The 诪砖谞讛 says, 讗祝 注诇 驻讬 砖讛讜讗 谞讜转谉 诇讜, even though he pays for the injury that he caused, 讗讬谉 谞诪讞诇 诇讜 注讚 砖讬讘拽砖 诪诪谞讜, he is not forgiven until he asks pardon from the person that he injured. 砖谞讗诪专, as the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜注转讛, and now, 讛砖讘 讗砖转 讜讙讜壮, you should return the wife of the man. This is a 驻住讜拽 in 讞讜诪砖 concerning the story of 讗讘讬诪诇讱 and 讗讘专讛诐. That when 讗讘专讛诐 came with 砖专讛 to the country of 讗讘讬诪诇讱, and 讗讘讬诪诇讱 asked, who is this woman? And he said, she is my sister. And 讗讘讬诪诇讱 took her away, and that night, before he had the chance to do anything, 讛砖诐 revealed Himself to 讗讘讬诪诇讱 in a dream, and He said to him that, how did you take this woman away? She is a married woman. And 讗讘讬诪诇讱 answered, I didn't know because I was told she was only his sister. So 讛砖诐 said to 讗讘讬诪诇讱, and now return this wife of the man to the man, and he will pray for you, and you will be forgiven. So we see from here that 讛砖诐 wanted 讗讘讬诪诇讱 to be the one to ask 讗讘专讛诐 to pray for him. Because otherwise, 讛砖诐 Himself could have said to 讗讘专讛诐, now you pray for him, and you forgive him. And since 讛砖诐 said to 讗讘讬诪诇讱 that you return the wife to the man and you see that he 讚讗讜讜谞住 for you, so that shows that a person is obligated to ask 诪讞讬诇讛, to ask pardon from the one that he caused the harm. And it's not enough just to pay for the damage, as in this case where he just would have returned the wife of 讗讘专讛诐 to 讗讘专讛诐, but he also was supposed to ask him to 讚讗讜讜注谉 for him. So that shows that even after you pay, you still must ask for pardon. Then the
诪砖谞讛 continues, 讜诪谞讬讬谉, and how do we know, 砖讗诐 诇讗 诪讞诇 诇讜, that if the person did not forgive him, 砖讛讜讗 讗讻讝专讬, but he is considered a cruel person? In other words, after the injured person asks for forgiveness, so the other person should forgive him, and if he doesn't, he is considered a cruel man, how do we know that? 砖谞讗诪专, the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讬转驻诇诇 讗讘专讛诐 讗诇 讛讗诇拽讬诐, and 讗讘专讛诐 讚讗讜讜注谞讟 to 讛砖诐, 讜讬专驻讗 讗诇拽讬诐 讗转 讗讘讬诪诇讱 讜讙讜壮, and 讛砖诐 cured 讗讘讬诪诇讱, and as the 驻住讜拽 continues, his wife and his maids, 讜讬诇讚讜, and they gave birth. So we see from here that if 讗讘专讛诐 would not have forgiven him, and would have not have 讚讗讜讜注谞讟 for him, so then they wouldn't have been cured. So we see how cruel it is if a person doesn't forgive somebody else, because if he doesn't forgive, then that could cause that the other person should be sick. Then the 诪砖谞讛 continues, 讛讗讜诪专, if someone says to someone else, 住诪讗 注讬谞讬, blind my eye, 拽讟注 讗转 讬讚讬, knock off my hand, chop off my hand, 砖讘专 讗转 专讙诇讬, break my foot, and the person does it, 讞讬讬讘, he is still 讞讬讬讘 to pay, and he can't claim, well, you told me to do it, because he still wasn't allowed to do it, and if he did it, he is obligated to pay. And this 讚讬谉 is even if he tells him 注诇 诪谞转 诇驻讟讜专. When the first man says to the second, blind my eye or chop off my hand or break my foot on condition that you will be 驻讟讜专, still 讞讬讬讘, he is still obligated to pay. But if he says to him, 拽专注 讻住讜转讬, tear my garment, 砖讘专 讗转 讻讚讬, break my jug, so then he is 讞讬讬讘. If he does it, he is obligated to pay. But if the
owner of these objects said to him, do it 注诇 诪谞转 诇驻讟讜专, on condition that you will be 驻讟讜专, so then the 讚讬谉 is 驻讟讜专. Because there is a difference between asking him to injure the body of the person or asking him to cause damage to the belongings of the person, and the 讙诪专讗 will explain what is actually the difference. Then the 诪砖谞讛 continues, if he says to him, 注砖讛 讻谉 诇讗讬砖 驻诇讜谞讬, do this to that man, in other words, 专讗讜讘谉 would say to 砖诪注讜谉, do this to a third person, to 诇讜讬, 注诇 诪谞转 诇驻讟讜专, even if he says do it on condition that you will be 驻讟讜专, in other words, I take responsibility that you will not be 讞讬讬讘, nevertheless, 讞讬讬讘, he is still 讞讬讬讘 if he does it. And in this case it is 讘讬谉 讘讙讜驻讜, 讘讬谉 讘诪诪讜谞讜, whether he says do it to his body or he says do it to his belongings, he still is 讞讬讬讘. The difference between telling him to do it to the body or to the belongings, that in the case of the body he is 讞讬讬讘 and in the case of the belongings he is 驻讟讜专, as we said before, is only if he says do it to me. But if he says do it to somebody else, in all cases, he is 讞讬讬讘 to pay. Now we
will learn the 讙诪专讗. 转谞讜 专讘谞谉, the 专讘谞谉 learned, 讻诇 讗诇讜 砖讗诪专讜, all these amounts of money that we said in the previous 诪砖谞讛, 讚诪讬 讘讜砖转讜, that's only the value of his embarrassment. And this refers to the previous 诪砖谞讛 where it said that if you give someone a slap, you have to give him 200 讝讜讝. If you do it with the back of your hand, you have to give him 400 讝讜讝. If you pull his ear, or pull out his hair, or spit and the spit reaches him, or you take off his garment, or you uncover the head of a woman, you have to give 400 讝讜讝. So all this is only payment for the 讘讜砖转, payment for the embarrassment. 讗讘诇 爪注专讜, but regarding the hurt that came to the feelings of the person, 讗驻讬诇讜 讛讘讬讗 讻诇 讗讬诇讬 谞讘讬讜转 砖讘注讜诇诐, so even if he would bring all the rams of 谞讘讬讜转 in the world, which are good rams, 讗讬谉 谞诪讞诇 诇讜, it wouldn't be forgiven to him 注讚 砖讬讘拽砖 诪诪谞讜, until he would actually ask him to forgive him. 砖谞讗诪专, as the 驻住讜拽 says, 讛砖讘 讗砖转 讛讗讬砖, that 讛砖诐 said to 讗讘讬诪诇讱, return the wife of the man 讻讬 谞讘讬讗 讛讜讗, because he is a prophet, 讜讬转驻诇诇 讘注讚讱, and he will 讚讗讜讜注谉 for you. So we see here that 讛砖诐 wanted 讗讘讬诪诇讱 to see that 讗讘专讛诐 should 讚讗讜讜注谉 for him. In other words, 讗讘讬诪诇讱 should be the one to ask him for his forgiveness. So we see that when you hurt somebody, in addition to paying, you must ask for his forgiveness. And then the
