Intro: No new teachings, just review

Every Lubavitcher is familiar with. ืžืžื™ืœื really what I'm going to be saying is not to add any ื—ื™ื“ื•ืฉื™ื, nothing new, just to review, which is very, very important. Even things that we know, we should review from time to time because we tend to forget. And these are very, very important matters. The ื”ืจื‘ื™ said it's very important to learn the ืขื ื™ื ื™ื of ืžืฉื™ื—. You know, the famous ืฉื™ื—ื” that the ื”ืจื‘ื™ said ื›ืดื– ืื“ืจ ืชืฉื ืดื, it's when he said, "I did everything I can, now I give everything over to you and you should do whatever you can." And ืฉื‘ืช after that, the ื”ืจื‘ื™ explained, what does he mean, what should we do concerning the ืขื ื™ืŸ of ืžืฉื™ื—? So he stressed mainly learning, that everyone should learn the ืขื ื™ื ื™ื that have to do with ืžืฉื™ื—. And learning means to keep it to not just learn once, but to have in one's mind. So therefore, I just think that it's important from time to time to review even matters that we do know because we tend to forget, and even if we remember it, you know, behind in in our mind, but it is not fresh in our mind. So we have to review it. So basically what I'm going to be saying is not anything new, but on the other hand, it is important to know. First, just to get to, what is the ืขื ื™ืŸ of ืžืฉื™ื— that we are waiting for? What is going to happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and what is this idea that we're waiting for ืžืฉื™ื— to come? And the

Maimonides on belief versus waiting for Mashiach

ืจืžื‘ืดื says that it's not just something a person is supposed to believe in, but it's something that this person is supposed to wait for. The ืจืžื‘ืดื in the beginning of the 11th ืคืจืง of ื”ืœื›ื•ืช ืžืœื›ื™ื says that anybody who does not believe in the coming of ืžืฉื™ื— or does not wait for the coming of ืžืฉื™ื—, which means even if he believes ืžืฉื™ื— will come, but he doesn't wait for him, this person denies in the ืชื•ืจื”, denies in the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, denies in the ืชื•ืจื” of ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื•, denies in ืคืกื•ืงื™ื of ื—ื•ืžืฉ. So this just shows how important it is to wait for ืžืฉื™ื—. But we have to know what we're waiting for. So this is why we have to go through some of the things to know what is it that that we're waiting for, and it's also ื ื•ื’ืข ืœื”ืœื›ื”. As far as ื”ืœื›ื” is concerned, because this is a ื“ื™ืŸ in ื”ืœื›ื” that we have to wait for ืžืฉื™ื—. So in ื”ืœื›ื”, we have to know what are we waiting for? What is the ื”ืœื›ื”, what do we have to wait for? So there is the ืขื ื™ืŸ of ืžืฉื™ื— the way we have it ืขืœ ืคื™ ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช, which is not different than the way the concept of ืžืฉื™ื— is in ื”ืœื›ื”, and I will just try to explain some of the points.

