Tzemach Tzedekโ€™s Account of the Alter Rebbeโ€™s Histalkus

Tzemach Tzedek writes concerning the histalkus of the Alter Rebbe, ื ืืš ื ื‘ืืฉืจื™ื™ื‘ืŸ ื‘ืงื™ืฆื•ืจ after he writes in short, ื“ื™ ื˜ืœื˜ื•ืœื™ื ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™ ื”ืื˜ ื“ื•ืจื›ื’ืขืžืื›ื˜. The ื˜ืœื˜ื•ืœื™ื the Alter Rebbe had to go through, the the the the hardships he went through ืื ื˜ืœื•ื™ืคื ื“ื™ืง ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ืฆืจืคืชื™ื. What happened? He ran away from the Napoleon, from the French. Cuz he was against him, he was for Russia. And he ran away and they came to Lyadi when he, as soon as he left. And he traveled and traveled for months till he found a place that didn't even, wasn't even settled yet. So he explains, ื‘ื™ื– ืฆื• ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืื ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื“ืืจืฃ ืคื™ืขื ืข, till he came to this village, this little village called Piena. And the Tzemach Tzedek writes, he came there ืขืจื‘ ืฉื‘ืช ื•ื™ืฉืœื— ืชืงืขืดื’. Friday ืคืจืฉืช ื•ื™ืฉืœื— ืชืงืขืดื’. So he writes, after he writes all that, he writes, ืื– ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช ืงื•ื“ืฉ ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. Just like this year, it was Sunday, so ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. ื›ืดื’ ืื•ืจ ืœื›ืดื“ ื˜ื‘ืช. ื›ืดื’, the ืฉื‘ืช was ื›ืดื’, like this year. And the night, ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช, is ื›ืดื’ ืื•ืจ ืœื›ืดื“. ืขืดื’. ืื”? ืขืดื’. ืขืดื’. That's what, that's what, yeah. ื›ื—ืฆื•ืช ืฉืขื” ื™ืดื, around, close to 12. 10:30, close, about 10:30, which, about 15 minutes before, which basically, with Sonnen, it was about 10:25. Yeah, that's where he takes the lashon. ื ืฉื‘ื” ืืจื•ืŸ ื”ืงื•ื“ืฉ, it says, the holy ืืจื•ืŸ was captured. ืžืื•ืจ ื™ืฉืจืืœ ืžืฉื™ื— ื”ืฉื, the light of Yidden, ืžืฉื™ื— ื”ืฉื, was taken away from us. Okay, this is how the Alter Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek describes the histalkus of the Alter Rebbe. So yadua we know, ืื– ืืœืข ืžื•ืขื“ื™ ื”ืฉื ื”, that all the Yomim Tovim, all the special dates of the year, ื•ื™ืฉ ืœื•ืžืจ ืขืœ ื“ืจืš ื–ื” ื™ืžื™ ืฆื“ื™ืงื™ื, so similar to that is the dates that have to do with ืฆื“ื™ืงื™ื. ืžืžื™ืœื, ืื•ื™ืš ื™ืžื™ ื”ืœื™ื“ื” ื•ื™ืžื™ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื ืคื•ืŸ ืฆื“ื™ืงื™ื. Therefore, the birthdays and the yahrzeit of ืฆื“ื™ืงื™ื. ื”ืื‘ืŸ ื ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืฆื•ื ืชื•ื›ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืคืจืฉื” ืื™ืŸ ืชื•ืจื” ื•ื•ืืก ืžืขืŸ ืœืขืจื ื˜ ื“ืขืžืืœื˜. Must have a connection to what the parsha talks about, the parsha that we read at the time of the histalkus. ืขืœ ื“ืจืš ืื™ืš ืคืืจื ืฉื˜ืื ื“ื™ืง ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืชื•ืจื” ื•ื•ืืจื˜, the Torah vort of the ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื we understand from the ื•ื•ืืจื˜, the Torah vort that the Alter Rebbe said. ืžืŸ ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™'ืŸ, ืžืขืŸ ื“ืืจืฃ ืœืขื‘ืŸ ืžื™ื˜ ื“ืขืจ ืฆื™ื™ื˜ ืžื™ื˜ ื“ืขืจ ืคืจืฉืช ื”ืฉื‘ื•ืข. We

Living According to the Weekly Parsha

have to live with the parsha. So live the parsha, so whatever happens has to do with the parsha. ื•ื‘ืขื ื™ื ื ื•, so applying it to what we're talking about, means like this, ื”ื’ื ืื– ื“ื™ ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช ืžืŸ ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™'ืŸ ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ืื•ืจ ืœื›ืดื“ ื˜ื‘ืช, so really when is the yahrzeit? So really, it was at night towards ื›ืดื“. ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื“ื•ืจื›ื’ืขืคืืœืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื™ื•ื ืืณ ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื. That year, ื›ืดื“ ื˜ื‘ืช was Sunday, and it was already ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื. ื“ืืš, ื ื•, aber ื“ืขืจ Tzemach Tzedek ื”ืื˜ ื–ื™ืš ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื‘ืื ื•ื’ื ื˜ ืžื™ื˜ ืืŸ ืฆื™ื™ื›ืขื ืขืŸ ื‘ืœื•ื™ื– ื“ืืก ืžืื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ืื•ืจ ืœื›ืดื“ ื˜ื‘ืช. The Alter Rebbe, the Tzemach Tzedek did not, it wasn't sufficient for him to write He could have written it was ืื•ืจ ืœื›ืดื“ ื˜ื‘ืช. ืื•ืŸ ืืคื™ืœื• ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžื™ื˜ืŸ ื˜ืื’ ืคื•ืŸ ื•ื•ืืš, ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช ืงื•ื“ืฉ. He could have written ืื•ืจ ืœื›ืดื“ ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช. ื ืืจ ืขืจ ื’ื™ื˜ ืื•ื™ืš ืฆื•, ืื– ืก'ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช ื“ืฉืžื•ืช. He adds it was ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช of ืฉืžื•ืช. What he's trying to bring out here is that this histalkus must have a connection to ืฉืžื•ืช. ืื•ืŸ ื ืืš ืžืขืจ, even more, ืขืจ ืื™ื– ืžื“ื™ื™ืง, ื•ื•ื™ ื“ืขืจ ืฉื‘ืช ืงื•ื“ืฉ ืฉืžื•ืช ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ื›ืดื’. He gives the date of Shabbos. ืฉืžื•ืช, ื›ืดื’ ื˜ื‘ืช. ืžื–ื” ืคืืจื ืฉื˜ืื ื“ื™ืง, we understand, ืื– ื“ื™ ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช ื”ืื˜ ื ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืื•ื™ืš ื•ื‘ืขื™ืงืจ ืฆื• ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. It definitely has a shaychus to ื•ืืจื also, because it happened to be ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื. But what we see is connected, and even more than ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื, ื‘ืขื™ืงืจ to ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. ื•ื‘ืคืจื˜, ืื– ื“ื™ ื’ืขื ื•ื™ืข ื–ืžืŸ ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ, ื•ื•ื™ ื“ืขืจ ืฆืžื— ืฆื“ืง ืฉืจื™ื™ื‘ื˜, ื›ื—ืฆื•ืช ืฉืขื” ื™ืดื.