讙诪专讗 just explains the 驻住讜拽. He said, return the wife of the man because he is a 谞讘讬讗, he is a prophet. So the 讙诪专讗 asks, 讚讗砖转 谞讘讬讗 讘注讬 讗讛讚讜专讬, because he's the wife of a prophet, that's why he's supposed to return, 讗砖转 讗讞专 诇讗 讘注讬 讗讛讚讜专讬, if she would have been the wife of someone else, not of a prophet, he wouldn't have to give back? So what did 讛砖诐 mean, return the wife of the man because the man is a prophet? The 讙诪专讗 answers, 讗诪专 专讘 砖诪讜讗诇 讘专 谞讞诪谞讬 讗诪专 专讘讬 讬讜谞转谉, Reb Shmuel bar Nachmeni said in the name of Reb Yonasan, that first 讛砖诐 said 讛砖讘 讗砖转 讛讗讬砖 诪讻诇 诪拽讜诐, return the wife of the man on all conditions, it makes no difference who he is, you must return her. Then 讛砖诐 continued and said 讜讚拽讗诪专转, that you said, first 讗讘讬诪诇讱 had excused himself to 讛砖诐 and he said that 讛讙讜讬 讙诐 爪讚讬拽 转讛专讜讙, when 讛砖诐 said to 讗讘讬诪诇讱, what did you do? You really deserve to be put to death. So 讗讘讬诪诇讱 had answered 讛砖诐 that will you kill a 爪讚讬拽 together with somebody who deserves to die? Because it's not my fault. 讛诇讗 讛讜讗 讗诪专 诇讬 讗讞讜转讬 讛讬讗, didn't he say to me that she is his sister? 讜讛讬讗 讙诐 讛讬讗 讗诪专讛 讗讞讬 讛讜讗, and she also said on 讗讘专讛诐 he is my brother. So you can't blame me for doing it. So for that excuse, 讛砖诐 said to him, 谞讘讬讗 讛讜讗, he is a 谞讘讬讗, 讜讻讘专 诇讬诪讚, he already taught, through his actions and through his words he already taught the world that 讗讞住谞讗讬 砖讘讗 诇注讬专, that if a guest comes to a city, 注诇 注住拽讬 讗讻讬诇讛 讜砖转讬讛 砖讜讗诇讬诐 讗讜转讜, do you ask him concerning eating and drinking, 讗讜 注诇 注住拽讬 讗砖转讜 砖讜讗诇讬诐 讗讜转讜, or do you ask him concerning his wife, whether 讗砖转讱 讛讬讗, is she your wife, 讗讞讜转讱 讛讬讗, is she your sister? You don't do that. And 讗讘专讛诐 taught the world already how to act. And that's what he meant when he said that 讗讘专讛诐 is a 谞讘讬讗. In other words, your excuse is no excuse. Since he is a 谞讘讬讗, he's such a great man that taught the world how to act, so you should have learned from him and known that you have no right to ask him whether it's his wife or his sister. So what kind of excuse do you have that it's not your fault because he said that she is his sister? You had no right to ask him about that to begin with, as he already have taught the world because he is a 谞讘讬讗. And the 讙诪专讗 says 诪讻讗谉, from here we know 诇讘谉 谞讞, concerning a 讙讜讬, 砖谞讛专讙, that he would get killed in a case 砖讛讬讛 诇讜 诇诇诪讜讚 讜诇讗 诇诪讚, where he should have learned and didn't learn. If a 讙讜讬 does something wrong, he doesn't keep one of the seven 诪爪讜转 that he is obligated to keep, and his excuse is that he didn't learn, but if it's a case where he could have learned, so then it's no excuse, and he would be punished even in the case where he didn't know, because where he should have known, so ignorance of the law is no excuse. As we see here that his excuse was that he thought she was his sister because 讗讘专讛诐 said that she was his sister, and 讛砖诐 said that's no excuse, because you already should have learned that this is not the way to act, you don't ask somebody whether she is his sister or his wife. Then the 讙诪专讗 continues to 讚专砖谉 the 驻住讜拽讬诐 that the 转讜专讛 says concerning 讗讘讬诪诇讱 and 讗讘专讛诐. And the 驻住讜拽 says there, after it says that 讛砖诐 cured 讗讘讬诪诇讱 and his wife and his maids, 讜讬诇讚讜, and they gave birth, so the 驻住讜拽 says, why did 讛砖诐 have to cure, because they were sick. What was their sickness? But the 驻住讜拽 says 讻讬 注爪专 注爪专 讛砖诐, that closed, closed 讛砖诐, and the 驻住讜拽 continues 讘注讚 讻诇 专讞诐 诇讘讬转 讗讘讬诪诇讱, all the wombs in the household of 讗讘讬诪诇讱. So the 驻住讜拽 says here twice the word 注爪专, meaning he closed, he closed all the wombs. So 讗诪专 专讘讬 讗诇注讝专, Rebbe Elazar said, 砖转讬 注爪讬专讜转 讛诇诇讜 诇诪讛, why does the 转讜专讛 have to mention two times closing? The answer is 讗讞转, one is 讘讗讬砖, concerning a man, 砖讻讘转 讝专注, that 讛砖诐 closed up the man that he couldn't give out 砖讻讘转 讝专注, the semen. 砖转讬诐, there were two closings 讘讗砖讛 concerning a woman: 砖讻讘转 讝专注, the semen that went into her couldn't go out, 讜诇讬讚讛, also birth, it was closed that she couldn't give birth. 讘诪转谞讬转讗 转谞讗, but in the 讘专讬讬转讗 we learned: 砖转讬诐 讘讗讬砖, that in the man there were two closings: 砖讻讘转 讝专注, the 讝专注 couldn't come, 讜拽讟谞讬诐, and he couldn't urinate; 讜砖诇砖讛 讘讗砖讛, and three closings in the woman: 砖讻讘转 讝专注, the 讝专注 that came into her wouldn't come out, 讜拽讟谞讬诐, and the urination, and 讜诇讬讚讛, and the giving of birth. 专讘讬谞讗 讗诪专, 专讘讬谞讗 says: 砖诇砖 讘讗讬砖, three closings in the man: 砖讻讘转 讝专注, the 讝专注 wouldn't come, 讜拽讟谞讬诐, and to urinate, 讜驻讬 讟讘注转, they couldn't give it out their waste; 讜讗专讘注 讘讗砖讛, and four closings by a woman: 砖讻讘转 讝专注, the 讝专注 wouldn't come out, 讜诇讬讚讛, she couldn't give birth, 讜拽讟谞讬诐, and she couldn't urinate, 讜驻讬 讟讘注转, she couldn't give out the waste that's supposed to come out. And when 讗讘专讛诐 was 诪转驻诇诇, davened for them, 讛砖诐 opened up all these closed things and then they were able to act normally again. Then the 讙诪专讗 explains the words of the 驻住讜拽, 讘注讚 讻诇 专讞诐, that 讛砖诐 closed up every womb, 讗诪专讜 讚讘讬 专讘讬 讬谞讗讬, so they said in the 讬砖讬讘讛 of 专讘讬 讬谞讗讬, that it means every womb, 讗驻讬诇讜 转专谞讙讜诇转 砖诇 讘讬转 讗讘讬诪诇讱, even the chicken of the house of 讗讘讬诪诇讱 诇讗 讛讟讬诇讛 讘讬爪转讛, didn't give their eggs. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬: 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 专讘谞谉, from where do we know this that the 专讘谞谉 said, what is the source of this statement of the 专讘谞谉 that 讻诇 讛诪讘拽砖 专讞诪讬诐 注诇 讞讘讬专讜 讜讛讜讗 爪专讬讱 诇讗讜转讜 讚讘专, anybody who asks for mercy by 讛砖诐 for a friend and he himself, the one that's asking, also needs the same thing, 讛讜讗 谞注谞讛 转讞诇讛, he will be answered first. That when he davens for his friend that 讛砖诐 should help him in a certain thing, if he is in need of the same thing, 讛砖诐 will answer him first. And the 驻砖讟讜转 the reason is because he expresses his 讗讛讘转 讬砖专讗诇, that even though he needs it, nevertheless he cares about his friend more than about himself, so that itself is a reason that 讛砖诐 should help him first because of he is expression of the 诪爪讜讛 of 讗讛讘转 讬砖专讗诇. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said: Where do we know this from? 讚讻转讬讘, it says: 讜讛壮 砖讘 讗转 砖讘讜转 讗讬讜讘, that 讛砖诐 returned the returning of 讗讬讜讘, meaning 讛砖诐 changed the fortune of 讗讬讜讘, 讘讛转驻诇诇讜 讘注讚 专注讛讜, when he davened for his friend. So we see that when he davened for his friend, he got it first. And how do we know that it came to him first? Because it says 讜讛壮 砖讘, 砖讘 is past tense, that He already had returned to him, in other words that it has already changed to him before 讛砖诐 listened to his 转驻诇讛 to change the fortune of his friend. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him: 讗转 讗诪专转 诪讛转诐, you say that you know it from there, 讜讗谞讗 讗诪讬谞讗 诪讛讻讗, I say that I know it from here, from a different 驻住讜拽. It says 讜讬转驻诇诇 讗讘专讛诐 讗诇 讛讗诇拽讬诐, that 讗讘专讛诐 davened to 讛砖诐, 讜讬专驻讗 讗诇拽讬诐 讗转 讗讘讬诪诇讱 讜讗转 讗砖转讜 讜讗诪讛讜转讬讜 讜讙讜壮, and 讛砖诐 cured 讗讘讬诪诇讱 and his wife and his maids, etc., 讜讻转讬讘, and right after it it says: 讜讛壮 驻拽讚 讗转 砖专讛 讻讗砖专 讗诪专 讜讙讜壮, and 讛砖诐 remembered 砖专讛 as He said, and 讛砖诐 made 砖专讛 give birth to a son. So the 驻砖讜讟 驻砖讟 is 讻讗砖专 讗诪专, as He said, as 讛砖诐 said, that 讛砖诐 had originally promised that 砖专讛 would have a son, so now 讛砖诐 remembered 砖专讛 and He did to her as He had said previously. But the 讙诪专讗 here 讚专砖'住 讻讗砖专 讗诪专 讗讘专讛诐 注诇 讗讘讬诪诇讱, it means as 讗讘专讛诐 said, not as 讛砖诐 said, but as 讗讘专讛诐 said. As 讗讘专讛诐 said concerning 讗讘讬诪诇讱, that's what happened to 砖专讛. In other words, since 讗讘专讛诐 davened for 讗讘讬诪诇讱 that 讛砖诐 should open up the wombs of the family of 讗讘讬诪诇讱, so 讛砖诐 listened to him concerning 讗讘专讛诐 himself, that 讛砖诐 opened 砖专讛's womb and she gave birth to a child. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬: 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, from where do we know this thing that people say: 讘讛讚讬 讛讜爪讗 诇拽讬 讻专讘讗, that together with the thorns, the cabbage is hurt. If you have thorns and cabbage growing together, so when you try to pull out the thorns to get rid of them, sometimes you get rid of some of the cabbage, too. In other words, that when the bad are hurt, so along with them sometimes the good are also hurt. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him: 讚讻转讬讘, there's a 驻住讜拽 that says: 诇诪讛 转专讬讘讜 讗诇讬 讻讜诇讻诐 驻砖注转诐 讘讬 谞讗诐 讛壮. Why do you all argue with Me? You all sinned against Me, 讛砖诐 says. And when He said that, it seemed as if He was saying it to the 谞讘讬讗, too. So He included the 谞讘讬讗 together with the people who sinned, or as the 诪讛专砖状讗 explains, that He didn't actually mean the 谞讘讬讗, but He included the good people together with the bad people. So we see that together with the bad, sometimes the good also suffer. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said To him, 讗转 讗诪专转 诪讛转诐, you say you know it from there, 讜讗谞讗 讗诪讬谞讗 诪讛讻讗, I say I know it from an earlier 驻住讜拽, a 驻住讜拽 in 讞讜诪砖. It says, 注讚 讗谞讛 诪讗谞转诐 诇砖诪讜专 诪爪讜转讬 讜转讜专讜转讬, that how long won't you want to listen to my 诪爪讜转 and my 转讜专讛? 讛砖诐 said this to 诪砖讛 and 讗讛专谉 concerning the 诪谉. When 讛砖诐 gave them the 诪谉 in the desert, he said that they shouldn't leave anything over for the next day, and there were a few bad people who did, so 讛砖诐 said to 诪砖讛 and 讗讛专谉, how long will it be that you don't want to listen and keep my 诪爪讜转 and my 转讜专讛? So it's as if he included 诪砖讛 and 讗讛专谉 amongst those that didn't want to listen to 讛砖诐. So here too we see that when things are done to the bad, the good sometimes are included also. Or as the 诪讛专砖"讗 says that it doesn't mean 诪砖讛 and 讗讛专谉, it means the 爪讚讬拽讬诐 amongst the 讗讬讚谉, because only a few people were bad concerning the 诪谉, and nevertheless 讛砖诐 said it in a very general way that all of you don't want to listen to me, including the 爪讚讬拽讬诐. So we see that the 爪讚讬拽讬诐 sometimes are punished together with the 专砖注讬诐. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 讻转讬讘, the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜诪拽爪讛 讗讞讬讜 诇拽讞 讞诪砖讛 讗谞砖讬诐, that some of his brothers he took five people. This is when the brothers of 讬讜住祝 came down to 诪爪专讬诐 in the time of the hunger, so 讬注拽讘 and his sons moved to 诪爪专讬诐. So 讬讜住祝 took some of his brothers and brought them in front of 驻专注讛 to show them who his brothers are. So it says some of his brothers he took, only five people. 诪讗谉 谞讬谞讛讜 讞诪砖讛, which are the five that he took? 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讛讻讬 讗诪专 专讘讬 讬讜讞谞谉, this is what 专讘讬 讬讜讞谞谉 said, 讗讜转谉 砖讛讜讻驻诇讜 讘砖诪讜转, those that were repeated in their names in the 讘专讻讛 of 诪砖讛. 诪砖讛 专讘讬谞讜 blessed all the 砖讘讟讬诐 as we find it in 驻专砖转 讘专讻讛, so we find six 砖讘讟讬诐 that their names were repeated. And the reason they were repeated because they were the weakest of them all, and therefore he had to give them 讞讬讝讜拽, he had to strengthen them, so he mentioned their name twice. So those five that their names were repeated, meaning those five that were the weakest, those were the ones that 讬讜住祝 brought in front of 驻专注讛. And the reason why he 讚讜拽讗 took these is because if he would take the strong ones, he was afraid that 驻专注讛 would want to use them for officers in his own army being that they were so strong, so he took the weakest so 驻专注讛 shouldn't do that. And these five were 讚谉, and 讝讘讜诇讜谉, 讙讚, 讗砖专, and 谞驻转诇讬. And the sixth one that was also mentioned twice in the 讘专讻讛 of 诪砖讛 was 讬讛讜讚讛. But 讬讛讜讚讛 definitely wasn't taken because he definitely wasn't from the weakest, as we all know that 讬讛讜讚讛 was from the strongest. So the 讙诪专讗 asks, 讬讛讜讚讛 谞诪讬 讬讻驻讜诇讬 诪讬讻驻诇, isn't 讬讛讜讚讛's name also mentioned twice, but he definitely wasn't from the weakest? 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 诇诪讬诇讬讛 讛讜讗 讚讬讻驻诇, for his own reason, for his own thing his name was repeated. 讚讗诪专 专讘讬 砖诪讜讗诇 讘专 谞讞诪谞讬 讗诪专 专讘讬 讬讜谞转谉, because 专讘讬 砖诪讜讗诇 讘专 谞讞诪谞讬 said in the name of 专讘讬 讬讜谞转谉, 诪讗讬 讚讻转讬讘, what is the meaning in the 驻住讜拽, and this is a 驻住讜拽 in the 讘专讻讛 of 诪砖讛, when he said 讬讞讬 专讗讜讘谉 讜讗诇 讬诪讜转, let 专讗讜讘谉 live and not die, 讜讬讛讬 诪转讬讜 诪住驻专, because his men will be few. And right after that it says, 讜讝讗转 诇讬讛讜讚讛, and this is for 讬讛讜讚讛, and he continued with the 讘专讻讛 for 讬讛讜讚讛, so we see a connection between 专讗讜讘谉 and 讬讛讜讚讛, what did 诪砖讛 mean with that? So it is because 讻诇 讗讜转谉 讗专讘注讬诐 砖谞讛 砖讛讬讜 讬砖专讗诇 讘诪讚讘专, all forty years that the 讗讬讚谉 were in the desert, 讛讬讜 注爪诪讜转讬讜 砖诇 讬讛讜讚讛 诪讙讜诇讙诇讬谉 讘讗专讜谉, so the bones of 讬讛讜讚讛 were mixed, were not connected in his coffin, because we know that when the 讗讬讚谉 left 诪爪专讬诐, they took along the bones of all the twelve 砖讘讟讬诐. Even though it's not mentioned clearly in the 转讜专讛, but the 转讜专讛 does hint to it. It says in 驻专砖转 讘砖诇讞 that before the 讗讬讚谉 left from 诪爪专讬诐, 诪砖讛 took the bones of 讬讜住祝 because 讬讜住祝 had commanded and he said that when you leave 诪爪专讬诐, you should take my bones 讗转讻诐, with you. So we 讚专砖谉 讗转讻诐, with you meaning with your bones, that the bones of all the 砖讘讟讬诐 were taken. And the reason the 转讜专讛 only mentions the bones of 讬讜住祝 is to teach us the greatness of 诪砖讛, that at the time when all the 讗讬讚谉 were involved in taking the 讘讬讝讛, in getting the money from the 诪爪专讬诐, 诪砖讛 was involved in a 诪爪讜讛 in taking out the bones of 讬讜住祝. But nevertheless we see that all the bones of all the 砖讘讟讬诐 were taken out of 诪爪专讬诐. So the bones of 讬讛讜讚讛 were taken out of 诪爪专讬诐 too. But nevertheless the 讙诪专讗 says that the bones were not in place. The skeleton of the bones of 讬讛讜讚讛 were all not fit in place, and the reason for that was