Material blessings promised with Mashiachโ€™s arrival

People, some people wait for ืžืฉื™ื— because they know that when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, all the ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช will be plentiful. We will have all the things that we need. People won't be sick, and people won't be poor, and everything that we expect that we that we dream about will take place, will happen, which is true. The ืจืžื‘ืดื himself says it in ืคืจืง ื™ืดื‘. Just to read you that ืจืžื‘ืดื, he says, ื•ื‘ืื•ืชื• ื”ื–ืžืŸ, which is the last ื”ืœื›ื” of the whole ืจืžื‘ืดื, which by the way, like I mentioned yesterday, just in a few days we're finishing the ืจืžื‘ืดื, so this is the ืกื™ื•ื of the ืจืžื‘ืดื: ื•ื‘ืื•ืชื• ื”ื–ืžืŸ, at that time, ืœื ื™ื”ื™ื” ืฉื ืœื ืจืขื‘, there will be no hunger, ื•ืœื ืžืœื—ืžื”, no war, ื•ืœื ืงื ืื”, no jealousy, ื•ืชื—ืจื•ืช, and no competition. We heard it in the video last night, the ื”ืจื‘ื™ repeated this: ืฉื”ื˜ื•ื‘ื” ืชื”ื™ื” ืžื•ืฉืคืขืช ื”ืจื‘ื”, that the good, goodness will be so plentiful, ื•ื›ืœ ื”ืžืขื“ื ื™ื ืžืฆื•ื™ื™ืŸ ื›ืขืคืจ, all sweetness, all good things will be plentiful like the dust. And we find it from ืžื“ืจืฉื™ื, where the ืžื“ืจืฉื™ื explain different things that are going to take place when ืžืฉื™ื— will come. For instance, it says that you won't have to bake any ื—ืœื”, you'll be able to go over to a tree and pick off ื—ืœื” from the tree. You won't have to go to the store to buy any dresses. It says that ื›ืœื™ ืžื™ืœืช, silk garments are going to grow from the tree, you'll be able to pick them off the tree. And that is what people are waiting for. Some people are waiting for for the coming of ืžืฉื™ื—. But we know the famous ื•ื•ืืจื˜ of the ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™, someone asked the ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™, "When will ืžืฉื™ื— come?" So the ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™ answered, "Unfortunately, the ืžืฉื™ื— that's going to that the ืžืฉื™ื— that's going to come, no one is waiting for him, and the one that they're waiting for will never come." Now, he didn't mean actually he'll never come. He meant to say that the ืžืฉื™ื— that everyone is waiting for just that for the benefit of the ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช, that is not really what ืžืฉื™ื— is all about. And the real thing that ืžืฉื™ื— is all about, most people, at this point, don't care about it. When ืžืฉื™ื— will come, we will all care about it, but at this point, they don't care. What is it that will happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come? So ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช this explains it at length, but it's all based on ืคืกื•ืงื™ื. In ืชื ืดืš, it says that when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, ื•ื ื’ืœื” ื›ื‘ื•ื“ ื”ืณ ื•ืจืื• ื›ืœ ื‘ืฉืจ ื™ื—ื“ื• ื›ื™ ืคื™ ื”ืณ ื“ื‘ืจ. When ืžืฉื™ื— will come, the ื›ื‘ื•ื“, the glory, the honor of ื”ืณ will be revealed, ื•ืจืื• ื›ืœ ื‘ืฉืจ, all flesh will see that ื”ืณ spoke, that means that the truth of ื”ืณ will be revealed. Or as the ืคืกื•ืง says, which the ืจืžื‘ืดื brings the very, very few words of the ืจืžื‘ืดื, he quotes the ืคืกื•ืง where it says, ื›ื™ ืžืœืื” ื”ืืจืฅ ื“ืขื” ืืช ื”ืณ ื›ืžื™ื ืœื™ื ืžื›ืกื™ื, that the world, the earth will be full of knowledge of ื”ืณ like the ocean covers the sea, water covers the sea, and as the That means that the truth of ื”ืฉื will be seen by everybody. We know that in truth the whole existence of the world only comes from ื”ืฉื, and as the ืคืกื•ืง says ืื™ืŸ ืขื•ื“ ืžืœื‘ื“ื•, there is nothing but ื”ืฉื, but we don't see it. Basically, the world denies the truth. The mere existence of the way the world is, which is not our fault, ื”ืฉื made it that way, but the way ื”ืฉื made the world, the world denies the existence of ื”ืฉื. If you look at the world, you look at anything in the world, there is no way that it shows that there is a Creator. There is no evidence in the world itself that there is a Creator, that there is somebody who made it. You have to think about it, like the ืจืžื‘ืดื says in the beginning of the ืจืžื‘ืดื, if you start thinking you come to a realization that there must be a ืžืžืฆื™ื ืจืืฉื•ืŸ, there must be the first Being that everything came from Him. But looking at the world just superficially, it doesn't show it. The world basically denies the truth of ื”ืฉื, the existence of ื”ืฉื. And ืžืฉื™ื— will come, the whole world will recognize the truth of ื”ืฉื and they'll see the truth. Actually, this is not something new. We say that three times a day in ื“ืื•ื•ืขื ืขืŸ. Three times a day we elaborate on this point. Besides all the other things that we talk about ืžืฉื™ื— in all the different ืชืคื™ืœื•ืช, I think it says in ืกืคืจื™ื that take a ื—ืฉื‘ื•ืŸ, I think sixty times a day you mention ืžืฉื™ื—, but there is one place that we talk about ืžืฉื™ื— in detail, and that is the end of ื“ืื•ื•ืขื ืขืŸ, every ืชืคื™ืœื”, in ืขืœื™ื ื•. The second half of ืขืœื™ื ื•, what do we say? ื•ืขืœ ื›ืŸ ื ืงื•ื” ืœืš ื”ืณ ืืœื•ืงื™ื ื• ืœืจืื•ืช ืžื”ืจื” ื‘ืชืคืืจืช ืขื•ื–ืš, we now wait, hope for You, ื”ืฉื, to see what do we what are we waiting for? ืœื”ืขื‘ื™ืจ ื’ืœื•ืœื™ื ืžืŸ ื”ืืจืฅ, that all the ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื–ืจื”, the idols will be taken away, ืœืชืงืŸ ืขื•ืœื ื‘ืžืœื›ื•ืช ืฉื™ืŸ ื“ืœืช ื™ื•ื“, the world will be fixed, will be complete with the ืžืœื›ื•ืช, with the kingship of ื”ืฉื. That means, and as we elaborate in that ื•ืขืœ ื›ืŸ ื ืงื•ื” ืœืš, that what we're waiting for doesn't say we're waiting for to have a lot of food and we're waiting for to have a lot of good things, we're waiting for to see that there is no ื’ืœื•ืœื™ื, there are no ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื–ืจื”, there is nobody who denies ื”ืฉื, and the only thing that will be will be the clarity of the truth of ื”ืฉื. That's what ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช explains is what will happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come. And that's a very, very important thing in, not in the lives of ืื™ื“ืŸ, but ื‘ื›ืœืœ in the whole reason for ื”ืฉื'ืก creating the world. We know that ื”ืฉื created the world for one reason. We don't know why, but we know what He had in mind. And that is what ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช brings constantly, and in the ืฉื™ื—ื•ืช the ืจื‘ื™ brings it hundreds and hundreds of times, the famous ืžื“ืจืฉ: ื ืชืื•ื•ื” ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื ืœื”ื™ื•ืช ืœื• ื™ืชื‘ืจืš ื“ื™ืจื” ื‘ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื. ื”ืฉื had a desire to have a dwelling place in this low physical world. So ื”ืฉื wants that this physical world should become a place where He will be recognized. Why ื”ืฉื that had that in mind we don't know, that's why the ืžื“ืจืฉ uses the term ื ืชืื•ื•ื” ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื, He had a desire. In Yiddish it's called a ืชืื•ื•ื”, and they once asked the ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™, "Why did ื”ืฉื have that desire?" So he answered, "ืื•ื™ืฃ ื ืชืื•ื•ื” ืคืจืขื’ื˜ ืžืขืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืงื™ื™ืŸ ืงืฉื™ื." You can't ask a question when it comes to a ืชืื•ื•ื”, to a desire. See, in a human being it means that, why do you have desire? I don't know, ืก'ื”ืื˜ ืžื™ืจ ืื ื’ืขื›ืืคื˜ ื ืžืฉื•ื’ืขืช, I don't know why. But by ื”ืฉื it doesn't mean that. What it means is that ืื•ื™ืฃ ื ืชืื•ื•ื” ืคืจืขื’ื˜ ืžืขืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืงื™ื™ืŸ ืงืฉื™ื is beyond question. There is no way we're able to understand it. It is impossible for us to understand the reason for creation because that is something that came before creation, so we are part of creation, so we are all after this reason is there. But the reason before creation, we have no idea, we'll never able to understand it. But we do know what He wanted. We don't know why, but we know what, and that was I think it dims, yeah, we know what He wanted: a ื“ื™ืจื” ื‘ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื. So when will this happen? When will this dwelling place for ื”ืฉื take place in this world? And that is when ืžืฉื™ื— will come. That's when this world, after it being a low world as it is, will recognize ื”ืฉื. See, before, in the beginning, before ื”ืฉื created the world, there was nothing but Him, so there was nothing but, so to speak, the recognition of ื”ืฉื. But He wanted that there should be a world where there is no recognition, that's why the ืžื“ืจืฉ refers to this world as ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื, a low world. Low doesn't mean low in space, it's a lower floor. Low means further away from the truth, it's called low. This is a place where it's very, very far away from the truth. So ื”ืฉื wanted that there should be a place like that, and then we, through our service of ื”ืฉื, will bring Him back. And that will happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come. And that's why it's so important to have in mind and wait for the coming of ืžืฉื™ื—, because there are some people on the outside who ask questions and say, "Why do you make such a fuss of the coming of ืžืฉื™ื—? We know, we believe ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and we have to believe, and we wait for him, but the main stress in our life should be to do the ืžืฆื•ื•ืช." And they're right, the main thing is we have to do ืžืฆื•ื•ืช, we have to do what ื”ืฉื wants us to do, that's our goal, and we know that ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and we have to wait for him, but why make such a fuss over the fact that he will come? Because the truth is, this is the whole goal. Why did ื”ืฉื want us to do ืžืฆื•ื•ืช? Why did ื”ืฉื create the worlds and put us here and give us ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ื•ืช, is all for this reason. So it is not like we're doing two things, there are two separate things: one is you have to do ืžืฆื•ื•ืช, you have to listen to ื”ืฉื, and then there is another point that eventually ืžืฉื™ื— will come. It's one thing. Doing ืžืฆื•ื•ืช means bringing ื”ืฉื into this world, which will come to its completion when ืžืฉื™ื— will come. This explains an interesting thing. We know that in ื—ื•ืžืฉ, when ื™ืขืงื‘ ืื‘ื™ื ื• gave the ื‘ืจื›ื” to ื™ื”ื•ื“ื”, he said the ืœืฉื•ืŸ: ืขื“ ื›ื™ ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื”, that he gave him a ื‘ืจื›ื” that the ืžืœื›ื•ืช, the kingship should stay in the hands of ื™ื”ื•ื“ื”, the ืฉื‘ื˜ ื™ื”ื•ื“ื”, and he says: ืขื“ ื›ื™ ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื”, till ืฉื™ืœื” will come. Who is ืฉื™ืœื”? ืฉื™ืœื” is another name for ืžืฉื™ื—. But interesting enough, the ืคืจื™ืขืจื“ื™ืงืขืจ ืจื‘ื™ brings in a ืฉื™ื—ื” that the word ืฉื™ืœื” is ื‘ื’ื™ืžื˜ืจื™ื, the numerical value of the word ืฉื™ืœื” is ืžืฉื”. ืžืฉื” is 345. ืฉื™ืœื”: ืฉ, ื™, ืœ, ื” is 345. ื™ื‘ื, the word ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื”, the word ื™ื‘ื is ื™, ื‘, ื, is 13. If you add 13 to ืžืฉื”, you add up ืžืฉื™ื—. ืžืฉื™ื— is ืž, ืฉ, ื™, ื—, it's 358, that's 345 plus 13. So the ืคืจื™ืขืจื“ื™ืงืขืจ ืจื‘ื™ said ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื” means that 13 plus ืžืฉื” equals ืžืฉื™ื—. In other words, if we want to know what will bring ืžืฉื™ื—, because the word ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื” means he shall come, ืžืฉื™ื— shall come. So if we want to know what is it that we have to do to bring ืžืฉื™ื—, ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื” is 13 plus ืžืฉื”. What does that mean? The ืจื‘ื™ explains at length, and I'll just give over the ืฉื™ื—ื” in short. 13 we know is not an unlucky number, as the world thinks, but a very, very lucky number. 13 is ื‘ื’ื™ืžื˜ืจื™ื ืื—ื“. What do we need more than that? ืื—ื“, ื, ื—, ื“, 1, 8, and 4 is 13. And ืื—ื“ in ืื™ื“ื™ืฉืงื™ื™ื˜ is probably the most important word that exists. ืฉืžืข ื™ืฉืจืืœ ื”ืฉื ืืœืงื™ื ื• ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“. ื”ืฉื is one. So the word ืื—ื“ is 13. So what this ืคืกื•ืง tells us is that in order for ืžืฉื™ื— to come, we have to have ืื—ื“ plus ืžืฉื”, that will equal ืžืฉื™ื—, that'll bring ืžืฉื™ื—. And what does that mean? In ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช we learned the question that asks: why is it that in ืฉืžืข ื™ืฉืจืืœ we say ื”ืฉื ืืœืงื™ื ื• ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“, ื”ืฉื is one, wouldn't it make more sense if it would say ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“, ื”ืฉื is single? Because the difference between ืื—ื“ and ื™ื—ื™ื“, single means that there is nothing else. If you say someone has a ื‘ืŸ ื™ื—ื™ื“, you know he has one son or one child, and no more, single. If you say this is ื‘ืŸ ืื—ื“, this is one son, doesn't mean there can't be another. He is one, and then you can have a second. We say in the ื”ื’ื“ื”: there are four sons. ืื—ื“ ื—ื›ื, one is a ื—ื›ื, ื•ืื—ื“ ืจืฉืข, but there are other sons. That's why in ื™ื’ื“ืœ, okay, we in ื—ื‘ืดื“ we don't say ื™ื’ื“ืœ, but ื™ื’ื“ืœ was written ืขืœ ืคื™ ืงื‘ืœื”, and in ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช the ืคื™ื•ื˜, that poem, so to speak, of ื™ื’ื“ืœ was brought down, there we say ื”ื•ื ืื—ื“ ื•ืื™ืŸ ืฉื ื™, He is one, there is no second to Him. Why do we have to add the words there is no second? Because just by saying that He is one doesn't necessarily mean there is no second. So we have to make sure that we understand it, so we say ื”ื•ื ืื—ื“ ื•ืื™ืŸ ืฉื ื™. So the question is, if we want to really stress that ื”ืฉื is the only one, really it should have said not ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“, but it should have said ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“. And ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช answers that this actually is the reason why we say ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“, for the same reason that we have the question. ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“ would mean that there is nothing but ื”ืฉื. Basically saying that, in Yiddish we'd say ื ื™ืฉื˜ื ืงื™ื™ืŸ ื•ื•ืขืœื˜, there is no world. All this is an imagination. That's not what ื”ืฉื wanted. ื”ืฉื wants us to realize that even though we do look around and we see a world, we do see a second entity other than ื”ืฉื seemingly, nevertheless, we have to realize that even this seeming ingly second entity is only one with ื”ืฉื, and it's not a sep- another an entity on its own. When we say ื™ื—ื™ื“, it would mean there is nothing else. We want to say that the other things that seem to exist are also only there because of ื”ืฉื. Actually, in ืฉื•ืœื—ืŸ ืขืจื•ืš it says that when we say the word ืื—ื“, when we say ืงืจื™ืืช ืฉืžืข and we close our eyes and we say ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“, why do we cover our eyes? Because we have to really concentrate. What do we have to think about? Well, we have to think the ืคื™ืจื•ืฉ ื”ืžื™ืœื•ืช, the meaning of the words, which are, hear O ื™ื™ื“ืŸ, ื”ืฉื, our God, ื”ืฉื is one. But it says more. You have to when you say the word ืื—ื“, there is something special you have to think. What you have to think is that the word ืื—ื“ is made up of three letters: ื, ื—, ื“. ื— is eight, ื“ is four, and ื is one. Which means we have to think, and this is ื”ืœื›ื”, we have to think that ื—, which means the seven heavens and the earth, makes up eight, and the ื“ means the four corners of the earth, all are ื‘ื˜ืœ, nullified to the ื, to the one, which is ื”ืฉื. So it doesn't say there is nothing else. It says there is ื— and there is ื“, there are seven heavens and the earth, there are four corners of the earth, and all that, as they are within their limitations, are all nothing but ื‘ื˜ืœ to ื”ืฉื. That's a higher level than realizing, thinking that there is nothing else. Practically speaking, it's the same. Imagine if we would say ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“. There is nothing but ื”ืฉื, and we sit in ืฉื•ืœ and we close our eyes and we cover our eyes with our hands and we say ืฉืžืข ืืœื•ืงื™ื ื• ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“, there is nothing but ื”ืฉื, fine. We realize that, and what happens? Afterwards, we open our eyes, we go outside, and we say, "Hey, it's not so simple. What do you mean there's nothing else? Don't I see a big world out there? You go to business, you go wherever, there's a big world." And it seems to contradict to what you just said, ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“. And it's very hard to realize that even though I said ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“, what I see is not really the way it is, and it's really, I wouldn't use the word an illusion, but it's not really really as it seems, it's very hard. So ื”ืฉื said, "Don't do that. Don't say ื”ืฉื ื™ื—ื™ื“. Say ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“." That means that while you say ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“, I know that there is a world out there, but I realize that that world out there really in essence is nothing but ื”ืฉื. The ื— and the ื“ are all ื‘ื˜ืœ to the ื. It means we're using a word that seems to be giving a place for something else. ืื—ื“ gives a place for a ืฉื ื™ or a ืฉืœื™ืฉื™ or a ืจื‘ื™ืขื™, for a second, for another entity, and nevertheless, we're saying ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“. That's what the word meaning of ืื—ื“ is. And that's what ื”ืฉื wants us to do through our ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ื•ืช. When we do ืชื•ืจื” and we learn ืชื•ืจื”, we do ืžืฆื•ื•ืช, what we're really doing is we're bringing the truth of ื”ืฉื into the world. We're not, so to speak, contradicting the world, saying that there is no world. We're showing how the world, with its limitations, is all nothing but ื”ืฉื. When did ื”ืฉื give us this ืชื•ืจื” in order for us to be able to bring ื”ืฉื into the world, to show that ื”ืฉื ืื—ื“? By ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, when ื”ืฉื gave the ืชื•ืจื”. At the time of ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื” itself, when ื”ืฉื came down to ื”ืจ ืกื™ื ื™ and gave us the ืชื•ืจื”, at that time the world felt ื™ื—ื™ื“. At that time the world stopped. It says in ืžื“ืจืฉ that when ื”ืฉื said ืื ื›ื™ ื”ืฉื ืืœื•ืงื™ืš, the whole world stopped, the whole universe, the whole world stopped. It says not only the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ heard ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, it says the ื’ื•ื™ื wherever they are heard the thunders and the lightning. Actually, it says in the ื’ืžืจื that when the ื’ื•ื™ื heard it, they got scared. They ran to their ื ื‘ื™ื, to ื‘ืœืขื, asking what's going on. They thought another flood is coming. And they said, "We hear these noises." And ื‘ืœืขื said, "Don't worry, nothing's happening. ื”ืฉื ืขื•ื– ืœืขืžื• ื™ืชืŸ, ื”ืฉื is giving ืขื•ื– to His nation." What's ืขื•ื–? ืื™ืŸ ืขื•ื– ืืœื ืชื•ืจื”. ืขื•ื–, strength, means ืชื•ืจื”. ื”ืฉื is giving the ืชื•ืจื”. So when the ื’ื•ื™ื heard it, and they felt much better, they said, "ื”ืฉื ื™ื‘ืจืš ืืช ืขืžื• ื‘ืฉืœื•ื, that ื”ืฉื bless His nation with peace." But the whole world heard it. It says in ืžื“ืจืฉ that when ื”ืฉื said ืื ื›ื™ ื”ืฉื ืืœื•ืงื™ืš and all the ืขืฉืจืช ื”ื“ื‘ืจื•ืช, ืฉื•ืจ ืœื ื’ืขื”, an ox didn't make noise, ืฆื™ืคื•ืจ ืœื ืฆืคืฆืฃ, the birds didn't sing. The whole world stopped, the whole world recognized that there is nothing but ื”ืฉื, which is a level of ื™ื—ื™ื“. At that time the whole world felt that there is no they are no nothing. They couldn't do anything. They just stopped what they were doing, and they couldn't do anything more. So in the beginning, ื”ืฉื, in order for us to have the ื›ื—, the strength, the power, to be able to bring ื”ืฉื into the world through ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ื•ืช, He had to first give a strong injection. It's like when you take when you take the medicine, sometimes at first they tell you take two doses in the beginning, take antibiotics, and then you take it slower. So ื”ืฉื had to give a great injection into the world to give the world this ื›ื— that the world should be a ื›ืœื™, a vessel, that we should be able to bring godliness into the world. So first what This all stopped, the world came back. People stopped, went back to their normal business. But that put into the world this ื›ื— that now we are able through ืชื•ืจื” and ืžืฆื•ืช to be able to bring slowly ื”ืฉื into the world till we'll come to the end when we will finish with our ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” and then ืžืฉื™ื— will come. Now, we know that ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื” we always connect to ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื•. It says in a ืคืกื•ืง, ื”ืฉื said: ื–ื›ืจื• ืชื•ืจืช ืžืฉื” ืขื‘ื“ื™, remember the ืชื•ืจื” of my servant ืžืฉื”. And the ื’ืžืจื asks: the ืชื•ืจื” of ืžืฉื”? The ืชื•ืจื” of ื”ืฉื, not the ืชื•ืจื” of ืžืฉื”! The ื’ืžืจื answers, ืžืฉื” gave his life for the ืชื•ืจื”, so it's referred to him. Or what it really means is that ืชื•ืจื”, when it was given, came through ืžืฉื”, so we refer to it as ืžืฉื”. In ืคืจืงื™ ืื‘ื•ืช, we start with the words ืžืฉื” ืงื™ื‘ืœ ืชื•ืจื” ืžืกื™ื ื™, ืžืฉื” received the ืชื•ืจื”. And the ืžืคืจืฉื™ื ask: shouldn't it say the reverse? ื”ืฉื gave the ืชื•ืจื” to