Halachic Relevance of the 10:25 Histalkus Time

Especially when the exact moment of histalkus was about 10:25, which he says, which was, which was before chatzos. Shabbos, we know we have many ื“ื™ื ื™ื. ื”ืœื›ื•ืช, like someone who says ืงืจื™ืืช ืฉืžืข ืขืœ ื”ืžื˜ื”, we don't say ืชื—ื ื•ืŸ if you say ืงืจื™ืืช ืฉืžืข ืขืœ ื”ืžื˜ื” before ื—ืฆื•ืช. So, we see that it's related before. So, the ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช was before ื—ืฆื•ืช, ืื™ื– ืžืžื™ืœื ื‘ืื–ื•ื ื“ืขืจ ื‘ืื•ื•ื™ื™ื–, it's an extra proof, ืื•ื™ืฃ ื“ืขืจ ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช ืฆื• ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช ื“ืื•ื•ืงื. So, the ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช connects to Shemos. This year it's exactly that way. 50 years ago was also that way. ืฉื‘ืช ืžื‘ืจื›ื™ื, yeah. But he doesn't write that. So, 50 years ago, ืฉื ืช ืชืงืขืดื’, when the Rebbe made the whole shturem was the same thing, it was also ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช. And this year is also ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช. So, 10:25 is the exact time of the ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช, and it's ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. So now, let's see what the connection between Shemos and Alter Rebbe's ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช. ื“ืขืจ ืชื•ื›ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช ืื™ื–, what's the ืชื•ื›ืŸ of the ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช? The ื’ืœื•ืช and the hardships of being in ืžืฆืจื™ื. He explains, ื“ืื•ื•ืงื ืฉืžื•ืช. In the ืคืจืฉื™ื•ืช was ืคืืจ ืฉืžื•ืช, ื•ื™ื’ืฉ, ื•ื™ื—ื™. ื”ืคืจืฉื™ื•ืช before ืฉืžื•ืช, ื•ื™ื’ืฉ, ื•ื™ื—ื™, which also talks about ืžืฆืจื™ื, ืจืขื“ื˜ ื–ื™ืš ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื–ืžืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืคืืจ ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“ ืžืฆืจื™ื. It was all before before the ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“, before they have to work hard. ื”ื’ื ืก'ืื™ื– ืฉื•ื™ืŸ ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ื“ื™ ื™ืจื™ื“ื” ืงื™ื™ืŸ ืžืฆืจื™ื, they came already to ืžืฆืจื™ื, but before the ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“. ื•ืžืืžืจ ื—ื–\"ืœ, like ื—ื–\"ืœ say, ื›ืœ ื–ืžืŸ ืฉื”ื™ื” ืื—ื“ ืžื”ื ืงื™ื™ื, as long as one of the ืฉื‘ื˜ื™ื were alive, ืœื ืฉืขื‘ื“ื• ื”ืžืฆืจื™ื™ื ื‘ื™ืฉืจืืœ, the ืžืฆืจื™ื™ื didn't make the Yidden have the ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“. So that's the ืคืจืฉื” before Shemot. ืœืื™ื“ืš, the ืคืจืฉื™ื•ืช ื•ื•ืืก ื ืืš ืฉืžื•ืช, you look at the ืคืจืฉื” after Shemot which is ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื, ื•ื‘ื, ื”ื’ื ืื–ื•ื™ื›ืขืก ื–ื™ื™ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื’ืขืจืขื“ื˜ ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ื“ื™ ืชืงื•ืคืช ื”ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื™ื™ื“ืŸ ืื™ืŸ ืžืฆืจื™ื, it talks also about the time when the Yidden were with the ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“, ืคืืจ ื“ืขืก ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ื–ืขื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืฉื•ื™ืŸ ืืŸ ืื™ืŸ ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื ื“ื™ ืฆื™ื™ื›ื ืก of the ื”ืชื—ืœื” of the ื’ืื•ืœื”. In Parashat Vaera already speaks the signs of the beginning of the ื’ืื•ืœื”, the ืื•ืชื•ืช ื•ืžื•ืคืชื™ื that the Eibershter had shown in the ืžื›ื•ืช, and the ืžื›ื•ืช what he had already brought that we see the miracles Hashem did and the ืžื›ื•ืช already is in Parashat Vaera. ืื™ืš the ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“ ื’ื•ืคื is ืื ื’ืขื•ื•ืืจืŸ ื’ืจื™ื ื’ืขืจ. The ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“ itself was easier. And ื ืืš ืžืขืจ, more, ื—ื–\"ืœ ื–ืื’ืŸ, ื—ื–\"ืœ say, ืื– ื‘ืจืืฉ ื”ืฉื ื” ื‘ื˜ืœื” ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืžืื‘ื•ืชื™ื ื• ื‘ืžืฆืจื™ื. Even though they went out middle of Nisan, six months before already they stopped working, or not, so definitely even in Parashat Vaera, because some of the ืžื›ื•ืช in Parashat Vaera were already six months before, so in Parashat Vaera we learn already about the stopping of working. ืขืœ ืื—ืช ื›ืžื” ื•ื›ืžื” ืคืจืฉืช ื‘ื, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืจื˜ ื“ืขืจืฆื™ื™ืœื˜ ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ the ื’ืื•ืœื” ื‘ืคื•ืขืœ, ืคืจืฉืช ื‘ื talks about Yidden went out of ืžืฆืจื™ื. Again, in ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช, ืคืืจ ื“ื™ ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช ื•ื–ื” ืชื•ื›ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื’ืื ืฆืข ืกื“ืจ ื•ื•ืืก ืฉื˜ื™ื™ื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ืคืจื˜ื™ื in the ื’ืจื•ื™ืก ืคื•ืŸ ืงื•ืฉื™ ื”ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“. In Shemot we learn details of how hard the ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“ was. Wie still ื“ืขืจืฆื™ื™ืœืŸ, in ืกื•ืฃ of the ืกื“ืจ, it comes to the end of the ืกื“ืจ, what does it tell us? ืื– ืคืจืขื” ื’ื•ื–ืจ ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ, ืชื‘ืŸ, ืชื›ื‘ื“ ื”ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืขืœ ื”ืื ืฉื™ื, make it even harder for them. And ื•ื•ื™ ืื–ื•ื™ ืืคื™ืœื• Moshe Rabbeinu had ื˜ืขื ื•ืช to the Eibershter, even Moshe Rabbeinu had complained to ื”ืฉื, ืžืื– ื‘ืืชื™ ืืœ ืคืจืขื” ื”ืจืข ืœืขื ื”ื–ื”, from when I came you made it worse. So we see what Shemos is. And it can be, ืž'ืงืขืŸ ืžืกื‘ื™ืจ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ, ื‘ื“ืจืš ืืคืฉืจ, the ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™ to ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. This explains the connection between ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช to the histalkus of Alter Rebbe. Why? Because the month three is, the histalkus of the Alter Rebbe is ื’ืขืคื™ื ืขืŸ ื–ื™ืš in galut. The Alter Rebbe, when he passed away, he was in galut, he wasn't home. ื›ืœืฉื•ืŸ Tzemach Tzedek, ื›ืœืฉื•ืŸ of the Tzemach Tzedek is, ื›ืฉื‘ืจื—ื• ืžื”ืฆืจืคืชื™ื, when they ran away from the French, ื•ื™ื”ื™ื• ืžื˜ื•ืœื˜ืœื™ื ืขื“ ื‘ื™ืืชื ืœืคื ื”, from when he ran away till night was metultal, metultal means he wasn't in a set place, he wasn't settled, was in galut. And by the ืืœืข ืคืจื˜ื™ ื”ืคื™ืœื˜ื•ื‘ ื”ื™ืกื•ืจื™ื werden beschrieben in a ื‘ืจื™ื•ื• ืคื•ืŸ Mitteler Rebbe. There's a letter from the Mitteler Rebbe where he describes all the tzaros the Alter Rebbe had during all this time. Exactly how it happened, that he ran away. Huh? Says here where it's printed. See? Note 2. Beis Rebbe and Sefer Hatoldos. Beis Rebbe, who is that, his brother? Yeah. Is that when is that when he ran back to get his slippers? Yeah, yeah. First he ran out, not he ran, he sent a shaliach back. He went away, and he told them to get to then then make sure to take everything away. And then what happened on the on the way already, he sent someone back. He says, 'Go make sure that there's nothing.' Then he came back, they found one slipper. Then he said, 'Put the house on fire.' Why? Because Napoleon was ready to come in, and Napoleon himself was a ืžื›ืฉืฃ. And he, the second he came in, the first thing he asked, 'Where is the house of the rabbi?' And he ran there and he saw it's up in flames. He sent out a message, 'You're going to give a reward anybody who has any cheftz, any object that belonged to the Alter Rebbe.' Because if he'd have something of the Alter Rebbe, he'd have a hold on him. And the Alter Rebbe was his arch enemy, ื‘ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช and ื‘ืจื•ื—ื ื™ื•ืช. ื‘ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช also, the Alter Rebbe sent spies, had his chasidim, mainly Reb Moshe Meizels was a spy for the Russian army against he got himself a job working for the army of the French, and he would give over the secrets to the Russian army through the Alter Rebbe. Reb Moshe Meizels. Yeah. Cuz what happened was that he was there, and as he's sitting, the generals in the room, he had gotten himself a job as a translator, and he was sitting and working in the office, and the generals were sitting on the floor over a map to see what to do with the next attack. And as they're sitting and he's and he's paying attention and he makes himself look like he's busy, the door gives a slam open, Napoleon walks in. That's how he used to go, you didn't get He walks in, looks around, and he sees a strange person there. Right away he became suspicious. So he runs over to him, 'You're a spy!' And then he puts his hand on his heart to see if

Why the Histalkus in Galut Matters

