another few weeks. So they would take all their food up, and they would have to finish eating it only in Yerushalayim, they would have to spend time. Hashem wanted that to happen. Why? Because by being in Yerushalayim, seeing Godliness, it would give them koach, and they would takeh be able to come back, and they were completely involved in Hashem. They understood Hashem, they saw Him, they felt Him. So they were completely absorbed, Hashem penetrated into them 100%. But it doesn't mean that the bitul, that they broke themselves for it. They enjoyed it! It was good. It's a high madreigah. In a time of galut, we don't have it. What we do have is that we bend ourselves to Hashem. That means we're going against... that's Hashem, that's in other words a bigger korban. In other words, it's not a sacrifice, you enjoy it. A person who doesn't enjoy it, that's different. They say once somebody came to the Tzemach Tzedek and said he used to come with all asking all kinds of advice, physical advice, spiritual. The guy came with a problem. He says, \"I have a problem. Rabbi, what should I do? Mir vil, mir vilt zich nisht lernen. I don't want to learn. What should I do? I just don't like to learn. I don't want to learn. So what should I do?\" So the Tzemach Tzedek looks at him, says, \"What should I do, that I do want to learn? I have a problem,\" he says. \"I want to learn, so when I learn, I'm not bending my yetzer hara, I'm not breaking myself, I'm not doing it for Hashem. I enjoy it, I love it! I have a problem. You don't like to learn? Oh, that's good! If you don't like to and you're going to learn, you know what that what kind of effort that is? You know what kind of sachar, what kind of zechut you're going to have? I have a problem, I don't know what to do,\" he said. We in galut are on that level. In the time of the Beit HaMikdash, they wanted to learn. So
who's higher, a person who wants to learn and learns a lot, or a person who doesn't like to learn and therefore manages to learn only an hour? Certainly, the guy who learns 10 hours a day is greater. But that hour that this other guy learns is greater bitul for Hashem, because he didn't want to, so he's breaking himself, he's doing it for Hashem. The other guy can learn 10 hours, he's not doing it for Hashem. And that's the maalah we have in ืืื ืืืืืช. So we look at like this: on galut time, we're up the creek, as we say, we have a lot of problems. But at the same time, Hashem says, \"Here you have something special.\" The only thing is, we have to utilize it. We don't want to learn, we don't want to we don't have the desire to do kedushah things and things, so if we stick with that not wanting, that's no good. But if we overcome this yetzer hara and we do it, then we have a higher maalah. But as I always finish off, we say to Hashem, we understand the maalah and it's good, thanks, but no thanks, we had it already, enough. We did it all these years, for 2,000 years, it's time to get finished, and You should bring ืืฉืื ืืืืจื ืืืืื ื, ืืื. ืืื. Father in Heaven, we are Your children, we're davening to You, we're praying to You, we're beseeching You, we're begging You, we're connecting to You like a child to a father. And yet we find that children don't have to beg their parents for food and shelter