because 讬讛讜讚讛 himself took upon himself 谞讬讚讜讬, he put himself into 讞专诐, into excommunication. Because when 讬注拽讘 wanted them to go down to 诪爪专讬诐 the second time, and they said they cannot go unless they take 讘谞讬诪讬谉 because the man, meaning 讬讜住祝, told them they shouldn't come back unless they bring 讘谞讬诪讬谉, and 讬注拽讘 was afraid to send 讘谞讬诪讬谉, so 讬讛讜讚讛 said From both worlds, I will be excommunicated from both worlds, from this world and from the world to come. And even though the condition was fulfilled, he only said that if he will not bring him back, but he really did bring him back, but nevertheless, we know a rule that if a 讞讻诐, a 爪讚讬拽, gives a 拽诇诇讛 or if he causes 谞讬讚讜讬 and excommunication, even if it's on condition, it comes true. So here, too, even though he said that on condition and the condition was fulfilled, nevertheless, it came true. And therefore, since he said on himself that he should be excommunicated, so therefore, all the forty years that his bones were in the desert, they were not in place, 注讚 砖讘讗 诪砖讛 讜讘讬拽砖 专讞诪讬诐, till 诪砖讛 came and he asked 讛砖诐 for mercy. 讗诪专 诇驻谞讬讜, he said to Him, 专讘讜谞讜 砖诇 注讜诇诐, Master of the world, 诪讬 讙专诐 诇专讗讜讘谉 砖讬讜讚讛, who caused 专讗讜讘谉 to admit for his sin? 讬讛讜讚讛, it was 讬讛讜讚讛. Because we find in the 诪讚专砖 that after 讬讛讜讚讛 admitted for his sin, and this refers to the sin that he did with 转诪专, as the 驻住讜拽 says that he said 爪讚拽讛 诪诪谞讬, that she is right, she is
pregnant from me, so he publicly admitted to his sin, so when 专讗讜讘谉 saw him do that, that's when 专讗讜讘谉 admitted to his sin. And that refers to the sin that 专讗讜讘谉 took out 讬注拽讘's bed from the tent of 讘诇讛讛 and put the bed into the tent of his mother 诇讗讛. So when he saw that 讬讛讜讚讛 admitted to his 注讘讬专讛, so he also admitted his 注讘讬专讛. And that is the connection between the two, that right after 讬讞讬 专讗讜讘谉 讜讗诇 讬诪讜转 it says 讜讝讗转 诇讬讛讜讚讛, because that's what 诪砖讛 专讘讬谞讜 was saying, that why did 专讗讜讘谉 admit to his sin? Because 讜讝讗转 诇讬讛讜讚讛, because of 讬讛讜讚讛. So this shows the great 讝讻讜转 of 讬讛讜讚讛. So what he asked 讛砖诐 was 砖诪注 讛' 拽讜诇 讬讛讜讚讛, so 讛砖诐, listen to the voice of 讬讛讜讚讛. And what happened? 注讗诇 讗讬讘专讬讛 诇砖驻讬讛. When that happened, when he said that, 讟讗拽注, all the limbs of the body, of the skeleton, came together. They all were put in their proper place. But 转讜住驻讜转 asks a 砖讗诇讛, that how can we say that who caused 专讗讜讘谉 to do 转砖讜讘讛, 讬讛讜讚讛, when we find in a different 诪讚专砖 where it says and the 驻住讜拽 讜讬砖讘 专讗讜讘谉 讗诇 讛讘讜专, and this is the 驻住讜拽 concerning 讬讜住祝, that when 讬讜住祝 came to his brothers and they wanted to kill him, and 专讗讜讘谉 said, "Let's not kill him, let's throw him in the pit," and they threw him in the pit, and later they sold him, but 专讗讜讘谉 wasn't there when they sold him. So the 转讜专讛 says 专讗讜讘谉 returned to the 讘讜专 and saw that 讬讜住祝 wasn't there, so he was very upset, etc., as the 转讜专讛 continues the story. Where did 专讗讜讘谉 return from? Why wasn't he there? So the 诪讚专砖 says that he returned 诪砖拽讜 讜诪转注谞讬转讜, from his sack and from his fasting, meaning from his doing 转砖讜讘讛 for the 注讘讬专讛 he did. And this story happened before the story of 转诪专. So how can the 讙诪专讗 say that 讬讛讜讚讛, when he admitted on his 注讘讬专讛 with 转诪专, that caused 专讗讜讘谉 to do 转砖讜讘讛, when in this 诪讚专砖 it says that 专讗讜讘谉 did 转砖讜讘讛 much before that? And 转讜住驻讜转 says that the truth is that 专讗讜讘谉 did 转砖讜讘讛 before, but he did his 转砖讜讘讛 privately. When did he admit publicly to his 注讘讬专讛? After he saw 讬讛讜讚讛 admit publicly to his 注讘讬专讛. And that's what 诪砖讛 专讘讬谞讜 said, that since 讬讛讜讚讛 caused 专讗讜讘谉 to admit publicly to his 注讘讬专讛, so that's a big 讝讻讜转 for 讬讛讜讚讛. So why should this happen to 讬讛讜讚讛? So he asked 讛砖诐 that 讛砖诐 should bring his bones back to their place, and that's what happened. The
讙诪专讗 continues, 诇讗 讛讜讜讛 拽讗 诪住拽讬 诇讬讛 诇诪转讬讘转讗 讚专拽讬注讗, but he still could not enter the 讬砖讬讘讛 in Heaven. So he asked 讜讗诇 注诪讜 转讘讬讗谞讜, that 讛砖诐 should bring him to his nation. So 讛砖诐 took him into the 讬砖讬讘讛. But still, 诇讗 讛讜讜讛 讬讚注 诪讗讬 拽讗诪专讬 专讘谞谉, he didn't know what the 专讘谞谉 in the 诪转讬讘转讗 讚专拽讬注讗 were talking about, 讜诇讗 诪讬砖拽诇 讜诪讬讟专讞 讘讛讚讬 专讘谞谉, and he wasn't able to have a discussion with the 专讘谞谉. So that's what 诪砖讛 asked, 讬讚讬讜 专讘 诇讜, that his hands be strong to him. So 讛砖诐 listened to him, and he was able to understand and able to discuss with the 专讘谞谉. But still, 诇讗 讛讜讜讛 住诇讬拽 诇讬讛 砖诪注转讗 讗诇讬讘讗 讚讛讬诇讻转讗, he wasn't able to learn in such a way to come to a conclusion which would fit to the 讛诇讻讛. So 诪砖讛 asked, 讜注讝专 诪爪专讬讜 转讛讬讛, he should be a help from his enemies, meaning from those that argue with him, and he should come with the right conclusion. And 讛砖诐 accepted that, too. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where do we know this thing that people say, 讘转专 注谞讬讗 讗讝诇讗 注谞讬讜转讗, that poverty follows a poor person, that after a poor person there is poverty? The 诪爪讜讛 of 讘讻讜专讬诐 was that the first fruit that grew, you had to bring it to 讬专讜砖诇讬诐. So the rich people, the 诪砖谞讛 says, would bring their 讘讻讜专讬诐 in baskets of gold and silver, 讜注谞讬讬诐, but the poor people would bring them 讘住诇讬 谞爪专讬诐 砖诇 注专讘讛 拽诇讜驻讛, in wicker baskets made out of the bark of a willow. And 讛住诇讬诐 讜讛讘讬讻讜专讬诐 谞讜转谞讬诐 诇讻讛谞讬诐. The poor people would give away to the 讻讛谞讬诐 the baskets with the 讘讬讻讜专讬诐. The rich people would take back their baskets, and the poor people would leave their baskets with the 讻讛谞讬诐 together with the 讘讬讻讜专讬诐. So we see here that the rich people didn't have to give up that much, but the poor people had to give more than the rich. So that shows that when a person is poor, poverty comes along with him. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讗转 讗诪专转 诪讛转诐, you say you know it from there, 讜讗谞讗 讗诪讬谞讗 诪讛讻讗, I say I know it from here from a different 驻住讜拽. The 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讟诪讗 讟诪讗 讬拽专讗, that a 诪爪讜专注, a person who has a 谞讙注, and he's found to be 讟诪讗, he has to stay outside of the 诪讞谞讛. And the 驻住讜拽 says he has to scream, he has to constantly call out, 讟诪讗 讟诪讗. If people pass by, he has to say that he is 讟诪讗. So the 驻砖讜讟注 驻砖讟 is he has to say he is 讟诪讗 so people should stay away from him. Nevertheless, we do see that in addition to the problem he has that he has a 谞讙注, the 转讜专讛 also says that he must publicly announce that he is 讟诪讗. So that shows that if a person has a problem, more problems come along with that.
讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讗 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讗 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 专讘谞谉, where do we take this that the 专讘谞谉 said, 讛砖讻诐 讜讗讻讜诇 讘拽讬抓 诪驻谞讬 讛讞诪讛, get up early, summertime, and eat an early breakfast because of the sun, 讜讘讞讜专祝, in the winter, you should eat an early breakfast 诪驻谞讬 讛爪讬谞讛, because of the cold. And also 讜讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, people say, 砖讬转讬谉 专讛讜讟讬 专讛讜讟, 60 people could chase you, 讜诇讗 诪讟讜, and they won't catch up to you, 诇讙讘专讗 讚诪爪驻专讗 讻专讱, to a person that eats early in the morning. That's how healthy it is to eat breakfast early that 60 people will chase you and won't catch you. And the reason we mention 60, not because there is any meaning in 60, but that's just the expression of 60. But 转讜住驻讜转 brings that 专讘讬谞讜 诪砖讜诇诐 said that the reason we mention 60 is because there are 60 days to each season. There are six seasons in the year, and each season is two months, which is about 60 days. That's why we mention 60. But whatever it is, his question was, from where do we know that it's so important to eat early in the morning? So he said, 转讗 砖诪注, because the 驻住讜拽 says, 诇讗 讬专注讘讜 讜诇讗 讬爪诪讗讜, they won't be hungry and they won't be thirsty, 讜诇讗 讬讻诐 砖专讘 讜砖诪砖, and the heat and the sun will not hit them. So the way he 讚专砖 the 驻住讜拽 was that if 诇讗 讬专注讘讜 讜诇讗 讬爪诪讗讜, if you're not hungry and you're not thirsty, meaning if you eat early in the morning, so then you will be safe from 砖专讘 讜砖诪砖, from the heat. So that is a 专讗讬讛 that it's important to eat early. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讗转 讗诪专转 诪讛转诐, you say you learned it out from there, 讜讗谞讗 讗诪讬谞讗 诪讛讻讗, I say I'll learn it out from here, from a different 驻住讜拽. The 驻住讜拽 says, 讜注讘讚转诐 讗转 讛' 讗诇拽讬讻诐, you should serve 讛砖诐 your God, and the 驻住讜拽 continues there, 讜讘专讱 讗转 诇讞诪讱 讜讗转 诪讬诪讬讱, and He will bless your bread and your water, 讜讛住讬专讜转讬 诪讞诇讛 诪拽专讘讱, and I will take away any sickness from amongst you. So he 讚专砖 the 驻住讜拽 like this: that the first words of the 驻住讜拽 where it says that you should serve 讛砖诐 your God, 讝讜 拽专讬讗转 砖诪注 讜转驻诇讛, that refers to saying 砖诪注 and to davening. When it says 讜讘专讱 讗转 诇讞诪讱 讜讗转 诪讬诪讬讱, that He will bless your bread and your water, 讝讜 驻转 讘诪诇讞, that refers to the bread with the salt, 讜拽讬转讜谉 砖诇 诪讬诐, and a pitcher of water that a person eats in the morning. 讜诪讻讗谉 讜讗讬诇讱, and from then on, 讜讛住讬专讜转讬 诪讞诇讛 诪拽专讘讱, I will take away any sickness from you. So here we see that when you eat the bread with salt and you drink the pitcher of water, if you do that early enough, so 讛砖诐 will take away the sickness. That shows that this is very healthy. 讜转谞讬讗, and we also learned that 诪讞诇讛 讝讜 诪专讛. When it says 讛砖诐 will take away the 诪讞诇讛 from you, the sickness from you, that refers to the gall, that He will give you a healthy gall. 讜诇诪讛 谞拽专讗 砖诪讛 诪讞诇讛? Why is a gall called 诪讞诇讛? 诪砖讜诐 砖砖诪讜谞讬诐 讜砖诇砖讛 讞诇讗讬诐 讬砖 讘讛, because 83 sicknesses can come as a result of the gall. And 诪讞诇讛 讘讙讬诪讟专讬讗 讛讻讬 讛讜讬, the word 诪讞诇讛 is 讘讙讬诪讟专讬讗, the numerical value of the word is 83. 诪 is 40, 讞 is 8, 诇 is 30, 讛 is 5, so together it is 83. And that's what it says, that 讛砖诐 will take away the 诪讞诇讛, He'll take away those possible sicknesses that come from the gall. How will He take it away? What could you do that it should not be there to be taken away? 讜讻讜诇诐, and all these sicknesses, 驻转 讘诪诇讞 砖讞专讬转, if you eat bread and salt in the morning, 讜拽讬转讜谉 砖诇 诪讬诐, and you drink a pitcher of water, 诪讘讟诇谉, it nullifies, it takes this away. So from here we see how important it is to eat in the morning. And the 讙诪专讗 continues,
讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讗 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讗 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 专讘谞谉, where do we know this thing that the 专讘谞谉 said, that 讞讘专讱 拽专讬讬讱 讞诪专讗, if your friend calls you a donkey, 讗讜讻驻讗 诇讙讘讱 诪讜砖, so put on a saddle, meaning that you should admit to him and you should not argue with him. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘, the 驻住讜拽 says, it's a 驻住讜拽 in 驻专砖转 诇讱 诇讱, that when 讛讙专 ran away from 砖专讛, and the 诪诇讗讱 saw her, so the 转讜专讛 says, 讜讬讗诪专, he said, the 诪诇讗讱, the angel said to her, 讛讙专 砖驻讞转 砖专讬, 讛讙专, the maid of 砖专讬, 讗讬 诪讝讛 讘讗转, where are you coming from, 讜讗谞讛 转诇讻讬, and where are you going to? 讜转讗诪专, so she said, 诪驻谞讬 砖专讬 讙讘专转讬 讗谞讻讬 讘专讞转, because of 砖专讬, my mistress, I am running away. So we see that when the 诪诇讗讱 said to her, you are the maid of 砖专讬, so she accepted it, and went along with it, and she also mentioned that 砖专讬 was her mistress, even though she was trying to run away, she was trying to show that she is not her mistress, she wanted to give up the yoke of 砖专讛, nevertheless, since the 诪诇讗讱 said to her, you are the maid of 砖专讬, so she went along with it, and also said, 砖专讬 is my mistress. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where does this thing come from that the people say, 讙谞讜转讗 讚讗讬转 讘讱, if there's anything not so good with you, 拽讚讬诐 讗诪专讛, you say it first, right away when you talk to people, you bring out that 讙谞讜转 that you have in you? 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘 it says, 讜讬讗诪专 注讘讚 讗讘专讛诐 讗谞讻讬. When 讗诇讬注讝专 went to find a wife for 讬爪讞拽, and he found 专讘拽讛, and then he went to 专讘拽讛's house, and he spoke to 讘转讜讗诇 and 诇讘谉, so he started off by saying, I am the slave of 讗讘专讛诐. So he himself said what he is, even though it's not so nice to say that you're a slave, but he that's said it first, he started off that way.
讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where does this come from that people say, 讚砖驻讬诇 讜讗讝讬诇 讘专 讗讜讜讝讗, that even though a duck keeps its head down while it's walking, 讜注讬谞讬讛 诪讟讬讬驻讗, but the eyes are always looking far, meaning to say, as 专砖''讬 explains, that a person should always keep his eyes looking far, meaning that whenever he has something to ask for, he should ask for it, whether it is concerning 驻专谞住讛 that he has to make, or concerning collecting a debt, he shouldn't be ashamed, but he should ask for it. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘 because the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讛讟讬讘 讛' 诇讗讚讜谞讬, and when 讛' will do good to my master, 讜讝讻专转 讗转 讗诪转讱, so you should remember your maid. This was 讗讘讬讙讬诇 talking to 讚讜讚, that she was prophesying that her husband 谞讘诇 would die, so when she spoke to 讚讜讚, she was 诪专诪讝, she hinted to him, that he should remember her beauty, and take her for a wife. So we see here that she wasn't ashamed, and she asked for what she wanted. 60 troubles come to a tooth, 讚拽诇 讞讘专讬讛 砖诪注 讜诇讗 讗讻诇, when you hear the voice of your friend eating and you're not eating yourself. In other words, if you see something good happening to someone else, it causes the person pain, and he is jealous of the other person. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘 the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜诇讬 讗谞讬 注讘讚讱, and to me, your servant. This was 谞转谉 讛谞讘讬讗 speaking to 讚讜讚 讛诪诇讱, when 讗讚讜谞讬讛讜 made a party for a lot of people, and didn't invite certain people who were together with 讚讜讚, so 谞转谉 came to 讚讜讚 and he told him, that me, your servant, 讜诇爪讚讜拽 讛讻讛谉, and to 爪讚讜拽 讛讻讛谉, 讜诇讘谞讬讛讜 讘谉 讬讛讜讬讚注, and to 讘谞讬讛讜 the son of 讬讛讜讬讚注, 讜诇砖诇诪讛 注讘讚讱, and to 砖诇诪讛 your servant, 诇讗 拽专讗, he didn't call. So we see that they felt bad that other people were invited, and they weren't invited. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讗转 讗诪专转 诪讛转诐, you say you know that from that 驻住讜拽, 讜讗谞讗 讗诪讬谞讗, I say 诪讛讻讗, from this 驻住讜拽. The 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讬讘讬讗讛 讬爪讞拽 讛讗讜讛诇讛 砖专讛 讗诪讜, that 讬爪讞拽 brought her into the tent of his mother 砖专讛, meaning he married 专讘拽讛, 讜讬拽讞 讗转 专讘拽讛, and he took 专讘拽讛, 讜转讛讬 诇讜 诇讗砖讛, and she was to him a wife, 讜讬讗讛讘讛, and he loved her, 讜讬谞讞诐 讬爪讞拽 讗讞专讬 讗诪讜, and 讬爪讞拽 was comforted after his mother, he found comfort in his wife after his mother did die. 讜讻转讬讘 讘转专讬讛, and right after that it says, 讜讬讜住祝 讗讘专讛诐 讜讬拽讞 讗砖讛 讜砖诪讛 拽讟讜专讛, that 讗讘专讛诐 added and he took a wife and her name was 拽讟讜专讛. So we see that the reason 讗讘专讛诐 took a wife was because he saw 讬爪讞拽 take a wife. So we see that a person is jealous in someone else who has something that he doesn't have, and therefore he also took a wife, he should also have what 讬爪讞拽 had. Then the 讙诪专讗 continues, 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where does this come from what people say, 讞诪专讗 诇诪专讬讛, 讟讬讘讜转讗 诇砖拽讬讛, that even though the wine belongs to the master, nevertheless, the thanks is given to the butler. The wine belongs to the king, but when the butler brings the wine, he gets the thanks. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘 there's a 驻住讜拽 that says, 讜住诪讻转 讗转 讬讚讱 注诇讬讜, 讛' said to 诪砖讛, you should put your hand on him, meaning on 讬讛讜砖注, 诇诪注谉 讬砖诪注讜 讻诇 注讚转 注讚转 讘谞讬 讬砖专讗诇, in order for all the 讬讬讚谉 should hear. So 讛砖诐 told 诪砖讛 to put his hands on 讬讛讜砖注, 讜讻转讬讘, it says, 讜讬讛讜砖注 讘谉 谞讜谉 诪诇讗 专讜讞 讞讻诪讛, and 讬讛讜砖注 讘谉 谞讜谉 was full of the spirit of 讞讻诪讛, 讻讬 住诪讱 诪砖讛 讗转 讬讚讬讜 注诇讬讜, because 诪砖讛 put his hands on him, 讜讬砖诪注讜 讗诇讬讜 讘谞讬 讬砖专讗诇 讜讙讜诪专, and the 讬讬讚谉 listened to him. So here we see that even though it was 讛砖诐 that told 诪砖讛 to do it, and it was 讛砖诐 that gave 讬讛讜砖注 the spirit of 讞讻诪讛, nevertheless, the 转讜专讛 says that it was given through 诪砖讛. So the thanks was given to 诪砖讛, the credit was given to 诪砖讛, even though it came from 讛砖诐. So here we see that even if someone gives something to somebody else that's not his, he nevertheless gets the credit. That's the way 专砖状讬 learns the 驻砖讟 here. 转讜住驻讜转 learns the 驻砖讟 that what the 讙诪专讗 is saying here, that even though the wine belongs to the master, nevertheless, the credit is given to the butler because the butler gives 讘注讬谉 讬驻讛. He gives really more than really he was expected to give. And the 专讗讬讛 we have is from 诪砖讛 putting the hands on 讬讛讜砖注, because 讛砖诐 said to 诪砖讛, you should put your hand on him, that means one hand. 诇驻讜注诇, 诪砖讛 put two hands on 讬讛讜砖注. So that shows that he, who was the one that was supposed to actually execute what 讛砖诐 said to him, he did it more than 讛砖诐 told him. So we see that you have to give thanks to the one that does it because he does it even more than he is told to do. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where do this come from that people say: 讻诇讘讗 讘讻驻谞讬讛 讙诇诇讬 诪讘诇注, that a dog when he's hungry could even swallow his own waste, or another 驻砖讟, swallow stones. So he said 讚讻转讬讘, because the 驻住讜拽 says, 谞驻砖 砖讘注讛 转讘讜住 谞讜驻转 讜谞驻砖 专注讘讛 讻诇 诪专 诪转讜拽, which means, the soul that is full will eat the honeycomb, and the soul that is hungry, so even something that is bitter will seem to him as sweet. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where did this come from that people say: 诪讟讬讬诇 讜讗讝讬诇 讚讬拽诇讗 讘讬砖讗 讙讘讬 拽讬谞讗 讚砖讬讞讬, that means that a bad palm will usually make its way to a grove of trees that do not give fruit, which means that someone that's bad or something that's bad will find its way among something else that is bad. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讘专 讝讛 讻转讜讘 讘转讜专讛, this thing is written in the 转讜专讛, 砖谞讛 讘谞讘讬讗讬诐, repeated in the 谞讘讬讗讬诐, 讜诪砖讜诇砖 讘讻转讜讘讬诐, mentioned a third time in the 讻转讜讘讬诐, 讜转谞谉 讘诪转谞讬转讬谉, and we also learned it in the 诪砖谞讛, 讜转谞讬谞讗 讘讘专讬讬转讗, and it's also learned in a 讘专讬讬转讗. 讻转讜讘 讘转讜专讛, where is this written in the 转讜专讛? 讚讻转讬讘, it says, 讜讬诇讱 注砖讜 讗诇 讬砖诪注讗诇, 注砖讜 went to 讬砖诪注讗诇. So we see that 注砖讜, who was bad, found his place by 讬砖诪注讗诇, who was also bad. 砖谞讛 讘谞讘讬讗讬诐, it's repeated in 谞讘讬讗讬诐, 讚讻转讬讘, it says, 讜讬转诇拽讟讜 讗诇 讬驻转讞 讗谞砖讬诐 专讬拽讬诐, that to 讬驻转讞 gathered empty people, bad people, 讜讬爪讗讜 注诪讜, and they went out with him. So we see that bad is connected to the bad. 诪砖讜诇砖 讘讻转讜讘讬诐, it's mentioned a third time in 讻转讜讘讬诐, 讚讻转讬讘, it says, 讻诇 注讜祝 诇诪讬谞讜 讬砖讻讜谉, and every bird with its kind will rest, 讜讘谞讬 讗讚诐 诇讚讜诪讛 诇讜, and people to the similar ones. So we see that if a person is one way, he will get together with someone else who is the same way as him. 转谞谉 讘诪转谞讬转讬谉, we learn this in a 诪砖谞讛, it's a 诪砖谞讛 in 讻诇讬诐, it says: 讻诇 讛诪讞讜讘专 诇讟诪讗 讟诪讗, anything that's connected to 讟诪讗 is 讟诪讗, 讻诇 讛诪讞讜讘专 诇讟讛讜专 讟讛讜专, anything that's connected to 讟讛讜专 is 讟讛讜专. This refers to the 讚讬谉 of, for instance, a hook that is put into some into a 讻诇讬. There are certain 讻诇讬 注抓, certain wooden 讻诇讬诐, wooden vessels, which are able to be 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛, which are able to become 讟诪讗, and certain 讻诇讬诐 are not able to become 讟诪讗. The difference is whether it is a 驻砖讜讟讬 讻诇讬 注抓 or not. If it is a simple 讻诇讬, a straight 讻诇讬 that doesn't have any walls, it cannot accept anything in it, then it is not able to become 讟诪讗. But if it is a 讻诇讬 that does have walls, it is a 讻诇讬 诇拽讘诇讛, it is a 讻诇讬 which is able to receive things in it and hold things in it, so a 讻诇讬 like that is 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛, does accept 讟讜诪讗讛. Now, if you have hooks that are hooked onto the 讻诇讬诐 on which you would hang an animal to skin it, etc., so then the question would be whether the hook is 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛 or not. So it says, if it is hooked onto a 讻诇讬 which is 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛, then the hook is also 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛. If it's hooked onto a 讻诇讬 which is not 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛, then the hook is also not 诪拽讘诇 讟讜诪讗讛. That is the rule, that whatever is connected to something which can become 讟诪讗 also becomes 讟诪讗, whatever is connected to something that cannot become 讟诪讗 also will not become 讟诪讗. So here we see that two things that are connected are usually similar, and that proves the point that if a person is bad, he will find himself amongst bad, cuz the connection of one to another is usually the same. 讜转谞讬谞讗 讘讘专讬讬转讗, we also learned this in a 讘专讬讬转讗, it says, 专讘讬 讗诇讬注讝专 讗讜诪专, 专讘讬 讗诇讬注讝专 says, 诇讗 诇讞谞诐 讛诇讱 讛诇讱 讝专讝讬专 讗爪诇 注讜专讘 讗诇讗 诪驻谞讬 砖讛讜讗 诪讬谞讜, that not for nothing did the starling go to the raven, but only because it's its kind. And this was concerning something else that he said, but the meantime we see from there that since it's its own kind, that's why it came to him. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, from where do we know this that people say: 拽专讬 讞讘专讱 讜诇讗 注谞讱, if you called your friend, you tried to give him rebuke, 诪讜住专, and he didn't answer you, he didn't listen to you, so 专诪讬 讙讜讚讗 or 讚讜讞讬 讙讜讚讗 砖讚讬 讘讬讛, throw a wall down on him. In other words, leave him alone, and now you are not responsible anymore for anything that happens to him. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, where do I know this from? The 驻住讜拽 says: 讬注谉 讟讛专转讬讱 讜诇讗 讟讛专转, because I tried to make you clean and you didn't let yourself become clean, 诪讟讜诪讗转讱, from your 讟讜诪讗讛, 诇讗 转讟讛专讬 注讜讚, you will not become clean again. In other words, I cannot do anything more, now you go ahead on your own way. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, from where do we know this that people say: 讘讬专讗 讚砖转讬转 诪讬谞讬讛 诇讗 转砖讚讬 讘讬讛 拽诇讗, that into a well that you drank from, you should not throw any clod. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, I know this, 讚讻转讬讘 because the 驻住讜拽 says: 诇讗 转转注讘 讗讚讜诪讬 讻讬 讗讞讬讱 讛讜讗, do not tease an 讗讚讜诪讬 because he is your brother, 讜诇讗 转转注讘 诪爪专讬, and do not tease a 诪爪专讬, an Egyptian, 讻讬 讙专 讛讬讬转 讘讗专爪讜, because you were a stranger in his land. So even though they made you all kind of problems, they threw the children to the river, etc., nevertheless, since you were a
stranger in his land, you are, so to speak, like his guest, you drank from the well, meaning you lived there, so therefore you should not tease those people. So that teaches us that if you used something once, something helped you, don't embarrass it, don't do anything against it. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, from where do we know this that people say: 讗讬 讚诇讬转 讚讜专讗 讚诇讬谞讗, if you will help me pick up my burden, I will pick it up, 讜讗讬 诇讗, 诇讗 讚诇讬谞讗, if you will not help me, I will not pick it up. Meaning that it is a nature of a person that he will not take a risk of losing money unless someone else participates together with him. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘 because the 驻住讜拽 says: 讜讬讗诪专 讗诇讬讛 讘专拽, 讘专拽 said to her, 讗诐 转诇讻讬 注诪讬 讜讛诇讻转讬, if you will go with me, I will go, 讜讗诐 诇讗 转诇讻讬 注诪讬 诇讗 讗诇讱, if you will not go with me, I will not go. He said this to 讚讘讜专讛 concerning the war that he wanted to go, so he said: if you will not go with me, I will not go. So here we see the idea that a person wouldn't take a risk unless someone else takes the risk together with him. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, from where do we know this that people say:
讻讚 讛讜讬谞谉 讝讜讟专讬 诇讙讘专讬, when we were small, then we were considered by others as men, 讛砖转讗 讚拽砖讬砖谞讗 诇讚专讚拽讬, now that we got old, we're considered like children. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, we know this because 诪注讬拽专讗 讻转讬讘, first the 转讜专讛 says: 讜讛' 讛讜诇讱 诇驻谞讬讛诐 讬讜诪诐 讘注诪讜讚 注谞谉 诇谞讞讜转诐 讛讚专讱, 讛' went in front of them during the day with the 注诪讜讚 注谞谉, with the pillar of clouds to show them the way, 讜诇讬诇讛 讘注诪讜讚 讗砖 诇讛讗讬专 诇讛诐, at night with the pillar of fire to light it up for them. This was in the beginning, as soon as they left 诪爪专讬诐, it says 讛' Himself went in front of them. 讜诇讘住讜祝 讻转讬讘, and later on it says: 讛谞讛 讗谞讻讬 砖讜诇讞 诪诇讗讱 诇驻谞讬讱, I am sending an angel in front of you, 诇砖诪专讱 讘讚专讱, to guide you in the way. So here we see that in the beginning it says 讛' did it, and later it says that the 诪诇讗讱 went. So that shows that in the beginning you could be considered bigger, and later on you're looked upon as smaller. 讗诪专 诇讬讛 专讘讗 诇专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 专讘讗 said to 专讘讛 讘专 诪专讬, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, from where do we know this that people say:
讘转专 诪专讬 谞讻住讬 爪讘讬 诪砖讬讱, that after a rich man, a person who has a lot of possessions, so fat goes, or chips are there. In other words, if you follow a rich person, you will also get some of it. 讗诪专 诇讬讛, so he said to him, 讚讻转讬讘 the 驻住讜拽 says: 讜讙诐 诇诇讜讟 讛讛讜诇讱 讗转 讗讘专诐 讛讬讛 爪讗谉 讜讘拽专 讜讗讛诇讬诐, that also 诇讜讟 who went along with 讗讘专诐, also he had cattle and tents. And this this is in the 转讜专讛 concerning 讗讘专诐 when he was in 诪爪专讬诐, and 砖专讬 was taken away by 驻专注讛, and later on when she was freed, 驻专注讛 gave 讗讘专诐 a lot of possessions, and then it says that also to 诇讜讟 who went with 讗讘专诐, he also had all these different things. So we see that because he was together with 讗讘专诐 who became rich, he also got these things. Then the 讙诪专讗 says, 讗诪专 专讘 讞谞谉, 专讘 讞谞谉 said: 讛诪讜住专 讚讬谉 注诇 讞讘讬专讜, if someone revokes judgment in the heaven against his friend, he 讚讗讜讜谞住 to 讛' that his friend should be punished, so 讛讜讗 谞注谞砖 转讞讬诇讛, so he is punished first. 砖谞讗诪专, as it says: 讜转讗诪专 砖专讬 讗诇 讗讘专诐, that 砖专讬 said to 讗讘专诐, 讞诪住讬 注诇讬讱, that my wrong may be upon you, 讜讻转讬讘 and it says 讜讬讘讗 讗讘专讛诐 诇住驻讚 诇砖专讛 讜诇讘讻转讛, that 讗讘专讛诐 came to mourn over 砖专讛 and to cry about her. So we see that she died first, so we see that she was punished because she wanted to revoke judgment against 讗讘专讛诐. But 讛谞讬 诪讬诇讬, when is this said? 讚讗讬转 诇讬讛 讚讬谞讗 讘讗专注讗, that he is able to have a judgment down here in this world, in the court, in the 讘讬转 讚讬谉 砖诇 诪讟讛. But if he is not able to, then it doesn't matter if you tried to revoke judgment against him in the heavenly court.
讗诪专 专讘 讬爪讞拽, 专讘 讬爪讞拽 said, 讗讜讬 诇讜 诇爪讜注拽 讬讜转专 诪谉 讛谞爪注拽, woe is to the one that screams more than the one that is being screamed against. That if someone screams to 讛砖诐 against somebody else, so it's worse for him than for the person that he screams against. 转谞讬讗 谞诪讬 讛讻讬, we 讟讗拽注 learned like that in a 讘专讬讬转讗: 讗讞讚 讛爪注拽 讜讗讞讚 讛谞爪注拽 讘诪砖诪注, that the one that screams and the one that is being screamed against, both are included. This refers to the 驻住讜拽 in 驻专砖转 诪砖驻讟讬诐, 拽驻讬讟诇 讻"讘, in beginning from 驻住讜拽 讻"讗, 讻"讘, and 讻"讙. There it says that you should not tease a widow or an orphan. And then the 驻住讜拽 says, 讗诐 注谞讛 转注谞讛 讗讜转讜, so if you will tease him, you will cause him discomfort, 讻讬 讗诐 爪注拽 讬爪注拽 讗诇讬, he's going to scream to me, 砖诪讜注 讗砖诪注 爪注拽转讜, I will hear his screaming. And the 驻住讜拽 says what will happen: 讜讞专讛 讗驻讬, my anger will be there, 讜讛专讙转讬 讗转讻诐 讘讞专讘, I will kill you with the sword, 讜讛讬讜 谞砖讬讻诐 讗诇诪谞讜转, and your wives will be widows, 讜讘谞讬讻诐 讬转讜诪讬诐, and your children will be orphans. So from the 驻砖讜讟 驻砖讟 of the 驻住讜拽, it seems that this is going to happen to the one that is screamed against. So what he said was that 讗讞讚 讛爪注拽 讜讗讞讚 讛谞爪注拽 讘诪砖诪注, that the one that is screaming and the one that is being screamed against, they are both included in this curse. Because the 驻住讜拽 says, 讜讛专讙转讬 讗转讻诐, I will kill you, plural, meaning both of you: the one that screams and the one that's being screamed against. 讗诇讗 砖诪诪讛专讬谉 诇爪讜注拽 讬讜转专 诪谉 讛谞爪注拽, but that 讛砖诐 will punish first the one that is screaming, even before the one that is screamed against. And this fits, as we said before, that by 砖专讛 we see, since she wanted to revoke judgment against 讗讘专讛诐, she was punished first.
