Gilui Arayot and Bizuy Kedoshim in the Temple

讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转, adultery, or 讘讬讝讜讬 拽讚砖讬诐, and they embarrassed the korbanot. They weren't, you know, careful, they weren't respectful. 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转, where do we find that in the time of Shiloh they had 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转? Dechtiv it says: 讜注诇讬 讝拽谉 诪讗讚, 注诇讬 was the kohen gadol, was very old, 讜砖诪注 讗转 讻诇 讗砖专 讬注砖讜谉 讘谞讬讜 诇讻诇 讬砖专讗诇, he heard what his children, his children were not so good, what they were doing to the 讬讬讚谉, 讜讗转 讗砖专 讬砖讻讘讜谉 讗转 讛谞砖讬诐 讛爪讜讘讗讜转 驻转讞 讗讛诇 诪讜注讚. And they would have a, the pasuk uses a lashon that they would have relations with the women that would come to the, to the mishkan. 讜讗祝 注诇 讙讘 讚讗诪专 专讘 砖诪讜讗诇 讘专 谞讞诪谞讬 讗诪专 专讘讬 讬讜讞谞谉, even though Rav Shmuel bar Nachmani said in the name of Rabbi Yochanan, that it doesn't mean simple, 讻诇 讛讗讜诪专 讘谞讬 注诇讬 讞讟讗讜 讗讬谞讜 讗诇讗 讟讜注讛, that if you say they really sinned, they really did that is a mistake, because that's not what it means. But why does it mean, what did they do really? They did do something bad, but not this bad. 诪转讜讱 砖砖讛讜 讗转 拽讬谞讬讛谉, because since they were big ba'alei ba'alei ga'avah, when the women would come to bring their korbanot after they gave birth to a child, and before they bring the korbanot they couldn't have relations with their husband, and they didn't care, they were negligent, they didn't put, to bring it right away, so therefore it pushed away the time when the women, these women were able to have 驻专讬讛 讜专讘讬讛 with their husband, 诪注诇讛 注诇讬讛诐 讛讻转讜讘 讻讗讬诇讜 砖讻讘讜诐, so the Torah considers as if they were the ones who did something to them. But nevertheless, the Torah does refer to it as similar to 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转. Why didn't they? Nothing, they just didn't care. So they brought it and, \"Okay, we'll bring it.\" And they waited, who knows. Huh? That's not 讘讬讝讜讬 拽讚砖讬诐, that's not. 讘讬讝讜讬 拽讚砖讬诐 is worse, we'll see. Yeah, they bring it to the Beit Hamikdash, now they give it to the kohen, and the kohen has to bring it. So they didn't bring it right away, they didn't care, they had better business to do.

Neglect of Offerings: Bizuy Kedoshim Explained

讘讬讝讜讬 拽讚砖讬诐, where do we see that in that time they were 诪讘讝讛, they weren't respectful to the 拽讚砖讬诐? Dechtiv it says a 驻住讜拽, 讙诐 讘讟专诐 讬拽讟讬专讜谉 讗转 讛讞诇讘, before they even brought the chelev, the fat on the mizbeach, because the din is certain parts, certain korbanot after you makriv the fat on the mizbeach and you sprinkle the blood you can eat the meat. Before they were makriv the 讞诇讘, 讜讘讗 谞注专 讛讻讛谉 讜讗诪专 诇讗讬砖 讛讝讜讘讞, the the the kohen would come and say to the person, \"Give me the meat!\" 讜讬讗诪专 讗诇讬讜 讛讗讬砖, the person would say, 拽讟专 讬拽讟讬专讜谉 讻讬讜诐 讛讞诇讘, today bring the chalav and then you will take. No, no, no, they said, \"No, we wanna take right away.\" 讻讬 谞讬讗爪讜 讛讗谞砖讬诐 讗转 诪谞讞转 讛', these people were embarrassing the minchah of the Eibershter, they didn't care, and they ate from the meat before they were makriv the korban. Not the kohen, the person said. The kohen's attendant. Not the kohen. The kohen's attendants. Yeah. The kohen, but that's the kohen's side. That would not wait and would take it right away. The man of the korban would say, \"Wait! Bring the, be makriv the chalav, then you will take it.\" The baal. No, because the Torah, wait, first of all, the pasuk first is 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转, that's how he uses the words of it. If the Torah refers, obviously it's something like that. Okay, then the Gemara continues:

