren't tied, 讜专讙诇讬讱 诇讗 诇谞讞砖转讬诐 讛讜讙砖讜, and your feet weren't tied, which means 诪讻讚讬 诪讞讜讬讬 诪讞讬转, your hands weren't tied and you did protest. You didn't act like a great man that you didn't want to say anything. You didn't tie your hands not to say, but you did protest. So therefore, 讚讜讚 is asking: 诪讗讬 讟注诪讗 讻谞驻讜诇 诇驻谞讬 讘谞讬 注讜诇讛 谞驻诇转? So why did you fall like someone who falls in front of 讘谞讬 注讜诇讛, since you did protest? But the 讙诪专讗 asks: 讜诇诪讗谉 讚讗诪专 诪讬讞讛, according to the one that says that he did protest, so 诪讗讬 讟注诪讗 讗讬注谞砖? So why was he punished?
And as 专砖状讬 explains, that 讗讘谞专 had appointed 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 as king after the death of 砖讗讜诇. Now if he wouldn't have appointed 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 as king, then 讚讜讚 would have become king. Now from when 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 became king till 讚讜讚 became king on all the 讬讬讚谉, took two and a half years. Two years that 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 was king, and a half a year between the death of 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 till 讚讜讚 actually became king. So these are the two and a half years that the 诪诇讻讜转 of 讚讜讚 was pushed off because of 讗讘谞专, and therefore, 讗讘谞专 was punished for doing this. And 专砖状讬 makes the 讞砖讘讜谉, because from when 砖讗讜诇 died, it says that 讚讜讚 was king in 讞讘专讜谉 for seven and a half years, seven years and six months. Now, five years were between the death of 砖讗讜诇 and the kingdom of 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转. Till 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 became king, it took five years. And as 专砖状讬 quotes from the 住讚专 注讜诇诐, where it says on the 驻住讜拽: 讜讛讬诪讬诐 讗砖专 诪诇讱 讚讜讚 讜讙讜壮, it says that 诪诇讻讜转 讬砖专讗诇 was 讘讟诇, there was no king, for five years. So those five years don't count. Now, there are left two and a half years from after 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 became king till it says that 讚讜讚 became king in 讬专讜砖诇讬诐. And since it's two and a half years, so it comes out that these two and a half years 讚讜讚 could have been king instead of 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转. So for that, 讗讘谞专 was punished. This is the 讞砖讘讜谉 that 专砖状讬 makes. But 转讜住驻讜转 asks a 拽砖讬讗: First of all, why was he punished for that half a year that was between the death of 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 till 讚讜讚 became king? Because after all, even before he died, 讗讘谞专 tried very hard to make 讚讜讚 as king, as it says in the 驻住讜拽: 讜讬砖诇讞 讗讘谞专 诪诇讗讻讬诐 讗诇 讚讜讚 讜讙讜壮. So certainly, after 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 died, it wasn't 讗讘谞专's fault that 讚讜讚 wasn't king. So for that half a year, certainly 讗讘谞专 shouldn't have been punished. Another 拽砖讬讗 转讜住驻讜转 asks: Since it took five years between the death of 砖讗讜诇 till 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 became king, so why should 讗讘谞专 be punished for trying to make 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 king? It seems as if that he wouldn't have tried that, still 讚讜讚 wouldn't have been king, as we see in the previous five years, 讚讜讚 wasn't king anyway. So why was it an 注讜诇讛 on the part of 讗讘谞专 for appointing 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 as king? Therefore, 转讜住驻讜转 learns different, that that half a year that we're saying here in addition to the two years that 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 was king, was between the death of 砖讗讜诇 till 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 became king. During that half a year, 讗讘谞专 tried hard and spoke to all the 讬讬讚谉 to appoint 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 as king, till at the end, at the end of the half a year, he became king. After 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 died, that's when 诪诇讻讜转 讬砖专讗诇 was 讘讟诇 for five years till 讚讜讚 became king. And that's where we have the 讞砖讘讜谉 of seven and a half years that 讚讜讚 was in 讞讘专讜谉, that he wasn't the king over all the 讬讬讚谉. And according to this 驻砖讟, both questions are answered. The reason we count two and a half years, even though 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 was only king for two years, because even that first half a year, it was because of 讗讘谞专 that 讚讜讚 wasn't king, because during that half a year, he tried that 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 should become king. So that half a year was 讗讘谞专's fault that 讚讜讚 wasn't king. And then the two years that 讗讬砖 讘讜砖转 was king again was 讗讘谞专's fault. So therefore, he was punished for these two and a half years. The five years that came afterwards, that wasn't his fault, and therefore, for that, he is not punished. And this is where we get the 讞砖讘讜谉 of two and a half years. Then the 讙诪专讗 continues, it said in the 诪砖谞讛: 讜讻砖诪讘专讬谉 讗讜转讜, when they feed the 诪诇讱 the 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛, all the people sit on the floor and he sits on the 讚专讙砖. But the 讙诪专讗 asks:
诪讗讬 讚专讙砖, what is a 讚专讙砖? 讗诪专 注讜诇讗, so 注讜诇讗 said: 注专住讗 讚讙讚讗, a bed of good luck. And as 专砖状讬 explains, in those days they used to have a bed in the house that was not used at all. It was a regular bed, but it stood in a specific place for good luck. And this is the bed that the 诪砖谞讛 means that the 诪诇讱 would sit on when he is an 讗讘诇 and they feed him the 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛. 讗诪专讜 诇讬讛 专讘谞谉 诇注讜诇讗, so the 专讘谞谉 said to 注讜诇讗, according to you that you say that this 讚专讙砖 is that bed that is there for good luck, 诪讬 讗讬讻讗 诪讬讚讬, is there such a thing, 讚注讚 讛讗讬讚谞讗 诇讗 讗讜转讘讬谞讬讛, that till now he didn't sit on it, 讜讛砖转讗 诪讜转讘讬谞谉 诇讬讛, and now they make him sit on it? Till then, he never sat on this bed because this bed was not used to sit. It was just standing there for good luck. Now, because he's an 讗讘诇 he should bedafka now sit on it? Why should we do that? 诪转拽讬祝 诇讛 专讘讗, so 专讘讗 asked back, 诪讗讬 拽讜砖讬讗, what kind of question is this? 讚讬诇诪讗 maybe, that is what we do. Even though till now he wouldn't sit on it, but now that he's an 讗讘诇, he does sit on it. And we find an example to that. Normally we never would give the king to eat or give him to drink. 讛砖转讗, now that he's an 讗讘诇, 拽讗 诪讗讻讬诇谞讗 诇讬讛 讜拽讗 诪砖拽讬谞讗 诇讬讛. Now, we give him to eat and we give him to drink. This is the 讚讬谉 of a 住注讜讚转 讛讘专讗讛, as we said before, that we have to bring into him the food and the drink. So here we see that this is something that normally is not done, and because he is an 讗讘诇 coming back from the funeral, we do it to him. So maybe in this, too, that normally this bed he doesn't sit on, but now he does sit on it. So what's the question? 