Onkelos vs Yonatan: Curse or

Onkelos, which means curse, but he says ื•ื—ืœื•ืคื”. ืก'ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ืจื•ืฉืœืžื™ also in the next pasuk says, when it says ื”ืงืœืœื” ืื ืœื ืชืฉืžืขื•, so he says, what does the word ืงืœืœื” mean? ื•ื—ืœื•ืคื™ื”ืŸ, and their turned around, their opposites. It's a bit missing it again. It means curse. So we have to understand what's the difference ืฆื•ื•ื™ืฉืŸ ื“ื™ ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ ืชืจื’ื•ืžื™ื in an explanation of the word ืงืœืœื”. Why is there a difference between these two ืชืจื’ื•ืžื™ื, how they explain, how they translate the word ืงืœืœื”? ื ืืš ืžืขืจ ืื™ื– ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืคืืจืฉื˜ืื ื“ื™ืง, the question is even more, ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื ื•ื•ื™ื™ื˜ืขืจื“ื™ืงืŸ ืคืกื•ืง, you look further dick pasuk where it says ื•ืืช ื”ืงืœืœื” ืขืœ ื”ืจ ืขื™ื‘ืœ, it said you should give the bracha on the mountain of Gerizim and the ืงืœืœื” on the mountain of Ebal. ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ Targum Yonatan ื’ื•ืคื, the Targum Yonatan itself, ืžืฉื ื” changes, ืื•ืŸ ืคืืจื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉื˜ ื ืื›ืืžืืœ ืงืœืœื”, ื”ืงืœืœื”, he taytches the word ืงืœืœื” where it says the word ื”ืงืœืœื”, ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืคืจื™ืขืจ, not like he said before ื•ื—ืœื•ืคื”, ื ืืจ ืžืœื˜ื™ื™ื, ื•ื•ื™ ืื™ืŸ Targum Onkelos, ื•ื•ืืก ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉ ืื™ื– ืžื•ืฉื’ ื“ืœื•ื˜ืŸ, it means curse. So the first two times when it says, ืจืื• ืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืœืคื ื™ื›ื ื”ื™ื•ื ื‘ืจื›ื” ื•ืงืœืœื”, he says a bracha, a blessing, and the opposite, the turned around. And then he continues, the bracha, the ืงืœืœื” if you don't listen, he also taytches ื•ื—ืœื•ืคื™ื”ืŸ. But later on, when it mentions again the word ืงืœืœื”, and it speaks about where, which mountain you should say the bracha and the ืงืœืœื”, even the Targum Yonatan also says the word curse. Targum Yonatan. Another question on Targum Yonatan.

What is ืงืœืœื”? A Concept or Description?

ืงืœืœื” is an a description of something, a word for itself. It's not a word for itself, it doesn't say anything. ื—ืœื•ืคื” means the opposite, opposite of what? Doesn't mean anything. The word ื—ืœื•ืคื” doesn't describe what it is. ืงืœืœื”, something switched around, which, ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉ? Yeah, opposite, otherwise yeah. That's one problem with the word ื—ืœื•ืคื”. The word ื—ืœื•ืคื” could be by two things which are different, one and another. Two things are different and you could, you know, change one for another, you could substitute. But they have to have some kind of connection, some kind of comparison. Why could you exchange one for another? Two things that have no connection, you can't say that I'll exchange this for that. You could say that I will change this phone for a different phone, I'll exchange, but you're not going to change, change the phone as an exchange, as a substitute for a for a chair, I mean they're two different ืขื ื™ื ื™ื. Yeah, people that take their place. They're also, they're carrying the ืžื™ื˜ื” and they're carrying the ืžื™ื˜ื”, they're changing. ืื‘ืขืจ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื‘ื™ื™ ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ ื–ืื›ืŸ ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ืื™ื ื’ืื ืฆืŸ ืืŸ ื”ื™ืคืš ืื™ื™ื ืข ืคื•ื ืขื ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ื˜ืŸ ื•ื•ื™ ื‘ืจื›ื” ืื•ืŸ ืงืœืœื”, but you can't say the word exchange for the two opposites, like a blessing and a curse, and you call it exchange, it's not an exchange. ืื•ืŸ ืžื™ืจ ื’ืขืคื™ื ืขืŸ ื“ืืก ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื™ ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช, like we find there's another place where we have the expression of ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ, change, when we talk about exchanging the letters. We always know that there are certain groups of letters that are interchangeable. But what makes them interchangeable? Because they're in the same group! There's something that they all have in common. ืขืœ