Why the First Temple Was Destroyed

Why did the first Beit Hamikdash get destroyed? That's your question, yeah. And he answers: 诪驻谞讬 砖讛讬讜 讘讛 砖诇讜砖讛 讚讘专讬诐, it had three things: 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛, 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转, 讜砖驻讬讻讜转 讚诪讬诐, idol worship, adultery, and murder. Where do we see it? 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛, 讚讻转讬讘 it says that saying, the the navi is saying by the time of the churban: 讻讬 拽爪专 讛诪爪注 诪讛砖转专注, that the the the bed is too short to stretch out, 讜讛诪住讻讛 爪专讛 讻讛转讻谞住, and the cover is too short to roll up, to cuddle up, I don't know what's the word for that. Huh? Curl up. What does that mean? What does it mean that the matza is too short, the bed is too short for stretching? The word 诪讛砖转专注 is made up of two words: 砖谞讬 专注讬诐. Now, two 专注讬诐 means two friends. What they did was, at the same time when they had, they knew that the Eibershter is in the Beit Hamikdash, they would bring 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛 into the Beit Hamikdash. And then they would say, \"Well, the Beit Hamikdash...\" So the navi says, the Beit Hamikdash doesn't have place for two, for 注讘讜讚讛, for the Eibershter and for 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛. And the pasuk continues: 讜讛诪住讻讛 爪专讛 讻讛转讻谞住, and the the the cover is too narrow, too small to cuddle up, 讗诪专 专讘 砖诪讜讗诇 讘专 谞讞诪谞讬, 讻讬 诪讟讬 专讘讬 讬讜谞转谉 诇讛讗讬 驻住讜拽讗, when Rabbi Yonatan would come to this pasuk, 讘讻讬, he would cry. What we're saying really here is as if there's no place for the aibershter in the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. Both can't be, because 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛 became the tzarah. Who is a tzarah? A tzarah is when you have two wives, each wife is a tzarah to the other, that's called... So like you're having two wives, two, that, the, they two gods there. And he used to cry and he would say a strange thing, 诪讗谉 讚讻转讬讘 讘讬讛, the one that says by Him 讻讜谞住 讻谞讚 诪讬 讛讬诐, that He's able to gather the water of the 讬诐 and make it into a wall. This what the aibershter could do. 谞注砖讬转 诇讜 诪住讜讻转 爪专讛, so the 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛 could become a tzarah, could become like a a a, yeah, it's nothing, should become a competition so to speak. Right, why didn't He ignore it? Right. So he's saying he would cry, but that's what it is. If you bring 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛 in, you bring 注讘讜讚讛 讝专讛 in. That's, you know, that's small. It's a divorce, isn't that? Right, right. Nevertheless, the aibershter gave bechirah chofshit and it means something. If you do it, you do it, that's that's a bad thing.

The Daughters of Zion and Gilui Arayot

Where do we see that they did 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转, adultery? Ktiv, it says, 讜讬讗诪专 讛壮, and Hashem said, 讬注谉 讻讬 讙讘讛讜 讘谞讜转 爪讬讜谉, because the daughters of Tzion are very proud so to speak, 讜转诇讻谞讛 谞讟讜讬讜转 讙专讜谉, and they were going with stretched-out necks. And then okay, the pasuk continues more things and the Gemara explains exactly what were the things that they did. 讬注谉 讻讬 讙讘讛讜 讘谞讜转 爪讬讜谉, when he said that Tzion the daughters of Tzion were like high, 砖讛讬讜 诪讛诇讻讜转 讗专讜讻讛 讘爪讚 拽爪专讛, they would go two, one was short, one was tall. They would have not like tall girls together and short ones, they would have the women, one short next to one tall. Why? They wanted to make it obvious. They wanted to attract attention. So they, one of the ways they did, some say because by standing next to a short person, you look taller. So they were like paying attention, look, we're big, we're tall. 讜转诇讻谞讛 谞讟讜讬讜转 讙专讜谉, they went stretched-out necks, 砖讛讬讜 诪讛诇讻讜转 讘拽讜诪讛 讝拽讜驻讛, yes, they went stretched-out like with a up up upward 拽讜诪讛. 讜诪住拽专讜转 注讬谞讬诐, the pasuk continues, 讜诪住拽专讜转 注讬谞讬诐, 讚讛讜讜 诪诇讬讬谉 讻讜讞诇讗 讘注讬谞讬讛诐, that they would put make-up on their eyes, with eye make-up, and to make themselves look, you know, more attractive. Not in a good way, in a bad way. 讛诇讜讱 讜讟驻讜祝 转诇讻谞讛, they would like float. What does that mean? 砖讛讬讜 诪讛诇讻讜转 注拽讘 讘爪讚 讙讜讚诇, they would walk with the heel next to the front of it. In other words, they would take short steps. Heel to heel to toe. Heel to toe, like you go with slow, short steps. What is it? Like you know you you would go So that that attracts attention. 讜讘专讙诇讬讛诐 转注讻住谞讛, and they would get they'd get them angry with their feet. What is that? Rabbi Yitzchak, Rabbi Yitzchak said, melamed, it teaches us, 砖讛讬讜 诪讘讬讗讜转 诪讜专 讜讗驻专住诪讜谉, they would bring different spices, different perfumes, 讜诪谞讬讞讜转 讘诪谞注诇讬讛谉, and put it into their shoes, 讜诪讛诇讻讜转 讘砖讜拽讬 讬专讜砖诇讬诐, and they would walk in the streets of 讬专讜砖诇讬诐. 讻讬讜讜谉 砖诪讙讬注讜转 讗爪诇 讘讞讜专讬 讬砖专讗诇, they would get to the boys, 讘讜注讟讜转 讘拽专拽注, they would give a 拽谞讗拽 with their feet in the ground, 讜诪转讬讝讜转 注诇讬讛谉, and the perfume that was stuck in the shoes would spritz out on the boys, 讜诪讻谞讬住讜转 讘讛诐 讬爪专 讛专注 讻讗专住, and they would put in the yetzer hara like poison. Oh. So this is all 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转, that they tried to attract the boys. Why is it 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转 if they're both single? Huh? The bachurim. Why single, what difference does it make? What? He's single makes no difference. No, but who who who says they were single? They they Who says they were single? If single and single. Who says they were single? Okay. Not single, and even single could also be called You're stretching it, you're stretching it. Yeah, yeah, they were married. I am saying, yeah, they were not single. No, no, there is, I don't want to go into other sugyot, but there is there is such a thing as being called 讙讬诇讜讬 注专讬讜转 even though it's 驻谞讜讬 讛讘讗 注诇