讗诇讗 讗讬 拽砖讬讗, but if you do have a 拽砖讬讗 on 注讜诇讗's 驻砖讟 that this 讚专讙砖 is that bed of good luck, 讛讗 拽砖讬讗, this is the 拽砖讬讗 you could ask. We learned 讚专讙砖 讗讬谞讜 爪专讬讱 诇讻驻讜转讜 讗诇讗 讝讜拽驻讜. Because there is a 讚讬谉 which is called 讻驻讬讬转 讛诪讬讟讛 by an 讗讘诇, that by an 讗讘诇, you must lower all the beds and all the stools that are there in his house. So it says in the 讘专讬讬转讗 that the 讚专讙砖 of the house you don't have to lower, but you stand it up. So there it uses the 诇砖讜谉 讚专讙砖. Now, 讜讗讬 住诇拽讗 讚注转讱, if you're going to think, as he said, that 注专住讗 讚讙讚讗, that the 讚专讙砖 is that bed of good luck, 讗诪讗讬 讗讬谞讜 爪专讬讱 诇讻驻讜转讜, why shouldn't he have to lower it? 讜讛转谞讬讗, didn't we learn, 讛讻讜驻讛 讗转 诪讟转讜, that when he lowers his bed, when the 讗讘诇 has to lower his bed, 诇讗 诪讟转讜 讘诇讘讚 讛讜讗 讻讜驻讛, not only his own bed that he uses to sleep on he has to lower, 讗诇讗 讻诇 讛诪讟讜转 砖讬砖 诇讜 讘转讜讱 讘讬转讜 讛讜讗 讻讜驻讛, but all the beds that are in his house, he has to be 讻讜驻讛. So then, why shouldn't he 讻讜驻讛 the 讚专讙砖? If 讚专讙砖 is a regular bed, just that it's not used, but it just stands there for good luck, so when he lowers all the beds, he should lower that, too. And since it says he doesn't have to lower the 讚专讙砖, obviously 讚专讙砖 means something else, not like 注讜诇讗 said that 讚专讙砖 is this bed of good luck. And the 讙诪专讗 says, 诪讗讬 拽讜砖讬讗, what kind of 拽砖讬讗 is this? 讚讬诇诪讗, maybe 诪讬讚讬 讚讛讜讛 讗诪讟讛 讛诪讬讜讞讚转 诇讻诇讬诐, maybe the 讚讬谉 of the 讚专讙砖, since it's not used, it has the same 讚讬谉 as a bed that is there specially for 讻诇讬诐, for vessels. 讚转谞谉, as we learned in a 讘专讬讬转讗, 讗诐 讛讬转讛 诪讬讜讞讚转 诇讻诇讬诐, if the bed was special there for 讻诇讬诐, 讗讬谞讜 爪专讬讱 诇讻驻讜转讛, you don't have to lower it. So maybe this 讚专讙砖, too, it could take a mean it's a regular bed, but since it is not used, that's why you don't have to lower it, because it has the same 讚讬谉 as a bed which is 诪讬讜讞讚 for 讻诇讬诐. So that 拽砖讬讗 is also no 拽砖讬讗 against 注讜诇讗. 讗诇讗 讗讬 拽砖讬讗, but if you do have a 拽砖讬讗 against 注讜诇讗, 讛讗 拽砖讬讗, this is the 拽砖讬讗 you could ask. Because in that same 讘专讬讬转讗 that we mentioned before, where it says that a 讚专讙砖 you don't have to lower, all you do is you pick it up, so the end of that 讘专讬讬转讗 it says that 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇 讗讜诪专, that 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇 says, 讚专讙砖 诪转讬专 拽专讘讬讟讬谉 讜讛讜讗 谞讜驻诇 诪讗讬诇讬讜. By a 讚专讙砖, all you have to do is undo the loops, and it falls by itself. Now, 讜讗讬 住诇拽讗 讚注转讱 注专住讗 讚讙讚讗, if you're going to say that a 讚专讙砖 means this 注专住讗 讚讙讚讗, this regular bed, but it's just standing there for good luck, 拽专讘讬讟讬谉 诪讬 讗讬转 诇讬讛, does it have any loops? Why is this different than any other bed? Just like a regular bed doesn't have any loops, this is also a regular bed, so it also doesn't have any loops. So what does 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇 mean that by a 讚专讙砖, all you do is loosen the loops, and it falls by itself? 讗诇讗 讻讬 讗转讗 专讘讬谉, but when 专讘讬谉 came, 讗诪专, he said, 讗诪专 诇讬 讛讛讜讗 诪讚专讘谞谉, that this one of the 讞讻诪讬诐 said to me, 讜专讘 转讞诇讬驻讗 砖诪讬, his name is 专讘 转讞诇讬驻讗, 讚讛讜讛 砖讻讬讞 讘砖讜拽讗 讚讙讬诇讚讗讬, and he used to go very often to the market of the leather workers, 讗诪专 诇讬, and he said to him, 诪讗讬 讚专讙砖, what is 讚专讙砖? 注专住讗 讚爪诇讗, this is the bed of leather. And as 专砖''讬 explains, that this bed was made of leather, and it had very short legs. And the way they used to tie this bed to the legs was not like by a regular bed that they used to do it with rope, but they did it with leather straps, and the leather strap used to be tied around the poles of the bed, and that's how it used to be. Now, all you have to do is untie, loosen those leather straps, and then the bed would fall to the ground. And this is the argument between the 转谞讗 拽诪讗 and 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇. Since it is leather, and when you untie it, and since the feet are very short, automatically, it would fall to the ground all the way, and since the ground is damp, the leather would get spoiled from the ground. So therefore the 转谞讗 拽诪讗 says that a person doesn't have to lower it because then it will get spoiled, all you have to do is you pick it up, you stand it up, that the long poles that are on the bed would be standing upwards. And that's what he said, that in this case you don't have to 诇讻驻讜转讜 讗诇讗 讝讜拽驻讜. But 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇 says that he doesn't care, all you have to do is loosen the loops and then it would fall down, and he doesn't mind that it will get spoiled from the ground, you still have to lower it. And that's what 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇 said, that all you do is you loosen the loops, because this special kind of bed had loops, not like a regular bed that didn't have loops. So here all you do is you loosen the loops, and then this falls to the ground by itself. 讗诪专 专讘讬 讬专诪讬讛 讗诪专 专讘讬 讬讜讞谞谉, 专讘讬 讬专诪讬讛 said in the
name of 专讘讬 讬讜讞谞谉, 讚专讙砖, and this bed 讚专讙砖, 住讬专讜讙讜 诪转讜讻讜, the strap-work is inside. 诪讟讛, by a regular bed, 住讬专讜讙讜, the strap-work, not really of the straps, but of the ropes, is 诪注诇 讙讘讬讜, from over it. And 专砖状讬 explains that this means that in the case of the 讚专讙砖, that in the poles of the bed they used to have little holes, and that's where they would stick in the edges of the straps that would hold the bed to the pole. And that's where you would tie it. In other words, you wouldn't take the straps and surround it around the poles that would cover the poles, but in the poles themselves, on the inside, there was a hole and you would stick the straps through that hole, and that's you would tie where you would tie it. While by a regular bed that you tie with rope, you would actually take the rope and go around the poles with the rope, and that's how you would tie it. Then the 讙诪专讗 says, 诪讬转讬讘讬, I will ask you a 拽砖讬讗, we learned: 讻诇讬 注抓 诪讗讬诪转讬 诪拽讘诇讬谉 讟讜诪讗讛? From when can a wooden 讻诇讬 start being 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛? Because the 讚讬谉 is that when can a 讻诇讬 be ready to accept 讟讜诪讗讛 if it is touched by 讟讜诪讗讛, only when it is finished. When you complete the 讻诇讬, then if something 讟诪讗 will touch it, it'll become 讟诪讗. So the question is: when is a wooden 讻诇讬 considered finished in order for it to be 专讗讜讬 to be 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛? So it says: 讛诪讟讛, the bed, 讜讛注专讬住讛, and the crib, 诪砖讬砖讜驻诐 讘注讜专 讛讚讙, after you rub it with the skin of a fish. It was a kind of polish that after they finish the bed, so then they would polish with the skin of fish the poles of the bed in order to make it look nice. The question of the 讙诪专讗 is: 讜讗讬 诪讟讛 诪住讜专讙转 诪注诇 讙讘讛, if you're going to say that by a regular bed the strap-work is on the outside, that means that you take the rope and you surround the poles with the rope, so then 诇诪讛 诇讬 砖讬驻转 注讜专 讛讚讙? So why would you have to polish it with the skin of a fish since it is anyway covered with the rope, because the rope is surrounded all around the pole? So no one sees it anyway. So why would you have to polish it? And since it says that a bed would be polished with this 注讜专 讛讚讙, obviously the rope does not surround the poles that much. 