his heart is banging. No, it was Reb Moshe Meizels, was chasid. And Reb Moshe Meizels said, 'The alef beis of chasidut is So that Alef beis of Chassidus saved my life because I controlled myself. Cuz really he said I'm a spy, and he was a spy, he should have gotten very nervous. So Napoleon said, he asked him, 'What are you doing here?' So he told him, 'I am a' to get a job, whatever, said, \"Let him go.\" And this was all then, because the Alter Rebbe was, so he was the archenemy of Napoleon, he was fighting him, and he wanted to destroy the Alter Rebbe. So the Alter Rebbe ran away, but when he ran away he stopped in different cities, different ืฉื˜ืขื˜ืœืขืš, and he had ืฆืจื•ืช ืฆืจื•ืจื•ืช. Some places he had to stop, and the goyim in that little village were attacking, not attacking them, made fun of them and didn't let them stay, and they had all kinds of problem, the Alter Rebbe. And finally Napoleon, yeah. Came to Ladi? Yeah, Napoleon, they conquered parts of Russia and Napoleon followed him, so finally they to Ladi, the Alter Rebbe saw that he's going to conquer Ladi, so he ran away. But the Alter Rebbe wrote, the Mitteler Rebbe wrote the Alter Rebbe told him clearly that even though he's going to have great nitzchanot, he's going to have victory after victory, and with the Alter Rebbe this was the worst thing, he's going to come and he's going to conquer Moscow and that's going to be a ืžืคืœื” and there he's going to fall. Exactly what happened. He conquered Moscow, came into Moscow, and there he wanted to, he came into the Kremlin, took over the Kremlin, and then he thought and then so, anyway so the whole the story is the part from then he stayed there, that's when the Russian army regrouped and became, and the ikar is that it became cold. It became cold, and when it was cold, so then the army, the French were not ready for the cold and they couldn't fight and they later, later, that's when they Napoleon later, they sent him to an island, exile. Anyway, so he says that we know that he was, bottom line is that when he passed away, bichlal he was in galus, not at home, with all the tzaros. So this fits to the parsha, which is the parsha of galus. ืื™ื– ื™ื“ื•ืข ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื ืฉืจื™ื™ื‘ื˜ ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช, we know what the Baal Hahilula, the Alter Rebbe writes concerning ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช, ืื– ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ืก ืื™ื– ืืŸ ืขืœื™' ืœืžืขืœื” ื›ืœ ืžืขืฉื™ื• ื•ืชื•ืจืชื• ื•ืขื‘ื•ื“ืชื• ืืฉืจ ืขื‘ื“ ื›ืœ ื™ืžื™ ื—ื™ื™ื•, that on this day when a person, tzaddik passes away, all the good deeds he did throughout his life get together and they all go up l'maalah. And that ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ has an effect down here l'matah when he passes away. And it says not only the actually time when he passes away, but every year, when that happens again, it redoes it itself. ื“ืขืจ ื‘ืขืœ, ื™ืขื“ืข ื’ืขืฉืขืขื ื™ืฉ ืื™ื– ื“ืืš ื‘ื”ืฉื’ื—ื” ืคืจื˜ื™ืช, everything is ื”ืฉื’ื—ื” ืคืจื˜ื™ืช, ืžื›ืœ ืฉื›ืŸ ื•ื›ืœ ืฉื›ืŸ ืื–ื ื–ืืš, a thing with a ืฆื“ื™ืง ื•ื ืฉื™ื ื”ื“ื•ืจ, certainly something with a tzaddik and a nasi. ืื™ื– ืคึฟืึทืจืฉื˜ืึทื ื“ื™ืง ืื– ื“ืืก ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™'ืก ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื’ืœื•ืช, so we understand that the fact that his histalkus was in ื’ืœื•ืช, ื“ืืก ื ื‘ืื•ื•ื™ื™ื–, ืื™ื– ื“ื ื ืงืฉืจ ืื•ืŸ ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช'ื“ื™ืงืข ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืฆื•ื•ื™ืฉืŸ ื“ื™ ืžืขืฉื™ื, ืชื•ืจื” ืื•ืŸ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื, that there must be a connection between the ืžืขืฉื™ื of the Baal, of the Alter Rebbe, which was gathered together on the day, must have, ื•ื•ืืก ืขืก ืื™ื– ืืŸ ืขืœื™' ืื•ืŸ ื ืชื’ืœื” ื•ืžืื™ืจ ื‘ืฉืขืช ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช, which shines at the time of histalkut, must be connected ืžื™ื˜ ื“ืขืจ ืžืขืœื” ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช ื“ื•ืงื. Must be connected to something with the specialty of galut. It must have a connection to galut, because that's what's in the parashah that deals with galut, and that's the reason why ื‘ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช he was in galut, because everything ื‘ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช by the tzadikim is because of the ruchniyut. So the bottom line is there must be a special connection between this, the avodah, the derech of the Alter Rebbe with galut. ื•ื™ืฉ ืœื•ืžืจ, the Rebbe adds another point here, ืื– ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ืื•ื™ืš ื“ืขืจ ื˜ืขื ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ืœืขืฆื˜ืขืจ ื—ื’ ื”ื’ืื•ืœื” ืคื•ืŸ ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•, the last ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™ ื’ืขืคืจืื•ื•ืขื˜ ื‘ื—ื™ื™ื• ื—ื™ื•ืชื• ื‘ืขืœืžื ื”ื“ื™ืŸ, that he celebrated while he was still alive, ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื’ืœื•ืช ืกืžื•ืš ืฆื• ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช. It was in the place where he passed away. ื•ื•ืื• ืžื™ืจ ื”ืื‘ืŸ ืคืจื™ืขืจ ื“ื™ ื“ื‘ืจื™ ื”ืฆืžื— ืฆื“ืง, the Tzemach Tzedek writes, ืื™ื– ื“ื™ ื‘ื™ืื” ืฆื• ืคื™ืขื ืข ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ, the Tzemach Tzedek wrote when did he get to ืคื™ืขื ืข? ืขืจื‘ ืฉื‘ืช ื•ื™ืฉืœื—. ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ืคืืจ ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•. ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื• is always ื•ื™ืฉื‘. The Friday ื•ื™ืฉืœื—. But it's before ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•. ืคืืจ ื•ื•ื™ื‘ืืœื“, so why ืชืืงืข did the Oybershter make that ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื• should be in galut? So it fits to what he said before that his avodah is connected to galut, as he will explain. But he explains, why ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•? ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•, ื“ืขืจ ืจืืฉ ืคื•ืŸ ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช, ืื™ื– ื“ื™ ื ืงื•ื“ื” ื”ืชื™ื›ื•ื ื” ืคื•ืŸ ืžืขืฉื™ื, ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื, we all know that the main point of the Baal HaHilula No, no, many years! How many years, 14 years. So they were celebrating. They were celebrating, sure! But the last one was in galut. Because ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื• we know that's the main point of the Alter Rebbe. Why? Because ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื• is connected to ื”ืคืฆืช ื”ืžืขื™ื ื•ืช, that's when he is, and that's the Alter Rebbe, the inyan of chassidut. But ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ืคืืจื‘ื•ื ื“ืŸ ืžื™ื˜ ืžืขืœืช ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช ื›ื \"ืœ, that the avodah of the Alter Rebbe is connected to galut, and Yud Tes Kislev is the main expression of the ืืœื˜ืขืจ ืจื‘ื™'ืก ืขื‘ื•ื“ื”, ื“ืขืจืคึฟืึทืจ ืื™ื– ืื•ื™ืš ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืœืขืฆื˜ืขืจ ื™\"ื˜ ื›ืกืœื•, so therefore, his last Yud Tes Kislev, what does that mean, the last Yud Tes Kislev? ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืก ืžื™ื™ื ื˜ ื‘ืžื™ืœื ื“ื™ ื”ืขื›ืกื˜ืข ืขืœื™' ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื™ืขื ืข ืขืœื™ื•ืช ื‘ืชืงื•ืคืช ื—ื™ื™ื• ื‘ืขืœืžื ื”ื“ื™ืŸ. In other words, the last Yud Tes Kislev, because every year definitely it goes higher and higher. So the highest level of Yud Tes Kislev of the Alter Rebbe, and this is the last one, why do we know it's the last one? ื•ื•ื™ื‘ืืœื“ ืื– ื›ืœ ื–ืžืŸ ื›ืœ ืฉื ื” ื•ืฉื ื” ื™ื•ืจื“ ื•ืžืื™ืจ ืื•ืจ ื—ื“ืฉ ืžื—ื•ื“ืฉ ืฉืœื ื”ื™ื” ืžืื™ืจ ืขื“ื™ื™ืŸ ืžืขื•ืœื. Every year a new So if the last Yud Tes Kislev is the biggest ืื•ืจ from before. So that's why Yud Tes Kislev the last Yud Tes Kislev was ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ in galut. Because the Alter Rebbe's inyan is galut, and Yud Tes Kislev is his inyan. And therefore he was in galut. ืื•ืŸ ื ืืš ืžืขืจ, in the selfsame galut sort which ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ being his histalkut. In Yud Tes Kislev he was in the same galut place where he was ืžืกืชืœืง, Weil ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ ืฉื˜ื™ื™ืขืŸ ืืœืข ื–ื™ื™ื ืข ืžืขืฉื™ื ื•ืชื•ืจืชื• ื•ืขื‘ื•ื“ืชื• ื‘ืชื›ืœื™ืช ื”ืฉืœื™ืžื•ืช. Because when you're ืžืกืชืœืง, everything's bishleimut. And that's why that's the place where his Yud Tes Kislev was passed away. Now, ื“ืขืจื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ he didn't explain anything. If you say we must say it's connected with the inyan of galut. And mimeila all this fits. What's What's the maalah of galut? Or what's the pshat that the Alter Rebbe is connected to galut? What's the inyan So we have to understand what's galut, and that's the inyan of ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช. And