Zoharโ€™s Insight on Interchangeable Letters

The word ื•ืขื“ is the same as ืื—ื“, but the letters are changed. ืกื• ื“ืขืจ, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ื™ ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ื•ืขื“ ื”ืื‘ืŸ ื ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืฆื• ื“ื™ ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ืื—ื“, because the letters ื•ืขื“ have a connection to the letter, to the words ืื—ื“, to letters ืื—ื“. How? ื“ืขืจ ื•' ืคื•ืŸ ื•ืขื“ ืคืืจื‘ื™ื™ื˜ ื“ืขื ื' ืคื•ืŸ ืื—ื“. ื•' of ื•ืขื“ is in the place of ื'. Why? ื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ื–ื™ื™ ื‘ื™ื™ื“ืข ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ืื”ื•ืดื™. There is a group of letters ื', ื”', ื•', ื™'. Why is that one group? Because they're all ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ื”ื”ืžืฉืš, words which show a continuation, ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ื”ื ื•ื— they're called, letters of of of of being calm, and ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ื”ื ืฉื™ืžื”, letters of of air. ื, ื”, ื•, ื™, ื, it's all the same. So that's why you could exchange it. So the ื' is exchanged for the ื•' because there's one group of ื-ื”-ื•-ื™. ืื–ื•ื™ ื‘ื™ื™ ื“ื™ ื—', ื“ืขืจ ื—' ืคื•ืŸ ืื—ื“ ืคึฟื•ืŸ ืข' ืคื•ืŸ ื•ืขื“, the ื—', I mean the ื—' of ืื—ื“ is exchanged for the ืข', why? Because they also belong to one group. ื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืกื•ื’ ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ืื—ื”ืดืข ื•ื•ืืก ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื ื’ืืจื’ืœ. There is a group ื-ื—-ื”-ืข that comes from the throat. There are a group of letters that comes from the mouth, the teeth, some from the lips, some from the tongue, and this comes from the throat. So there is a connection between them. And ื“' well obviously that's clear, so the ื“' of ืื—ื“ and the ื“' of ื•ืขื“ are the same, even though ื“ is big in the word of ืื—ื“ and the other one not, so if ื“ ืจื‘ืชื™, the big ื“ from ืื—ื“, you could say it's very simple that ื“ ื‘ื™ื ื•ื ื™ืช needs ื•ืขื“ for a simple ื“. But the main, base is I know about a ื“, both are ื“. Is it the ืข that we, you should say like the who who says it like the Sefardim say? No, no, not everyone is supposed to say that, we just don't. But I mean if you're speaking, ืข yeah, you feel like that, not like a ื” which is just a, you know, which is Also, a ื” is also. Yeah? Also has a A ื”, yeah, there is something comes from the throat. And a ื—, ื—, ื—. Uh-huh. All, anyway, but the main thing he's trying to prove from here, but when do we use the word chiluf? When you are exchanging two things, whatever they're not the same, because if the same it's not an exchange, but two things which are different, but have some connection and you exchange them. But here we're saying the word ืงืœืœื” is called an exchange, an exchange of what? Of a berachah? It's two opposites. ื”ืื ืฉื™ื™ืš ืขืก ืฆื• ืคึฟืึทืจื˜ืฒึทื˜ืฉืŸ the word ืงืœืœื”, ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื”, ืื•ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ืจื›ื”? ืงืœืœื” is the word ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื” which means nothing, ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื” means exchange, exchange of what? And and ex- and then what is it really exchange of? A berachah. How could a ืงืœืœื” be called the exchange of a berachah? So ื“ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™ ื–ืื’ื˜ ื“ืขืจ ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ in them, ื“ืขืจ ืคืฉื˜ is like this: ื“ืขืจ ืื•ื ื˜ืขืจืฉื™ื™ื“, ืื•ื ื˜ืขืจืฉื™ื™ื“ ื‘ื›ืœืœ ืฆื•ื•ื™ืฉืŸ ืชืจื’ื•ื ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก ืื•ืŸ ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ, see this whole thing was in ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ. It's just good to know who wrote ืชืจื’ื•ื ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก and who wrote ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ. ืชืจื’ื•ื ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก was written by ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก, ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก ื”ื’ืจ. Understand, I'm trying to say who they are. So ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก was a ื’ืจ and he wrote down the ืชืจื’ื•ื to translate, like nowadays you would make a translation, so he wrote on, it says ื”ืœื›ื” ืœืžืฉื” ืžืกื™ื ื™, but he was the one that got it. And Yonatan, Targum Yonatan was written by Yonatan ben Uziel. Yonatan ben Uziel was a talmid of Hillel Hazaken, and he wasn't stam a talmid, he was this top talmid. Hillel had had 80 talmidim. Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai was the smallest, imagine he was the nasi, and he was the smallest, and Yonatan ben Uziel he was the greatest. And by him it says his learning was so strong that when he learned, if a bird would fly over him while he's learning it could burn in the in the air, that's how fire would came from him. So he wrote the Targum Yonatan. Did it have to be over him, did it say that? If, if I don't know, maybe this. It's also to, they have like a 200 year span. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That can be I think a little bit in the, we'll see, I'm not even sure. So, so this whole thing that we said that the pasuk says ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื”, I mean that the targum says ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื” rather than curse, is only Targum Yonatan. In Targum Onkelos he says it's not like that. Targum Onkelos right from the beginning he taytsht the word klalah, curse, ืœื•ื˜ื. Targum Yonatan and Targum Yerushalmi, there's another targum, they taytsh it like that. What's the difference bichlal between Targum Onkelos and Targum Yonatan and Yerushalmi? Shteit in them, ืชืจื’ื•ื ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก ื˜ืฒึทื˜ืฉื˜ ื“ื™ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ืขืจ ืœืคื™ ืคืฉื•ื˜ืŸ, because that's generally the rule, the Targum Yoy- Onkelos is translation more or less. ื’ืขืฆื™ื™ืœื˜ืข ืขืจื˜ืขืจ ืœืคื™ ืขื ื™ื ื•, sometimes it goes more in the pshat rather than the translation of the words, but generally it's the pashut pshat of the words. But ืคืฉื•ื˜ื• ืฉืœ, even when he goes into more it's more the simple meaning of the pasuk. ืื‘ืขืจ ื“ืขืจ ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ ืื•ืŸ ื™ืจื•ืฉืœืžื™ ื‘ื›ืžื” ื•ื›ืžื” ืžืงื•ืžื•ืช ื˜ืฒึทื˜ืฉื˜ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื ืืจ ื“ืขื ืคืฉื˜, ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ some many times many times taytsh is not only the ืคืฉื˜, ื ืืจ ืขืจ ืื™ื– ืžื•ืกื™ืฃ ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ, he simply says extra things, ื‘ืจืขื ื’ื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–ืดืœ, he brings dinim and so forth, so there he explains things outside of the simple words of the pasuk. And therefore is Onkelos ืคื™ืจื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืฆื• ืžืคืจืฉ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืคืฉื•ื˜ื• ืฉืœ ื›ืชื•ื‘ื™ื, ืคึฟืึทืจื˜ืฒึทื˜ืฉื˜ the word ืงืœืœื” ืœื•ื˜ื, he ื˜ืฒึทื˜ืฉื˜ it curse, finished. ืขืœ ืคื™ ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–ืดืœ ืื™ื– ื“ืืก ืื‘ืขืจ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืงืœืืจ. If you're gonna look into the way the midrashim say, it's not so pashut, why? ื‘ืืœื“ ื“ืขืจ ืคืกื•ืง ื–ืื’ื˜ ื“ืขื ืœืฉื•ืŸ, ืดืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืœืคื ื™ื›ื ื”ื™ื•ืืด, the pasuk had plugged it, Re'eh, look, I am giving you today the berachah of kelalah. ืื– ื“ืืก ืงื•ืžื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ, so this comes from the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, ื•ื•ื™ ืงืขืŸ ืžืขืŸ ื“ื ืคึฟืึทืจื˜ืฒึทื˜ืฉืŸ ืื– ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ ืื™ื– ื ื•ืชืŸ, how could you say the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives and we have a rule ื›ืœ ื”ื ื•ืชืŸ ื‘ืขื™ืŸ ื™ืคื” ื”ื•ื ื ื•ืชืŸ, whoever gives gives it with a good eye, ื’ื™ื˜ ื ื–ืืš ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ ื”ื™ืคืš ืคื•ืŸ ื˜ื•ื‘ ื•ื‘ืจื›ื”? Does the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ give a curse, the opposite of good? ืขืก ืื™ื– ื“ืืš ืคืืจืฉื˜ืื ื“ื™ืง ืื– ืื™ืŸ ืจืข ื™ื•ืจื“ ืžืœืžืขืœื”, nothing bad comes from above, ืžืคื™ ืขืœื™ื•ืŸ ืœื ืชืฆื ื”ืจืขื•ืช, from above doesn't come bad, how could you say that the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ is I'm giving you a kelalah, the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ doesn't give kelalot. ืžืฉื•ื ื”ืื™ ื˜ืขืžื ืื™ื– ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ ืžื‘ืืจ ืื– ืงืœืœื” ื“ื ืžื™ื™ื ื˜ ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื, so Targum Yonatan says here it doesn't mean a curse, it means an exchange, ื“ืขืจ ืื•ืžื‘ื™ื™ื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ืจื›ื”, the exchange of a berachah. What does that mean, ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜? Means like this: ื“ืืก ื•ื•ืืก ืขืก ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ืืŸ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืงืœืœื”, ืื™ื– ืขืก ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžืฆื“ ื”ืžืื›ื™ืœ, ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžืฆื“ ื“ืขื ืดืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸืด, it's not that the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives you a kelalah, the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ doesn't give ืงืœืœื•ืช, ื ืืจ ืžืฆื“ ื”ืžืงื‘ืœ, the people who are receiving it, by them it could turn into a kelalah. So ื“ืขืจื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ื•ื•ืขืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืžืงื‘ืœ ืื™ื– ืฉืœื ื›ื“ื™ื‘ืขื™, when the mekabel, the receiver is not the way he should be, ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื‘ืจื›ื”, ืื™ื™ ื“ื™ ืชื™ืงื•ืŸ ืคื•ื ืขื ืžืงื‘ืœ, the berachah the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives, he only gives berachah, but sometimes because he's not the so the ื‘ืจื›ื” ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gave ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ืื™ื‘ืขืจื’ืขื‘ื™ื˜ืŸ, gets exchanged ื“ื•ืจืš ืžืขืฉื” ื”ืžืงื‘ืœ from berachah to kelalah. Because of the actions of the receiver he makes the change, and when the berachah gets to him it's changed to a kelalah. And with ืžืขืฉื” ื”ืžืงื‘ืœ from ืชืฉืžืขื• ืžืฆื•ืช ื”ืฉื brings them an ืื ื•ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ื‘ืจื›ื”. Just like if you're behaving you bring on the berachah, if you're misbehaving you get the kelalah, not that ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives you the kelalah. So when it says ืจืื” ืื ื•ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ, so when it talks about what ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives, it doesn't say this, the Targum says kelalah can't mean kelalah. Kelalah means that it got exchanged into a kelalah. Targum Onkelos says the word kelalah is kelalah, he said there's no question about it. In the weiter, in the weiterdigen pasuk aber, but in the next pasuk wo es steht, it says ื•ื ืชืชื”, ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ says you, the Yidden, should give the berachah and the kelalah. They had to say the berachot on Har Gerizim and the kelalah on Har Eval. When it talks about us, then a kelalah on ื”ืจ ืขื™ื‘ืœ, ื“ืืก ื“ืืจื˜ ืจืขื“ื˜ ื–ื™ืš ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ืื ื•ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืœืคื ื™ื›ื, there it's not saying what ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives, there it's saying what we do. ืื™ื– ืื•ื™ืš ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ, the ืชืจื’ื•ื ื›ืคืฉื•ื˜ื•, ื•ื•ืขื˜ ืขืจ ืขื ื˜ืคืขืจืŸ, there even the Targum Yonatan says kelalah because we give, we could give a kelalah. ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ kind of doesn't give a kelalah, a kelalah means that ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives you a berachah which by you is changed into a kelalah. So lechora, now all the questions are answered. Question, one question is why is there a different Targum Yonatan, Targum Onkelos? Because Onkelos is peshat, and this is ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–\"ืœ. And why he himself ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉื˜ is not simple? Because according to ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–\"ืœ it's not a kelalah. Why later he himself, later on, also taytshes it as a kelalah? Because when he's talking about what you give, it's a kelalah, but when it talks about what Der Eibershter gives, it's not a kelalah. Fine. So far, so good. Ah? But it can't be that way, so that's why we got to go further. So the ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ ืขื ื™ืŸ is that we change it. It's coming down as a berachah. So when it when it becomes a kelalah is because we exchange it. It's nothing to do with how we view it, is what you're saying, or Uh-uh, no, no. That's so far, that's not what he says so far. So far it's just how we view how not how we view, how it happens, sir. How it happens. By the time it gets down to us, you have chassidut, it's moving. So it's always what Der Eibershter gives, and by the time it comes down we change that. That's why we daven every day. Ay, der Eibershter signed and sealed already everything on Rosh Hashanah, so what are we davening for? Because even though Der Eibershter signed, some doubt that it comes down in the proper way, because the time from work from the top till down here there's so many channels. So we daven. Same thing here: Der Eibershter gives a berachah and we do something and we make it, we turn it into a kelalah. Like with the story of the Maggid, I think, you know when he came to how late what's the so when he heard he didn't hear his father layning, they asked him, \"Why fainted?\" Na, ื‘ื—ื•ืฅ from that story. The altered The Alter Rebbe. The Alter Rebbe? The Alter Rebbe. Right. He only he only he only heard berachot. So how are how are we able to explain like overeating. Der Eibershter gave food, and if you eat the right amount, that's a berachah, but if you keep eating too much, then it's a problem. Or which food you eat. So if we have berachot that are telling us everything that comes down is a berachah, could be how are how are we to know what is a berachah, which How how are we to know what? If you behave properly. How do you know what? Well, ืื ืชืฉืžืขื•. If you listen, it's a berachah. If not, it could turn it could get get changed. ืก'ืื™ื– ืื‘ืขืจ ื ืืš ืืœืฅ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื’ืœืื˜ื™ืง, still not so kosher. ื•ื•ื™ ืงืขืŸ ืžืขืŸ ื–ืื’ืŸ ืื– ื“ืขืจ ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ, ื“ืขืจ ืงืœืœื” ืื™ื– ื ื–ืืš ื•ื•ืืก ืงื•ืžื˜ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ? How can we say that this kelalah is an exchange that we do, but it doesn't come from ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, ื ืืจ ื“ืืก ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื“ื•ืจื›ืŸ ืžืงื‘ืœ, that comes from the receiver? How can you say that? ื•ืขื•ื“, ื“ืขืจ ื”ืžืฉืš ื”ืคืกื•ืง, look at the pasuk, it says, \"ืื ื•ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืœืคื ื™ื›ื ื”ื™ื•ื ื‘ืจื›ื” ื•ืงืœืœื”.\" The pasuk says, \"I'm giving you a kelalah.\" ืื™ื– ืคืืจื˜ ืžื•ื‘ืŸ ืื– ื“ื™ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ืขืจ ืื ื•ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ื‘ืืฆื™ื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืื•ื™ืš ืฆื•ื ื•ื•ืืจื˜ ืงืœืœื”. Isn't it clear that the words ืื ื•ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ, \"I'm giving you\" go on the kelalah? ื‘ืคืจื˜ ืื– ื“ืืก ืฉื˜ื™ื™ื˜ ืžื™ื˜ a ื•' ื”ืžื•ืกื™ืฃ, it says \"kelalah\". The ื•' always adds, and whatever I'm giving you is this and a ืงืœืœื”. So how can we say that it turns into a ืงืœืœื” down here? Here the ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ is this, the peshat is like this: ื›ืœืœื•ืช ืขื ื™ืŸ of ืชืจื’ื•ื in ืชื•ืจื” ื‘ื›ืœืœ, if you look at the whole concept of ืชืจื’ื•ื, from ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ to ืœืฉื•ืŸ ืืจืžื™ or to whatever, when you translate the words of Torah from ืœืฉื•ืŸ from Hebrew to ืชืจื’ื•ื, which is ืืจืžื™ or any other language, ืก'ืื™ื– ืœืขื“ื™ื’ืœื™ืš, and the reason it's done is because of the Yidden. Because to ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ it doesn't have to be translated, it's only for us to receive it. And so this all came, ืก'ืื™ื– ื’ืขืงื•ืžืขืŸ ืฆื• ื“ื™ ื’ืœื•ืช, ื“ื™ ืฉื™ืขื‘ื•ื“ ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื“ืŸ. It came because of the galut, because Yidden had ืฆืจื•ืช, after the Matan Torah, ืก'ืื™ื– ื’ืขืฉืืคืŸ the need ืฆื• ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉืŸ the ืชื•ืจื”, ืœืฉื•ื ื•ืช ื ืื™ื ืœืื•ืžื•ืช. Because the ืžืฆื‘ was that the Yidden lived in galut and they didn't all know the proper language, the Hebrew, so they had to translate, like nowadays you have to write things in English. Because the we we're the ืžืฆื‘ is that people don't know and they don't, and so it comes because of Go ahead. Had there not been a galut, there would be no need for this. When Moshe Rabbeinu got the Torah, and he 70 languages. Shalom aleichem. Shalom aleichem. Were people in ืืจืฅ, were the people that came out of Mitzrayim also that didn't speak? No. No? Everyone did. Everyone did. So then why 70? The purpose ืงื•ื ื” to make it. To make it easier then, later on? That that made it that if you have Torah in other languages, it has a ื’ื“ืจ of Torah. Otherwise it wouldn't have a ื’ื“ืจ of Torah, not written in the proper language. It accentuates the idea of the galut, doesn't it? It can't be that. This is what Well, we give the Why people needed it, it's because of galut. But what Moshe did was, if Moshe wouldn't do it, then those people who study Torah in English, it wouldn't be Torah. Since the Torah was given ื‘ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ, it wouldn't be Torah. So in order to transform even those Torah in other languages like Torah, Moshe had to do it. Even the Gemara, the Gemara is written in ืืจืžื™ืช, yeah. Likutei Sichot were in Yiddish. So the whole idea of Targum, whether it's Targum Onkelos or Targum Yonatan ben Uziel, any Targum is based on galut, obviously. Yiddish is ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ too, no? No, it's not. It's Yiddish, it's from Yidden. All right, then. So this whole inyan of Targum is based on galut. There are two ways to look at it, two ways to describe and explain the galut. ืขืœ ืคื™ ืชืจื’ื•ื ืื•ื ืงืœื•ืก, if you look according to Targum Onkelos, the Targum from Bavel, the ืชืจื’ื•ื ื‘ื‘ืœื™, ื“ืขืจ ืžืงื•ื ื”ื’ืœื•ืช ื•ื•ืื• ื“ืขืจ ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ ืื™ื– ื‘ืชืงืคื•. Bavel, the the galut and the ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ of galut was very strong. ื•ื•ืขืจืŸ ื“ื™ ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื ืื•ื™ืคื’ืขื ื•ืžืขืŸ ื•ื•ื™ ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืขืขืŸ ืื•ื™ืก ื‘ืคืฉื˜ื•ืช. There, when a person has something bad, since the cover-up, the concealment of Godliness is very strong, you don't see through it. You see as it looks. When there's a tzarah, when there's a kelalah, it's a kelalah, a ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจื‘ื™ื˜ืŸ, ืงืœืœื”. So we So the people in further away from ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, it's kelalah. ืขืœ ืคื™ ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ ื•ื™ืจื•ืฉืœืžื™, now, those were Yonatan and ื™ืจื•ืฉืœืžื™ ื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ื“ื™ ืชืจื’ื•ืžื™ื ืคื•ืŸ ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, from ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืจื˜ ืื™ื– ื ื™ื˜ื ืื–ื ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ ืคื•ื ืขื ื’ืœื•ืช. Even though it's time of galut, but the ื”ืขืœื the concealment of Elokus is not so much in ืืจืฅ ื™ืฉืจืืœ, ื–ืขื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืžืขืจ ื‘ื’ืœื•ื™ ื“ื™ ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื–ืืš. There you see more the ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช. ื•ื•ืืก ืฉื˜ื™ืžื˜ ืžื™ื˜ ืœืขื™ืœ ืืŸ, which fits to before, ืื– ื–ื™ื™ ืจืขื“ืŸ ื ืชืจื’ื•ื ืขืœ ืคื™ ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–ืดืœ. We said before Targum Yonatan, Targum Yerushalmi go according to ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–ืดืœ, ื•ื•ืืก ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ืžื’ืœื” ื“ื™ ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจื” ืฉื‘ื›ืชื‘. What's ืžื“ืจืฉื™ ื—ื–ืดืœ? They see deeper into the simple peshat. So you explain why is that Targum Onkelos says peshat, because ืชืจื’ื•ื in time of galut and you don't see through this. Why Targum Yonatan and then Targum Yerushalmi more than peshat? Because it's not such a great galut, so you could see deeper, you could look into deeper. ื“ืขืจืคืืจ ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉืŸ ื–ื™ื™ ืื•ื™ืก ืื– ื“ื™ ื™ืกื•ืจื™ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ื‘ืืžืช ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื™ืŸ. That's why Targum Onkelos, when it speaks about kelalah, which is when we know we're in galut, it's a kelalah, that's how we see it, we see it as a kelalah. Targum Yonatan, which is a higher madregah and they could see the truth more, ืชืจื’ื•ื ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉื˜ it's not a kelalah, it's really it's really only a ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื”. ืขืœ ื“ืจืš ื”ื ืดืœ ืื–ื•ื™ ื•ื•ื™ ืคืืจ ื ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ ืคืืจ ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ ื–ืื›ืŸ ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื™ืŸ ืกื•ื’. When do we say the word ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ, exchange? When they're two things from the same category. So here you see that too. ื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ื ืืจ ื ืืจ ื“ืขืจ ืื•ืคืŸ ื”ืžืฉื›ืช ื”ื‘ืจื›ื” ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื’ืขื‘ื™ื˜ืŸ. So only when you say a kelalah, its peshat is the berachah, the way the berachah is given to you is changed, ืื‘ืขืจ ื“ื™ ื›ื•ื•ื ื” ื•ื”ืชื›ืœื™ืช ื”ืคื ื™ืžื™ืช ืื™ื– ืคื•ื ื“ืขืกื˜ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ื‘ืจื›ื”. That we know from from, you said before, the story with the Alter Rebbe and ื‘ื›ืœืœ ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช, that the emet, the ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช of every berachah of every kelalah is really a berachah. ืขืœ ื“ืจืš ืžื” ืฉื ืืžืจ, like it's said in a pasuk, ื•ื™ืขื ืš ื•ื™ืจืขื™ื‘ืš, Hashem made you suffer, made you hungry, and why did He do it? ื›ื™ ื›ืืฉืจ ื™ื™ืกืจ ืื™ืฉ ืืช ื‘ื ื•, just like a father punishes his son for the benefit of the