讗诇讗, therefore, the 讙诪专讗 says the 驻砖讟 is not like we said before. 讛讗 讜讛讗 诪转讜讻讛, that really in both cases, in the case of the bed and in the case of the 讚专讙砖, the rope or the strap is from the inside. The difference is: 诪讟讛, by a bed, 注讜诇讜讘讬 讜讗驻讜拽讬 讘讘讬讝讬讜谞讬, that the rope that would tie the bed to the poles would go in and out through the slits. There were slits in the poles themselves, and that's where they would put in the edges of the rope and take it through the slits themselves. But 讚专讙砖, 注讜诇讜讘讬 讜讗驻讜拽讬 讘讗讘拽转讗, there the straps would go in and out through the loops, that at the edge of the pole there were certain loops and that's where they would put in the straps. And that is the difference between the bed and the 讚专讙砖. We had a 诪讞诇讜拽转 before that the 转谞讗 拽诪讗 holds that the 讚专讙砖 do not have to lower, you just pick it up, and 专讘谉 砖诪注讜谉 讘谉 讙诪诇讬讗诇 said by the 讚专讙砖 you undo the loops and let it fall to the ground. And as 专砖状讬 explains, this means they used to have a certain kind of bed that on both sides of the bed, meaning in the side at the wall where the person's head lays, and at the side of the wall where the person's feet are, on both of these sides, they used to have in middle of the wall on either side, they would have a long pole from the floor till the top. And on top of each of this pole, there was a slit, and they would put on top of the slit a long piece of wood. And on that piece of wood, they would put the canopy which would cover the bed. And these were called 谞拽诇讬讟讬谉. Now what the 讙诪专讗 is saying here that if you have a bed that the 谞拽诇讬讟讬谉 go out, that means that some of the people used to connect the 谞拽诇讬讟讬谉 on the bottom, too. So now, if you're going to try to lower the bed, it won't help you, you won't be able to. Since these 谞拽诇讬讟讬谉 are connected on the bottom, so you can't lower the bed lower than that. So therefore, what do you do? So the 讙诪专讗 says that all you do is you stand it up and that is enough. You would take the bed and you would pick it up, or having the place where the head of the person is laying on the floor and to be standing up that way, or or you would stand it up in the opposite direction: the side of the bed where the person's feet are, you would put that on the floor and you would have it stand up that way. Since there is no other way you could have the 讻驻讬讬转 讛诪讟讛 in this bed, therefore it is enough if you just stand it up. Now we will continue with the 诪砖谞讛. It says in the 诪砖谞讛, 讜诪讜爪讬讗 诇诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转 注诇 驻讬 讘讬转 讚讬谉 砖诇 砖讘注讬诐 讜讗讞讚, that a king is allowed to wage war. A 诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转 is a war that is not a 诪爪讜讛 to fight. It is a voluntary war. If the king decides that he wants to broaden the borders of his country, that is called a 诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转, not like the war against the seven nations of 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇, or the war against 注诪诇拽, or a war in a case when the 讙讜讬诐 attack the 讬讬讚谉 in 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇. So all that is 诪诇讞诪转 诪爪讜讛. A 诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转 is a voluntary war that the king decides to do. So he is allowed to wage war according, based on the permission of the 讘讬转 讚讬谉 of 71. And also, 讜驻讜专抓 诇注砖讜转 诇讜 讚专讱 讜讗讬谉 诪诪讞讬谉 讘讬讚讜, he's able to break through and have a way made for him, a road made for him, and no one could stop him. That if he needs a road, and it happens to be through someone's field or through someone's vines, so he is allowed to have a road made there and no one is allowed to stop him. 讚专讱 讛诪诇讱 讗讬谉 诇讛 砖讬注讜专, the 讚专讱, the road of the king has no limits. Like this we find different limits, different 砖讬注讜专讬诐 of what is considered a road: a 讚专讱 讛讬讞讬讚 or 讚专讱 讛专讘讬诐, a private road, a public road, but the 讚专讱 讛诪诇讱 has no 砖讬注讜专. Whatever the 诪诇讱 feels should be the size of his road, he is allowed to make it. 讜讻诇 讛注诐 讘讜讝讝讬谉 讜谞讜转谞讬谉 诇讜, and the people, when they get the loot at the time of war, they give it to him, 讜讛讜讗 谞讜讟诇 讞诇拽 讘专讗砖, and he takes first choice because he gets half of the 讘讬讝讛. So he gets the first choice to get which half he wants, and the rest he gives them back. 讙诪专讗 says, 转谞讬谞讗 讞讚讗 讝讬诪谞讗, the 诪砖谞讛 where it says that he goes to war with the permission of the 讘讬转 讚讬谉 of 71, didn't we learn it already once? It says in the earlier The first 诪砖谞讛 of the 诪住讻转讗 it said that you can't wage a 诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转 unless you have the permission of the 讘讬转 讚讬谉 of 71. So we already know that when you go to war, you must have the permission of 讘讬转 讚讬谉 of 71. Why does the 诪砖谞讛 here again say that he goes to war 注诇 驻讬 讘讬转 讚讬谉 砖诇 砖讘注讬诐 讜讗讞讚? And the 讙诪专讗 answers, 讗讬讬讚讬 讚转谞讬 讻诇 诪讬诇讬 讚诪诇讱, since here he is telling us all the 讚讬谞讬诐 of a 诪诇讱, 转谞讬 谞诪讬, so therefore he also says this 讚讬谉 that 诪讜爪讬讗讬谉 诇诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转, that he's allowed to go out to 诪诇讞诪转 讛专砖讜转, but he needs the permission of the 讘讬转 讚讬谉 of 71. Then the 讙诪专讗 continues, 讗诪专 专讘 讬讛讜讚讛 讗诪专 砖诪讜讗诇, 专讘 讬讛讜讚讛 said in the name of 砖诪讜讗诇, 讻诇 讛讗诪讜专 讘驻专砖转 诪诇讱, 诪诇讱 诪讜转专 讘讜, that whatever it says in the 驻专砖讛 of the king, the king is allowed to do it. And this refers to the 驻专砖讛 concerning the king in 转谞状讱, in 砖诪讜讗诇 讗壮, 拽驻讬讟诇 讞壮. There, when 砖诪讜讗诇 agreed that the 讬讬讚谉 will get a king, so it says, starting from 驻住讜拽 讬状讗, it says, 讜讬讗诪专 讝讛 讬讛讬讛 诪砖驻讟 讛诪诇讱 讗砖专 讬诪诇讜讱 注诇讬讻诐. This will be the 讚讬谉 of the king that will be the king upon you. And he continues, everything that the king could do: 讗转 讘谞讬讻诐 讬拽讞, your children he would take, 讜砖诐 诇讜 讘诪专讻讘转讜 讜讘驻专砖讬讜, he's allowed to put them into his chariot, 讜专爪讜 诇驻谞讬 诪专讻讘转讜, they could run in front of his chariot. And he continues, 讜诇砖讜诐 诇讜 砖专讬 讗诇驻讬诐 讜砖专讬 讞诪砖讬诐, he could use the people for other things. And he continues that 讗转 讘谞讜转讬讻诐 讬拽讞, he could take your daughters. And he continues, 讜讗转 砖讚讜转讬讻诐 讜讗转 讻专诪讬讻诐 讜讝讬转讬讻诐 讛讟讜讘讬诐 讬拽讞, he could take your fields, your vineyards, your oils, and he continues more and more what the king could do. So 专讘 讬讛讜讚讛 said in the name of 砖诪讜讗诇 that all this is actually so, that these things that are mentioned in this 驻专砖讛 that a king is allowed to do, the king is actually allowed to do that. And 专讘, 讗诪专 专讘 says, 诇讗 谞讗诪专讛 驻专砖讛 讝讜 讗诇讗 诇讗讬讬诐 注诇讬讛诐. This 驻专砖讛 was only said in order to put fear upon them, to scare them, 砖谞讗诪专, as that 驻住讜拽 says in 讞讜诪砖 讚讘专讬诐, 砖讜诐 转砖讬诐 注诇讬讱 诪诇讱, you should put a 诪诇讱 upon you. Now what does it mean to put a 诪诇讱 upon you? It means 砖转讛讗 讗讬诪转讜 注诇讬讱, that his fear should be upon you. So in order to frighten them and to tell them what the king will be, he told them that these are all the things that a king could do, but actually, the king is really not allowed to do this. So 专讘 holds this was only said in order to frighten them, but not that really the king is allowed to do this. And the 讙诪专讗 says 讻转谞讗讬, that this 诪讞诇讜拽转 between 砖诪讜讗诇 and 专讘 is really a 诪讞诇讜拽转 between 转谞讗讬. Because we learned, 专讘讬 讬讜住讬 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 讬讜住讬 says, 讻诇 讛讗诪讜专 讘驻专砖转 诪诇讱, whatever was said in the 驻专砖讛 of the 诪诇讱, 诪诇讱 诪讜转专 讘讜, the 诪诇讱 is allowed to do it. 