Likkutei Sichos: Vayechi 1, Chelek 15

LIKKUTEI SICHOS: VOLUME 15

A second Likkutei Sichos class on Parshas Vayechi exploring the unusual lack of a paragraph break before 'Vayechi Yaakov,' and why covering up the end conceals a future redemption yet to be revealed.

Likkutei Sichos: Chanukah - Haneiros Halalu, Chelek 15 (Part 1)

LIKKUTEI SICHOS: VOLUME 15

Defines the three-way distinction between a yeshuah (a natural win that still needed Hashem's help), a nes (winning against odds nature can't explain), and niflaos (something in between, not outright miraculous but too striking to call ordinary), and shows that Chanukah's own events unfolded as yeshuos, then nissim, then niflaos, while "l'hodos ul'halel" thanks Hashem in the reverse order. Includes a sharp aside on the Satmar Rebbe's sefer denying that the Six-Day War was a nes, and the Rebbe's retort invoking Dr. Kastner. Closes by tracing "peleh" language through Yud-Tes Kislev's release, the future geulah's "nifla'os," and the same three-part structure inside Modim and Nishmas Kol Chai.

Likkutei Sichos: Chanukah - Haneiros Halalu, Chelek 15 (Part 2)

LIKKUTEI SICHOS: VOLUME 15

Picks up the Beis Yosef's famous question — if the oil lasted one day naturally, Chanukah's real nes was only seven days, not eight — and resolves it through the Sha'iltos of Rav Achai Gaon's variant text, where the jar didn't have enough oil for even a single day. Layers in the Sefas Emes's explanation for why the oil bore the Kohen Gadol's own seal: it wasn't Menorah oil at all, but his personal supply for the daily minchas chavitin, which is why the amount fell short. Returns to the sicha to explain why we thank Hashem for nissim before niflaos despite the reverse historical order, touching on Hashem's deliberate design that even open miracles like Krias Yam Suf leave room to explain them away naturally.
