When I was a kid they told me that you say ืขืืื ื ืืื ืืืคืืจ ืืืกืฃ because az men zogt dos nisht. Der Eibershter farlozt, azoy vi men zogt oyf di kinder, ืืื ืืืคืืจ after ืฉืืื ื ืขืฉืจื ืขืืื ื, ืื ืืขื ืืื ืืขื ืฆื ืืืื ืขืจ... Der vort like that in ืขืืื ื, ืขืืื ื came with a ta'anah to the Eibershter: What when is it? It's at the end of the davenen, so everybody says... everybody runs out, yeah, and so he said, because of that, we'll put it in once, not that you should say it, one year we'll make it so chashuv, it'll become such a chashuve tefillah. Put it right in Musaf. But there's a there's a whole joke about it. Yeah. Three Three things came to the Eibershter with a ta'anah: The Aleinu came with a ta'anah, either the ta'anah was everyone spits in it. Yeah. The The cigarette came with a ta'anah: You burn me. Yeah. And the mamzer came with a ta'anah. The Tanya used to say this. What's my What's my fault, why am I a mamzer? So Aleinu, the Eibershter answered, so there's a few a few perushim into this into this joke. One answer is that he put it into the Musaf of Rosh Hashanah. You bow down. Another Another answer they say is that the halachah is every time you come to shul and they say Aleinu, you got to say it. The cigarette, so he answered the Eibershter, you know, because of that, a person wants to be mechabed somebody, he'll give him a cigarette, so it's kavod. The mamzer, he goes, don't worry, you'll go to America, you'll become a president of a shul. Go to America, you'll become a president of a shul. There you go. Okay,
we're holding here in the middle of the Gemara: The ืื ืืืื, we said that the shedim that find themselves in by this tree, the ืื ืืืื, are called ืฉืืื. So the Gemara says, ืืื ืืืื ืืกืืืื ืืืชื, if it's a ืืืื, tree ืืืื that's close to the city, ืื ืคืืชื ืืฉืืชืื ืฉืืื, has at least 60 shedim in it. What's the, if there's 60, and and if it's that's 40, don't get scared. I mean, what's the, If you're gonna write a kameia, you have to write a kameia. If you're gonna, so a tzadik is gonna write a kameia, he has to write a kameia knowing that there are 60, so the kameia should be against 60. Then the Gemara tells a story: ืืืื ืืจ ืืืชื ืืืชื, there was this guard of the city, ืืืืื ืืงืื ืืื ืืืื, he was once standing next to a ืืืื, ืืืื ืกืืื ืืืชื, it was, stuck close to town, ืืื ืื ืฉืืชืื ืฉืืื, so he noticed there are 60 ืฉืืื there, ืืืืกืชืื, and he was in a ืกืื ื. ืืชื ืืืื ืืจืื ื, there came one ืชืืืื ืืื, ืืื ืืืข ืืืืื ืืฉืืชืื ืฉืืื ืืื, he didn't know that ืืืื has 60 ืฉืืื, ืืชื ืืื ืงืืืข, he wrote him a ืงืืืข, ืืื ืฉืืื, he thought it's one ืฉื, so he wrote a ืงืืืข for one ืฉื. ืฉืืข, so this guy heard, ืืงื ืืจืงืื ืืืื, there was a gantze party, the ืฉืืื make a party inside this tree, ืืงื ืืฉืจื ืืื, and this is what they were singing: ืกืืืจื ืืืจ ืื ืฆืืจืื ืืจืื ื, this guy wears a ืกืืืจื like a jacket, like a, like a ืชืืืื ืืื, the special ืกืืืจื he used to wear, ืืืืืงื ื ืืื ืืืจ, but we looked into him, ืืื ืืืข ืืจืื, he doesn't even know how to say a bracha, look who's the guy, he makes himself look like a ืชืืืื ืืื, he's a groiser am ha'aretz, the ืฉืืื were singing, but this guy doesn't know anything, the one that wrote the kameia. ืืชื ืืืื ืืจืื ื, came a different ืชืืืื ืืื, ืืืืข ืืืืื ืืฉืืชืื ืฉืืื ืืื, that he knew that there are 60 ืฉืืื there, ืืชื ืืื ืงืืืข ืืฉืืชืื ืฉืืื, so he wrote him a ืงืืืข for 60 ืฉืืื, ืฉืืข, then he heard, ืืงื ืืืจื, that they were saying to each other, ืคื ื ืืื ื, get out of here. So the ืฉืืื when they got the, when he got the ืงืืืข, they said let's get out of here, and emptied out, because the ืงืืืข worked. Then the
Gemara says, ืงืื ืืจืืจื. There's a ืคืกืืง that says, in ืคืจืฉื, ืคืจืฉืช ืืืืื ื, ืงืื ืืจืืจื. So the Gemara says, ืชืจื ืงืืื ืืื, they're two ืงืื's. ืื ืืงืื ืืืืจื ืืื ืืืชืจ ืืืืจื, one is in the first half of the day, ืืคื ื ืืฆืืจืื, one is after ืฆืืจืื. ืืืงืื ืืืืจื, the one that's first, ืงืื ืืจืืจื ืฉืืื, it's called ืงืื ืืจืืจื. ืืืืื ืื ืืื ืืงืืื, and it looks like a barrel of of of ืืืชื. ืืืชื is a kind of ืืืชื was a kind of dip that they used to have in the time of the Gemara. Was ืืืืืื, made of sour milk with breadcrumbs. So it talks about it, ืกืืึทื, ืืืืืช ืคืกื, ืืืืืช ืืืฅ ืืืฆื, in Gemara Pesachim, so I talked about it, ื ืืืข ืืฉืจ ืืืื, because it's both. ืืืืจ ืื ืืืฉื, and and and they go around like a spoon that mixes the food. ืืืชืจ ืืืืจื, the one that's afternoon, ืงืื ืืฉืื ืฆืืจืื ืฉืืื. ืืืืื ืื ืงืจื ื ืืขืืื, and it looks like a horn of a goat, ืืืืจ ืื ืื ืคืื, and they go around like a sieve. I don't know exactly the difference, but listen.