Punishment as a Hidden Blessing

child, ื”ืฉื ืืœืงื™ืš ืžื™ืกืจืš, the Eibershter is punishing you too. You should listen to ื•ืžื‘ื™ืืš ืืœ ืืจืฅ ื˜ื•ื‘ื”, should bring you to the good to good land. But the ืื™ื“ืŸ'ืก ืขื ื™ืŸ ืื™ื– ื“ืืš the reason of this punishment Yidden should be purified, ื•ืžืงื‘ืœ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ื™ื ื ืขื™ืœืืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื’ืื•ืœื”, they will be able to accept the the big giluyim from the geulah. Talking of Rabbi Elazar, the son of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, how he couldn't understand that he must he had to have his father count on the Har. Teitsht the teitsht those klalot as as brachot, so he got He should He should have known. Or maybe he felt it, but he just didn't know what it meant. Oh it was very He was still young and he didn't reach that madreigah yet. He was out of the cave already, he was already doing He was before, ืขื™ื™ืŸ ืฉื. Oh, was he? Oh. Yeah, I imagine that was before, yeah. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืืก ื–ืื’ื˜ ืžืขืŸ ื‘ืœืฉื•ืŸ ืชืจื’ื•ื, ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื‘ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ. To say that the brachah, I mean the klalah is really a brachah, we say it not ื‘ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ, in Targum. ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ืŸ ืคืฉื˜ื•ืช ืื™ื– ื“ื™ ืžืฆื™ืื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื™ืขื“ืขืจ ืชืจื’ื•ื, as what's the purpose of ืชืจื’ื•ื ื‘ื›ืœืœ? The

Targum for Simple People Explains Klalah

simple people ื•ื•ืืก ืคืืจืฉื˜ื™ื™ืขืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ, ื–ืืœ ืงืขื ืขืŸ ืคืืจืฉื˜ื™ื™ืŸ ืขื ื™ื ื™ ืชื•ืจื”, in order for people who don't understand ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ to learn Torah. ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜ ื“ืขืจ ื˜ืขื ืคื ื™ืžื™ ืคื•ืŸ ืงืœืœื”, ื‘ื’ืœื•ื™ ื–ืื’ื˜ ืžืขืŸ, it's not to ืชืœืžื™ื“ื™ ื—ื›ืžื™ื, which means like this: when the Targum says that the real meaning of a klalah is really only an exchange of the brachah, so if you would say it in ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ, that means you're only saying it for ื—ืฉื•ื‘'ืข people, people who are smart, scholars, they understand this concept that everything is really good, but simple people can't understand it. By putting it into Targum, which is made for simple people, he is showing that even simple people are able also to understand, when according to Targum Yonatan that the klalah is really only an exchange. ื•ื•ืืก ืื–ื•ื™ ื”ืึธื˜ ื“ืขืจ, not only for ืชืœืžื™ื“ื™ ื—ื›ืžื™ื ื•ื•ืืก ืื–ื•ื™ ื”ืึธื˜ ื“ืขืจ ื’ืœื•ืช ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื’ืขืคื•ืขืœ'ื˜, ืื–ื•ื™ ื“ืขืจ ื’ืœื•ืช didn't have an effect on them so much, ื ืืจ ืขื™ืงืจ ื‘ื™ื– ื’ืืจ ืฆื• ืคืฉื•ื˜'ืข ืขื, we're telling it to simple people. ืื– ื‘ืืžืช ื“ืขืจ ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ ื”ืื˜ ื’ืขื•ื•ื™ืจืงื˜ on those people that the ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ did affect ืื–ื•ื™ ืฉื˜ืืจืง ืื– ื–ื™ื™ ืžื•ื–ืŸ ืื ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ืฆื• ืชืจื’ื•ื, ืฆื• ืฉื‘ืขื™ื ืœืฉื•ืŸ, the concealment of Elokut is so strong that they don't understand ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ, they need 70 languages. Even then, we're megaleh, you should know that the real meaning of galut, real meaning of klalah is brachah. So this is the reason why in Targum Yonatan it says that. So again, now

Onkelos vs Yonatan on Klalah Meaning

according to this, we have a new pshat: why does the Targum Onkelos lechatchilah say klalah means a klalah? Because Targum Onkelos is a time of ื’ืœื•ืช ื‘ื‘ืœ, real bad galus, when there is no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœืงื•ืช, people don't see it, ืื– ืขืจ ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉื˜ ืขืก ื›ืคืฉื•ื˜ื•. Like he just ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉื˜ ืขืก ื›ืคืฉื•ื˜ื•, a klalah is a klalah, and you see a klalah. Targum Yonatan is in a place of Eretz Yisrael, which is not such a great ื”ืขืœื, so you could see the truth. So Targum Yonatan, ืชืจื’ื•ื ื™ืจื•ืฉืœืžื™ tells you you should know that the klalah that the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives is not really a klalah, ื‘ืืžืช, ื‘ืืžืช it's a brachah. It's an exchange, it's a different form. It's a different shape of the brachah. ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ is an exchange of the same thing. Like you had before, you don't exchange two things that have no connection. It's the same thing, but it's a substitute. This is an exchange for it. That's why there he says it, and he says it in ืชืจื’ื•ื ืœืฉื•ืŸ, that even simple people understand that. Onkelos doesn't live in the time of the Romans, not Bavel, a different... the next... You see, look in footnote 21. I know I'm looking, but it's still... A mareh makom is there and that's what there it says talks about it, yeah. What is footnote 21? 21. Now I've got to open up these places. Yeah. So we understand now according to this peshat, but not not fully yet. So one thing we did not we don't understand yet. The other question was: why in the other parts of the parashah where it mentions klalah, even the Targum Yonatan called this klalah? According to this, he should always call it ื‘ืจื›ื”, ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ, an exchange. So he explains further: ื“ืืก ืืœืฅ ืื™ื– ื‘ื™ื™ ื”ืชื—ืœืช ื”ืคืจืฉื”, ื‘ืงื™ืฆื•ืจ'ื“ื™ืง. This is only beginning when it's only a kitzur of the meaning. ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜ ืื– ืžืขืŸ ื–ืื’ื˜ ื›ืœืœ'ื“ื™ื’ืข ืขื‘ื•ื“ื”, ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜ ืชื›ืœื™ืช'ืก, when you're talking generally speaking, bekitzur, you know, the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ will give you a ืงืœืœื”, ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ ื–ืื’ื˜ ืžืขืŸ ื“ืขื ืชื›ืœื™ืช, ื“ื™ ื›ื•ื•ื ื” ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ืงืœืœื”, then we say you should know the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ will give you a klalah, but remember the klalah is not really a klalah, it's only a different shape of the brachah. That's when we speak in the beginning in general terms. ื‘ืฉืขืช ืžืขืŸ ื”ืืœื˜ ืื‘ืขืจ ื‘ื™ื™ ื“ืขืจ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื‘ืคื•ืขืœ, when you're really already working, \"ื•ื”ื™ื” ื›ื™ ื™ื‘ื™ืืš ื”' ืืœืงื™ืš ืืœ ื”ืืจืฅ\", ื‘ืฉืขืช ื“ืืก ื•ื•ืืก ื”ืฉื ืืœืงื™ืš, when Hashem will bring you to the land which you want to inherit, which means you have to already start doing ืขื‘ื•ื“ืช ื”ืฉื, ื›ื“ื™ ืฆื• ื‘ืื•ื•ื™ืจืงืŸ ืื•ืŸ ื“ื•ืจื›ื ืขืžืขืŸ ื“ืขื ื ืคืฉ ื”ื‘ื”ืžื™ืช, ื“ืขื ื™ืฆืจ ื”ืจืข, so now what the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ wants is that even to affect the ื™ืฆืจ ื”ืจืข, the ื ืคืฉ ื”ื‘ื”ืžื™ืช. What's going to be now if we're constantly going to tell people, you know, if you're bad, the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ is going to give you a bracha, ela mai, it will be in the shape of a klalah? Is that what we want to say? Even though that's the truth. There we have no choice. If we want to warn a person and tell him that he should behave, we have to tell him you get a klalah, and klalah is bad. So we lechatchilah