Moshe, Torah Reception and Messiah Connection

ืžืฉื”, why does it say ืžืฉื” received the ืชื•ืจื”? So it says that the receiving of the ืชื•ืจื” by ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื” has a special connection to ืžืฉื”. And there are different explanations why, but the fact is that ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื” is referred to ืžืฉื”. So basically what we're saying is that when will ืžืฉื™ื— come? When we have ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, which is ื™ื—ื™ื“, plus those few thousand years that we work in the form of ืื—ื“. When we have these two things, then ืžืฉื™ื— will come. And that's what ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื” is. ื™ื‘ื ืฉื™ืœื” is, we said, the ื’ื™ืžื˜ืจื™ื ืฉื™ืœื” is ื’ื™ืžื˜ืจื™ื ืžืฉื”, ื™ื‘ื is the ื’ื™ืžื˜ืจื™ื ืื—ื“, and we say ืžืฉื” plus ืื—ื“ will equal ืžืฉื™ื—. Which means that having the what ืžืฉื” represents, which is ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, and then we have the ืื—ื“, which is what we do throughout all these thousand years, now 3,300 and 15 about, years from ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, all the years, what are we doing? We're not doing ื™ื—ื™ื“, we're doing the ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” of ืื—ื“. And when we have that together with ืื—ื“, that's when ืžืฉื™ื— will come.