then we'll go to connect it to the Alter Rebbe. It's just geulah. What? It's chassidus that's It's avodah. It's the yeah, with the avodah of galut. ืก'ืื™ื– ืฆื• ืคืืจืฉื˜ื™ื™ืŸ ืœื”ื‘ื™ืŸ ื•ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ ื‘ืขื ื™ืŸ ื”ื ''ืœ Let's we'll understand it after we explain what we said before, that the tochen of ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช is galut and ืฉื™ืขื‘ื•ื“ ืžืฆืจื™ื. Let's first explain what we said before, that the whole tochen of ืคืจืฉืช ืฉืžื•ืช is galut and ืฉื™ืขื‘ื•ื“ ืžืฆืจื™ื. And he explains what he means. ืฉืขืจืขืคื˜ ื•ื•ื™ืœ ื ืืจ ืื– ื ื ืืžืขืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื ืกื“ืจื” ืื™ื– ื“ื•ืงื ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ ืื™ื ื”ืืœื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื’ืื ืฆืข ืกื“ืจื”. We know that the Rebbe It's a Rebbe shita. Most people don't understand that, that the name of a sederah expresses the whole tochen of the sederah. And most people think and what they say is true, but they don't know the second half, that the reason that sederah has a certain name is like the first few words of the parashah. So we call the parashah by the sederah by the name of the first few words. But there must be more to it. And the Rebbe's reasoning is just because it happens to be the word, if this is a name and we know a name of something represents what it is, it must be more than that. And the Rebbe has a re'iyah. One of the re'ayot is ืคืจืฉืช ื ื— and ืคืจืฉืช ืชื•ืœื“ื•ืช. If it's because of the first words, so then ืืœื” ืชื•ืœื“ืช ื ื— should be called ืชื•ืœื“ื•ืช. And ืืœื” ืชื•ืœื“ืช ื™ืฆื—ืง should be called ื™ืฆื—ืง. Because this is first, so ืชื•ืœื“ื•ืช is first, so ื ื— is first should be ืชื•ืœื“ื•ืช. And the second one you can't call ืชื•ืœื“ื•ืช again, so you'd call ื™ืฆื—ืง. Why is it the opposite? Obviously, because the parashah talks about ื ื— and this parashah talks about ื™ืฆื—ืง. So now that we're saying that the name of a sederah represents the whole meaning of the ืกื“ืจื”, is this ืคืืจืฉื˜ืื ื“ื™ืง in our inyan? So in the Parashat Shemot don't understand it. ื“ืืก ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ื•ื•ืืจื˜ ืฉืžื•ืช ื”ืืœื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืœื›ืื•ืจื” ื”ืคืš ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื’ืœื•ืช ืžืฆืจื™ื. We explain that the whole metziut the whole inyan of Shemot is galut, shi'bud. The word Shemot is the opposite. Why? Weil, number one, Chazal ื–ืื’ืŸ ืžื™ืจ ืคืจื™ืขืจ ื“ืขืจืืŸ Chazal say, ืขืœ ื›ืœ ื–ืžืŸ ืฉื”ื™ื” ืื—ื“ ืžื”ื ืงื™ื™ื ืžืื•ืชื ืฉื™ืจื“ื• ืœืžืฆืจื™ื, as long as one of the people who came to Mitzrayim was still alive, ืœื ืฉื™ืขื‘ื“ื• ืžืฆืจื™ื ื‘ื™ืฉืจืืœ. They didn't make him shi'bud. How does the parashah say? These are the names of the people who came to Mitzrayim. The names of the people who came to Mitzrayim are the names which represent not to allow the shi'bud, because as long as they were not shi'bud. Rashi says no. It says Levi and then it says This is a different ืžืืžืจ Chazal. All 70, no? All 70, this ืžืืžืจ is the all 70. It is all 70, yeah. Because there is There's many levels. We learned about that last time. Many levels. One is when Yaakov died, one is when Yosef died, one is when Levi died. And then there's a new level here, Serach, no? that when Serach, okay, she was left she stayed the whole time. But when not one of the 70 in fact, it says, ื›ืœ ื›ืœ ื–ืžืŸ ืฉื”ื™ื” ืื—ื“ ืžื”ื ืงื™ื™ื ืžืื•ืชื ืฉื™ืจื“ื• ืœืžืฆืจื™ื. So number one, that itself shows that the name ืฉืžื•ืช, ืฉืžื•ืช ื‘ื ื™ ื™ืฉืจืืœ ื”ื‘ืื™ื ืžืฆืจื™ืžื”, is the opposite of galut. And here we're saying it's the name of the ืกื“ืจื”, which its whole inyan is galut. Number two, ืขื›''ืค ื“ื™ ื‘ืื–ื•ื ื“ืขืจืข ื”ื“ื’ืฉื” ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื•ื•ืืจื˜ ืฉืžื•ืช ื’ื•ืคื. Even the word Shemot itself, the meaning of the word, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืจ ืื•ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ ื”ืื˜ ื–ื™ื™ ื ืืš ื”ืื˜ ื–ื™ื™ ื ืื›ืืžืืœ ื’ืขืฆื™ื™ืœื˜ ื‘ืฉืžื•ืช. What is it, ืืœื” ืฉืžื•ืช ื‘ื ื™ ื™ืฉืจืืœ? The ืื•ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ counted the Yidden by their names. ืื™ื– ื“ืืš ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ, Rashi ืจืฉ''ื™ ื–ืื’ื˜, ืœื”ื•ื“ื™ืข ื—ื™ื‘ืชืŸ. What does Rashi say? Why does he mention the names again? Don't we know the names? It says in the previous parashah. Vayigash it says who went to Mitzrayim. So Rashi says, because when you love something you count it by his name, you repeat his name. ื“ื™ Rashi ื–ืื’ื˜, ืœื”ื•ื“ื™ืข ื—ื™ื‘ืชืŸ. ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ ื”ืคืš ืคื•ืŸ ื’ืœื•ืช ื•ืงื•ืฉื™ ื”ืฉืขื‘ื•ื“ ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื™ื“ืŸ. The ืื•ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ's love to the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ doesn't express itself in galut. So if it expresses the love of the ืื•ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ to the ื™ื™ื“ืŸ, so how does that fit with the galut? ื–ืื’ื˜ ื•ื•ืขืœื›ืข ืก'ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ ืขื™ืงืจ ืชื•ื›ืŸ ื”ื‘ื ืฉืื™ื ื• ื‘ืคืจืฉื”. And number three, there's a Midrash that says, ื“ื™ ืฉืžื•ืช ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ื’ืืจ, ื›ืžืืžืจ ื—ื–''ืœ, ืขืœ ืฉื ื’ืื•ืœืช ื™ืฉืจืืœ ื ื–ื›ืจื• ื›ืืŸ. The Midrash says these names are mentioned, it shows in the Midrash, how every one of these names is connected to the geulah. So the word ืฉืžื•ืช, the bottom line is from all angles is the opposite of galut, and here it's and it's the name which represents the ืชื•ื›ืŸ of the whole Parashat Shemot. ื•ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ ื”ืขื ื™ืŸ, ืก'ืื™ื– ื™ื“ื•ืข ื“ืขืจ ืขื™ืœื•ื™ ื“ืขืจ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช ื‘ืืฉื˜ื™ื™ื˜ ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื, We know that the maalah of galut is ื•ื•ืืก ื“ื•ืงื ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ืื ื˜ืคืœืขืงื˜ ื“ืขืจ ื›ื— ื”ืžืกื™ืจืช ื ืคืฉ ืคื•ืŸ ื ื™ื™ื“ืŸ. In galut that's when the ื›ื— ื”ืžืกื™ืจืช is revealed, ื•ื•ืืก ื ืขืžื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ, ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื”. Mesirat nefesh comes from the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื”. When do you see it? In galut. When is the ื ืฉืžื”, the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื” revealed? As long as you feel other things, you don't get your ืขืฆื. When you feel a love to the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ, when you feel, then it's not, then it's all ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ื™ื we call it. But when there is no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, that's when you have the ืขืฆื. ืื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื”ืชืงืฉืจื•ืช ื‘ืืœืงื•ืช ืื™ื– ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ ื ื™ื˜ ืขืœ ื™ื“ื™ ื“ื™ ื›ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื, ืก'ืื™ื– ืคื•ืŸ ืขืฆื ืคื•ืŸ ื ื™ื™ื“. The ื”ืชืงืฉืจื•ืช of a ื™ื™ื“ to the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ is not because of ื›ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื means the revealed thing, it's through learning and davenen and understanding. When you have that, don't have ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื”. So there, like it says: who has more connection to the ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช, to the simplicity of the ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืขืจ? ืื ืฉื™ื ืคืฉื•ื˜ื™ื. A person who is not an ืื™ืฉ ืคืฉื•ื˜ doesn't have that ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช. Baal Shem Tov said that the ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ an ืื™ืฉ ืคืฉื•ื˜ reaches into ืคืฉื™ื˜ื•ืช ืขืฆืžื•ืช ืื™ืŸ ืกื•ืฃ. ืฉืคืœ, ืฉืคืœ ืจื•ื—. Yeah, not only, because he doesn't have, he feels not and entirely ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจืคืืจ, ืื™ืŸ ื™ืขื ืขื ื–ืžืŸ ื•ื•ืขืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ ืื™ื– ืงื™ื™ื, the time the ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ was, ืื•ืŸ ืืœืงื•ืช ืื™ื– ืžืื™ืจ ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, ืืœืงื•ืช shined, ืื™ื– ืขื™ืงืจ, ื“ื™ ืขื™ืงืจ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื™ื“ืŸ ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ืžื™ื˜ ื“ื™ ื›ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื. The main avodah of ื™ื™ื“ืŸ was not from the mesirat nefesh. ื–ื™ื™ ื”ืื‘ืŸ ื“ืขืจื”ืขืจื˜ ืืœืงื•ืช ื™ืชื‘ืจืš ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื›ื—ื•ืช ืคื ื™ืžื™ื™ื, ืื™ืŸ ืฉื›ืœ ื•ืžื™ื“ื•ืช, they realized Hashem in their ืฉื›ืœ and in their