Abaye was going on a trip, ืืจื ืคืคื ืืืืื ืื, and Rav Pappa stood on his right side, ืืจื ืืื ื ืืจืื ืืจื ืืืืฉืข ืืฉืืืืื, and ืจื ืืื ื ืืจืื ืืจื ืืืืฉืข was on the left side. Abaye noticed that one of these ืฉืืื, ืงืื ืืจืืจื, was coming on the left side. What did he do? ืืืืจืื ืืจื ืืื ื ืืืืื ืื, so he took ืจื ืืื ื ืืจืื ืืจื ืืืืฉืข who was walking on his left side, took him to the right, ืืืืชืืื ืืจื ืคืคื ืืฉืืืืื, and put Rav Pappa on the left. \"Why you put me here? You cared about him and you didn't care about me?\" ืืืจ ืืื, he said, ืืช ืฉืขืชื ืงืืืื ืื. You have a good mazal, you're rich, Rav Pappa, you have a good mazal, so I have more trust that nothing is going to happen to you. It reminded of a story with Reb Mendele Horodoker, you know the story with when the guy put him in front? It's a long story, but the Alter Rebbe, when they came to arrest the Alter Rebbe, the Alter Rebbe asked, called, went out to field, anyway, he called Reb Shmuel Munkes. And he said, \"What do you think I should, run away, hide, or I should give myself up?\" So Reb Shmuel Munkes told him this word and he told him a story. He said, \"I don't understand you, what are you afraid of? Mah nafshach! Zayt ir a Rebbe, so Kayn koyl vet aych nisht nemen, no bullet will hurt you. Zayt ir nisht kayn Rebbe, you deserve it.\" And he said why? Because what kind of right did you have to take away the geshmak of gashmiyus of thousands and thousands of Yidden through your ืฉืืื if you're not a ืจืื? Then he told him a story, that Reb Mendele Horodoker once wanted to get to the Alter Rebbe, to the Maggid, I mean, to his ืจืื, the Maggid, so he hired a wagon driver and he told him he should go fast because he has to get there on time. So they're driving, driving fast with a wagon and horses. They came on top of a mountain, then when they're coming down the mountain, because the horses were going so fast, because Reb Mendele told him to go fast, he couldn't stop them. So the horses went straight down the mountain, straight, couldn't stop, and went straight into the window of a ืคืจืืฅ. The ืคืจืืฅ ran out, saw who saw these Jews there, took out his gun, and wanted to aim. As far as aiming, took the at the ืืขื ืขืืื, took the ืืขื ืขืืื Reb Mendele, and put him in front of himself. And then the guy tried to pull the trigger, his hand froze, and he realized this, so he asked for mechilah, and they whatever, and he said if you promise not to touch any Jews. Okay, and and they went, they continued. Reb Mendele turns around to him, \"What did you do? The guy was going to shoot, why'd you put me in front? He should shoot me?\" He told Reb Mendele, \"This word, mah nafshach! Zayt ir a Rebbe, vet dach kayn koyl nisht nemen, if you're a ืจืื, the bullet, I am not afraid. Zayt ir nisht kayn Rebbe, you deserve to be shot! You keep making, cheating everybody, you lied to everybody.\" Same thing here, he came and put him on The ืฉื was coming, so he put him on the left side, he says, \"Well, what did you put me there for?\" So he said, \"Because you, I know, is going to be good.\" ืืืื ืื ืืืจื ืืืืืืขืจ,
ืืื ืืชืืื ืขื ืฉืืืกืจ ืื, from ืจืืฉ ืืืืฉ ืชืืื till ืฉืืขื ืขืฉืจ ืืชืืื, ืืืื ืฉืืืื, for sure they're in these trees. ืืืื ืืืืื, from then on, ืกืคืง ืฉืืืื ืกืคืง ืื ืฉืืืื, maybe yeah, maybe not. ืืืฉืชืืื ืืืืื ืืืฆืื, they find themselves a lot in the shade of this plant called ืืฆืื. It's a plant that Yehoshua put to make the borders, ืืื ืืฆืฃ ืืจืืืื, that didn't grow an ืืื yet. That's where they hide. ืืืืืื ืืฆืคืจื ืืคื ืื ืืื ืืื ืืจืืืื, and also they hide in the shade in the morning and the evening, where there is something that's not an ืืื high. ืืขืืงืจ ืืืืื ืืืืช ืืืกื, where are they mostly? In the shade of a ืืืช ืืืกื, of a toilet. That's ืืืช ืืืกื. Yeah, but dirt is a ืืงืื ืืืืื, you