World Spiritualization in Messianic Era

Why? Because this is what is going to place take place when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, that the world will not stop to be, not that the world will become ื ืชื‘ื˜ืœ, will become, spiritualize, disappear, and there will only be ื”ืฉื as it was in the beginning of creation. The world will continue, but the world, as a world, will see and recognize the truth of ื”ืฉื. That's ืื—ื“, not ื™ื—ื™ื“, and that will come through our ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” throughout all these years. Actually, there is a ืžื—ืœื•ืงืช, an argument between the ืจืžื‘ืดื and the ืจืžื‘ืดืŸ. We know that there are two stages: there's ื™ืžื•ืช ื”ืžืฉื™ื—, ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and then we have the stage of ืชื—ื™ื™ืช ื”ืžืชื™ื, the resurrection of the dead. The ืจืžื‘ืดื says that eventually, after ืชื—ื™ื™ืช ื”ืžืชื™ื, when all people will become alive, eventually, we will lose our bodies and we will remain only ืจื•ื—ื ื™ื•ืช, only ื ืฉืžื•ืช, and that's how it's going to go on for eternity. The ืจืžื‘ืดืŸ says that after ืชื—ื™ื™ืช ื”ืžืชื™ื, we will get our bodies back, all the people who passed away will come back, and that how is going to remain forever, ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช with the bodies. We're going to stay that way. And the ืืจื™ื–ืดืœ ืคืกืงืณื ื˜ like the ืจืžื‘ืดืŸ. And we know when it comes to these matters, which are basically Kabbalistic, spiritual, mystical matters, the ื”ืœื›ื” is like the one that's more connected to ืงื‘ืœื”, so the ืจืžื‘ืดืŸ and the ืืจื™ื–ืดืœ, who is the greatest ืžืงื•ื‘ืœ, ืคืกืงืณื ื˜ that that's how it's going to be. Why?

Continued World and Divine Revelation

Because the world is not going to cease to be, there will be a world, and in the world there will be ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœืงื•ืช, the revelation of ื”ืฉื. This is what will happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and that's how it's going to stay, go more and more, a greater level, a greater level, because when we learn ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช we know there are so many spiritual levels, infinite amount of spiritual worlds. Generally speaking, we know there is a ืกื“ืจ ื”ืฉืชืœืฉืœื•ืช, a ืกื“ืจ, an order of evolution of things in the spiritual world starting from ืืดืง and going down and ืืฆื™ืœื•ืช and ื‘ืจื™ืื”, ื™ืฆื™ืจื”, ืขืฉื™ื”. These are very general, but there are an infinite amount of worlds, and when ืžืฉื™ื— will come we will go higher to to feel the truth of ื”ืฉื the way they are in the higher worlds, going higher and higher and higher, and that's how it's going to go on forever. But basically this is what's going to happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and this is what we are waiting for, not for the good chocolate cake that we'll have when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, it'll be the most tastiest cake in the world, which is ืืžืช, and not for the best nicest clothes that they are going to be then, which is ืืžืช, it's true. ืžืขื“ื ื™ื ืžืฆื•ื™ื™ืŸ ื›ืขืคืจ, as the ืจืžื‘ืดื says, all goodies, ืžืขื“ื ื™ื comes from ืขื“ืŸ, ื’ืขืฉืžืืงืข ื–ืื›ืŸ, all tasty things will be plentiful, but that's not what we're waiting for. The

Rambam on Abundance and Its Nullification

ืจื‘ื™ explains, actually, that the ืจืžื‘ืดื said ืžืขื“ื ื™ื ืžืฆื•ื™ื™ืŸ ื›ืขืคืจ, that all plenty things, all good things will be like ืขืคืจ, so simple ืคืฉื˜ is they will be so plenty, like the sand, no, like the dust, but the ืจื‘ื™ says it means another thing. When we're ืžื‘ื˜ืœ ื—ืžืฅ, when we do ื‘ื™ื˜ื•ืœ of ืคืกื—, before ืคืกื—, and we nullify the ื—ืžืฅ, we say, let the ื—ืžืฅ be ื”ืคืงืจ, which means ownerless, and it should be ื›ืขืคืจื ื“ืืจืขื, it should be like the dust of the ground. So we don't mean it should be plenty, it should mean it should be nothing. That's what's going to happen when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, all this will mean nothing to us, it'll be ื›ืขืคืจ, ืžืขื“ื ื™ื will be there, but it will be ื›ืขืคืจ, it'll be like sand, it won't mean much. Why? Because we will be involved in greater, deeper things, as the ืจืžื‘ืดื says, ื•ืœื ื™ื”ื™ื” ืขืกืง ื›ืœ ื”ืขื•ืœื, the involvement, occupation of the whole world will be ืืœื ืœื“ืขืช ืืช ื”ืณ, only to know ื”ืณ. And he says the whole world, he doesn't say all the Jews, the whole world, because the whole world will recognize ื”ืณ. This is, in a nutshell, the way the concept of ืžืฉื™ื— is ืขืœ ืคื™ ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช. This also fits with the way the concept of ืžืฉื™ื— is according to ื”ืœื›ื”. The