ืžื“ื•ืช. ื•ื‘ืืœื“ ืขืก ืื™ื– ืืŸ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืฉืœ ื˜ืขื ื•ื“ืขืช ื‘ื”ืจื’ืฉ, it was something they served Hashem with understanding and with feeling, ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจื™ื‘ืขืจ ื ื™ื˜ ื ื™ืจื’ืฉ ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื“ืขืจ ื›ื— ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”, so the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ, the ืขืฆื is not felt. ืืš ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช, ื•ื•ืขืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืื•ืจ ืืœืงื•ืช ืื™ื– ื‘ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ, in ื’ืœื•ืช when the godly light is hidden, ืื•ืชื•ืชื™ื ื• ืœื ืจืื™ื ื• the pasuk says, we do not see any miracles of ื”ืฉื, ื•ืœื ื™ื“ืขื ื• ืขื•ื“, but we know nothing, ืื•ืŸ ืขืก ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ื“ื ื”ืขืœืžื•ืช ื•ื”ืกืชืจื™ื ื•ื ืกื™ื•ื ื•ืช ืื•ื™ืฃ ื“ืขืจ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ืช, we have concealments and we have all kinds of tests and coverings and hardships against keeping ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ืช, ื“ื•ืงื ื“ืขืŸ, only then, ื•ื•ืขืŸ ืื•ืŸ ื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ืก'ืคืขืœื˜ ื“ื™ ื•ื•ื™ืจืงื•ื ื’ ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื’ืœื•ื™ื“ื™ืงืข ื›ื—ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ื ืฉืžื”, when there is no gilui of ื ืฉืžื” in a ื’ืœื•ื™ื“ื™ืงืข way, so ื“ืืก ื’ื•ืคื and only because of that, ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ืžืขื•ืจืจ ื“ืขืจ ื›ื— ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ, that's when the koach of ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ is ืžืขื•ืจืจ, ืฆื• ืฉื˜ืืจืงืŸ ื–ื™ืš ืื•ื™ืฃ ื“ื™ ืฉื•ื•ืขืจืงื™ื™ื˜ืŸ ืื•ืŸ ื ืกื™ื•ื ื•ืช, to overcome the hardships and the ื ืกื™ื•ื ื•ืช of ืงื™ื•ื ื”ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ืช, ื•ื•ื™ื™ืœ ืก'ืื™ื– ืื 'ืขืฆื ื”ืชืงืฉืจื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื™ื“ืŸ ืฆื•ื ืื™ื™ื‘ืขืจืฉื˜ืŸ, because it's an ืขืฆื ื”ืชืงืฉืจื•ืช, which is brought out in the fact that you see you could have a, it doesn't sound like, a kal shebekalim, a person who is not even frum, but at a certain point he comes and he is moser nefesh. And you want him to worship ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื–ืจื” or to convert to Christianity, he'll give up his life. Why? This guy doesn't care about the Eibershter. ืžื” ืจืื™ื”, he doesn't keep Shabbos. Because then it's a point where the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื” is ืžืขื•ืจืจ, and ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื” is no seichel, beyond seichel. Could that be even in the time of the ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ? Could it be even in the time of the ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ? Yeah, it is, we can show it happened a certain time. But in galus, it's a steady avodah. Not, yeah, steady avodah. Yidden had hardships, in the time of the ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ didn't have hardships. It could happen also a guy was caught, so that, you know what, that moment by this guy is galus. Because they mention the kedoshim, two brothers who were killed in time of ื‘ื™ืช ื”ืžืงื“ืฉ. Yeah. No, so that happens. I mean it doesn't say not, but what is the general avodah of Yidden? So at the time that you're suffering, that's not the the the giluy of ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ, right? It's overcoming the suffering, or realizing that, in other words, saying that ื›ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื they're not revealed with seichel and so but but you're in galus, so therefore you're suffering, but that's it's not the suffering itself, it's the the result of how you deal with the suffering, that's how the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ comes out. In other words, No, the giluy look, it's not the suffering, the ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ in ืืœืงื•ืช. Right, well so that's a suffering, isn't it? That's a tzaar, that's the galus, I mean you have to deal with No, he is talking about the hardships of galus. And you don't see ืืœืงื•ืช and and it's not Well, isn't that in a sense suffering? Yeah, yeah, but it doesn't mean that because you So the tzaar of that Yes. brings out a greater No, not the tzaar of not having ืืœืงื•ืช. brings out a greater No, no, it's not like that you don't see ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœืงื•ืช, that touches you. So that Yeah, yeah, but that that could happen also, that the tzaar of not having a ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœืงื•ืช How else does an hardship brings out ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ, but not necessarily, it could be just No, if a goy comes and wants to hurt you, and says don't That's a tzaar right there. No, but when he tells you don't learn Torah, that brings out more of ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื”. Well, that's a tzaar at that moment. Yeah, but you're saying it's a tzaar that it's not after the tzaar, the ืจื•ื—ื ื™ื•ืชื“ื™ืงืข ืฆืขืจ of not having Torah, it's the fact that he doesn't let you keep learn Torah, so he doesn't let you learn Torah brings out more. You see it pashut, that the Yidden who were in Russia, the mesirat nefesh they went, the same people when they came to America, they weren't at the same level. There they daven and learned a lot more than this, and here he came, oh, free country, you can do what you want. It slacked up, I mean I'm not saying they didn't. Well you have to be able to overcome the suffering, in other words. Yeah, yeah. to see that it's in order, so that the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” should Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. should come out. Now that's the You see, it comes out by itself. Here's another, you can't it's The matzav brings it out. Unless you have ืžื™ื“ืช ื”ืฉืชื•ื•ืช. The matzav of ื”ืขืœื, the matzav of ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ brings it out, because the nefesh is always fighting the ื”ืขืœื. But if there is ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื it has nothing to fight. But when there is no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, so then so the nefesh fights it. Through galut became revealed the the essential connection of a Yid to the Aibershter. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ื’ืขื•ื•ืขืŸ ื“ื™ ื”ื›ื ื” ืฆื• ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”. That's why ื’ืœื•ืช ืžืฆืจื™ื was the preparation for ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”. Why? ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื“ื™ ืชื›ืœื™ืช ืคื•ืŸ ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”? Because what is the goal of ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”? ืฆื• ืžืžืฉื™ืš ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืืœื•ืงื•ืช ืื™ืŸ ื“ื‘ืจื™ื ื’ืฉืžื™ื™ื, to bring ืืœื•ืงื•ืช in ื’ืฉืžื™ื•ืช'ื“ื™ืงืข things, ื•ื•ืืก ื–ืืœืŸ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื, which are low, which means don't have ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœื•ืงื•ืช. ืื•ืŸ ื“ื•ืจืš ืชื•ืจื” ื•ืžืฆื•ืช ื–ืืœืŸ ืื•ื™ืš ื–ื™ื™ ื•ื•ืขืจืŸ ื ื“ื™ืจื” ืœื• ื™ืชื‘ืจืš. So through Torah u'mitzvot the gashmiyut, the ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื will become a ื“ื™ืจื” ืœื• ื™ืชื‘ืจืš. ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืก, ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ืขื ื“ืจื™ืงื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืื•ื™ืก ื“ืขืจ ืขืฆื ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจื”. The ืขืฆื ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจื” is more felt when you do with gashmiyut. If a person doesn't get involved with gashmiyut, only with ruchniyut, you don't have the real real thing of of ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”. So this is the inyan of ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, so what's the hachana to ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”? The same idea: galut where you have the hardships, which is not ืกืชื ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื, ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื ืฉื‘ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื ืฉื‘ืชื—ืชื•ื ื™ื, and nevertheless you have the ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืืœื•ืงื•ืช, the the neshamah, that's the ื”ื›ื ื” to ืžืชืŸ ืชื•ืจื”. ื“ืขืจ, ืื™ื‘ืขืจ ื“ืขื ื•ื•ืืก ืขืจ ื‘ื•ื™ื˜ ื ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ ืื™ื– ื ืžืขืœื”... ืื™ื– ื“ื™ ืžืขืœื” ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ืžืฆื™ืื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื ื’ืœื•ืช. What we said before, the ืžืขืœื” of ื’ืœื•ืช, ืื– ื”ื’ื ืก'ืœื™ื™ื›ื˜ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื“ืขืจ ืื•ืจ ืืœื•ืงื™ ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, even though Hashem's, the light of Hashem is not ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, ืื•ืŸ ื“ืืš ื•ื•ืขืจ... ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื“ื•ืงื ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ ื ืชื’ืœื” ื“ืขืจ ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื”, and nevertheless the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื” comes when there is no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, ืื™ื– ืžืจื•ืžื– ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื ืขื ื™ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืฉืžื•ืช. That's hinted in the word Shemos. What's the Shemos? Shemos means names. ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื ื ืืžืขืŸ ืฆื•ื ืžืขื ื˜ืฉืŸ, ื•ื•ืืก ื˜ืจืื’ื˜ ื“ืขื ื ืืžืขืŸ, when we talk about the connection between the name and the person who has the name, ื’ืขืคื™ื ื˜ ืžืขืŸ ืฆื•ื•ื™ื™ ืงืฆื•ื•ืช, we find two extremes. ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื™ื ืข ื–ื™ื™ื˜ ื–ืขื˜ ืžืขืŸ ืื– ื“ืขืจ ื‘ืขืœ ื”ืฉื ืžืฆื“ ื–ื™ืš ืืœื™ื™ืŸ, we know that a person with the name, for himself, ื ื•ื™ื˜ื™ื’ื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืื™ืŸ ื’ืื ืฆืŸ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืื™ืŸ ืงื™ื™ืŸ ื ืืžืขืŸ. You call his name ืื•ืŸ ื ืืš ืžืขืจ, ื•ื•ืขืŸ ื ืžืขื ื˜ืฉ ื—ืœืฉ'ื˜, Rachmana litzlan, when a person faints, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืืก ืžื™ื™ื ื˜, what does it mean he faints? ืื– ื“ื™ ื—ื™ื•ืช ื”ื ืคืฉ ืื™ื– ืื™ืŸ ื ืžืฆื‘ ืคื•ืŸ ื”ืชืขืœืžื•ืช ืื•ืŸ ืื™ื– ืืคื’ืขืฆื•ื™ื’ืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ื‘ื’ื•ืฃ. Why did he faint? Because the ื—ื™ื•ืช that's supposed to give him, make him active and is left him, so it's not ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™. So how do you wake him up? ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื“ืขืจ ืžืขื ื˜ืฉ ื“ืขืจืžื•ื ื˜ืขืจื˜ ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ืขื ื•ื•ืืก ืžืขืŸ ืจื•ืคื˜ ืื™ื ื‘ื™ื™ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ื ืืžืขืŸ. You could wake him up, revive him by calling him by his name. Story about, is that the Alter Rebbe, the ื–ื™ื™ื“ืข? Yeah, the Tzemach Tzedek, yeah. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ื ื‘ืื•ื•ื™ื™ื–, that shows ืื– ื“ืขืจ ืฉื ื”ืื˜ ื ืงืฉืจ ื’ืœื™ื™ืš ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื ืขืฆื ื—ื™ื•ืช ื”ื ืคืฉ. It shows it has to do with the ืขืฆื ื—ื™ื•ืช. ื“ืขืจืคืืจ ื”ืื˜ ืขืจ ื‘ื›ื— ืฆื• ืžืžืฉื™ืš ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื—ื™ื•ืช ืฆื•ืจื™ืง ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื›ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ื•ืฃ. That's why he can bring the ื—ื™ื•ืช back. Because what's the ืคืฉื˜ he fainted? He didn't die. The ื—ื™ื•ืช didn't leave, ela mai, it went back to the source. Now if you're going to do something to get the ื—ื™ื•ืช back, you have to reach into the ืžืงื•ืจ. Because if you don't get into the ืžืงื•ืจ, it's not there. And what's the ืžืงื•ืจ? The ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ. So by calling by his name, you reach into the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ to bring out the ื—ื™ื•ืช, that means that a name is connected to the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืขื ื™ืŸ ืื™ื– ื ืžืขืœื” ืื™ืŸ ืฉื ืœื’ื‘ื™, and in this way, ืฉื is greater than ืื•ืจ. Before we said a ืžืขืœื” in ืื•ืจ, that through ืื•ืจ you can see the ืžืื•ืจ. This is a ืžืขืœื” in ืฉื, ื•ื•ืืก ื›ืื˜ืฉ ืคื•ืŸ ืื•ืจ ืงืขืŸ ืžืขืŸ ื•ื•ื™ืกืŸ ื“ืขื ืžืื•ืจ, from ืื•ืจ you can know the ืžืื•ืจ, ืคื•ื ื“ืขืกื˜ื•ื•ืขื’ืŸ ืื™ื– ืื•ืจ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืžืžืฉื™ืš ื“ืขื ืขืฆื ื”ืžืื•ืจ, ืื•ืจ doesn't bring the ืขืฆื ื”ืžืื•ืจ, but ืฉื does bring the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ. ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜, this is just the bottom line, ืื– ื“ืขืจ ืขืฆื ืคื•ืŸ ื“ืขื ืื“ื ื“ืจื™ืงื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืื•ื™ืก ื“ื•ื•ืงื ื“ืืจื˜ ื•ื•ืื• ืขืก ืื™ื– ืขื›ื˜ ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืงื™ื™ืŸ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™'ื“ื™ืงืข ืฉื™ื™ื›ื•ืช ืฆื•ื ืžืขื ื˜ืฉ. Where is the ืขืฆื? In something that you do not see a connection. Like you said before, the first side is that a ืฉื has no connection to the person, and ื“ื•ื•ืงื in something that has no connection, that's where you see the ืขืฆื. ืื–ื•ื™ ื•ื•ื™ ืžื™ืจ ื”ืื‘ืŸ ื’ืขืจืขื“ื˜ ืคืจื™ืขืจ, this fits to the, like we said before, the ืžืขืœื” ืคื•ืŸ ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช, ืื– ื“ืขืจ ืขืฆื ืคื•ืŸ ื ื™ื™ื“ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื ืชื’ืœื” ื“ื•ื•ืงื ืื™ืŸ ื ืžืงื•ื ื‘ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช. When is the ืขืฆื of a ื™ื™ื“ ื ืชื’ืœื” there? Just like a ืฉื. So now we see the connection between the word ืฉื, ืฉืžื•ืช, to ื’ืœื•ืช. Now, based on how we understand what ื’ืœื•ืช is and what ืฉืžื•ืช is, we'll understand the connection to the Alter Rebbe. The Alter Rebbe inyan we said is connected to galut, that's why he passed away in galut, the last histalkut was in galut, and he passed away Parashat Shemot of galut. What's the inyan? Why? Cuz ื™ื“ื•ืข, ื ืงืฉืจ ืฆื• ื“ื™ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื ืคืฉ, ื ืคืฉ ื”ืื“ื, we know, just like there's this level of ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” in the person, the ื ืคืฉ, ืื–ื•ื™ ืื•ื™ืš ืื™ื– ืคืืจืืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืื™ืŸ ืชื•ืจื”. Torah also has ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”, which is ืชื•ืจืช ื”ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช. ืื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืขื™ืงืจ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจื” ืื™ื– ืื™ืŸ ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ื—ื‘''ื“. ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ื’ื•ืคื, where is the main giluy? In Chabad. By bringing down ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช into the ืฉื›ืœ, Chabad, now you're able to even be megaleh godliness in your seichel, in your ื ืคืฉ ื”ื‘ื”ืžื™ืช, ื‘ื™ื– ืฆื• ืžื”ืคืš ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ื–ื™ื™ืขืจ ืžืฆื™ืื•ืช ืžืŸ ื”ืงืฆื” ืืœ ื”ืงืฆื”, to change it from one extreme to the other. ืขืœ ื“ืจืš ื“ื•ื•ืงื ืื™ืŸ ื“ืขื ื“ืจื™ืงื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืื•ื™ืก ื“ืขืจ ืขืฆื ืคื•ืŸ ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ื”ืชื•ืจื”. Davka in ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ื—ื‘''ื“, when you have it all the way down in Chabad, that's the etzem of ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ื”ืชื•ืจื”. That's why the Berditchever said benoge'a the Alter Rebbe: ืžื™ืจ ื”ืื‘ืŸ ืืœืข ื’ืขื’ืขืกืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืื™ื™ืŸ ืฉื™ืกืœ, ืื•ืŸ ื“ืขืจ ืœื™ื˜ื•ื•ืืง ื”ืื˜ ืฆื•ื’ืขื ื•ืžืขืŸ ื“ื™ ืคืืจื›ืืฉืงืข. We all ate from one bowl, and the ืœื™ื˜ื•ื•ืืง, the Alter Rebbe, took away the ืกืžืขื˜ืขื ืข, took away the cream. What does that mean? What's the cream? The fat. What's fat? So it's explained in ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช: fat is the etzem. Shemen is the etzem. Shemen is the essence, because everything, you can get shemen out. Anything that you'll squeeze, you'll get oil. Squeeze this wood, a table, if you squeeze it enough and you have the machine, it'll come out a drop of oil. A drop of oil, that is the etzem of everything. So he said that the Alter Rebbe took the fat, took the etzem. And the Rebbe explains in another place why the Alter Rebbe called the Baal Shem Tov the zayde. Wasn't his zayde, it was his ืจื‘ื™'ืก ืจื‘ื™. But he called him zayde, the Alter Rebbe, father's father. Why? Cuz it's a difference between the connection of a talmid to a rebbe and a child to a father. A talmid to a rebbe is connected only in what he learns. A child to a father is ืขืฆื. The Alter Rebbe wanted to show that his ื”ืžืฉืš to that Baal Shem Tov is the ืขืฆื. So it fits. So where's the ืขืฆื? Because he's the only one that spoke litvish, he came from Litah. Yeah, he spoke Yiddish like we speak, not like the poylishe, he spoke litvishe yiddish, and he came from Litah. He's the only one, everyone else came from He came, yeah. Which city did he live in before? I mean, he came from a litvishe city, yeah. And he spoke litvish. Always told this over that the first ืžื•ืฆืื™ ื™ื•ื ื›ื™ืคื•ืจ that the Alter Rebbe was by the Maggid, he came over to the Maggid and he said to him, \"gut yom tov.