know, dirt in the ืืืช ืืืกื is used so much for ืขืืืื ืืจื. Huh? The Gemara says on ืืฆืจ of ืกืืืกืชื when Yeah, yeah, yeah. These are three things that will cause you to go blind, or lose your light eyesight, affect your eyesight: ืืื ืืกืจืืง ืจืืฉื ืืืฉ, if you comb your hair while it's dry, ืืื ืืฉืชื ืืืฃ ืืืฃ, and one that drinks wine out of a barrel when it's dripping, you know sometimes you fill up a barrel, and it drips out so you put your, that's no good, ืืืื ืืกืืื ืืกืื ื ืืืจืขื ืชืจืืืื, if you put on your shoes when your feet are wet. Cause blindness? Uh oh. Am I Am I sure? It's in the Gemara. So if you don't have hair, you're already safe. Then the Gemara says, Huh? For shedim, it has to do with with with the shedim. Hashem protects the simple. Most of us don't know about this. Yeah, it says that in the Gemara many times, anything that's ืืกืืจ ืืคื ื ืกืื ื, if ืืฉื ืื ืจืืื, if people don't care and do it, ืฉืืืจ ืคืชืืื ืืฉื, then the Eibershter watches so the Gemara says that. If you
hang up in your house bread hanging from the ceiling in a basket, it's no good, it'll make you poor. If you hang up your bread, the basket, you're hanging up your food, you're hanging up your your support. It's only by bread, ืืื ืืืฉืจื ืืืืืจื, ืคืืืืฉ ืืื ืคืืฉ, meat and fish, ืืืช ืื ืื. There's no problem, ืืืจืืื, that's the normal ืืจื. Then the Gemara says ืคืืจื is is ืฉืืืืื, I don't know you know what what the What? Bran. If you have in the house Bran. It's not ืฉืืืืื, this is ืืืจืกื, ืืืจืกื, I'm sorry. ืกืืืื, what's, bran, yeah. So that's if you have that around your house, it's no good, it could cause you to be poor. ืคืจืืจื ืืืืชื, if you have crumbs around the house, I mean you know, you shouldn't step on crumbs, ืงืฉื ืืขื ืืืชื, it's no good, can make you poor. The mazikim, the shedim are there. So yeah, so Wednesday means the night till till Wednesday. What? They come on Friday night? Yeah. Kind of nerve is that? They're They're chutzpadik. They're very chutzpadik. Huh? Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's why it says people don't, I mean it's Shabbos, they still don't go out in the street. Friday, Wednesday, Tuesday night to Wednesday, that's when the shedim raise havoc more. Friday night also. It says when it's talking about Eretz Yisrael, Hashem will give rain, it says when? When people don't go out in the street. When don't they go out? So Rashi Rashi says Friday night, and the Gemara says Friday night, and Wednesday night, Tuesday night. So Friday night you can understand, maybe people daven, they come home, they don't, why don't they go out Wednesday night? So the joke that people say is why don't they go out Wednesday night? Because it's raining. So come on, it says it says the Eibershter will give you rain in the time when people aren't out. So one of the things is Wednesday night. Why aren't people out? Because it rains. It was a joke, but it says because ืฉืืื are around. The the ืืืื, the ืฉืจ that's ืืืื ื, appointed on food, his name is ื ืงื. Comes from the word ื ืงื, clean. He likes cleanliness, that's gonna be the reason why if you have crumbs around, these things, he doesn't like it. The the the ืืืื ื on ืขื ืืืช, on on poverty, ื ืื is his name. And that's why he doesn't like dirt, so if you're gonna make things dirty Huh? No, in other words, the ื ืงื doesn't like dirt. If you have on top as a cover on the barrel, you put on a plate, no good for being poor. ืืื ืืฉืชื ืืื ืืืกื, if you drink water from that plate, ืงืฉื ืืืจ ืืืกื. It's no good for ืืจ ืืืกื. What's ืืจ ืืืกื? ืืจ ืืืกื Rashi says is ืืืืื ืขืื ืื, also has to do with eyes has to do with eyesight, it's not good for eyesight. Okay, we'll stop here. Yashar koach. Was the was the Maggid was Huh? That's about prayer. Man oh man, Shabbos. Man oh man, Shabbos.