Practical Warning: Klalah as a Bracha

when we speak of klalot, we tell everybody you should know the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ only gives brachot. Ai, it comes down it's another shape, it's a different form of a bracha, but then when we get into the nitty-gritty and we're telling a person you should know that you got to behave and if not, not. So he says, we want to affect the nefesh, yetzer hara. Here you have to tell ืคืฉื•ื˜ ื›ืคืฉื•ื˜ื•, \"ื•ืœื ืชืชืขื•\", a klalah. ื•ื•ืืก ื ืืจ ืื–ื•ื™ ืงืขืŸ ืžืขืŸ ื‘ืื”ืขืจืฉืŸ ื“ืขื ื™ืฆืจ ื”ืจืข. Only if you tell him clearly, you should know you're going to get hurt, that'll help. ื›ืžืืžืจ Chazal, the Chazal say, \"ืœืขื•ืœื ื™ืจื’ื™ื– ืื“ื ื™ืฆืจ ื˜ื•ื‘ ืขืœ ื™ืฆืจ ืจืข\", so the person should always be angry at the yetzer hara, and scream at the yetzer hara. It says in Tanya scream at him and tell him, \"ืืชื” ืจืฉืข, ืจืข, ืžืฉื•ืงืฅ, ืžืกื•ืื‘, ืžื ื•ื•ืœ\", tell him all kinds of insults. Don't tell him that really every insult really is good. If you're going to tell... It's not going to work. So we should learn the sicha? Ah? But now we know... Now we know both. Now we know the sicha, I mean. No, but it's pressing, bottom line, ื‘ื’ืœื•ื™, we know as much as we know what's inside, bepoal it hurts, and tell you you're going to get hurt, that's what we have to we have to tell him. So even though we know the truth and Targum Yonatan is a level that sees the truth, But still, we we we tell the yetzer hara, when it comes on the bottom line, to tell him this is going to happen. Like I told the vort of Rabbi Zalman Moshe the other day. When he would speak by farbrengens, and he would speak you know, he would say ืžืžืฉ ื ื™ื‘ื•ืœ ืคื”, ืฉื•ื•ืื ืฆืข words, the words terribly. Somebody asked him, \"Why do you talk like that?\" He says, \"The ื ืคืฉ ื”ื‘ื”ืžื™ืช ืคืืจืฉื˜ื™ื™ื˜ ืฉืžื™ืฅ ืคืื ื˜ืฉืขืก. The nefesh habehamit only understands if you speak to him these words.\" Same thing, the yetzer hara only understands this. ืื•ืงื™ื™, ื“ืขืจ ื˜ืขื ื•ื•ืืก ื“ื™ ืชื•ืจื” ื–ืื’ื˜ ืื– ื“ื™ ืงืœืœื” ื•ื•ืืก ืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืœืคื ื™ื”ื ืื™ื– ืืŸ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื, the reason why the Torah says, \"I am giving you a klalah, and it's only an exchange,\" is ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื ืืจ ืžื™ื˜ ื“ืขืจ ื›ื•ื•ื ื” ืฆื• ืคืืจืœื™ื™ื›ื˜ืขืจืŸ ื“ื™ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื“ืŸ. So you would think that the reason is to make it easier for a Yid, so a Yid should know that the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ is good to you and the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ gives you always brachot and and even the klalah is a bracha. It's not not that. ื ืืจ ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ืื™ืš ื ื•ื’ืข ืฆื•ื ืขืฆื ื”ืขื ื™ืŸ, in other words, this is really what it is and that's noge'a to the whole inyan of what the of what the pasuk is trying to tell us, and he explains it. ื“ืขืจ ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ ื‘ื–ื” ื‘ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ื”ืขื ื™ื ื™ื, the explanation in the ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ื”ืขื ื™ื ื™ื is like this, ื•ื›ื”ืงื“ืžื”, ืขืœ ืคื™ ืคืฉื•ื˜ื• ืฉืœ ืžืงืจื, ืื–ื•ื™ ื•ื•ื™ ืขืก ืื™ื– ืžืคื•ืจืฉ ืื™ืŸ ืžื“ืจืฉ ืจื‘ื”, according to simple peshat, and that's what the Midrash says, ื“ืืก ื’ื™ื™ื˜ ืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืื•ื™ืฃ ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื. Who's that? When he says, \"ืจืื” ืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืœืคื ื™ื›ื, I am giving you,\" who's the I? The Eibishter. That's how we ืคืฉื•ื˜ ื˜ื™ื™ื˜ืฉ. ืœื›ืื•ืจื” ืฉื˜ืขืœื˜ ื–ื™ืš ื“ื™ ืฉืืœื”, it goes on the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืก ืื ื›ื™ ื ื•ืชืŸ ืื™ื– ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ ืฉืžื•ืช, It goes on the Eibishter, but what name do we use on the Eibishter? And we always know when it says ืื ื›ื™, it refers to the Eibishter the way he is higher than any name, ืืคื™ืœื• ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื™ืก ืงื™ื™ื˜, even from any any ืชื’, any line, ืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ื–ื”, ื”ื–ื” says, which means ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื”. We're talking about the Eibishter as he is in essence. How can you say that from ืื ื›ื™ comes the the the even the exchange, the evil say the kelalah is only an exchange, but how could that that form of a berachah, how could it come from the ืขืฆืžื•ืช ืื™ืŸ ืกื•ืฃ? That a berachah should come in a form of a kelalah, that doesn't fit the Is ื“ืขืจ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื, the inyan is ืื–ื•ื™ ื•ื•ื™ ื“ืขืจืžืื ื˜ ืื™ืŸ ืžืงื•ื ืื—ืจ, says in another place is ืื– ืืžืช'ืข ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช ื–ืื’ื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืืจื•ื™ืก ื“ื•ื•ืงื ืื™ืŸ ื”ืชื—ืœืงื•ืช. This is a very deep inyan, deep inyan. The real ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช, the real simplicity, is davka when there's a lot of division. And he explains it, ื‘ืฉืขืช ืขืฆื ื”ืคืฉื•ื˜ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื ืชื’ืœื” ืจื™ื‘ื•ื™ ืงื•ื•ื™ื, when the real essence is ื ืชื’ืœื” in many, ืงื• means lines, or many forms, ื•ื‘ืคืจื˜, certainly if they're opposite, ื“ืืก ื’ื•ืคื ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ ื”ื›ืจื— ืื– ืขืจ ืื™ื– ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžืฆื•ื™ืจ ื•ืžื’ื•ื“ืจ ืื™ืŸ ืงื™ื™ืŸ ืฆื™ื•ืจ ื•ืชื•ืืจ ื—ืก ื•ืฉืœื•ื. When can you see that he is not limited to any limitation? When from him comes out all kinds of things. If you have something you could say, \"Well, he's beyond any limitation, he's pashut, he's simple,\" and only one thing comes out. So you know what I would say? Only chesed comes out from him. The source is chesed. When do you say that source is not limited? When you see chesed and gevurah. When you see more than one and more than one different type of things, that is ืžื›ืจื™ืข, that proves to us that the source is really ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื”. That's not ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื” anymore, it's after tzimtzum. When it comes out, it's not, but the source is ืื—ื“ื•ืช. That means that he's not ืžืฆื•ื™ืจ ื•ืžื’ื•ื“ืจ, he's not limited to no ืฆื™ื•ืจ, no form, ื•ืชื•ืืจ ื—ืก ื•ืฉืœื•ื. ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ืคืฉื•ื˜ ื‘ืชื›ืœื™ืช ื”ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช, is very ืคืฉื•ื˜, ืื•ื™ื‘ ืขืจ'ืก, ืคืืจ ืื™ื ื ื™ื˜, ืคืืจ ืื™ื ืื™ืš ื“ื™ ืงื•ื•ื™ื ืจื‘ื™ื ื•ื”ืคื›ื™ื ื ื™ื˜ ืงืขื ืขืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜, that's why you could have opposites. If something is limited, you can't have opposites comes out, you could only come out whatever whatever he is. To have two opposites comes out, it means that the source that comes out is something that's not limited to this and not limited to this. ื•ื•ืืก ื‘ืืœื“ ืื– ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื” ืคื•ืŸ ืื ื›ื™ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื ืชื’ืœื” ื›ื‘ื™ื›ื•ืœ ื“ื•ื•ืงื ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ืขื ืงื• ื”ื”ืคื›ื™ ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื, so it comes out like this. If the Eibershter