\" We say ืžื•ืฆืื™ ื™ื•ื ื›ื™ืคื•ืจ, \"gut yom tov.\" So the Maggid says, \"Who told, how did you know you're supposed to say gut yom tov?\" And he explains, it doesn't mean we know you say gut yom tov, but he said the Baal Shem Tov always used to say \"git yom tov.\" ืžื•ืฆืื™ ื™ื•ื ื›ื™ืคื•ืจ he used to say, \"gut yom tov.\" So when he said gut yom tov, so he thought because you heard that the Baal Shem Tov, so who told you that? Cuz the Baal Shem Tov always spoke poylish. Like the poylishe, like the ungarishe. And the Alter Rebbe spoke I don't know, I don't know. No, why gut yom tov, no. Why gut yom tov? No. I don't know, a chiruk and a, that's a shuruk. I don't know. No, why on ืžื•ืฆืื™ ื™ื•ื ื›ื™ืคื•ืจ ื“ื•ื•ืงื ื’ื•ื˜ ื™ื•ื ื˜ื•ื‘? Right, that's what the Alter Rebbe answered him, that by me, I always say gut yom tov. But ื‘ื ื•ื’ืข by the Baal Shem Tov, why did he say that after that? Anyway, dos heist, it means like this: ื›ืฉื ืขืก ื”ืื˜ ื–ื™ืš ืคืจื™ืขืจ ื’ืขืจืขื“ื˜ ื‘ื™ื™ ืžืขื ื˜ืฉ, just like we spoke by the person, ืื– ื“ื™ ื”ืชื’ืœื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื” ืื™ื– ื“ื•ื•ืงื ื•ื•ืขืŸ ื“ื™ ื›ื—ื•ืช ื”ืงื“ื•ืฉื” ื–ืขื ืขืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื ืžืฆื‘ ืคื•ืŸ ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ, just like by the ื™ื™ื“, when does the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืฉืžื” come out ื‘ื’ืœื•ื™? Davka when there is no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, when there's ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ ืขืœ ืืœื•ืงื•ืช, ืื–ื•ื™ ืื•ื™ืš ื‘ื ื•ื’ืข ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืื™ืŸ ืชื•ืจื”, same thing when we talk about the ืขืฆื of ืชื•ืจื”, ืื– ื–ื™ ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื ืชื’ืœื” ื“ื•ื•ืงื ื“ืืŸ ื•ื•ืขืŸ ื–ื™ ื“ืืจืฃ ืื•ื™ืคื˜ืืŸ ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ืžื“ืจื’ื•ืช ื”ืชื—ืชื•ื ื•ืช ื ืคืฉ ื”ื‘ื”ืžื™ืช ื—ืœืง ื‘ืขื•ืœื. The part of Torah that has To affect the lowest part. The part of Torah that has to affect a ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ'ื“ื™ืงืข thing, that's where you have the ืขืฆื. Where the ืคืกืง is from ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื, ื›ืœ ืขื ื™ืŸ ื”ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ืœืฉื ื•ืช ื˜ื‘ืข ืžื“ื•ืชื™ื•. ื›ืœ ืขื ื™ืŸ ื”ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช is to change your ืžื“ื•ืช. That means chassidus is not stam an ืขืคืืจื›ืกื™ื“ื™ืงืข ื–ืืš, it's to affect all the way down your bad ืžื“ื•ืช. Now we see the connection. The common denominator between the ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื“ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™, which ื›\"ื“ ื˜ื‘ืช was the ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, because that's when he passed away, and ืขื ื™ืŸ of galut. In beiden tut sich die ื”ืชื’ืœื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ื“ื•ืงื in a ort wo es ist ื—ื•ืฉืš ืื•ืŸ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™. In both of them we see how the ืขืฆื is ื ืชื’ืœื” because there is no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืื•ืจ, because there is ื”ืขืœื ื•ื”ืกืชืจ. Davka and that's in both, sei ื‘ื ื•ื’ืข ื“ื™ ืชื•ืจื”, ื“ื™ ืžื“ืจื’ื” ืคื•ืŸ ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™, because it's chassidus, and sei ื‘ื ื•ื’ืข ื“ื™ ืขื ื™ืŸ of galut, because that's what galut is. Sie, it's ื™ื“ื•ืข that the ืžื“ืจื’ื” and ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื is ืžืจื•ืžื– in his name, Shneur Zalman. Shneur is ืžืœืฉื•ืŸ ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ. Two lights. Zalman is ืื•ืชื™ื•ืช ืœ' ื–ืžืŸ, the same as ืœ' ื–ืžืŸ. In beiden nemen tezamen drickt zich in beiden nemen tezamen drickt nun is de ื—ื™ื‘ื•ืจ ืคื•ืŸ ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ mit Zalman. If you put the two names together, what does it show? There is ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ in ื–ืžืŸ. What does that mean, the ื‘ื™ืื•ืจ in them? ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ means, what does it mean two ืื•ืจ's? Which are the two ืื•ืจ's? De Baal Shem Tov had gesagt wegen dem Alter Rebbe, Baal Shem Tov said about the Alter Rebbe, that he will belichten the welt with the zwei lichte keiten. To light up the world with two lights. The ืœื™ื›ื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจืช ื”ื ื’ืœื”, and the ืœื™ื›ื˜ ืคื•ืŸ ืชื•ืจืช ื”ื ืกืชืจ, the light of ื ื’ืœื” and light of ื ืกืชืจ. And the here Baal Shem Tov spoke about the Alter Rebbe? Yeah. He said it. When the Alter Rebbe was born and when he was three years old. Came to at the upsherin. And not only that we have two lights, but they are one word. The name Shneur in halacha, is written as one word. Und der ืื•ืคื˜ื•ื‘ ืคื•ืŸ ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ in ein wort is, when you put it in one word, by dem Alter Rebbe is gewesen the ืฉืœื™ืžื•ืช'ื“ื™ืงืข ื—ื™ื‘ื•ืจ ืคื•ืŸ ื ื’ืœื” ื•ื ืกืชืจ, wie sie werden geworden ืื—ื“ ืžืžืฉ. By the Alter Rebbe, because other people, you have ื ื’ืœื”, ื ืกืชืจ. Some learn ื ื’ืœื”, more, the ื’ื“ื•ืœ ื™ืฉืจืืœ. Some ื ืกืชืจ. There were some that learned ื ื’ืœื” and ื ืกืชืจ, but they didn't connect them. They had the shiur in ื ื’ืœื”, had shiur in ื ืกืชืจ. But the ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™ mixed them both together, made it into one Torah. That's ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ together. That's actually part of the When? Sunday morning. Oh, no. No, I'm going to just take the halachah in the ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™'s Shulchan Aruch, and and show the ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™'s Yeah, I told him the title is wrong. People No, no, they told me when they saw the title, I told him that it's going to people are going to this they're going to think I'm going to describe the ื“ืจืš of the ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™. That's not what I'm doing. Because that's not what we made up. So, I I said to him, what could be the worst? People ask for their money back, so, Where where is this Sunday morning? Well, this Shabbos we have this big farbrengen and this thing. Sunday in yeshivah, they're having like a I don't know what you call it, symposium, a ื™ื•ื ืขื™ื•ืŸ, different speakers, and it's going to be live on on internet, and So, I might might come Huh? Yeah, yeah, people should be there. No, that's other sefarim. No, okay. But we see in this like you see by the Rebbe, you see By the Rebbe you see even more, by the Tzemach Tzedek by the Rebbe you see even more. Yeah, but by the ืืœื˜ืข ืจื‘ื™ also. What the koach of them is gekommen der ืคืืจ was er hat ืžืžืฉ gewesen ืžืžืฉ ืžืžืฉื™ืš ื•ืžื’ืœื” gewesen dem ืขืฆืžื•ืช ื”ืชื•ืจื”. Why was he able to take the two and put it together? Lichorah, each one is a separate ื“ืจืš. This is ื“ืจืš ื”ืคืฉื˜, this is ื“ืจืš ื”ืกื•ื“. How does it become together? He told you why, because it's ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ ืชื•ืจื”. And ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ ืืœืข ื’ื“ืจื™ื ืคื•ืŸ ื”ืขืœื ืื•ืŸ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, it's higher than ื”ืขืœื and ื’ื™ืœื•ื™. Und der ืคืืจ, he is ื‘ื›ื— ืฆื• ืžื—ื‘ืจ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ beide ืื•ืจื•ืช, ื ื’ืœื” ื•ื ืกืชืจ ื“ืชื•ืจื”. By the ื›ืœืœ, the Rebbe explains in different sichot. Just like in neshamah we have nefesh, ruach, neshamah, chayah, and then you have the highest level, yechidah, we have in Torah peshat, remez, derush, sod, and what's the fifth darga? Chassidut. And just like yechidah is higher than all four, and connects them all, yechidah of Torah, which is ื“ืจืš ื”ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช, connects them all. Which it says in the Shem Havayah, the same thing, you have ื™-ื”-ื•-ื”. So, you have four letters of Shem Havayah, and then you have, and this is the ืงื•ืฆื• ืฉืœ ื™ื•ืดื“. That's the highest ื“ืจื’ื, and that's higher than the and on. Yeah, yeah, but it started with the Alter Rebbe, because he is the ืžื›ื”. Und das hat er mamash gewesen, ืœื–ืžืŸ, that's for the second name. What's ืœื–ืžืŸ? What's ืคืืจื‘ื•ื ื“ืŸ ืžื™ื˜ ืขื•ืœื, ื–ืžืŸ is the world. And ืขื•ืœื, ืžืœืฉื•ืŸ ื”ืขืœื. That's heiรŸt, even in a ื ื™ื“ืขืจื™ืงืข ื•ื•ืขืœื˜ ื–ืืœ ืœื•ื™ื›ื˜ืŸ ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ. The Alter Rebbe made that in the lower part of the world should shine the two lights, the ื—ื™ื‘ื•ืจ ืคื•ืŸ beide ืื•ืจื•ืช, the connection of both sides. Und deimolt davka kommt der ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ ืชื•ืจื”. Davka when it's in zman, like you said before, When do you have the gilui of the ืขืฆื? When there's a ื”ืขืœื of the ืขืฆื. So that's why ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ, when is the ืฉื ื™ ืื•ืจ, which comes because of the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” of Torah? ืœื–ืžืŸ! ื’ืขืจืขื“ื˜ ืคืจื™ืขืจ, ืื– ื“ืขืจ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืื™ื– ื“ืื•ื•ืงื ืžื“ืจื™ื’ื•ืช ื”ื›ื™ ืชื—ืชื•ื ื•ืช, when do you have the ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”? Davka in the lowest ืžื“ืจื™ื’ื”, in an ืืจื˜ ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื ื™ืฉื˜ ืงื™ื™ืŸ ื›ืœื™ ืฆื• ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ื™ื, a place where there's no ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ื™ื. In Chassidus it actually brings a mashal to this. That it's easier to put your foot into hot boiling water than your head, cuz your head is more sensitive, it's more gilui, so it can't handle things of mesirat nefesh, and davka your foot which there is no gilui, that's where you can go mesirat nefesh, that's when It's a mashal. ื’ืขืจืขื“ื˜ ืคื™ืœ ืžืืœ, that I spoke many times, that the ืชื›ืœื™ืช ื”ื›ื•ื•ื ื”, ืื– ื“ื™ ืขื ื™ื ื™ื ืคื•ืŸ ืฉืœืžืขืœื” ืžื”ืฉืชืœืฉืœื•ืช, ืคื•ืŸ ื“ื™ ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ื”ืื“ื, ื–ืืœืŸ ืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, ืื•ืŸ ืื™ืŸ ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ืื•ื™ืš ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ืคื•ืŸ ืžืขื ื˜ืฉืŸ. Bichlal we said, we're saying now that there's a higher ื“ืจื’ื, the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”. But the ืชื›ืœื™ืช is that the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”, when it you bring you mamash the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”, it should shine in the ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื. It's not just that you mamash ืžืฉืœ is like we said mesirat nefesh is ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”. So what happens? The guy had mesirat nefesh, let's say, ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”. And let's say, Baruch Hashem, you get saved, he goes and says he's ready to go give his life for the Eibershter, and he's saved. The ื›ื•ื•ื ื” is not that he should give him finished with the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื”. Now that ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” that you had, now it should affect your ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ื”ื’ืœื•ื™ื™ื, ื ื™ืฉื˜ ื ืืจ ืื™ืŸ ื ื”ืขืœืž'ื“ื™ืงืŸ ืื•ืคืŸ ื•ื•ื™ ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช, it should be give, that you should bring out the ื’ื™ืœื•ื™. Far vos is there a ืžืขืœื” in the ืขื‘ื•ื“ื” ื‘ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช? Even though there's a ืžืขืœื” in ื’ืœื•ืช, ื•ื•ืืก ื“ืขืžืืœื˜ืก ื•ื•ืขืจื˜ ื ืžืกืจ ืื•ืŸ ืขืก ื’ื™ืœื˜ ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ, and death when the ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ is ื ืชื’ืœื”, ื“ืืš aber the ืชื›ืœื™ืช ืคื•ืŸ ื’ืœื•ืช is the ื’ืื•ืœื” ื•ื•ืืก ืงื•ืžื˜ ื ืื›ื“ืขื. The ื’ืœื•ืช is not for ื’ืœื•ืช, it should be the ื’ืื•ืœื”, that comes after the ื’ืœื•ืช, ืื•ืŸ ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ืขื and through the ื’ืœื•ืช. ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜ ืื– ื“ืขืจ ื’ื™ืœื•ื™ ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ื—ื™ื ืช ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” ืคื•ืŸ ื–ืžืŸ ื”ื’ืœื•ืช, ื–ืืœ ืžืื™ืจ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืื•ื™ืš ืื™ืŸ ื“ื™ ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ืคื ื™ืžื™ื™ื ืคื•ืŸ ืžืขื ื˜ืฉืŸ, that now that ื™ื—ื™ื“ื” that we got should shine in the ื›ื•ื—ื•ืช ืคื ื™ืžื™ื™ื, ืื–ื•ื™ื’ืก ื–ื™ื™ ื–ืืœืŸ ื“ื•ืจื›ื’ืขื“ืจื•ื ื’ืขืŸ, ื•ื•ืขืจืŸ ื“ื•ืจื›ื’ืขื“ืจื•ื ื’ืขืŸ ืคื•ืŸ ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ, is also have to have the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ. ื•ื™ืฉ ืœื•ืžืจ ื‘ื“ืจืš ืืคืฉืจ, ืื– ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ื“ืขืจ ืื•ื™ืคื˜ื• ืคื•ืŸ ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื ืื™ืŸ ืชื•ืจืช ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ื—ื‘\"ื“. This is the chidush of the ื‘ืขืœ ื”ื™ืœื•ืœื, of the Alter Rebbe, in ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ื—ื‘\"ื“, ืื– ืขืฆื ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช ื”ืชื•ืจื”, ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ ื”ืฉืชืœืฉืœื•ืช, ืคื•ืŸ ื˜ืขื ื•ื“ืขืช, the ืขืฆื of ืคื ื™ืžื™ื•ืช which is higher, ืื•ืŸ ื•ื•ืืก ืขืจ ืงืขืŸ ืœื›ืื•ืจื” ื’ืขื ื•ืžืขืŸ ื•ื•ืขืจืŸ ื‘ืœื•ื™ื– ื‘ืงื‘ืœื” ื•ืืžื•ื ื”, since it's higher than ืฉื›ืœ, you only could take it with with ืืžื•ื ื”, ื–ืืœ ืื•ื™ืš ื“ืืก ืืจืืคืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื‘ื ื’ืœื” ื•ื‘ืื”ืฉื’ื” ืื™ืŸ ื—ื‘\"ื“ ืฉื‘ื ืคืฉ. That's the Alter Rebbe Chassidus Chabad. You take Chassidus Chabad, which is bound with the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ, and what's he doing? ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ means that it's higher than seichel, and he's bringing it down into seichel. That's what Chabad, what your seichel should understand. ืื•ืŸ ื“ื•ืจืš ื“ืขื ืคื•ืขืœ'ื˜ ื–ื™ื™ืŸ ืื•ื™ืš ืื– ื–ื™ื™ื ืข ืžื“ื•ืช, so this ืคื•ืขืœ's on ืžื“ื•ืช, ha? ื”ืฉืชื ื•ืช ื”ืžืฆื™ืื•ืช. Yeah, ื˜ื‘ืข ื”ืžื“ื•ืช. Yes, ืื–ื•ื™ ื–ืืœ, und dann spรคter werden mit ahavah veyirah, it's supposed to bring it to ahavah veyirah. You know, Chassidus Chabad has two parts: on one hand it's Chabad, seichel, but ื—ืกื™ื“ื•ืช ื’ื•ืคื says, ื•ื™ื“ืขืช ื”ื™ื•ื, ื™ื“ื™ืขื”, should be wise, ื•ื”ืฉื‘ื•ืช ืืœ ืœื‘ื‘ืš, to bring to the ืžื“ื•ืช. The whole Chassidus Chabad, so cuz sometimes we learn in ืžืืžืจื™ื and ืฉื™ื—ื•ืช that Chassidus Chabad is main thing to understanding ืืœื•ืงื•ืช, seichel, other ืžืืžืจื™ื it says the main thing is it should ืคื•ืขืœ on the ืžื“ื•ืช. They're both true! ื”ื›ื•ื•ื ื” is you should have the proper ืฉื›ืœ ืคื•ืขืœ on the ืžื“ื•ืช. ื•ื“ืืก ืื™ื– ืžืจื•ืžื– in that what the ื”ืกืชืœืงื•ืช is gewesen ืžื•ืฆืื™ ืฉื‘ืช ืงื•ื“ืฉ, ืื•ืจ ืœื™ื•ื ื' ื“ืคืจืฉืช ื•ืืจื. You said before that emunah only doesn't affect in change in ืžืฆื™ืื•ืช, so just like emunah you're you're Right, right, yeah. sort of against the whole idea, And nevertheless, you you you do it. That's all. but nevertheless you do, but here it's Here it changes, yes. So now he says connection, before he explained the whole connection to Shemos, why did the Tzemach Tzedek write Shemos to Shemos, but the bottom line is after all it was Vaera. So since it was Vaera, it had to be connected to Vaera also, so now we know connection to Vaera. Aber Vaera steht in the ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, the alter Tzemach Tzedek didn't write that, but then what why is it connected to Va'eira? Because we said the whole kavanah the maalah of galut, which is the maalah of the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ, but the whole purpose of the maalah of the ืขืฆื ื”ื ืคืฉ to be poel on the giluy. That's why it's already Va'eira. Like Rashi says, ืœื ื ื•ื“ืขืชื™ ืœื”ื, ื‘ืžื™ื“ืช ืืžื™ืชื™ืช ืฉืœื™, to the Avot I didn't do it. Aber ื•ืืจื ืืœื™ื™ื ืข, doch ืœืฉื•ืŸ ืจืื™ื”, another, ื•ืืจื, ืœืฉื•ืŸ ืจืื™ื”, ื’ื™ืœื•ื™. ื“ืืก ื”ื™ื™ืกื˜ ืื– ื“ื™ ื‘ื—ื™ื ื” ืžื“ืจื’ื” ื•ื•ืืก ืื™ื– ื”ืขื›ืขืจ ืคื•ืŸ ื”ืฉืชืœืฉืœื•ืช, which is Shemot, is ืืจืืคื’ืขืงื•ืžืขืŸ ื‘ืจืื™ื” ื‘ื’ื™ืœื•ื™, ื‘ืื•ืคืŸ ืคื ื™ืžื™, ื›ืคื™ ืฉื”ื ื ืงื‘ืขื™ื. And that's what we are getting at, the Alter Rebbe. What is it, ืœื–ืžืŸ? ืœื–ืžืŸ... It's another teitch of words like Zalmendik. Zalmendik, like Zalman, goes on ืœื–ืžืŸ, ืœื–ืžืŸ ื ื‘ื™ืื”. Good! The real zeman. The real... Yishar koach, yishar koach. We don't even have a minyan, but we don't forget about it either. No. So, boy, how do you make how does the Alter Rebbe make Chasidut, you know, being nigleh and nistar? I mean, I I understand in in in halachah, a lot of halachah is sort of based on Yeah, look at the Siddur. The Siddur, which is halachah, is also is also half Kabbalah, half Okay, that's what, but in Chasidut itself, You find Gemara in the Gemara No, all it says that that wine is red. Says about ื›ื™ ื™ืชืื“ื, ื™ื™ืŸ ื›ื™ ื™ืชืื“ื. It says you shouldn't look for it, but davka, because it's ื“ืจื›ื™ ืืžื•ืจื™, but there is a maalah in red wine, it says that. So what what would that mean like in Ein Yaakov if you go there, and always that we know to make, that the, to bring eyesight back from the stuff, the wine swipe under the eyesight, it doesn't say red like that? Right, right. Someone mentioned that there's a story with the Rebbe, red, and I said that I'd remember, and now we saw it tonight. Yeah. Scotch. That is not scotch. Put enough, put enough. No more public things. How do we do to get a bigger attendance? Bigger attendance for the sichot here. For the sichot here. Yeah.