讜讗诪专 专讘 讬爪讞拽, also did 专讘 讬爪讞拽 say, 诇注讜诇诐, always, 讗诇 转讛讬 拽诇诇转 讛讚讬讜讟 拽诇讛 讘注讬谞讬讱, let not the curse of an ordinary person be easy in your eyes. Don't think that since he is not a special person, he's an ordinary person, his curse won't have any effect, don't think so. 砖讛专讬 讗讘讬诪诇讱 拽诇诇 诇砖专讛, because we see 讗讘讬诪诇讱 cursed 砖专讛, 讜谞转拽讬讬诐 讘讝专注讛, and it came true in the children of 砖专讛. 砖谞讗诪专, it says and that he said, 讛谞讛 讛讜讗 诇讱 讻住讜转 注讬谞讬诐, let this be to you a covering of the eyes. 讗诪专 诇讛, what he really said to her was, 讛讜讗讬诇 讜讻住讬转 诪诪谞讬, since you covered from me, 讜诇讗 讙讬诇讬转 诇讬 砖讛讜讗 讗讬砖讱, and you didn't reveal that he is your husband, 讜讙专诪转 讗诇讬 讛爪注专 讛讝讛, and you caused all this suffering to me, so 讬讛讬 专爪讜谉, let there be the will of 讛砖诐, 砖讬讛讗 诇讱 讻住讜转 注讬谞讬诐, that you should have covering of the eyes, meaning that you should become blind. 讜谞转拽讬讬诐 讘讝专注讛, and actually was fulfilled in her children, in the child of 砖专讛. 讚讻转讬讘, as it says, 讜讬讛讬 讻讬 讝拽谉 讬爪讞拽, that when 讬爪讞拽 was old, 讜转讻讛讬谉 注讬谞讬讜 诪专讗讜转, so his eyes became dark from seeing, that 讬爪讞拽 became blind. So we see that even though 讗讘讬诪诇讱 was only an ordinary person, nevertheless, his curse came true. A person should always be from those that are persecuted, and not from the persecutors. 砖讗讬谉 诇讱 谞专讚祝 讘注讜驻讜转 讬讜转专 诪转讜专讬诐 讜讘谞讬 讬讜谞讛, because we don't find more persecuted amongst the birds other than the doves and the pigeons. 讜讛讻砖讬专谉 讛讻转讜讘 诇讙讘讬 诪讝讘讞, and yet, the 转讜专讛 allowed only them that they are allowed to be brought as a 拽专讘谉 to the 诪讝讘讞. So we see the specialty of a 谞专讚祝. Concerning what we learned before, that 砖专讛, because she said 讞诪住讬 注诇讬讱, she revoked judgment in heaven against 讗讘专讛诐, she was punished. But 诇讻讗讜专讛 the 讙诪专讗 says that this is only if you could have done it in the 讘讬转 讚讬谉 砖诇 诪讟讛. But if you couldn't do it in the court down here in this world, then you're allowed to scream to 讛砖诐. So then why was 砖专讛 punished? The 转讜住驻讜转 says because in the time of 砖专讛 there was a 讘讬转 讚讬谉 砖诇 诪讟讛. The 讘讬转 讚讬谉 of 砖诐 was in existence, so she could have gone to the 讘讬转 讚讬谉, and instead of that she said 讞诪住讬 注诇讬讱, that's why she was punished. Also concerning what 专讘 讬爪讞拽 said, that 讗讜讬 诇讜 诇爪讜注拽 讬讜转专 诪谉 讛谞爪注拽, that if a person screams, he gets more, more punished than the one that screamed against. And we also learned in the 讘专讬讬转讗: 讗讞讚 讛爪注拽 讜讗讞讚 讛谞爪注拽 讘诪砖诪注, that when the 转讜专讛 says that 讛砖诐 says 讜讞专讛 讗驻讬 讜讛专讙转讬 讗转讻诐, refers to both: to the 爪讜注拽 and to the 谞爪注拽, to the one that screams and to the one that's being screamed against. Not only that, but the one that screams will get punished first. And 专砖"讬 says that we learned that out from the story of 砖专讛 as the 讙诪专讗 mentions earlier. So 转讜住驻讜转 says that 专讘讬谞讜 砖诪讜讗诇 says That in 住驻专讬, there it's written differently, there's a different 讙讬专住讗. It doesn't say 讗讞讚 讛爪讜注拽 讜讗讞讚 讛谞爪注拽, one that screams and the one that's screamed against, but what it says is 讗讞讚 讛爪讜注拽 讜讗讞讚 砖讗讬谞讜 爪讜注拽 讘诪砖诪注, that whether you are screamed against or you are not screamed against, you are nevertheless included. Because the 转讜专讛 says that if you will tease an 讗诇诪谞讛 or a 讬转讜诐, 讛砖诐 says, He will scream to Me and I will listen to his screaming, and therefore I will get angry at you and kill you, is 诪砖诪注 that only if the 讬转讜诐 and 讗诇诪谞讛 will scream against you, that's when 讛砖诐 will punish. But if he won't scream, you won't get punished. So, that's what we say, that 讗讞讚 讛爪讜注拽 讜讗讞讚 砖讗讬谞讜 爪讜注拽 讘诪砖诪注, that whether he screams or not, you will nevertheless get punished. And the reason for that is very simple, because since you did something you weren't supposed to, so what difference does it make whether he screamed against you or not? Since you did what was wrong, 讛砖诐 will punish you nevertheless. And instead of saying at the end of the statement that 讛砖诐 will punish faster the one that screams, rather than the one that is being screamed against, as we had in our 讙讬专住讗, but according to this 讙讬专住讗, at the end the 讙诪专讗 is supposed to say that 讗诇讗 砖诪诪讛专讬谉 诇爪注讜拽 讬讜转专 诪砖讗讬谞讜 爪讜注拽. But why does the 转讜专讛 say that 讛砖诐 will punish you because he will scream? To tell us that if the one that's affected will scream, then 讛砖诐 will punish you faster, but if he doesn't scream, then 讛砖诐 will punish you, but not that fast. And according to this, we do not learn it out from 砖专讛. The way we have our 讙讬专住讗 that it says that 讛砖诐 will punish the one that screams before the one that is being screamed against, so that is learned out from 砖专讛, that since she said 讞诪住讬 注诇讬讱, so therefore she was punished first, she died first. But according to the 讙讬专住讗 of 专讘讬谞讜 砖诪讜讗诇, that all it's telling us is that if you're screamed against, 讛砖诐 will punish you faster than if you're not screamed against, then we don't learn it out from 砖专讛, then we just learn it out from the 驻住讜拽 where the 驻住讜拽 says 讻讬 讗诐 爪注拽 讬爪注拽 讗诇讬. Now it is
worthwhile to mention one thing concerning the whole 讙诪专讗 here, the general attitude of this 讙诪专讗. The 讙诪专讗 here mentions many, many things 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬 that people say, and the 讙诪专讗 asks 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, and where do we know this that the people say? This 讙诪专讗 is a 讬住讜讚, a foundation, in the whole 讗诪讜谞讛 a 讬讬讚 is supposed to have, because we know that everything that's in the world is because of the 转讜专讛 and came as a result of the 转讜专讛. Not only was everything created because of the 转讜专讛, as we know that 专砖状讬 says, brings from 诪讚专砖 in the beginning of 讞讜诪砖, 讘专讗砖讬转, 讘砖讘讬诇 讬砖专讗诇 讜讘砖讘讬诇 讛转讜专讛, that the whole world was created because of the 讬讬讚谉 and because of the 转讜专讛, but more than that, the world was created through the 转讜专讛. As it says in 诪讚专砖, that the 转讜专讛 served as 讚讬驻转专讗讜转 讜驻谞拽住讗讜转, as blueprints to 讛砖诐 to create the world. So, it comes out that the source of creation is the 转讜专讛. And therefore, there can be nothing in the world that doesn't have a source in the 转讜专讛. And that's what the 讙诪专讗 means to ask here, that 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, that since there are sayings of people, which is part of the nature of the world, it must have a source in 转讜专讛. And that's his question, 诪谞讗 讛讗 诪讬诇转讗 讚讗诪专讬 讗讬谞砖讬, where do we know this? What is the source in 转讜专讛 for these statements that the people make? And this also teaches us that whatever is in the world, whatever is in creation, must have a connection to 转讜专讛, since it comes from 转讜专讛. Even though sometimes we do not see how everything comes from 转讜专讛, but the fact is that since the 转讜专讛 were the blueprints to the creation, so everything in creation comes from 转讜专讛, so therefore, whatever happens in the world must have a connection to the 转讜专讛. Sometimes we see it openly and sometimes we have to look hard, but one thing is for sure that everything is for the sake of the 转讜专讛. And therefore, the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘 said that whatever a 讬讬讚 sees or hears in the world, he must use as a lesson in his service of 讛砖诐, because it can't be that this happened in the world and it should not have a connection to the 转讜专讛, to serving 讛砖诐. And since he saw it happen, so obviously this was shown to him also in connection to his service of 讛砖诐. And therefore, he must utilize anything that's there in the world that should help him in his service of 讛砖诐. And if a person really wants, he's always able to see how any happening that comes to his attention is really to help him serve 讛砖诐. As the famous story, that after the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘 gave this statement, one of his famous 转诇诪讬讚讬诐, the 转讜诇讚讜转 讬注拽讘 讬讜住祝, went home and he was thinking about it a lot. And during the time when he was thinking about it, it was in the middle of the winter, he happened to walk outside in the street and he happened to meet up with a parade of 讙讜讬诐 during their 讞讙讗讜转, the 讙讜讬讬砖注 holidays. Since it was in the middle of the winter, they had a custom that they used to make a parade in his city on that day. The parade would go till the river, and since the river was frozen, they would chop out out a cross out of the ice of the river, and they would walk holding that frozen cross and go through the streets of the city. So when the 转讜诇讚讜转 went out of his house, he happened to meet up with this parade, saw them holding the cross that's made of ice. Since he had just learned that anything that happens to you, anything that you see happen in the world, is a lesson in your service of 讛砖诐, so he started thinking what kind of lesson can he take from what he just had seen now. What kind of lesson is there possible to take from seeing 讙讜讬诐 carrying a cross chopped out of the ice? And he couldn't figure it out. So he went away to the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘 and he asked the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘, what does this mean to him? So the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘 says, this is also a lesson to you. This is to show you how a 讗讬讚 is supposed to be warm in his service of 讛砖诐. He's not allowed to let himself cool off, because if you get cold and you freeze, you could even get turned into a cross, into a 爪诇诐. So this shows how important it is constantly to keep the 讜讜讗专注诪拽讬讬讟, the warmth in 讗讬讚讬砖拽讬讬讟. But the reason why he looked upon it as a lesson to him, because he knows that this is part of creation, this is part of nature, and since everything comes from 转讜专讛 and everything is for the sake of 转讜专讛, obviously this is also for the sake of 转讜专讛, for the sake of his service of 讛砖诐. And that's why he went to the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘 to find out what it meant to him, and the 讘注诇 砖诐 讟讜讘 told him that it meant to show him that you always have to be warm in 讗讬讚讬砖拽讬讬讟, not to let yourself get cold and freeze, because then you could even turn into an 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛. And the same applies to anything that happens in the world, that as far as a 讗讬讚 is concerned, it is only to teach him and give him a lesson in how to serve 讛砖诐 better.