Bloodshed in the First Temple Era

砖驻讬讻讜转 讚诪讬诐, where do we see that in the time of the first Beit HaMikdash they had murder? Okay. This next words are not clearer how it goes, different girsaot, and whichever way it doesn't fit in, but we'll try. Then the Gemara says, 专砖注讬诐 讛诐 讗诇讗 砖转诇讜 讘讟讞讜谞诐 讘讛拽讚讜砖 讘专讜讱 讛讜讗, the Gemara says there were these people who were bad, but one maalah they had: they had trust in Hashem. So the Gemara says, 讛转诐 讘诪拽讚砖 专讗砖讜谉, that it fits to the time of the first Beit HaMikdash. What was it, what did it say by the first Beit HaMikdash? 讻转讬讘, it says, 专讗砖讬讛 讘砖讞讚 讬砖驻讟讜, the leaders judged with bribery, 讜讻讛谞讬讛 讘诪讞讬专 讬讜专讜, the 讻讛谞讬诐, by payment, that's how they 驻住拽'谞讚, 讜谞讘讬讗讬讛 讘讻住祝 讬拽住诪讜, and the 谞讘讬讗讬诐, through money, that's how they say the 谞讘讜讗讛, 讜注诇 讛壮 讬砖注谞讜, but then it says on Hashem they they were, waiting, relying. So we see from here that even though they did the terrible things, but they relied on Hashem, that's one maalah. Like today, who says they don't do it? Also, what's today? What's that say? Huh? That they trust in Hashem. That's for sure. But the who says the first part is today? Huh? Well, that's not what it says here. Here it says other things. Somebody that does the terrible things, I mean why Doesn't say talk to this officer, it says he walked over there. Yeah, but it shows that their trust in Hashem was 讘讚专讱 诪拽讬祝, 讞住讬讚讜转 would say, but that wasn't real. Because if you really, really, really trust in Hashem, then you don't do these things. Now, since we said before that in the Mikdash Rishon there were three Hashem brought three punishments, 讻谞讙讚 讙' 注讘讬专讜转 砖讘讛诐, 讻谞讙讚 the three 注讘讬专讜转. Where do we see three punishments? 砖谞讗诪专 it says, 诇讻谉 therefore, 讘讙诇诇讻诐 because of you, 爪讬讜谉 砖讚讛 转讞专砖, 爪讬讜谉 will be plowed like a field, 讜讬专讜砖诇讬诐, 讜讬专讜砖诇讬诐 注讬讬谉 转讛讬讛, and 讬专讜砖诇讬诐 will be desolate, it will be destroyed, 讜讛专 讛讘讬转 诇讘诪讜转 讬注专, and the the 讛专 讛讘讬转, the place of the 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, will become like a mountain of the of the forest. So here you have three things. The same idea, but it's three things: 爪讬讜谉 砖讚讛 转讞专砖, 讬专讜砖诇讬诐 注讬讬谉 转讛讬讛, and 讛专 讛讘讬转 诇讘诪讜转 讬注专. But this is all in the first 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖. Aval Mikdash Sheni, the second 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖, 砖讛讬讜 注讜住拽讬诐 讘转讜专讛 讜讘诪爪讜讜转 讜讘讙诪讬诇讜转 讞住讚讬诐, the time of the 讞讜专讘谉 of the second 讘讬转 讛诪拽讚砖 they were learning Torah, they did mitzvot, they did 讙诪讬诇讜转 讞住讚讬诐, 诪驻谞讬 诪讛 讞专讘? Why was it destroyed? And the answer is 诇诇诪讚讱, that teaches you, 砖砖拽讜诇讛, huh? They learned Torah, did mitzvot, did 讙诪讬诇讜转 讞住讚讬诐. Come on now, it's not, but 砖谞讗转 讞谞诐 is even worse. I think It's I always wondered, does a person hate Is there anybody who hates somebody for no reason? They hate for Is there such a thing as hating another person for no reason, 讞谞诐? 注诇 驻讬 砖讻诇, you hate because you you feel he's taking away your 讻讘讜讚, he's taking away your money, he's doing But 住转诐, for no reason, you see a guy, you never met him, you don't you see him the first time, you hate him, I mean, right? Why yeah, why would you hate him? No, because he represents something that you're afraid. No, I don't hate France. I hate the best bad France, nothing. So why you hate them? You see in America a goy, so you hate him? Why davka France? Because there is some reason there. You hate an Okay, you hate an Arab. Because the Arabs are bad, they hurt you, they this. That's what I said.

