Current Matzav Demands Strong Bitachon

said that because of the matzav we're in now when we require a lot, a lot of bitachon in the Aibershter that He will help us, so we've been learning different inyanim about bitachon the way it's written in chassidut and the Rebbe's Torah. So I want to repeat something that the Rebbe said in a maamar about bitachon, and that was in the maamar of שבת פרשת חוקת-בלק י\"ב תמוז תשי\"ב, which is 1952. The maamar started with the פסוק מי מנה עפר יעקב, and in that maamar the Rebbe explains the inyan of bitachon. And the Rebbe says there is a pasuk that says בטחו בה' עדי עד. You should trust Hashem, have בטחון עדי עד. עדי עד means till עד. עד means till there, which really means you should have bitachon in Hashem till the end. So the Rebbe says from this pasuk it comes out that there are different levels of bitachon. You could have bitachon to a certain degree, and then you could have a bitachon more, and then you could have bitachon all the way to the end, the highest level of bitachon. And the Rebbe goes in this maamar to explain the different levels of bitachon, and the pasuk says you should believe Hashem at the highest level of bitachon, that is the real, real bitachon. And he explains like this: bichlal the bitachon that we have in Hashem that for sure Hashem will fulfill all our requests and give us whatever we want is based, its root is the fact that Hashem loves us. Like the pasuk says אהבתי אתכם אמר ה', Hashem says I love you. And therefore, a Yid has bitachon in Hashem, trusts Hashem, that He will take him out from the problem that he has, and He'll give him everything that he needs. Because Hashem loves me, so Hashem will give everything that I need. But the

Gevurah: The Counterbalancing Attribute

Rebbe says, since the shoresh, the root, the source of this level of bitachon is the fact that Hashem loves us, the ahavah of Hashem, which is a middah, an attribute of love, which is connected to chesed, ahavah and chesed go together, so that's only one attribute. There is an opposite attribute, which is also from the attributes of Hashem, which is gevurah. Like we say לך ה' הגדולה והגבורה והתפארת, גדולה means חסד, והגבורה והתפארת ונצח etc. etc. And gevurah is the opposite of chesed. And therefore, sometimes it's possible that even though Hashem loves us, there's ahavah, there's chesed of Hashem to us, nevertheless there's also gevurah. And maybe the gevurah will hold back from Hashem giving of the hashpaah that we have. Therefore, the Rebbe says, if you have bitachon based on the level of ahavah of Hashem, which is chesed, it's not complete bitachon. Because if you start thinking about it, that takeh Hashem loves us, if He expresses the מדת אהבה, He will give us. But maybe He will not express, He also has a middah of gevurah, and maybe instead middah of gevurah that'll hold back from the hashpaah from coming. So really, the bitachon as much as it's there, it's not really a hundred percent. And then the