专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 讬讛讜讚讛 says, 诇讗 谞讗诪专讛 驻专砖讛 讝讜 讗诇讗 讻讚讬 诇讗讬讬诐 注诇讬讛诐, this 驻专砖讛 was only said in order to scare them, 砖谞讗诪专, 砖讜诐 转砖讬诐 注诇讬讱 诪诇讱, you should put a 诪诇讱 upon you, that means 砖转讛讗 讗讬诪转讜 注诇讬讱, that his fear should be upon you. And therefore 砖诪讜讗诇 said to them all these different things in order to frighten them. And the reason we pick these three, even though there are many, many 诪爪讜转 that the 讗讬讚谉 were commanded when they entered 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇, but these are the three 诪爪讜转 that have to follow this order. One is 诇讛注诪讬讚 诇讛诐 诪诇讱, to appoint a king, 讜诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽, and then to destroy the children of 注诪诇拽, 讜诇讘谞讜转 诇讛诐 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛, and then to build the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. And these three 诪爪讜转 depended on their entering of 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇 because in every one of these three it says in the 转讜专讛 讬专讜砖讛 讜讬砖讬讘讛, that first they have to inherit 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇 and they have to settle in 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇, then they should fulfill these 诪爪讜转. Because concerning a 诪诇讱 it says in the 转讜专讛 that when you will enter 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇 讜讬专砖转讛 讜讬砖讘转 讘讛, and you will inherit it and settle in it, then it says 讜讗诪专转 讗砖讬诪讛 注诇讬 诪诇讱, and you will say, "Let's appoint upon me a king." So we see that concerning the 诪爪讜讛 of a 诪诇讱 the 转讜专讛 gives the 讛拽讚诪讛, the introduction, that first has to be 讜讬专砖转讛 讜讬砖讘转 讘讛. Concerning killing 注诪诇拽 it says, 讜讛讬讛 讘讛谞讬讞 讛' 讜讙讜', that when 讛' will let you, will leave you free after you will finish with your enemy, then you should get to 注诪诇拽. So we see that this depends after conquering 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇. And concerning the building of the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 it says, 讜注讘专转诐 讗转 讛讬专讚谉 讜讬砖讘转诐 讘讗专抓, when you will cross the 讬专讚谉 you will settle in the land, then it says 讜讛讬讛 讛诪拽讜诐, that the place 讛' will choose that should be your place. So we see that when should you have this place that 讛' will choose, which is the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖? After you will cross the 讬专讚谉 and settle in 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇. 讙诪专讗 continues, 专讘讬 谞讛讜专讗讬 讗讜诪专, but 专讘讬 谞讛讜专讗讬 says, 诇讗 谞讗诪专讛 驻专砖讛 讝讜 讗诇讗 讻谞讙讚 转专注讜诪转谉, that this 驻专砖讛 of 诪诇讱 was only said because of their complaint. Really 讛' didn't want this 注谞讬谉 of appointing a king, but 讛' knew that the time will come that they will complain that they want a king, that's why 讛' said 诇讻转讞诇讛 that they should appoint a king, 砖谞讗诪专 as the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讗诪专转 讗砖讬诪讛 注诇讬 诪诇讱, that 讛' said, "You will say, 'Let appoint upon me a king.'" So 讛' 诇讻转讞诇讛 told them that why is he telling them the 讚讬谞讬诐 of a 诪诇讱? Because He knew that they will say that they want a king. 转谞讬讗, we learned in a 讘专讬讬转讗, 专讘讬 讗诇注讝专 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 讗诇注讝专 said, 讝拽谞讬诐 砖讘讚讜专 讻讛讜讙谉 砖讗诇讜, the 讝拽谞讬诐 in the generation of 砖诪讜讗诇 that asked for a king, they asked properly. 砖谞讗诪专 as it says, that they said, 转谞讛 诇谞讜 诪诇讱 诇砖驻讟谞讜, "Give us a king to judge us." So the reason they wanted a king, so that the bad people amongst them should be judged and be forced to be good. 讗讘诇 注诪讬 讛讗专抓 砖讘讛谉, but the 注诪讬 讛讗专抓 amongst them, 拽诇拽诇讜, they spoiled it, 砖谞讗诪专 as it says, 讜讛讬讬谞讜 讙诐 讗谞讞谞讜, that they said, "Why do we want a king? So we too should be 讻讻诇 讛讙讜讬诐, like all the nations, 讜砖驻讟谞讜 诪诇讻谞讜, and our king should judge us, 讜讬爪讗 诇驻谞讬谞讜, he should go out in front of us." So really why they wanted a king was because of the wars; they wanted somebody to lead them to war, as they said, 讜讬爪讗 诇驻谞讬谞讜 讜谞诇讞诐 讗转 诪诇讞诪转谞讜, he should go in front of us, in the head of us, and he should fight the war for us. And that was not a good reason for them to want a king, so they are the ones that spoiled it. 讙诪专讗 continues, 转谞讬讗, we learned in a 讘专讬讬转讗, 专讘讬 讬讜住讬 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 讬讜住讬 says, 砖诇砖 诪爪讜转 谞爪讟讜讜 讬砖专讗诇 讘讻谞讬住转谉 诇讗专抓, three 诪爪讜转 the 讗讬讚谉 were commanded when they entered 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇, 诇讛注诪讬讚 诇讛诐 诪诇讱, to appoint a king, 讜诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽, and to destroy the children of 注诪诇拽, 讜诇讘谞讜转 诇讛诐 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛, and to build for them the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. 讜讗讬谉 讬讜讚注 讗讬讝讛 诪讛诐 转讞诇讛, and we don't know which one comes first, 讻砖讛讜讗 讗讜诪专, but when the 驻住讜拽 says, 讻讬 讬讚 注诇 讻住 讬讛 诪诇讞诪讛 诇讛' 讘注诪诇拽, that there is a hand on the chair of 讛', that there is a war to 讛' 讘注诪诇拽, which means 讛' swore that He will always have a war with 注诪诇拽 till He will destroy 注诪诇拽, and the expression in the 驻住讜拽 is that there is the hand on the chair of 讛', 讛讜讬 讗讜诪专, so that tells us, 诇讛注诪讬讚 诇讛诐 诪诇讱 转讞诇讛, that first they have to appoint a king. Why? Because 讜讗讬谉 讻住讗 讗诇讗 诪诇讱, because a chair always represents a king, 砖谞讗诪专 as it says, 讜讬砖讘 砖诇诪讛 注诇 讻住讗 讛' 诇诪诇讱, that 砖诇诪讛 sat on the chair of 讛' as king. And since here it says, 讻讬 讬讚 注诇 讻住 讬讛, that the hand is on the chair, and then it says says there is a 诪诇讞诪讛 to 讛砖诐 in 注诪诇拽, so we see that first comes the chair, which means making of a king, and then there is the war with 注诪诇拽. 讜注讚讬讬谉 讗讬谞讬 讬讜讚注, and I still don't know, 讗诐 诇讘谞讜转 诇讛诐 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛 转讞讬诇讛, if first comes to build the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, 讗讜 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽 转讞讬诇讛, or first to destroy the children of 注诪诇拽. 