Rambam's Halacha on Belief in Messiah

way the ืจื‘ื™ explains, which others I didn't see should explain it that way, but the ืจื‘ื™ explains ืคืฉื˜, the interpretation of the ืจืžื‘ืดื that way, and it's important to know, because we know that whatever the ืจืžื‘ืดื writes is a ื”ืœื›ื”. He doesn't write stories, he doesn't tell us ื”ืฉืงืคื”, or how we should have an outlook on life, he writes clear ื”ืœื›ื”. So whatever the ืจืžื‘ืดื tells us about ืžืฉื™ื— is ื”ืœื›ื”. And since there is a ื”ืœื›ื” that we have to believe in coming of ืžืฉื™ื—, and there's a ื”ืœื›ื” that we have to wait for the coming of ืžืฉื™ื—, all the details that the ืจืžื‘ืดื mentions concerning ืžืฉื™ื— is part of this ื”ืœื›ื”. In other words, so important to say that if a person doesn't know the last two ืคืจืงื™ื of ืจืžื‘ืดื, doesn't really fulfill the ืžืฆื•ื” of believing in ืžืฉื™ื—, because everything that the ืจืžื‘ืดื mentions is part of the ื”ืœื›ื”. The truth is there are so many things that it's written about, written about ืžืฉื™ื—, but the ืจืžื‘ืดื doesn't mention them all. For some reason, the ืจืžื‘ืดื learns that all those things are not part of the ื”ืœื›ื”. The ืจืžื‘ืดื is not a ืกืคืจ of history or a ืกืคืจ of telling us the future, so he doesn't tell us all the things that will happen in the future when ืžืฉื™ื— will come. He only tells us those things which are important for us to know as a ื”ืœื›ื”. So obviously, those things that the ืจืžื‘ืดื does write are ื”ืœื›ื”. So if a person doesn't know it, it might not be his fault or her fault, but she's still not fulfilling the ื”ืœื›ื” of believing, believing and waiting for ืžืฉื™ื—. So let's see some of the things, we can't go through all the ื”ืœื›ื•ืช, but just some of the things which the ืจืžื‘ืดื writes, and the way the ืจื‘ื™ explains it, and the ืจื‘ื™ explains it in a way if you look back and you see, yes, that's what the ืจืžื‘ืดื says. And people, I would add, hard to say this, too, that people who don't know the ืฉื™ื—ื” are also lacking, people who might know the ืจืžื‘ืดื, but don't know the true ืคืฉื˜ in the ืจืžื‘ืดื are also lacking in the ื”ืœื›ื” of believing in ืžืฉื™ื— the right way and waiting for ืžืฉื™ื— the right way. So

Rambam Halachot: The Messianic King

let's start ืคืจืง ื™ืดื, the 11th ืคืจืง of ื”ืœื›ื•ืช ืžืœื›ื™ื, and in other prints, this, these last two ืคืจืงื™ื are referred to by the ืจืžื‘ืดื himself as ื”ืœื›ื•ืช ืžืฉื™ื—. The ืจืžื‘ืดื says like this: ื”ืžืœืš ื”ืžืฉื™ื— ืขืชื™ื“ ืœืขืžื•ื“, ืžืœืš ื”ืžืฉื™ื— is going to get up, ื•ืœื”ื—ื–ื™ืจ, and return, ืžืœื›ื•ืช ื“ื•ื“ ืœื™ื•ืฉื ื”, return the kingdom of ื“ื•ื“ ื”ืžืœืš to its original state, ืœืžืžืฉืœื” ื”ืจืืฉื•ื ื”, as it was originally. And what's he going to do? ื•ื‘ื•ื ื” ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ, he's going to build the ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ, ื•ืžืงื‘ืฅ ื ื“ื—ื™ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, and he's going to gather all the ืื™ื“ืŸ wherever they are, ื•ื—ื•ื–ืจื™ืŸ ื›ืœ ื”ืžืฉืคื˜ื™ื ื‘ื™ืžื™ื• ื›ืฉื”ื™ื• ืžืงื•ื“ื, and all the ื”ืœื›ื•ืช, all the laws will return as they were before. What will happen? ืžืงืจื™ื‘ื™ืŸ ืงืจื‘ื ื•ืช, we'll bring ืงืจื‘ื ื•ืช. Now, we don't have a ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ, we can't bring ืงืจื‘ื ื•ืช, then we'll bring ืงืจื‘ื ื•ืช. ื•ืขื•ืฉื™ืŸ ืฉืžื˜ื™ืŸ ื•ื™ื•ื‘ืœื•ืช ื›ื›ืœ ืžืฆื•ืชื” ื”ืืžื•ืจื” ื‘ืชื•ืจื”, we will have ืฉืžื™ื˜ื” and ื™ื•ื‘ืœ, now we don't have that, even though we do have ืฉืžื™ื˜ื” in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, it's only ืžื“ืจื‘ื ืŸ, we don't have ื™ื•ื‘ืœ, certain ื”ืœื›ื•ืช don't apply, so all the ื”ืœื›ื•ืช will come back 100%, every ื”ืœื›ื” of the ืชื•ืจื” will come back. And then he goes on to say that whoever doesn't believe in ืžืฉื™ื—, doesn't believe in... Then later on, he says like this, when he describes the coming of ืžืฉื™ื—, he says: ื•ืื ื™ืขืžื•ื“ ืžืœืš ืžื‘ื™ืช ื“ื•ื“, when you'll, you'll have a king from the house of ื“ื•ื“, ื”ื•ื’ื” ื‘ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืขื•ืกืง ื‘ืžืฆื•ืช ื›ื“ื•ื“ ืื‘ื™ื•, who learns ืชื•ืจื” and does ืžืฆื•ืช like ื“ื•ื“ ื”ืžืœืš, his father, ื‘ืชื•ืจื” ืฉื‘ื›ืชื‘ ื•ืฉื‘ืขืœ ืคื”, according to the written ืชื•ืจื” and the oral ืชื•ืจื”, ื•ื™ื›ื•ืฃ ื›ืœ ื™ืฉืจืืœ ืœื™ืœืš ื‘ื” ื•ืœื—ื–ืง ื‘ื“ืงื”, he's going to force all the ืื™ื“ืŸ to follow ืชื•ืจื”, he's going to fix the cracks that are there in ืื™ื“ื™ืฉืงื™ื™ื˜, ื•ื™ืœื—ื ืžืœื—ืžื•ืช ื”ืณ, and he'll fight wars for ื”ืณ, ื”ืจื™ ื–ื” ื‘ื—ื–ืงืช ืฉื”ื•ื ืžืฉื™ื—, then assume that he's ืžืฉื™ื—. ืื ืขืฉื” ื•ื”ืฆืœื™ื—, if he did that and succeeded, ื•ื‘ื ื” ืžืงื“ืฉ ื‘ืžืงื•ืžื•, and then he built the ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ, ื•ืงื‘ืฅ ื ื“ื—ื™ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, and he gathered all the ืื™ื“ืŸ, ื”ืจื™ ื–ื” ืžืฉื™ื— ื‘ื•ื“ืื™, then he's definitely ืžืฉื™ื—. Then later on, the ืจืžื‘ืดื says that