Unity and Duality in Divine Blessings

would give only berachah and it would all come out in the form of berachah, it wouldn't prove that it comes from Oh, so it's only one one type of line. When do you prove that it's The fact that it's come into berachah and come into the opposite. ืงื•ืžื˜ ืื•ื™ืก ืื– ื”ืžืฉื›ืช ืืœืงื•ืช ืœืžื˜ื” ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ืขื ืงื•, so it comes out that the fact that ืืœืงื•ืช, it comes down in the world in the opposite side, ืื™ื– ื›ื‘ื™ื›ื•ืœ ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืื•ืŸ ื˜ื™ืคืขืจ ื•ื•ื™ ื“ื™ ื”ืžืฉื›ื” ื ืชื™ื ืช ื”ื‘ืจื›ื” ื•ืžื˜ื™ื‘ ื ื’ืœื”, that's higher than the berachah, because when the berachah comes, it doesn't express ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื”. When do we get the expression that this Eibershter is When you have the opposite. If this ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื” is in every level and then when Mashiach comes, we're not we will will be able to see all the berachot, therefore, will there not be ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื” anymore? No, but it'll still be ื›ืื™ืœื• you will see that the ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ it was not. And that even ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ if it's not, it's still him. Even the form is him. We have night. This fits what the Alter Rebbe explains in a different way ื”ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ืขื ื™ืŸ ื”ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื ืื™ื– ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื˜ื•ื‘ ื ืขืœื” ื“ืืชื›ืกื™ื that the real ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช of all suffering is good, but from a higher level of good. ืคื•ืŸ ื™\"ืง ืคื•ื ื ืฉื ื”ื•ื™' from the first two letters of ืฉื ื”ื•ื™' ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ ื˜ื•ื‘ ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ higher than revealed good. ื•ื•ืืก ื–ื™ื™ื ืขืŸ ื—ืกื“ื™ื ื”ืžื›ื•ืกื™ื ื•ื•ืืก ืงืขื ืขืŸ ื ื™ื˜ ืืจืืคืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื‘ืขื•ืœื ื›ื—ืกื“ ื’ืœื•ื™. These are chasadim which are covered which cannot come down in a form of ื—ืกื“ ื’ืœื•ื™. Now what does that mean? We always learn in chasidut and it's all good, and it's even the good that can't come down. So why can't it come down? Never understood you know, ืคืฉื•ื˜ ืคืฉื˜ you learn in Tanya, says that it's real good, Likkutei Torah all these ืงืœืœื•ืช are really good, and why do they come down in the form of of ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื? Because it's so great it can't come down in the form of good. What does that mean? I mean, these are words which are so used to, we learn always in ื™ืฉื™ื‘ื•ืช, ืžืืžืจื™ื, but if you start thinking, what does that mean? ื—ื™ืœื•ืคื™ืŸ means when you change over the ื™ืฆื”\"ืจ. No, but what's the ืคืฉื˜ ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื are really so why it can't come down It's such a good thing it can't come down in good, it could come down in bad? Bad is good? Why is bad more keli to ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœืงื•ืช or the good of the Aibershter than the good? I mean what's the ืคืฉื˜ in this? And here he explains it, because when it comes down into the other side, that's the only way the ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื” could express itself. Because ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื” only expresses itself because it beats both sides. If there would be only one ืงื•, only good, that would mean that it comes it's ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื”, it's an ืื—ื“ื•ืช. Right, so what happened, now good is good, it would stay that way, it would be a lower level, it wouldn't be the When it comes from the ืื—ื“ื•ืช ืคืฉื•ื˜ื”, then it has to come down also in the bad. Because it wouldn't come down, it wouldn't be from You always say ื‘ืขืฆืžื•ืช self you can it can illuminate a nine which, how do you say it? So here you have both in ืขืฆืžื•ืช. So where do you have, where do you have more ื‘ืขืฆื in the ืœื”ืื™ืจ ื•ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ? It would be the same. No, but it's not. In the ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ. It says that ืœืคื ื™ ื”ืฆืžืฆื•ื in ืขืฆืžื•ืช ืื™ืŸ ืกื•ืฃ there is the ability ืœื”ืื™ืจ, it should be ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœืงื•ืช, and ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ. That's the ื™ื›ื•ืœืช ืœื”ืื™ืจ is the ืื•ืจ ืื™ืŸ ืกื•ืฃ ืฉืœืคื ื™ ื”ืฆืžืฆื•ื, and ื™ื›ื•ืœืช ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ is the ืฆืžืฆื•ื, which is ื›ื— ื”ื’ื‘ื•ืœ and ื›ื— ื”ื‘ืœื™ ื’ื‘ื•ืœ. Now both of them are an expression of ืขืฆืžื•ืช ืื™ืŸ ืกื•ืฃ, it says, because in ื‘ืขืฆื there he holds for both. Nevertheless, it says that where is there more of ืขืฆืžื•ืช? In ื™ื›ื•ืœืช ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ. Then there is other ื‘ื™ืื•ืจื™ื why also. Because if it's not ืžืื™ืจ, it's not out of himself, it's more him, whatever it is. But lemaaseh it's the same vort. In the opposite, in the not, if the Aibershter would only be ื™ื›ื•ืœืช ืœื”ืื™ืจ, that's not ื‘ืขืฆื. Then you're limited to one side. Just like it says Avodat HaKodesh says, If he only has a ื›ื— ื”ื‘ืœื™ ื’ื‘ื•ืœ, then he's missing ืฉืœืžื•ืช. It means that it's only one ืงื•. It has to be both, ื’ื‘ื•ืœ and ื‘ืœื™ ื’ื‘ื•ืœ. Why is it that the ื’ื‘ื•ืœ? Because the ื’ื‘ื•ืœ is ื”ืขืœื. Not light. Not light means less aroys fun zich, less out of yourself, more yourself. That's more ื‘ืขืฆื. ืขืฆื is you, called ืขืฆื ื‘ืœื™ื™ื‘ื˜ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื ืชื’ืœื”. And if you're ื ืชื’ืœื”, even though it's a part the ืขืฆืžื™ื•ืช is ื ืชื’ืœื”, but it's a ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ื”ืขืฆื. It's the way the ืขืฆื is already able to go out. ื™ื›ื•ืœืช ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ means the way the ืขืฆื is not going out, is in himself. So where is there more self? In the ืฉืœื ืœื”ืื™ืจ. It's dealing with the part that doesn't want to go out. Not that it doesn't want, it's not going out. It's the holding back. So this world is created by both. Yeah, this world, but the fact that the world is ื’ื‘ื•ืœ, that's why where do you have more ืืœืงื•ืช, ื›ื— ื”ืขืฆื, ืขืฆืžื•ืช, it says in Igeret HaKodesh, isn't it, in ืขื•ืœื ื”ื–ื”. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ื‘ืขืฆื ื“ื™ ื”ืกื‘ืจื” ืคื ื™ืžื™ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขื ื•ื•ืืก ืขืก ืฉื˜ื™ื™ื˜, this is the deeper ืคืฉื˜ what it says, ืืช ืืฉืจ ื™ืื”ื‘ ื”' ื™ื•ื›ื™ื—, the one ื”' loves, that's the one he punishes. ืื‘ืขืจ ื“ื™ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื™ืื”ื‘ ื”ื•ื™', the loving of the Eibershter, the great ืื”ื‘ื” ืื•ืŸ ืงื™ืจื•ื‘ ื”ืžื™ื•ื—ื“ ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, the great love and special closeness of the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื ืžืฉืš ื ืืš ืื™ื‘ืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื•ื›ื™ื—, that only comes when he punishes. ื—ืกื“ ื“ื’ืœื•ื™, the revealed ื—ืกื“, is only ื—ื™ืฆื•ื ื™ื•ืช, it's not ื‘ืขืฆื. This will explain more the connection of the parsha and the ื”ืคื˜ื•ืจื”, ื•ื•ื™ ืื•ื™ืš ืžื™ื˜ ื“ื™ ื”ืคื˜ื•ืจื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ืฉื‘ืขื” ื“ื ื—ืžืชื ื‘ื›ืœืœ, and not only with this haftorah, but from, with all the, all seven weeks which is the the seven weeks of nechama. And he explains like in the In the haftorah it talks about this this comfort that the Eibershter will give to the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ, ืื™ืŸ ืืŸ ืื•ืคืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืื ื›ื™ ืื ื›ื™ ื”ื•ื ืžื ื—ืžื›ื, it's the Eibershter, \"I, I am going to comfort you.\" ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ ืžืืœ ืื ื›ื™, two times ืื ื›ื™. ื ื”ืขื›ืขืจืข ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ื•ื•ื™ ื‘ื™ื™ ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, higher than Matan Torah, where it says ืื™ื™ื ืžืืœ ืื ื›ื™, it says once ืื ื›ื™. The Eibershter will give, not ordinary ื˜ื•ื‘ ืกืชื, not ืกืชื good. ื•ื•ืืก ืžืขืŸ ืคื™ื ื˜ ื“ืืก ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืื™ืŸ ืฉืืจ ื”ืคื˜ื•ืจื•ืช, other Haftarot we don't find this. ื“ืขืจ ื˜ืขื ื“ืขืจืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื–, why will we have such great good? So, the reason is like this, in the In the time of the seven weeks of ื ื—ืžื” is ื ืชื’ืœื” the hidden ื—ืกื“ื™ื. It's ื ืชื’ืœื”. You see the three weeks the ื—ืกื“ื™ื ื”ืžื›ื•ืกื™ื, it's like a cover, and in the seven weeks after, those ื™ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื are found, we find out how they're really good.