讻砖讛讜讗 讗讜诪专, when the 驻住讜拽 says concerning 注诪诇拽, 讜讛谞讬讞 诇讻诐 诪讻诇 讗讜讬讘讬讻诐, that when 讛砖诐 will let you free, will give you peace from all your enemies, and then the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讛讬讛 讛诪拽讜诐 讗砖专 讬讘讞专 讛砖诐 讜讙讜壮, that the place 讛砖诐 will choose that should be the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, so first the 驻住讜拽 says that you have to finish with all your enemies and then there will be the place 讛砖诐 chose, 讛讗 讗讜诪专, so that tells us, 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽 转讞讬诇讛, that first you destroy the children of 注诪诇拽. That first you have to get rid of all the enemies, which includes 注诪诇拽, and then comes the building of the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. 讜讻谉 讘讚讜讚 讛讜讗 讗讜诪专, and that's actually how we see by 讚讜讚, because it says, 讜讬讛讬 讻讬 讬砖讘 讛诪诇讱 讚讜讚 讘讘讬转讜, that it was when the king 讚讜讚 sat in his house, 讜讛砖诐 讛谞讬讞 诇讜 诪住讘讬讘, and 讛砖诐 gave him peace from everything around him, means he finished with the wars with everything around him, so then 讻转讬讘, it says in another 驻住讜拽, 讜讬讗诪专 讛诪诇讱 讗诇 谞转谉 讛谞讘讬讗, the king said to 谞转谉 讛谞讘讬讗, 专讗讛 谞讗, see please, 讗谞讻讬 讬讜砖讘 讘讘讬转 讗专讝讬诐, I am sitting in the house of 讗专讝讬诐, and there is no house for 讛砖诐. So we see that when did 讚讜讚 讛诪诇讱 start working on building the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖? After 讛砖诐 gave him rest from all his enemies. Because first comes the destroying of 注诪诇拽, and then comes the building of the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. 讗诪专 专讬砖 诇拽讬砖, 专讬砖 诇拽讬砖 said, we mentioned before 砖诇诪讛 讛诪诇讱, that 砖诇诪讛 sat on the 讻住讗 of 讛砖诐, so 讘转讞诇讛 诪诇讱 砖诇诪讛 注诇 讛注诇讬讜谞讬诐, first 砖诇诪讛 was the king even on all the higher beings, 砖谞讗诪专, as it says, 讜讬砖讘 砖诇诪讛 注诇 讻住讗 讛砖诐, 砖诇诪讛 sat on the chair of 讛砖诐, that means that he was the king even on the higher beings. 讜诇讘住讜祝, and later on, when he sinned, 诪诇讱 注诇 讛转讞转讜谞讬诐, then he was only the king over the lower beings, 砖谞讗诪专, as it says, 讻讬 讛讜讗 专讜讚讛, he was in control 讘讻诇 注讘专 讛谞讛专, on all of the other side of the 谞讛专 诪转驻住讞 讜注讚 注讝讛, from 转驻住讞 till 注讝讛. And that shows that he wasn't in control over the whole world, but only over the lower beings of this world, but not over the higher beings. Now here we have 专讘 讜砖诪讜讗诇, a 诪讞诇讜拽转 between 专讘 and 砖诪讜讗诇. 讞讚 讗诪专, one says, 转驻住讞 讘住讜祝 讛注讜诇诐 讜注讝讛 讘住讜祝 讛注讜诇诐, that 转驻住讞 was one end of the world and 注讝讛 was the other end of the world, and that's what the 驻住讜拽 means, that he was in control from one end of the world to the other end of the world. 讜讞讚 讗诪专, and one says, 转驻住讞 讜注讝讛 讘讛讚讬 讛讚讚讬 讛讜讜 讬转讘讬, that 转驻住讞 and 注讝讛 were very close to each other. And what does the 驻住讜拽 mean? 讜讻讻砖诐 砖诪诇讱 注诇 转驻住讞 讜注诇 注讝讛 讻讱 诪诇讱 注诇 讻诇 讛注讜诇诐 讻讜诇讜, that when the 驻住讜拽 says that he controlled, he was the king over from 转驻住讞 to 注讝讛, it means that just like he was the king from 转驻住讞 to 注讝讛 which is very close, the same way he was in control over the whole world, he was a king over the whole world. 讜诇讘住讜祝, and later on, 诇讗 诪诇讱 讗诇讗 注诇 讬砖专讗诇, then he became king only over the 讗讬讚谉, not even over the whole world, 砖谞讗诪专, as it says, 讗谞讬 拽讛诇转, I 拽讛诇转 which was 砖诇诪讛, 讛讬讬转讬 诪诇讱 注诇 讬砖专讗诇 讜讙讜壮, I was king on the 讗讬讚谉, so he was only on the 讗讬讚谉. 讜诇讘住讜祝, and later on, 诇讗 诪诇讱 讗诇讗 注诇 讬专讜砖诇讬诐, he was the king only over 讬专讜砖诇讬诐, 砖谞讗诪专, as another 驻住讜拽 says, 讚讘专讬 拽讛诇转 讘谉 讚讜讚, the words of 拽讛诇转 the son of 讚讜讚, 诪诇讱 讘讬专讜砖诇讬诐, the king in 讬专讜砖诇讬诐. 讜诇讘住讜祝, and later on, 诇讗 诪诇讱 讗诇讗 注诇 诪讟转讜, he was only the king on his bed, 砖谞讗诪专, as it says, 讛谞讛 诪讟转讜 砖诇砖诇诪讛 讜讙讜壮, that here is the bed of 砖诇诪讛. So the bed is of 砖诇诪讛, but nothing else is of 砖诇诪讛, that means that he was the king only of his bed. 讜诇讘住讜祝, and later on, 诇讗 诪诇讱 讗诇讗 注诇 诪拽诇讜, he was the king only on his stick, 砖谞讗诪专, it says, 讝讛 讛讬讛 讞诇拽讬 诪讻诇 注诪诇讬, that this was my part from all my hard labor, which means that this, only this, only his stick he has left from all his hard work. 专讘 讜砖诪讜讗诇, there's a 诪讞诇讜拽转 between 专讘 and 砖诪讜讗诇 here. 讞讚 讗诪专 诪拽诇讜, one says it was his stick, 讜讞讚 讗诪专 讙讜谞讚讜, one said that it was his garment. And this is as 专砖状讬 says, that when 讗砖诪讚讗讬, the king of the 砖讚讬诐, threw him away from his chair, took him away from being king, so that's when he was a king only on his own stick, but not more, as the 讙诪专讗 tells the story in 诪住讻转 讙讬讟讬谉 讚祝 住状讞 注诪讜讚 讘壮. Then the 讙诪专讗 asks, 讛讚专 讗讜 诇讗 讛讚专, did he regain his power back or not? So 专讘 讜砖诪讜讗诇, there's a 诪讞诇讜拽转 between 专讘 and 砖诪讜讗诇. 讞讚 讗诪专 讛讚专, he did get it back, 讜讞讚 讗诪专 诇讗 讛讚专, he didn't get it back. And the 讙诪专讗 explains: 诪讗谉 讚讗诪专 诇讗 讛讚专, the one that says that he didn't get it back, 诪诇讱 讜讛讚讬讜讟, so that agrees with the opinion in the 讙诪专讗 that says that he was first a king king, and then he was an ordinary person. 诪讗谉 讚讗诪专 讛讚专, the one that says that he did get it back, 诪诇讱 讜讛讚讬讜讟 讜诪诇讱. So first he was king, and then at one time, at one point he was an 讛讚讬讜讟, an ordinary person, and then again he was king. But even according to the opinion that he didn't regain his power again, so as it says down here printed in the bottom of the 讙诪专讗, it quotes from the 讙诇讬讜谉 printed in 诪住讻转 讙讬讟讬谉 next to 专砖状讬, so there it says that even according to the opinion that he didn't regain his power, what it means is that he didn't regain his power as it was before to be the king even over the higher beings. But concerning the lower beings, he did regain his power even according to this opinion. Now, the 讙诪专讗 continues to quote from the 诪砖谞讛. It said in the 诪砖谞讛, 驻讜专抓 诇注砖讜转 诇讜 讚专讱, that the king is allowed to break through to make himself a way. And the 诪砖谞讛 continued that when it comes to war, the people who get the loot has to give it to him, and he takes first choice of half and then the rest he gives back. The 讙诪专讗 says, 转谞讜 专讘谞谉, the 专讘谞谉 learned, 讗讜爪专讜转 诪诇讻讬诐 诇诪诇讱, that when you collect loot, so if you get the treasury of a king, if that's captured, that goes to the king. 讜砖讗专 讘讬讝讛 砖讘讜讝讝讬谉, and the rest of the loot that they take, 诪讞爪讛 诇诪诇讱 讜诪讞爪讛 诇注诐, half goes to the king and half goes to the
people. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 讗讘讬讬 诇专讘 讚讬诪讬, 讗讘讬讬 said to 专讘 讚讬诪讬, 讜讗诪专讬 诇讛, some say, 诇专讘 讗讞讗, to 专讘 讗讞讗: 讘砖诇诪讗 讗讜爪专讜转 诪诇讻讬诐 诇诪诇讱, 诪讬诇讗 we understand why the 讚讬谉 is that the treasury of kings go to the king, 讗讜专讞讗 讚诪讬诇转讗, that is the normal 讚专讱 to do it. Since this was the treasury of a king, so now it belongs to the king. 讗诇讗 砖讗专 讘讬讝讛 砖讘讜讝讝讬谉, 诪讞爪讛 诇诪诇讱 讜诪讞爪讛 诇注诐, 诪谞诇谉? But the other 讚讬谉, that the rest of the loot that is taken, that we said half goes to the king and half goes to the people, where do we know this from? And it says: 讚讻转讬讘, because the 驻住讜拽 says: 讜讬诪砖讞讜 诇讛壮 诇谞讙讬讚 讜诇爪讚讜拽 诇讻讛谉. This is a 驻住讜拽 in 讚讘专讬 讛讬诪讬诐 讗, 拽驻讬讟诇 讻状讟, 驻住讜拽 讻状讘, where it says that when they anointed 砖诇诪讛 as king, so the 驻住讜拽 says 讜讬诪砖讞讜 诇讛壮 诇谞讙讬讚, they anointed him for 讛壮, 诇谞讙讬讚 as a leader, and then they also anointed 爪讚讜拽 to be the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇. So 诪拽讬砖 谞讙讬讚 诇爪讚讜拽, so they compare the 谞讙讬讚 which was the king to 爪讚讜拽 who was the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇. 诪讛 爪讚讜拽, just like 爪讚讜拽 who was the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇, 诪讞爪讛 诇讜 讜诪讞爪讛 诇讗讞讬讜, that half he gets, and half his brothers the other 讻讛谞讬诐 get, 讗祝 谞讙讬讚, so too the king, 诪讞爪讛 诇讜 讜诪讞爪讛 诇讗讞讬讜, half goes to him, and half goes to his brothers. So from here we know that the king gets half of the 讘讬讝讛, and the other half goes to the other people. The 讙诪专讗 asks: 讜爪讚讜拽 讙讜驻讬讛 诪谞诇谉? Concerning 爪讚讜拽 which is the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇 himself, how do we know that the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇 gets half and the other 讻讛谞讬诐 get the other half? 讚转谞讬讗, because we learned a 讘专讬讬转讗, 专讘讬 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 says, it says concerning the 诇讞诐 讛驻谞讬诐, 讜讛讬转讛 诇讗讛专谉 讜诇讘谞讬讜, that the 诇讞诐 讛驻谞讬诐 should be to 讗讛专谉 and his children. So we see that 讗讛专谉 is equal to his children. So it means 诪讞爪讛 诇讗讛专谉, half goes to 讗讛专谉, 讜诪讞爪讛 诇讘谞讬讜, half goes to his children. Which means that half of the 诇讞诐 讛驻谞讬诐 goes to the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇, and half goes to the other 讻讛谞讬诐. So here we see that the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇 gets exactly half, so since the 驻住讜拽 compares the king to the 讻讛谉 讙讚讜诇, so the king too gets half of the 讘讬讝讛, and the other half goes to the people.
Concerning what the 讙诪专讗 said before, that 砖诇砖 诪爪讜转 谞爪讟讜讜 讬砖专讗诇 讘讻谞讬住转谉 诇讗专抓, three 诪爪讜转 were the 讗讬讚谉 commanded when they were supposed to enter 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇, and the three 诪爪讜转 were: 诇讛注诪讬讚 诇讛诐 诪诇讱, to appoint a king, 讜诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽, and to destroy the children of 注诪诇拽, 讜诇讘谞讜转 诇讛诐 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛, and to build for them the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. And as the 讙诪专讗 asks in many places, for instance in 砖讘转 讚祝 住状讟 etc., 诪谞讬讬谞讗 诇诪讛 诇讬? Why do we have to give the number? Since he mentions all three, so he should have started by saying that Why does he have to start off by saying that there are three 诪爪讜转? And even though 专砖状讬 here in this 讙诪专讗 says, 诇讛讻讬 谞拽讟 砖诇砖 讛诇诇讜, this is the reason 专砖状讬 says why they mentioned these three, 砖讛谉 转诇讜讬讜转 讝讜 讘讝讜, because they are dependent one upon another, 诇注砖讜转 讻住讚专谉, you have to make it in this order: first 诪诇讱, then 注诪诇拽, and then 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛. But 专砖状讬 just comes to answer why we mentioned 讚讜讜拽讗 these three. There are many 诪爪讜转 that the 讗讬讚谉 were commanded that they had to do in 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇. So the reason they mentioned these three is because these three have to go in this order: first 诪诇讱, then 注诪诇拽, then 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛. But this still doesn't answer why the 讙诪专讗 has to first start off by saying 讙壮 诪爪讜转 谞爪讟讜讜, that three 诪爪讜转 the 讗讬讚谉 were commanded. If we count them we see ourselves that they are three. And he says 讘讗诪转 there's another 拽砖讬讗: the 专诪讘状诐, in the beginning of 讛诇讻讜转 诪诇讻讬诐, when he writes about the 诪爪讜讛 of appointing a king, he says that 砖诇砖 诪爪讜转 谞爪讟讜讜 讬砖专讗诇 讘砖注转 讻谞讬住转谉 诇讗专抓. He brings this 讙诪专讗, or also the 诪拽讜专 of the 专诪讘状诐 could be in the 住驻专讬, and he quotes that there are three 诪爪讜讜转 that the 讬讬讚谉 were commanded when they entered 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇, and he brings all three 诪爪讜讜转. And the question that he asks is: Why is it important in 讛诇讻讜转 诪诇讻讬诐 to mention that there are three 诪爪讜讜转? In 讛诇讻讜转 诪诇讻讬诐, he talks about the 诪爪讜讛 of appointing a king. So there he should have said that the 讬讬讚谉 were commanded upon entering 讗专抓 讬砖专讗诇 to appoint a king. Why is it important to mention in 讛诇讻讜转 诪诇讻讬诐 that this is one of three 诪爪讜讜转 that they were commanded? And we also see in 住驻专 讛诪爪讜转, when he speaks about the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, this is in 诪爪讜转 注砖讛 讻壮, he writes: We have to make a 讘讬转 注讘讜讚讛, a 讘讬转 that should be a place where we would do the 注讘讜讚讛 for 讛砖诐, and the 专诪讘状诐 adds: 讘诇砖讜谉 住驻专讬, and in the 住驻专讬 it says, 砖诇砖 诪爪讜转 谞爪讟讜讜 讬砖专讗诇 讘注转 讻谞讬住转谉 诇讗专抓: 诇诪谞讜转 诇讛诐 诪诇讱, 讜诇讘谞讜转 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛, 讜诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽. And the question is: Why is it important, when we talk about the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, to mention that there are three 诪爪讜讜转 together, that you have a 诪爪讜讛 of a 诪诇讱, and you have a 诪爪讜讛 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽? And therefore, the 诇讬讜讘讗讜讜讬讟砖注专 专讘讬 says that we must say that when 专砖状讬 uses the 诇砖讜谉 in our 讙诪专讗 that the three 诪爪讜讜转 are 转诇讜讬讜转 讝讜 讘讝讜, that you have to do them in the proper order, and they are dependent one on another, 专砖状讬 doesn't only mean as far as the order is concerned, that means that they depend one after another, that after you do the first one, you have to do the second, this is the right order, but 专砖状讬 means to say that they are one dependent on the other, meaning that each one of these three 诪爪讜讜转 is not 讘砖诇讬诪讜转, is not complete, unless you also have the other 诪爪讜讛. In other words, when you appoint a king, when is this 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 讘转讻诇讬转 讛砖诇讬诪讜转? Only if afterwards you were 讝讜讻讛 to 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽, and then you also built the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. And the same would be concerning the second 诪爪讜讛: that when is the 诪爪讜讛 of destroying 注诪诇拽 complete? If it came after 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 and before building the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. And the same is concerning the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖: When is the 诪爪讜讛 of building the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 讘转讻诇讬转 讛砖诇讬诪讜转? Only if it came after 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 and 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽. And 讘讗诪转 we find an example to this, that we have two separate 诪爪讜讜转, and nevertheless, the 砖诇讬诪讜转 of one 诪爪讜讛 depends on the other. For instance, the 诪爪讜讛 of 转驻讬诇讬谉: we have two 诪爪讜讜转, the 诪爪讜讛 of 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 讬讚 and the 诪爪讜讛 of 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 专讗砖. And the 讚讬谉 is that first comes the 砖诇 讬讚 and then comes the 砖诇 专讗砖. And the 驻住讜拽 says: 讜讛讬讛 诇讗讜转 注诇 讬讚讱 讜诇讟讜讟驻转 讘讬谉 注讬谞讬讱. And the