World's Nature Remains Initially

when ืžืฉื™ื— will come, at least in the beginning, there will be no change in the nature of the world. The nature of the world will remain the way it is. Not that people think that all of a sudden all these things are going to happen, originally there won't be a change in the nature of the world, this is basically what the ืจืžื‘ืดื says. In middle, the ืจืžื‘ืดื brings proof from different ืคืกื•ืงื™ื, from ืคืกื•ืงื™ื of ื—ื•ืžืฉ, that ืžืฉื™ื— will come, and I'll read you one thing that's important. He says, ืืฃ ื‘ืคืจืฉื” ืฉืœ ื‘ืœืขื ื ืืžืจ, in the ืคืจืฉื” of ื‘ืœืขื, which is ืคืจืฉืช ื‘ืœืง, we have the prophecy of ื‘ืœืขื, it says, ื•ืฉื ื ื™ื‘ื ื‘ืฉื ื™ ื”ืžืฉื™ื—ื™ื, there he prophesies about two ืžืฉื™ื—'s: ืžืฉื™ื— ื”ืจืืฉื•ืŸ ืฉื”ื•ื ื“ื•ื“, the first ืžืฉื™ื—, which is ื“ื•ื“, ืฉื”ื•ืฉื™ืข ืืช ื™ืฉืจืืœ ืžื™ื“ ืฆืจื™ื”ื, who helped the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ from their enemies, ื•ืžืฉื™ื— ื”ืื—ืจื•ืŸ, and the last ืžืฉื™ื—, ืฉืขื•ืžื“ ืžื‘ื ื™ื•, which will be from his descendants, ืฉืžื•ืฉื™ืข ืืช ื™ืฉืจืืœ ื‘ืื—ืจื•ื ื”, which will help the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ at the end. And he brings the ืคืกื•ืงื™ื where we see in the ื ื‘ื•ืื” of ื‘ืœืขื which part of the ืคืกื•ืง talks about ื“ื•ื“ ื”ืžืœืš, part of the ืคืกื•ืง talks about ืžืฉื™ื—. Now, the ืจื‘ื™ asked many questions on all these things that I mentioned, and I'm not going to go through it, we don't have much time, but just the point of it.

Why Rambam Highlights David as Messiah

One point, one question is very obvious: why is it important for the ืจืžื‘"ื to mention that there are two ืžืฉื™ื—'s? Why is it important for the ืจืžื‘"ื to mention that ื“ื•ื“ ื”ืžืœืš is also called ืžืฉื™ื—? And the ืจืžื‘"ื described two ืžืฉื™ื—'s that will be in this history, which would be ื“ื•ื“ ื”ืžืœืš and ืžืฉื™ื—. He only talks about ืžืฉื™ื— here, this is the ื”ืœื›ื” of ืžืฉื™ื—, of ืžืœืš ื”ืžืฉื™ื—, so why does he talk about ื“ื•ื“ ื”ืžืœืš? And also, if the ืจืžื‘"ื would want to put two ืžืฉื™ื—'s just to tell us that there was a ืžืฉื™ื— before, who do you think he should have put? If I would write the ืจืžื‘"ื, I would put ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื•, because ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื• did exactly what ืžืฉื™ื— is going to do. ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื• took the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ out of ื’ืœื•ืช. But who is ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื•? ืžืฉื” ืจื‘ื™ื ื•