Understanding Sinat Chinam Among Scholars

What is sinat chinam? Is that Is there such a thing? Obviously there is. The Gemara says it, the I mean there is such a thing as sinat chinam. Sometimes it's for no He didn't do anything to you, but his 诪爪讬讗讜转 is that is a 住转讬专讛 to your 诪爪讬讗讜转. Some people feel that as long as there is another 诪爪讬讗讜转, it's taking away. I want to be 诪转驻砖讟 all over. Like he talks about it in Hechaltzu. In Hechaltzu, the Maamar Hechaltzu No, no, there he talks about sinat chinam. And he says, you know where there is sinat chinam more? Amongst talmidei chachamim! So he says. Rashab, in the Maamar Hechaltzu. Talks says that the sinat chinam is found more amongst talmidei chachamim. If you learn Torah, then you automatically feel yourself as a 诪爪讬讗讜转 and this other guy is also a 诪爪讬讗讜转, I have to be the only 诪爪讬讗讜转. No, so that's that's what you call chinam because he didn't do anything to you. It's mamash, but it's just it's his 诪爪讬讗讜转 is a 住转讬专讛, whatever. Hechaltzu, it says it's among between the talmidei chachamim themselves. There are something else. Says that am ha'aretz used to hate the talmidei chachamim. When Rabbi Akiva said, \"When I was an am ha'aretz, and I saw a talmid chacham, I was going to In my mind, I would love to tear him like a like a fish.\" Rabbi Akiva, \"讻砖讛讬讬转讬 注诐 讛讗专抓.\" He was an am ha'aretz. But in one place it says like a 讻讚讙, one place it says 讻讞诪讜专, 谞讜砖讻讜 讻讞诪讜专. Some place it says I would tear him like a fish. That's in There's a 诪拽讜专 in in Yeah. In the 诪讚专砖 it says. In the Gemara also. That's what I was asking before. What's pshat sinat chinam? So if you hate somebody for some reason, it's not chinam. Come on now. Somebody who takes this 诪拽讜诐, I want to be the whole I want to fill up the whole Somebody came once to the Tzemach Tzedek, and he said, \"Rebbe, in my shul, in my city, where I am, wherever I, people step on me. People, they're mevatel me, they step on me.\" So he said to him, \"Why do you have to spread out into the whole shul that wherever people walk, they step on you?\" That's the pshat. No, 讞讬谞诐 means it doesn't cost. It's free. For no reason. No, free means no reason. 讞讬谞诐 means for nothing. If someone hurt you, someone stole from you, you could hate him. It's wrong to hate him anyway, but that's not sinat chinam. 讞讬谞诐 means he didn't do anything to me, for no reason I hate him. Strange thing. Okay, stop here. No, we're saying you're not allowed to have sinat chinam. So why is this, how there is a possibility, just there's another 诪爪讬讗讜转 who's also something, and that bothers you. You want to have the whole, the whole kavod you want to have. Somebody else has kavod, you don't like it. Because, because...