讙诪专讗 says that 讻诇 讝诪谉 砖讘讬谉 注讬谞讬讱 讬讛讬讜 砖谞讬诐, that when you have the 砖诇 专讗砖 on, by that time you must have two, which means first comes the 砖诇 讬讚 and then comes the 砖诇 专讗砖. And as 讗讞专讜谞讬诐 explain, that that means that the 砖诇讬诪讜转 of the 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 专讗砖 is only if it comes after the 转驻讬诇讬谉 砖诇 讬讚. Even though it's a 诪爪讜讛 讘驻谞讬 注爪诪讛, it's a separate 诪爪讜讛, and therefore if a person doesn't have a 砖诇 讬讚, he still puts on the 砖诇 专讗砖 by itself, but nevertheless, when is the 砖诇讬诪讜转 of 砖诇 专讗砖? If it comes after the 砖诇 讬讚. And the same is with these three 诪爪讜讜转, that even though each 诪爪讜讛 is a separate 诪爪讜讛, but nevertheless, the 砖诇讬诪讜转 of each 诪爪讜讛 depends on the other two 诪爪讜讜转. And we 讟讗拽注 see a 专诪讝 for this, because here in the 讙诪专讗 we find that the 讙诪专讗 asks: Which one comes first? So the 讙诪专讗 says first comes to appoint a king, then comes 诪诇讞诪讛 讘注诪诇拽. And the 讙诪专讗 quotes the 驻住讜拽 where it says: 讻讬 讬讚 注诇 讻住 讬讛 诪诇讞诪讛 诇讛壮 讘注诪诇拽. And since 讻住 is a 诪诇讱, because 讗讬谉 讻住讗 讗诇讗 诪诇讱, as the 驻住讜拽 says: 讜讬砖讘 砖诇诪讛 注诇 讻住讗 讛壮 诇诪诇讱, so we know that first comes the 讻住讗, and then comes 诪诇讞诪讛 诇讛壮 讘注诪诇拽. Now the 讞讝状诇 讚专砖谞壮谉 in 转谞讞讜诪讗 and in 驻住讬拽转讗 and in 诪讚专砖 转讛诇讬诐, and 专砖状讬 on the 驻住讜拽, on this 驻住讜拽, 讻讬 讬讚 注诇 讻住 讬讛, they 讚专砖谞壮谉 that 讗讬谉 讛讻住讗 砖诇诐 注讚 砖讬诪讞讛 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽, that the 讻住讗 is not complete until you destroy the children of 注诪诇拽. So here we see that even though we're saying that this 讻住, which is the 讻住讗, refers to 诪诇讱, in this 讻住讗 itself it is not 砖诇诐 until you destroy the 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽. So this is a 专诪讝 that the 驻住讜拽 that we use for a 诪诇讱 is not 砖诇诐 until you destroy the 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽. So that itself shows that when is this 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 讘转讻诇讬转 讛砖诇讬诪讜转? Only after you did the second 诪爪讜讛 afterwards, which is to destroy the 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽. You cannot add to the city of 讬专讜砖诇讬诐 and to the 注讝专讜转 only if you have a 诪诇讱, etcetera, as we said in our 讙诪专讗 here. So here we see also that the 注谞讬谉 of building the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, which is the third 诪爪讜讛, when we make the 注讝专讛 bigger, this is part of the 诪爪讜讛 of building the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, this depends on the 诪诇讱. So we see the connection between the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛 and the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱. And even though there's a 讚注讛 in 讙诪专讗 there in 砖讘讜注讜转 讚祝 讟"讝 注诪讜讚 讗', that 讘讗讞转 诪讻诇 讗诇讜, that you don't have to have all the things, but one of the things, so it shows that it's not really dependent on a 诪诇讱, nevertheless, the 专讬讟讘"讗 writes there that 诇诪爪讜讛 讘注讬 讻讜诇诐. In order to have it 讘转讻诇讬转 讛砖诇讬诪讜转, to do it 讘讛讬讚讜专, you have to have everything, so you have to have a 诪诇讱, too. So we see the connection between the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 and the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱. 注讚 讻讚讬 讻讱, we see it in the 注讬谉 讬注拽讘, here on 注讬谉 讬注拽讘, this 讙诪专讗 住谞讛讚专讬谉, he says that from the 讙诪专讗 is 诪砖诪注 that when the 讙诪专讗 has a 住驻拽 which one comes first, there was no 住驻拽 whether 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 comes before 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 or not. The whole 住驻拽 was, what comes first: 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 before 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽, and 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽 before 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. But whether 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 comes before 诪诇讱, there was no such 住驻拽. And the reason is because a 诪诇讱 must be before you make the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. So this shows even stronger the connection between the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 and 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱. And that's what it says also in the 砖讗诇讜转 讜转砖讜讘讜转 讘讬转 讛诇讜讬 讞诇拽 讘' 住注讬祝 讗' 住注讬祝 拽讟谉 讞' in the 讛讙讛讛. Even though the 专讬"祝 on the 注讬谉 讬注拽讘 says that this is also a 住驻拽, but still we do see the connection between the two, that the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 is dependent on the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱. And this explains another thing. By us in the 讙诪专讗 here, when the 讙诪专讗 asks what comes first, to 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽 or 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛, and the 讙诪专讗 says that first comes 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽. And the 讙诪专讗 brings the 驻住讜拽 where it says 讜讛谞讬讞 诇讻诐 诪讻诇 讗讜讬讘讬讻诐 讜讛讬讛 讛诪拽讜诐 讗砖专 讬讘讞专 讛砖诐. So this shows that 诇讛讻专讬转 讝专注讜 砖诇 注诪诇拽 comes first. And then the 讙诪专讗 says, 讜讻谉 讘讚讜讚 讛讜讗 讗讜诪专. They bring also the 驻住讜拽 by 讚讜讚, where it says, 讜讬讛讬 讻讬 讬砖讘 讛诪诇讱 讚讜讚 讘讘讬转讜 讜讛砖诐 讛谞讬讞 诇讜 诪住讘讬讘, and then the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讬讗诪专 讛诪诇讱 讗诇 谞转谉 讛谞讘讬讗 专讗讛 谞讗 讗谞讻讬 讬讜砖讘 讘讘讬转 讗专讝讬诐 讜讙讜'. So there we see that when did 讚讜讚 start thinking about building the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖? Only after 讛砖诐 讛谞讬讞 诇讜 诪住讘讬讘 from all his enemies. 讜诇讻讗讜专讛, why did the 讙诪专讗 have to bring this second 专讗讬讛? The first 专讗讬讛 is a very strong 专讗讬讛. It says in 讞讜诪砖 that after 讛谞讬讞 诇讻诐 诪讻诇 讗讜讬讘讬讻诐, then 讜讛讬讛 讛诪拽讜诐 讗砖专 讬讘讞专 讛砖诐. Why do we need another 专讗讬讛 from 讚讜讚 that after he was 讛砖诐 讛谞讬讞 诇讜 诪住讘讬讘, so then he said to 谞转谉 讛谞讘讬讗 专讗讛 谞讗 讗谞讻讬 讬讜砖讘 讘讘讬转 讗专讝讬诐 讜讙讜'? And the 诇讬讜讘讗讜讜讬讟砖注专 专讘讬 explains that this is all based on what we said before. Because from the 驻住讜拽 in 讞讜诪砖 we only see that first comes 诪讞讬讬转 注诪诇拽, and then comes 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛. Because the 驻住讜拽 says first 讜讛谞讬讞 诇讻诐 诪讻诇 讗讜讬讘讬讻诐, and then it says 讜讛讬讛 讛诪拽讜诐 讗砖专 讬讘讞专 讛砖诐. But the 讙诪专讗 wants to show more than that. The 讙诪专讗 wants to show that the 诪爪讜讛 of 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛 is also dependent on the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱, as we said before that all three 诪爪讜转 are 转诇讜讬 讝讛 讘讝讛, that the 砖诇讬诪讜转 of each 诪爪讜讛 is dependent on the other. And that's why the 讙诪专讗 also brings the 驻住讜拽讬诐 by 讚讜讚, where it says, 讜讬讛讬 讻讬 讬砖讘 讛诪诇讱 讘讘讬转讜. That the 诪诇讱 sat in his house. He was complete 诪诇讱. 讜讛砖诐 讛谞讬讞 诇讜 诪住讘讬讘. 