The Seven Weeks of Disaster and Comfort

ื“ืคื•ืจืขื ื•ืชื, so the three weeks, ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื ื–ืžืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื™ืŸ ื”ืžืฆืจื™ื, that time, ืคื•ืŸ ื›ื \"ืœ, ื•ื•ื™ื‘ืืœื“ ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืื™ืŸ ืฉื•ืจืฉ ื”ืื˜ ืžืขืŸ ื–ื™ื™ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื’ืขืงืขื ื˜ ืืคืŸ ืขืจืœืขื‘ืŸ. What is the Haftarah of ืคืจืฉืช ืจืื”? The ืคืจืฉืช ืจืื” starts over the words ืขื ื™ื” ืกื•ืขืจื” ืœื ื ื•ื—ืžื”, the Yidden who claims that we're not comforted. What's the peshat? So, he says an interesting thing. The Avudraham brings from ืžื“ืจืฉ ื”ืฉื ื“ื™ ื”ืคื˜ื•ืจื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ืฉื‘ืข ื“ื ื—ืžืชื ื‘ืกื“ืจ. The Avudraham explains what is the order of the seven weeks. It goes like this.

First Haftorah: Prophets Comfort the People

The Eibershter says in the first Haftarah to the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, \"You comfort the Yidden.\" ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืืœืŸ ื˜ืจื™ื™ืกื˜ืŸ ื“ื™ ื™ื™ื“ืŸ, that the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื should comfort the Yidden. ืขืงื“ื ืงื•ืžื˜ ื“ื™ ืขื ื˜ืคืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ Knesset Yisrael ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ื˜ืข haftorah, so the second haftorah starts with words which the Yidden answer to the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, ื•ืชืืžืจ ืฆื™ื•ืŸ ืขื–ื‘ื ื™ ื”'. So, ืฆื™ื•ืŸ, the Yidden say, \"Hashem, hey, you drop you left me.\" ืื– ื ื ื—ืžื” ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื ืื™ื– ื‘ื™ื™ ื–ื™ื™ ื›ืœื• ืขื–ื‘ื ื™ ื”'. The fact that you're giving me through the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, we don't want you Why don't you do it yourself, they told the Eibershter. \"You, you, you left us.\" ื–ื™ื™ ื•ื•ื™ืœืŸ ื ื ื—ืžื” ื–ืืœ ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื“ื•ืจืš ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื ื ืืจ ืคื•ื ืขื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ ืืœื™ื™ืŸ. They want it should come not from the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, from Hashem Himself. ื‘ืฉืขืช ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื ื’ื™ื‘ืŸ ืื™ื‘ืขืจ ื“ืขื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื“ืจื™ื˜ืข ื”ืคื˜ื•ืจื” ืื– ืขื ื™ื” ืกื•ืขืจื” ืœื ื ื•ื—ืžื”. So, now, the third haftorah, it starts over the words that the Yidden are not comforted. That's the that's the message that the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื give to the Eibershter. They say first haftorah is the message of the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื to us. Second haftorah is we tell the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื we're not happy, we don't want this. The third haftorah is that the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื take our message and come and give it to the Eibershter, that we're we're not satisfied. ื–ืื’ื˜ ืื•ื™ืฃ ื“ืขื ื“ืขืจ Eibershter ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืคืขืจื˜ืข haftorah, so the Eibershter says in the fourth haftorah, \"ืื ื›ื™ ืื ื›ื™ ื”ื•ื ืžื ื—ืžื›ื, yeah, I Myself will do it.\" ืื– ืขืจ ื ืขืžื˜ ืืŸ ื–ื™ื™ืขืจ ืชื‘ื™ืขื”, he accepts our claim, ืื•ืŸ ืขืจ ืืœื™ื™ืŸ ื˜ืจื™ื™ืกื˜, and He Himself comforts them. ืคืืจืขืžื˜ ืฉื—ื•ื–ืจ ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื“ื™ ืคื™ื ืคื˜ืข ืื•ืŸ ื–ืขืงืกื˜ืข ื”ืคื˜ื•ืจื”, and now comes the fifth and sixth haftorah, which are ืจื ื™ ืขืงืจื” ืœื ื™ืœื“ื” and ืงื•ืžื™ ืื•ืจื™ ื›ื™ ื‘ื ืื•ืจืš. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืืก ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ื ื—ืžื•ืช ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ Eibershter ืืœื™ื™ืŸ ื–ืื’ื˜ ืฆื• ื“ื™, these are the two ื ื—ืžื•ืช. And why it is true Because the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, ืื ื›ื™ ืื ื›ื™ ื”ื•ื ืžื ื—ืžื›ื, twice ืื ื›ื™. I, I will give you. So the next two haftarot actually tells what the ื ื—ืžื•ืช are. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืขื ื˜ืคืขืจื˜ Knesset Yisrael ืื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื–ื™ื‘ืขื˜ืข haftarah comes the seventh haftarah, when the Yidden answer, ืฉื•ืฉ ืืฉื™ืฉ ื‘ื”', oh, we're happy with the Eibershter. ืื™ืฆื˜, ื ืื›ื“ืขื ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ Eibershter ืืœื™ื™ืŸ ื˜ืจื™ื™ืกื˜ ื–ื™ื™, ืจื ื™ ืขืงืจื” and ืงื•ืžื™ ืื•ืจื™, after the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ comforts us with these two haftorot, with these two things, ืฉื•ืฉ ืืฉื™ืฉ ื‘ื”' ืชื’ืœ ื ืคืฉื™ ื‘ืืœื•ืงื™, now we're happy with the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ. The ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ ื‘ืขืฆืžื•, we're happy with the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ himself. That's the Abudraham. ืœื›ืื•ืจื” ืื™ื– ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืคืืจืฉื˜ืื ื“ื™ืง, it's not understood. The ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, ื™ื“ืข ื”ื›ืœ ื•ื™ื“ืข ืขืชื™ื“ื•ืช, the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ knows everything, knows the future. ื”ืื˜ ืขืจ ืžืœื›ืชื—ื™ืœื” ื’ืขื•ื•ืื•ืกื˜ ืื– ื“ื™ ื ื—ืžื” ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื ื•ื•ืขื˜ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื ืชืงื‘ืœ ื•ื•ืขืจืŸ ื‘ื™ื™ ืื™ื“ืŸ. So, he knew that the ื ื—ืžื” through the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื would not be accepted. ืื•ืŸ ืขืจ ืืœื™ื™ืŸ ื•ื•ืขื˜ ื–ื™ื™ ืžื ื—ื ื–ื™ื™ืŸ, at the end will be, anyway, he will have to do it himself. ืืœื ื•ื•ืืก ื”ืื˜ ืขืจ ืžื™ื˜ ื–ื™ื™ื ืข ื ื—ืžื•ืช ื’ืขื•ื•ืืจื˜, ื›ื‘ื™ื›ื•ืœ? Why did he have to wait with giving his ื ื—ืžื” ื‘ื™ื– ื“ื™ ืื™ื“ืŸ ื•ื•ืขืœืŸ ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ืžื™ื˜ ื ื˜ืขื ื” ืื– ืขื–ื‘ื ื™ ื”' ื•ื”' ืฉื›ื—ื ื™? The ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ was going to happen anyway. So, why wait, come send in the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื and then and then finally, go