讛砖诐 made him rest, meaning the king, rest from his enemies. So 诪诪讬诇讗 the king was 讘转讻诇讬转 讛砖诇讬诪讜转. So then 讜讬讗诪专 讛诪诇讱, the 诪诇讱 said, since he was appointed as king already, and he already had the 讛谞讬讞 诪讻诇 讗讜讬讘讬讜, which means that his kingship became stronger, so now the 诪诇讱 says it's time to build the 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛. So that shows that when is the 砖诇讬诪讜转 of 讘谞讬谉 讘讬转 讛讘讞讬专讛? If it comes after the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱. Another thing interesting to mention here in the 讙诪专讗 is, because we find in the 讙诪专讗 two opinions whether this 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 was said 诇讻转讞讬诇讛 because 讛砖诐 wanted to give them this 诪爪讜讛, or as the 讙诪专讗 says, that this 驻专砖讛 was only said 讻谞讙讚 转专注讜诪转谉, 砖谞讗诪专 讜讗诪专转 讗砖讬诪讛 注诇讬 诪诇讱. Which means that since the 讗讬讬讘注专砖讟注专 knew that eventually the 讗讬讚谉 are going to ask for a king, that's why He gave the 诪爪讜讛 of 砖讜诐 转砖讬诐 注诇讬讱 诪诇讱. But according to the other opinion, 讛砖诐 gave the 诪爪讜讛 on His own. Now,
according to the opinion that 讛砖诐 gave them the 诪爪讜讛 because He knew that later on they're going to ask for a king, so then we understand why when the 讗讬讚谉 asked 砖诪讜讗诇 for a king, 砖诪讜讗诇 was unhappy. And the 讗讬讬讘注专砖讟注专 also said 讻讬 讗讜转讬 诪讗住讜. But according to the opinion that 讛砖诐 commanded them the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱 by itself, so the question is, why were 砖诪讜讗诇 讛谞讘讬讗 upset and 讛砖诐 upset when the 讗讬讚谉 asked for a king? After all, when they asked for a king, they were only asking to fulfill the 诪爪讜讛 that they were already given by 讛砖诐. So there are a lot of answers given in 住驻专讬诐. But one answer given in 讞住讬讚讬砖注 住驻专讬诐, mainly in 讚专讱 诪爪讜转讬讱 by the 爪诪讞 爪讚拽, in the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱, first and third 驻专拽 there he explains that there are two reasons for the 诪爪讜讛 of 诪讬谞讜讬 诪诇讱. Just like 讘讙砖诪讬讜转 there are two reasons why a country must have a king. One reason is as the 诪砖谞讛 says, 讗诇诪诇讗 诪讜专讗讛 砖诇 诪诇讻讜转 讗讬砖 讗转 专注讛讜 讞讬讬诐 讘诇注讜, if there wouldn't be fear of the kingdom, people would swallow each other alive. So you need a king that should restore and make order in the country that people should live without killing each other. And even though people have 砖讻诇 and people understand that you shouldn't kill each other, but nevertheless we know that it's not always easy to overcome the desires, for 注讬谉 专讜讗讛 讜诇讘 讞讜诪讚, etc. And therefore you have to have a king and the 讬专讗讛 of the king, that'll cause that people should go in the 讚专讱 讛讬砖专讛, in the right way. Then you have a higher level of why you need a king. That even when the people are in a level that 诪讜讞 砖诇讬讟 注诇 讛诇讘, they were over- overcome their desires, and people will live in peace, but nevertheless there are certain things that people would not understand themselves unless the king tells them. A king is supposed to be a person who's very smart and understands things better than other people understand, as it says concerning 砖讗讜诇, that he was 诪砖讻诪讜 讜诪注诇讛 讙讘讜讛 诪讻诇 讛注诐, that means that he was so great that what by other people was considered a head, by him it was just the shoulder, meaning his head was even higher. So therefore you have to have a king to tell the people to do things that they don't understand, but they follow the king because the king said so. And the king understands that which is 诇诪注诇讛 beyond their understanding. And the same is when we speak of a king on 讻诇诇 讬砖专讗诇. On one hand, we need a king if the people are not in the level of having the proper 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐, so then you have to have the king that he should bring them to 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐. Since he's such a great 爪讚讬拽, such a great man, and he is completely 讘讟诇 to 讛砖诐 and has the real 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐 讘转讻诇讬转 讛砖诇讬诪讜转, so he, by them being 讘讟诇 to him and having the 讬专讗- 讬专讗讛 of the 诪诇讱, he is able to bring into them the 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐. But that is the lower level for appointing a king. You have a lie- higher level of appointing a king, just like we said before, 讘讙砖诪讬讜转, there's the second concept in appointing a king, that he should give the people 注谞讬谞讬诐 that they cannot understand, and he will tell them to do it because he understands more than they do. So too, even when the 讗讬讚谉 are in a 诪讚专讙讛 that they do have the proper 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐, but still the king is able to give them a level of 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐 that they with their own 砖讻诇 would not be able to reach. Using the term of 拽讘诇讛 and 讞住讬讚讜转, where it says there are two levels of 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐, there is 讬专讗讛 转转讗讛, the lower level of 讬专讗讛, and then you have 讬专讗讛 注讬诇讗讛. So the lower level, the lower reason for the 诪爪讜讛 of appointing a king is that he should bring them to 讬专讗讛 转转讗讛, to the lower level of 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐. But then there is the higher reason for appointing a king, that even if the 讗讬讚谉 themselves have this 讬专讗讛 转转讗讛, through this great 爪讚讬拽, this great king who is completely 讘讟诇 to 讛砖诐, he is able to give them a level of 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐 which is beyond their own understanding, which is the level of 讬专讗讛 注讬诇讗讛. And this is what happened. When 讛砖诐 said that they should appoint a king, 讛砖诐 wanted that the reason for appointing the king should be for the higher level, that the 讗讬讚谉 should have their own 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐, and the king will give them the 讬专讗讛 注讬诇讗讛, the higher level of 讬专讗转 砖诪讬诐. But when they came to 砖诪讜讗诇 讛谞讘讬讗 and they said, we want a 诪诇讱 诇砖讜驻讟谞讜 讻讻诇 讛讙讜讬诐, so they wanted a king for the lower level, that they should have the lower level of 讬专讗讛. They shouldn't be this 注谞讬谉 of 讗讬砖 讗转 专注讛讜 讞讬讬诐 讘诇注讜, or or in other terms, they should have the 注谞讬谉 of 讬专讗讛 转转讗讛, 砖诪讜讗诇 was upset and 讛砖诐 was upset, because He hoped that they would be in a higher level that they should want the king as 讛砖诐 had in mind, for the 注谞讬谉 of 讬专讗讛 注讬诇讗讛. But nevertheless, since they weren't that level, so they had to have a king for that too. And this answers the other question, that if it was bad of them to ask for a king, why did He give in to them? Because was bad not because essentially it's bad, it's bad for the reason they had. But if this was their level and there was no choice, and they had to get the king for that level. And He hoped that after they would reach that level, then the king would also bring them to the higher level, to 讬专讗讛 注讬诇讗讛.