ืžืœื›ืชื—ื™ืœื” and give them his ื ื—ืžื”. ื ืืจ ืขืคืดื™ ื”ื ืดืœ ืื™ื– ื“ืืก ืžื•ื‘ืŸ, now we understand it. ื•ื•ื™ื‘ืืœื“ ืื– ื“ืืก ืžืืžืจืก ืงื•ืžื˜ ื ืืš ื“ืขืจ ื™ืจื™ื“ื” ื’ื“ื•ืœื” ื‘ื™ื•ืชืจ ืคืืจ ืชืฉืขื” ื‘ืื‘, we're talking now a time that comes right after Tishah B'Av which is the greatest, greatest ื™ืจื™ื“ื”, ืงืขืŸ ื“ืขืจื™ื‘ืขืจ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืื– ืื™ื“ืŸ ื–ืืœืŸ ื–ื™ืš ื‘ืื’ื ื•ื’ืขื ืขืŸ ืžื™ื˜ ื“ื™ ื ื—ืžื” ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, it would have been possible that the Yidden would accept the ื ื—ืžื” of the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, ื•ื‘ืคืจื˜, noch ืื– ืขืก ืื™ื– ื ื ื—ืžื” ื‘ื›ืคืœื™ื™ื, especially double, ื ื—ืžื• ื ื—ืžื• ืขืžื™, twice. ืื‘ืœ ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ ืžื™ื™ื ื˜ ืขืก, if that would happen, if the Yidden would be satisfied, it would mean ืื– ืื™ื“ืŸ ื ืขืžืขืŸ ืืŸ ื“ื™ ืคื•ืจืขื ื™ื•ืช ืืœืก ืขื•ื ืฉ ื•ืงืœืœื”, ืจื—ืžื ื ืœื™ืฆืœืŸ. It means that Yidden would accept that the ืงืœืœื” is a ืงืœืœื”, and since the ืงืœืœื” is a ืงืœืœื”, ื“ืขืจืคืืจ ืื™ื– ืžืกืคื™ืง ื“ื™ ื ื—ืžื” ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, so the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื would comfort the ืงืœืœื”, ืื•ืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืื– ื“ื™ ืคื•ืจืขื ื™ื•ืช ื’ื•ืคื ืื™ื– ืคึฟืึทืจื‘ืืจื’ืŸ ื ื—ืกื“ ื ืขืœื”. It wouldn't show in any way that they know that in the in the ืงืœืœื” there is a hidden a great ื—ืกื“ ื•ื•ืืก ืงื•ืžื˜ ืคื•ื ืขื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ ืืœื™ื™ืŸ. It comes from the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ ืืœื™ื™ืŸ. So, that's what it would have happened. ื•ื•ื™ื‘ืืœื“ ืื‘ืขืจ ืื– ื ืืš ื“ื™ ื ื—ืžื” ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื ื˜ืขื ืขืŸ ืื™ื“ืŸ ืื– ืขื–ื‘ื ื™ ื”' ื•ื”' ืฉื›ื—ื ื™, but what happened b'foal? The Eibershter sent a ื ื—ืžื” through the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, and the Yidden claim, \"No, no, that's no good. We don't want it. Hashem left us.\" ืื– ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื ืืจ ืื™ื– ื“ืืก ืคืืจ ื–ื™ื™ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžืกืคื™ืง, not only is it not enough for them, ื ืืš ืžืขืจ, ืขื–ื‘ื ื™ ื”' ื•ื”' ืฉื›ื—ื ื™, they claim that means that you left us, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ื‘ืื•ื•ื™ื™ื– ืื– ื‘ื™ื™ ืื™ื“ืŸ, claiming this shows ืื– ืื™ื“ืŸ ื•ื•ื™ืกืŸ ืื•ืŸ ืคื™ืœืŸ ืื– ื“ื™ ืคื•ืจืขื ื™ื•ืช ื™ืจื™ื“ื” ืื™ื– ื ืืจ ื ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ, which shows that Yidden know that this is really from ืขืฆืžื•ืช. Cuz if the Eibershter If with Yidden would accept the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, which is not from ืขืฆืžื•ืช, that means that they don't realize that the ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื were ืขืฆืžื•ืช. By asking the Eibershter, \"We want you,\" it means that we know it's from ืขืฆืžื•ืช, so, please, come come to us. So, now it shows that they realize that this is not a ื—ื™ืœื•ืฃ. ืื– ื‘ืืžืช ื–ื™ื™ื ืขืŸ ื“ื™ ื—ืกื“ื™ื ืืžื›ื•ืกื™ื, they're hidden ื—ืกื“ื™ื. ื“ืขืจืคืืจ ื˜ืขื ื”'ื˜ ื–ื™ื™ ื‘ื ื•ื’ืข ื“ื™ ื ื—ืžื” ื“ื“ื™ืข ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื, that's why they complain about the ื ื—ืžื” the ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื. This is not They claim, \"Eibershter, we don't This is not what we want. You gave us a ื’ืœื•ืช, and the ื’ืœื•ืช is ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื. ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื comes from ืขืฆืžื•ืช, so the end has to be that we have to connect to ืขืฆืžื•ืช. What are you doing when you want to comfort us for the ื’ืœื•ืช and bring out the good part, so you're sending ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื? That's not ืขืฆืžื•ืช.\" ืคื•ื ืขื ื’ื•ื“ืœ ื”ืคื•ืจืขื ื™ื•ืช, since it's such a big punishment, ืื™ื– ืžื•ื›ืจื—, that proves ืื– ื“ื ื–ื™ื™ื ืขืŸ ื—ืกื“ื™ื ื ืขืœื™ื ื‘ื™ื•ืชืจ, shows that there are very high ื—ืกื“ื™ื. ืื–ืขืœื›ืข ื—ืกื“ื™ื ื•ื ื—ืžื•ืช ื•ื•ืืก ืงืขื ืขืŸ ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื ืืจ ืคื•ื ืขื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ ืืœื™ื™ืŸ. These are ื—ืกื“ื™ื come from ืขืฆืžื•ืช himself. So, they have to go through So, they had to go to the process of the Yidden saying it, not, but saying it, they have to another The Eibershter says, \"I want to give you myself. But I want to give you myself after you realize that the yisurim come from me. So, I gave you through the navi testing them to see what will they do.\" And they said Had they said, \"Fine, we get the nechama,\" then, okay, you're satisfied because you didn't realize that this is really atzmus, so you are satisfied with not with atzmus. But now that you complain, now you know it's atzmus, so it comes to you. They couldn't be satisfied with it. They still felt like a like a klalah, in a sense. The Eibershter, like I said, \"You're right.\" He agrees. ืื– ื“ื™ ื ื—ืžื” ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ื™ ื ื‘ื™ืื™ื ืื™ื– ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžืกืคื™ืง, the nechama through the neviim is not enough. ืขื ื™ื” ืกื•ืขืจื” ืœื ื ื•ื—ืžื”, that we are not satisfied. ืื•ืŸ ืขืจ ื‘ืจื•ืš ื”ื•ื ืืœื™ื™ืŸ ื–ืื’ื˜, and the Eibershter himself says, ืื ื›ื™ ืื ื›ื™ ื”ื•ื ืžื ื—ืžื›ื, \"I myself am going to comfort you.\" ื•ื•ื™ ืขืก ื•ื•ืขื˜ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ื‘ืฉืœื™ืžื•ืช, that this is going to be this ื ื—ืžื” ื‘ืฉืœื™ืžื•ืช in the ื’ืื•ืœื” ื”ืืžื™ืชื™ืช ื•ื”ืฉืœื™ืžื”, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืžืืœื˜ ื•ื•ืขื˜ ืžืขืŸ ื–ืขืŸ ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, ื•ืขื™ื ื™ ื‘ืฉืจ will see physically with our eyes ื“ื™ ื—ืกื“ื™ื ืคื•ื ืขื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ ื‘ื˜ื•ื‘ ื”ื ืจืื” ื•ื”ื ื’ืœื”. Whatever it is, chas v'shalom, Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. First, have it and then you realize that, and the Eibershter has to give you one way and then you ask him that. Yeah.
